23RD JULY
"There she is," Jamie hummed as he leant against the bonnet of his car, watching his girlfriend who he had only seen once in the past three weeks walk towards him, with a holdall slung over her shoulder, "Birthday girl."

"I missed you," Billie smiled, as she reached him, in the middle of St George's Park car park, wrapping her arms around his shoulders, his familiar embrace was an instant comfort, a comfort that felt a lot like home, "So much."

"Missed you too, babe," Jamie muttered with a smile, swaying her side to side, "Happy birthday."

"Still can't believe you got me two days off work," Billie grinned as she looked up at him, noticing that he was wearing her Richmond cap, "I don't know how you did it, I just got an email saying my holiday request was approved, holiday which I didn't even request."

"Well, I messaged Chloe, you know, Chloe Kelly, I met her a few times when I was at City," Jamie explained, "Told her about your birthday and what I've got planned and she told me she'd see what she could do."

"What have you got planned?" Billie raised her eyebrows in intrigue, already giddy that Jamie had driven from Richmond to Birmingham to collect her, even though she had insisted that she could get the train.

"Can't tell you, it's a surprise," Jamie insisted, taking her bag from her shoulder, "Let's get you home."

The first few weeks of the off season were when footballers always notoriously ended up on boozy holidays before coming home and training the booze out of their systems. Once upon a time, Jamie had done just that, there were videos and photos online that proved it.

But this year was different, some of the Richmond boys went away for a week or two to Ibiza, but Jamie remained in Richmond, because he was busy planning Billie's birthday surprise. He had been working very hard to make sure everything went as well as it possibly could, and yet the pair had managed to keep their relationship private.

There were a few rumours circulating in the press, those rumours were there long before Billie and Jamie got together, because tabloids failed to comprehend the concept of a man and woman being just friends, but there were various moments that only fuelled the fire.

Jamie had made the trip to watch the Lionesses' first match of the tournament at Old Trafford in Manchester. He spent the night with Billie before he went home to spend a few days with his mum, his presence at the match didn't go unnoticed by the press.

But they didn't care to read what people were writing about them, because they had each other, and that was what mattered.

"How've you been while I've been gone?" Billie asked as they sat in Jamie's car, driving back towards London.

"Babe, we talk like everyday," He smiled, placing a hand on her thigh, "You know what I've been up to."

"Yeah, but texting isn't the same, I like hearing what you've been doing from you," Billie told him, interlocking her hand with his, comforted by the faint hum of Fleetwood Mac, who she had encouraged Jamie to listen to.

"Well, last night, I went to the pub with Isaac, Colin, Will and Alfie," Jamie told her, "We ended up doing a bit of karaoke which was good."

"What did you sing?" Billie asked with a grin.

"We did a McFly song," Jamie told her, recalling what the boys mutually agreed was a 'rehearsal' for a later performance.

"Traitors," Billie teased, knowing that she would've forced them to sing One Direction instead.

"You'd have loved it," Jamie assured her.

"Colin and Alfie, have they been hanging out a lot while I've been gone then?" Billie asked out of intrigue, reminded of the moments she had hung out with both boys together, and they seemed to get on well. She just hadn't realised it was well enough to hang out without her there, but she was glad to hear it.

"I don't know," Jamie answered honestly, "I've been quite busy."

"Busy?"

"Sorting your birthday surprise," Jamie told her.

"Oh, well now I'm even more intrigued," Billie grinned.

"Don't ask me what it is, because I won't tell you," Jamie smirked, keeping his eyes on the road ahead.

"It's okay, I don't want to ruin the surprise," Billie assured him, "Does anyone else know about us yet?"

"I don't think so," Jamie told her, "Not since we told Alfie and Madison."

"Do you reckon they've worked it out?" Billie asked, "I'm not sure how good we are at this whole secret relationship thing."

"Well, I'm pretty sure Colin did smile when he saw me lockscreen last night," Jamie answered.

"What is it?"

"That picture of us at the Harry Styles concert," Jamie replied, and Billie instantly knew which photo he was referring to. Jamie had asked another fan who was also in the pit to take the photo in which Jamie had stood with his arm around Billie's shoulder, both wearing pink cowboy hats and feather boas.

Billie had planned her outfit meticulously, pairing white cowboy boots with a pink metallic skirt and a 'But Daddy I Love Him' t-shirt. Jamie understood his role of concert boyfriend, making sure to compliment Billie's outfit by opting for a pair of pink jeans and a white t-shirt.

