I am experiencing the worst day of my life.

I almost lost a life mentor today. Now he is fighting for his life in the ICU.

I just saved him and I don't want to think that they are blaming me for what happened. I got some unsettle baggage of my own too.

More than a year ago, I lost my mother, then last two months ago, my father passed away too. The bank took our home. I was left with almost nothing, except for an old motor bike and a few amount on my savings account.

I am trying to find my purpose, trying to know my calling. But dark days really gets in the way when you least expect them.

Police Station, interrogation room.

"Are you putting me in jail sir?"

"No, but you will be detained here at the station for awhile." replied by the senior officer. "Your testimony is still under investigation."

I sighed.

Outside the wall of the interrogation room. Two other senior officers were talking.

"This is just a kid, what if we never found the body of the missing junior officer. "

"I still keep wondering how he was able to find and pull out the Senior Officer's body. He did this after rescuing the hostage first. During that time, the explosion already happened and the fire started spreading all over the building. "

"He placed the hostage to their service vehicle then decided to went back to find the Sr. Officer.'

"He came back without a scratch nor burn. Though his clothes did have some burns."

"If the Senior Officer wakes up, we will validate Mat's testimony. But he will still get minimum penalty of a house arrest for a few weeks or so."

"No one will claim or bail him out, he just lost his father recently, his mom died 2 years ago."

"A complete orphan. What a pity."

"He will stay here in the station for the evening."

Back inside the interrogation room.

"They really are not joking when they said not letting me out for tonight. What could possibly be worst."

Crumbling sound heard from Mat's stomach.

"Oh I haven't eaten anything since the start of the mission yesterday, except for that glass of water offered by station chief. I'm starving. "

"I guess its late night now and everyone called their day now. I'm the only one left here, and maybe the night duty officer. Might take some nap and ignore this hunger."

Mat took the other chair and placed it in front of his as a foot rest.

Steps of a high heels was echoing across the hallway of the police station. The night duty guard nodded and acknowledged as the middle aged woman passed across him. Ms. Winterfrost. "Good evening officer. I came to see the boy."

I was half awakened by this mild perfume scent, this is not the cheap ones for sure. I slept over my arm facing down the table. The blurred image slowly cleared and it was a well suited lady. She seems to be on her late thirty's or on her early forty's. Almost the same aura like my mother's if she was still alive.

"Hello young Mat Adam..."

"Goof evening Ma'am..."

"Is this for the final interview? I really want to go now. I have done this 3 times already since I got here and no one seems to believe anything I said. I didn't know this is how they treat someone who just saved 2 lives. And for a single missing person, I am stuck on here forever."

The lady smirked and raised her head, " I clearly got your point young man and i am not here to interrogate you, but to give my sincere gratitude, Shall we start over again?"

Wow that lady sounds commanding, well in a positive way, but anyway way, nice to know that this is not another round of questioning.

"I am Lily Winterfrost, I am here to show my deepest gratitude to you, for saving my daughter."

"Your daughter? Ah the rescued hostage.."

And just before I utter another word, loud noise was uncontrollably heard from my stomach. That was really awkward and embarrassing.

"I know that sound, come on, I know a place. "

"Yeah, like I could easily get out of here."

"Come on Mat Adam, we'll just grab a bite."

Ms. Lily picked-up and threw my hoodie in front of me and then she walked exiting the room.

"Alright miss, never dare a hungry young fellow."

I quickly followed her like whatever happen i will be pointing her then go back to the room peacefully.

"Good night officer", she said waving good bye.

"Good night Ms. Winterfrost", then the officer just nodded at me like he was saying I got my eyes on you boy.

I made little quick steps closer to Ms. Lily

We made it out peacefully and unharmed. We were walking by the front parking of the police station, a tried to catch cab exaggeratedly waving at it to get the drivers attention but as it pass, there was a passenger.

"What are you doing Mat?"

"Getting us a ride ma'am really hard to get one this late at night. Could have been easier if we could book a ride online."

"Ms. Lily shook her head and smiled, come here Mat, don't worry about the ride."

Then a nearby classic white Carrera car sounded some beeps along with a quick flashes of its signal lights.

"Nice ride miss. This is a vintage classic." She sure is rich.

We stopped on an open convenient store to get grab something to eat then went back to the car.

" Are we going back now to the police station?"

"Hmm no not yet..."

"I heard you needed a job, so I will be offering you a freelance job, this is just a single task and it would be a very easy one for you."

"Any job would do. But how about my..."

"I got you covered, as soon as you finish the job, I will be the one to deliver you to the location of your house arrest if ever that would be your finding."

"Well, you got some dark sense of humor ma'am."

Ms. Lily gave me a small note with an address written on it.

And the task, install security cameras and setup server for this small restobar. Purchase fund is in there, the excess would be your transportation allowance and your service fee.

"Oh my... I think you gave too much excess fund, there must be some mistake here?"

"No Mat, that excess is for your service fee, including a little courier task if I'm not asking too much."

"Yep, consider this done Ms. Lily."

"And aw, here is the second and final task. Deliver this box to Ms. Summer Eve. Dont worry this is just a necklace, a gift for my niece, been a long time since I last saw her."

"You guys don't do family reunions or gatherings? Sorry did I thought of it out so loud?"

"Your a good person Mat Adam."

"Mat, do you think your survival at the fire incident was pure luck?"

"Ms. Lily...?"

"And how about the black warp you entered for a few seconds, did you encounter with someone while you were inside it?"

"Wait, I never mentioned any of that to anyone, how did you know that? I even thought it was just a dream..."

"No Mat, you knew it was real, you could sense the difference if it was a dream or not..."

"Since you got a month off before my assigned task, I want you to visit this friend of mine, He can help you with this mysterious encounter that you had. Here is the address, and this is his name."