It was arguably one of the best nights of Billie's life, and that photo on Jamie's lockscreen encapsulated it, because he hadn't chosen the photo in which they were looking at the camera, but rather the one in which they were gazing at each other. (Billie was just relieved that no one at the concert recognised them).

"I've missed my favourite Welshman," Billie muttered with a yawn.

"Hey, why don't you have a nap?" Jamie squeezed her knee, "We've got a couple of hours till we get back to Richmond, you'll want to save your energy for later."

"Okay, pretty boy," Billie leaned across the centre console and kissed his cheek.

Billie's eyes snapped open at the sound of knocking against the car window, she looked up out of the window to see Madison, Alfie and Colin staring back at her with eager smiles.

"Happy Birthday!"

Billie turned to Jamie as she wiped the sleep from her eyes, "Did I really sleep all the way home?"

"Yeah," Jamie nodded, having turned the radio down as soon as she fell asleep, because he could sense that she needed a decent bit of sleep.

"Well, I'm a shit passenger, aren't I?" Billie sighed.

"No, you're not, Bils," Jamie assured her, looking past her at her friends who were eager to hug her, "Best not keep them waiting."

"Alright," Billie sighed, "You'll have my undivided attention once we get inside, okay, pretty boy?"

"Perfect."

Billie opened the car door, climbing out to be greeted by squeals from Madison who promptly wrapped her in a hug, "Happy birthday, gorgeous girl!" Madison grinned.

"Come here, Bils," Alfie smiled as he wrapped his best friend in a hug, "Happy birthday."

"Happy birthday, boyo," Colin greeted her with a hug.

"Thank you," Billie smiled at all three of them with a smile as Jamie joined her, carrying her bag, "I assume you're in on this surprise that Jamie won't tell me about?"

"Let's just get inside and then we'll talk about it, yeah?" Jamie suggested.

"Good idea," Madison nodded.

The five friends made their way upstairs to Billie's flat, which she had missed terribly while she was away for work, the place she considered her own sanctuary, but as she reached the top of the stairs, she couldn't stop herself from smiling.

Various presents were scattered across the kitchen island, and the ceiling was covered with lilac and sage green helium filled balloons. In the middle of the counter was a birthday cake that Jamie had made with Phoebe's help. There were also various photos of Billie stuck to the kitchen cupboards, one from each year of her life, starting with a photo of sixteen year old Roy holding a newborn Billie, all the way up until a photo Jamie had taken of Billie at the concert just weeks before.

"You guys did all of this for me?" Billie whispered, unable to hide her smile.

"Well..." Madison's voice trailed off as they all glanced at Jamie, who had been the one to organise the whole thing, from asking Madison for advice on the sort of thing Billie would enjoy to putting Phoebe in charge of the cake to make sure she was included. Not to mention the reason he'd been out with Alfie and Colin the night before, so that he could stay the night in Billie's bed to make sure everything was ready in the morning.

"You're a fucking softy, Tartt," Billie grinned at her boyfriend, wrapping her arms around his shoulders, "What did I do to deserve you?"

Colin promptly clocked onto the look between his two friends, putting the various puzzle pieces together and realising that what he had suspected for some months was in fact the truth.

"I wasn't expecting this," Billie rested her head against Jamie's chest, "It's a perfect surprise."

"Oh, this isn't the surprise, Bils," Madison told her before looking at Jamie, "You wanna tell her?"

"We're going to an icons themed event at a bar in town," Jamie explained, playing down what he actually had planned, "Madds and Keeley helped me pick out your outfit."

"Oh, now I'm excited," Billie grinned, "So, what am I going as?"

"Alf, Colin, you boys hungry?" Madison looked between the two men, sensing that Billie and Jamie might appreciate a moment alone.

"I'm not really that-" Madison cut Alfie off with an elbow to the ribs, "Food? Sounds good."

"We'll see you guys in a bit, alright?" Madison told her best friend.

"Alright," Billie smiled as she watched her friends disappear down the stairs as Colin prepared a dozen questions for Madison and Alfie.

"So," Jamie mused as soon as the front door closed, "I've missed you."

'Missed you too," Billie's eyes flitted down to his mouth, "All of you."

She kissed him slowly, reminded of what she had been deprived of in their weeks apart. She'd missed kissing Jamie, she'd missed Jamie in general. His hands wandered her body, before landing on her jaw, a smile curving across his mouth as her tongue trailed across his bottom lip.

Mindlessly, Billie removed Jamie's hat, tossing it on the floor, running her hands through his hair as she glanced up at him for a fleeting second, her eyes promptly widening.

"You're blonde!" Billie exclaimed as she studied his blonde highlights, intrigued by the new look.

"It was meant to be more of a surprise," Jamie told her, "If you don't like it then that's cool."

"If this is my birthday surprise then that's fine by me," Billie smirked, even more attracted to him than she presumed possible.

"Well, it's kind of...Why don't I just show you?" Jamie took her hand in his, guiding her into her bedroom.

As Billie entered the room, Jamie stood close behind with his hands resting on her waist, she caught sight of two outfits on hangers. Jamie's outfit was a white tank top, light blue jeans and orange tinted sunglasses. While Billie's outfit was a black leather mini dress and black knee high boots.

"We're going as Posh and Becks, Keeley and Madds helped me choose the outfit, if you don't like it, we can change it." Jamie insisted, wanting to ensure that she'd be comfortable in the outfit he'd chosen.

"It's perfect," Billie grinned, because it was perfect, and just made so much sense, "So the blonde highlights, that's you committing to the costume?"

"Yeah," Jamie nodded, "I was only gonna do it for your birthday, but I might keep it."

"I love it," Billie smiled, "How long do we have till we need to be ready?"

"A few hours," Jamie muttered.

"Mmhmm," Billie hummed as she turned to face him, "There's a lot that can be done in a few hours."

"Yeah?"

"Yeah."

"You know, I think it's pretty incredible that your birthday is the same day that band of yours was put together," Jamie smiled as he and Billie sat in the back of their chauffered car on their way to their location for the night, dressed like a picture perfect Posh and Becks.

"Fate, right?" Billie's voice trailed off as she looked down at her phone, having been caught up in replying to birthday texts from friends and family since they got in the car.

"You okay, Bils?" Jamie squeezed her hand.

"Yeah," She nodded, closing her phone, "I haven't had a message from Mum or Dad...don't know why I'm acting like I should expect one."

"Hey," Jamie wrapped an arm around her shoulder, knowing that complicated families made for complicated birthdays, "They don't know what they're missing out on."

"What do you mean?" Billie muttered, resting her head on Jamie's shoulder, making sure not to leave any makeup residue on his tank top.

"You're fucking incredible, Bils," Jamie assured her, "You're smart, talented, kind, creative and fucking beautiful...and if they don't appreciate that, then that's on them, not you."

"Thank you," Billie kissed him on the cheek.

Jamie swiftly pulled his phone from his pocket, typing a quick text to Alfie, who was already at the venue, letting him know that they were just minutes away, having kept one eye on the driver's sat nav for most of the journey.

A few minutes later and the couple's car had pulled up outside a bar on one of Soho's busier streets, which was bustling with nightlife already. Jamie climbed out of the car first, holding his hand out to Billie who took hold of it, grateful for the lack of photographers present as Jamie guided her past the bouncers and into the building.

"We're upstairs," Jamie told her before he guided her up the large spiral staircase.

The bar was one of those trendy buildings, with moody pink lighting, and unique art on the walls, the sort of place that Jamie knew Billie would love.

"Where now?" Billie frowned as they reached a foyer area, a couple of sofas facing each other, surrounded by three doors.

"Through there," Jamie told her, gesturing towards the door opposite them, he guided her towards the closed door, his heart racing against his chest, because he wanted everything to be as perfect as possible, "After you."

"Alright," Billie nodded slowly, sensing Jamie's nervous disposition as she opened the door to be met with a dark room.

"Surprise!" The coloured lights promptly switched on and early 2000s pop music began to play, and Billie realised that the room was full of her favourite people dressed as iconic celebrities and characters, not just the Richmond boys, but Rebecca, Keeley, both Billie's siblings, Phoebe, even Nora, as well as both Higgins and his wife.

"What the-" Billie turned to Jamie in shock, "Is this...is this for me?"

"Yeah, babe," Jamie nodded with a smile, the music being loud enough that no one could hear them across the room.

"I love you, so much," Billie wrapped her arms around his shoulders, "Thank you."

"Billie!" Keeley ran towards her, wearing a black crop top and black disco pants with red heels and tight curled hair, "Happy birthday, gorgeous girl!"

"Thank you, Keels," Billie hugged her, "You look incredible," She looked up to see her brother wearing an outfit similar to his day to day wear, except his t-shirt was white, "Let me guess, Danny and Sandy from Grease?"

"You got it," Keeley nodded as they both watched Roy and Jamie greet each other with a hug, a dynamic that Billie still adored, "Jamie asked us all to come as iconic duos."

"Happy birthday, kiddo," Roy greeted his sister with a hug, "It's good to see you."

"You too, Royo," Billie grinned, glancing over at Jamie who was amongst half a dozen Richmond players.

"He's done a good job, hasn't he?" Roy remarked as various Richmond players greeted Jamie as they waited to wish Billie a happy birthday.

"Not really sure what I did to deserve it," Billie sighed thinking back to the first birthday she spent with Brad, that involved drinking cheap spirits and spending the evening in all the places Brad wanted to be. But now she had what she deserved, a man who had spent weeks ensuring that he could pull off a surprise for the woman who meant the world to him.

"Don't be daft," Roy replied, "He clearly adores you, we all do."

"Happy birthday, Sporty Spice!" Ted approached her, accompanied by Beard, the pair of them dressed as Woody and Buzz, "Or should I say, Posh Spice?"

"Thanks, Ted," Billie smiled.

"So, on a scale of one to hakuna matata, how's it been spending the summer with those lionesses?" Ted enquired.

"It's been great," Billie nodded, "We'll be heading up to Sheffield for our next match in a few days."

"Semi final, baby!" Beard exclaimed, he'd been following the tournament meticulously, impressed with the Lionesses' ability to command a match, noting down a few tactics he thought Richmond could benefit from in the new season.

"Well I'm darn glad it's going well," Ted smiled, "We sure as hell can't wait to have you back at Nelson Road."

"I miss you all, miss those boys," She replied, "Speaking of which, I should probably say hi to them."

"We'll see you on the dancefloor," Ted saluted before Billie made her way towards the boys.

"There she is, birthday girl!" Colin exclaimed as Billie joined their circle, grinning as she admired each of their costumes. Isaac and Colin had come as Batman and Robin, Sam and Will were dressed as Alfredo and Remy from Ratatouille.

"You all look fucking incredible!" Billie grinned as she admired their costumes, "So you were all in on this?"

"Yeah, Jamie did a great job of organising us," Will nodded, of course having the most knowledge about Billie and Jamie's relationship out of the whole team.

"A whole groupchat and everything," Isaac added as Jamie's cheeks reddened, "Jamie's been a busy man."

"So I hear," Billie smirked, wrapping an arm around Jamie's back, "How've you all been? Ready for next season?"

"We've just been training, most of us went to Ibiza, Jamie stayed here," Sam explained as Billie looked up at Jamie with a frown.

"You didn't go to Ibiza?" She frowned, wondering why he'd swerve the opportunity for a boys trip.

"I was busy," Jamie shrugged as he wrapped an arm around her shoulder.

"Busy?"

"He was at Alf and Madds' a lot, getting everything ready for tonight, and he's been hanging out with Roy and Phoebe," Colin was quick to answer, having heard all about it from Alfie.

"You did not tell me that," Billie raised her eyebrows at Jamie, "You've been hanging out with my brother?"

"Well, apparently Phoebe wanted me to come with them to Alton Towers, so I did," Jamie told her, which was just a glimpse of the truth. He had actually been getting on quite well with Roy, to the point where they'd even hung out a couple of times just the two of them.

"Well, I better catch up with my niece before she has to go home, eight year olds and bedtimes, it's a big thing," Billie told the boys.

"You want me to come with you?" Jamie asked, looking between her and the rest of the team.

"Yeah, alright," She nodded, "See you boys in a bit."

The four friends watched as Billie and Jamie walked away, heading via the bar towards where Rebecca, Hannah, Phoebe and Nora were standing.

"You don't think..." Isaac muttered, "Billie and Jamie are...a thing do you?"

"No way." Will was quick to reply, feeling a responsibility to keep the secret under wraps.

"He planned a whole surprise party for her," Sam added.

"And they're dressed as Posh and Becks, who are a couple." Isaac replied.

"He also drove to Birmingham to collect her this morning," Colin sighed, relieved that he wasn't the only person who saw it.

"Well, when they tell us, we'll all just act proper surprised, yeah?" Isaac told his teammates, glancing over at Jan Maas and Bumbercatch who were DJing for the night, dressed as Gru and Vector from Despicable Me.

"You look fucking incredible, boss," Billie slipped out of Jamie's embrace to hug Rebecca, who was dressed as Elsa from Frozen, accompanied by Nora, who of course was Anna.

"He's a keeper, young lady," Rebecca whispered in her ear, recalling the email Jamie had sent her some weeks ago, asking for venue recommendations.

"I know."

Jamie wanted everything to be perfect, he wanted to make up for the lost birthdays she spent on her own, wishing her parents would notice her.

"Thank you for coming, Nora," Billie smiled at the young lady.

"Mum was going to come, but she's at a conference in Liverpool," Nora explained, glancing between Jamie and Billie, observing the way Jamie's eyes remained on Billie (she was the daughter of a psychologist, she was good at that stuff).

"Well, I'm glad you could make it," Billie grinned before turning her attention to her sister and Phoebe who were dressed as Men in Black, crouching down in front of her niece, "And you are very good at keeping secrets, kiddo...All those facetimes and not a peep?"

"Jamie told me that we could go for ice cream when you're back from work if I kept it secret," Phoebe explained.

"Ah, that figures," Billie nodded with a smile.

"We made your cake together," Phoebe told her, "Well, I showed Jamie how to make it."

"You did?" Billie smirked as she stood up beside Jamie, nudging her boyfriend with a smile.

"It was a team effort," Jamie disputed as Phoebe folded her arms across her chest.

"Pheebs," Billie smiled at her niece, "You know, if England make it to the final this year, they'll play at Wembley, and I'll have a couple of seats, would you like to come watch some super cool ladies play football?"

"Who would I go with?" Phoebe asked.

"That's up to you, kiddo," Billie told her.

"Jamie can take me, I like his car," Phoebe promptly decided, "The girls are better than the boys, he might learn some things."

Billie clapped her hand over her own mouth in shock as she looked up at Jamie who could only smile at the comment.

"She's not wrong," Jamie smiled.

"See," Phoebe grinned as Billie turned her attention to her sister.

"I'm glad you could be here," Billie hugged her sister as Jamie and Phoebe proceeded to playfully bicker back and forth.

"Booked the day off as soon as Roy told me about the party," Hannah told her, glancing over at her sister's boyfriend who was making more of an effort with Billie's family than Brad ever had, "He's so much better than Brad ever was."

"I know," Billie smiled, "And he's so good with Pheebs."

"I'm sure Phoebe would love a little cousin," Hannah smiled at her sister, "One day."

"Yeah, that's not happening...yet," Billie laughed, because she and Jamie hadn't been together long at all, they knew each other, but they were still getting to know each other as a couple, and they were both still young. She knew she wanted children one day, she didn't know where Jamie stood on the matter, but ultimately, it was still early days, they were enjoying being just Billie and Jamie.

But what she did know is that Jamie would be a brilliant dad.

"Phoebe's challenged me to a bake off," Jamie sighed as he approached the two Kent sisters, wrapping an arm around Billie, "What are we talking about?"

"You." Billie replied.

"Babies," Hannah answered simultaneously.

Jamie looked down at Billie's flat stomach and then back at her face, "You're not...are you?"

"No, Jamie," Billie smiled, kissing his cheek before gesturing to the vodka and coke in her hand, "No babies."

"Oh, right," Jamie nodded, half relieved because their relationship was still so new, yet he knew that having a baby with Billie would be a beautiful thing, one day.

"Higgins and Julie look great, don't they?" Billie gestured to the pair who were dressed as Marge and Homer, on the dancefloor amongst others, dancing to the end of 'Love Machine' by Girls Aloud with Madison and Alfie who were dressed as Sharpay and Ryan.

"Everyone looks great," Jamie replied, placing a gentle kiss on her jaw, "Not as good as you, though."

"Jamie," Billie looked up at him, "Are you gonna ask me for a dance?"

"Yeah, alright," Jamie kissed the side of her head as 'Can't Say No' by Conor Maynard (a staple from Billie's youth) began to play.

"Jan and Bumbercatch are smashing it with this playlist," Billie told Jamie as they weaved their way onto the dancefloor where half of the Richmond players were already committing to their dancing.

"It's your playlist, babe," Jamie told her, "Just added a few extras."

"You are earning dozens of boyfriend points with all this," Billie grinned up at him as they joined their friends on the dancefloor.

"Good to know," Jamie smirked, and all he wanted to do in that moment was kiss her, but he settled on wrapping his arms around her shoulders as she rested her back against his chest, swaying to the music.

"You've got a karaoke machine?" Billie noticed the microphones and small screen on the little stage where Jan and Bumbercatch were DJing.

"It's for later," Jamie told her, kissing the side of her head.

They were in a small circle with Will, Colin, Alfie and Madison, swaying along to the music as they all sang along to the 2010s classic at the top of their lungs. Colin was going for it with the gun fingers, while Will was several bottles of WKD down, singing enthusiastically, with Alfie's arm around his shoulder.

Billie smirked as she rolled her hips back closer to Jamie, watching his arms tense up as a result of the friction between them, a reminder of their sweet reunion in Billie's bed some hours ago. He moved his hands down to her waist, pulling her as close as possible as they swayed to the music.

Jamie placed a kiss to Billie's shoulder, and then the nape of her neck, their friends were too wrapped up in their own worlds to notice. He trailed his hand up the side of her body and then along her arm, taking her hand in his, before twirling her under his arm, leaving them facing each other.

Billie wrapped her arms around his neck as Jamie's hands landed on her hips, their bodies as close as they could be, "You're playing with fire, Tartt."

"You look like fire, babe," Jamie hummed.

The friends spent a good half an hour on the dancefloor, until Billie retreated to the bar to have a break with Roy, Keeley, Hannah and Rebecca, the four women sharing shots and watching as the boys danced and sang along to all the songs that Billie had grown up listening to. She beamed with pride as she watched the boys who knew every word to every song (which were mainly by boy bands).

Billie's smile grew as she watched Jamie and Colin dancing with Phoebe to One Direction's version of 'One Way Or Another.'

"You enjoying your night, kiddo?" Roy asked as he handed Billie a vodka and lemonade.

"Yeah," Billie nodded, her eyes on Jamie as she watched him twirl her niece around under his arm.

"Did he tell you that Phoebe called him Uncle Jamie the other day?" Roy sighed as Billie's smile grew.

"She did?" Billie raised her eyebrows at her brother, "That was quick."

"I always presumed Jamie was a big kid, and in a lot of ways he still is," Roy remarked, but there was no bitterness to his statement, because Jamie's nature was also a product of his upbringing, he tried his hardest to be the man his mother raised him to be, all while embracing the carefree nature he should've been able to enjoy as a child, "But he is really good with her."

"Yeah, he is," Billie grinned as she watched Alfie approach Jamie and Colin, whispering something in their ears before Jamie crouched down to tell Phoebe something, "They're all up to something."

"Auntie Billie," Phoebe ran across the dancefloor towards the bar with a smile, "Can I have a drink?"

"You're a bit young for vodka, kiddo," Billie smiled at her niece.

"I know," Phoebe rolled her eyes with a smile, "Can I have a J2O?"

"I'm sure we can stretch to that," Billie smiled as she turned to face the bar, hit with a fond memory of asking her brother to get her the same drink at the pub when she was Phoebe's age.

"What can I get you?" The bartender asked as Billie leant against the bar, her back to the dancefloor.

"An orange J2O, please," Billie answered.

The bartender promptly retrieved a bottle from the fridge, handing it to her as the music cut out halfway through the song, the room erupting in applause.

Billie turned around, handing Phoebe the bottle before looking up to see Jamie, Will, Colin, Alfie and Isaac on the stage, each holding a microphone. Her eyes widened as the song began to play and the lyrics to 'Best Song Ever' by One Direction appeared on the karaoke machine.

"Maybe it's the way she walked, straight into my heart and stole it," Jamie began to sing Harry's part as Billie couldn't hide the smile on her face at the effort he had put into making her birthday perfect, "Through the doors and past the guards, just like she already owned it."

"I said, 'can you give it back to me?'" Isaac took Zayn's part, his voice monotone, but it was obvious that he was trying, "She said, 'never in your wildest dreams.'"

Once the boys had all sung their way through the chorus it was Alfie's turn, "Said her name was Billie Kent, and her brother was a footballer," Roy wrapped his arm around his sister who was staring at the five boys in shock, while everyone on the dancefloor proceeded to dance along, Beard, Ted and Higgins were giving it everything.

"Said I had a dirty mouth," Jamie sang, looking across the room at Billie.

"I got a dirty mouth," The boys ad-libbed.

"But she kissed me like she meant it," Jamie winked at Billie from the small stage.

"Did you know about this?" Billie asked her brother as the boys began to sing the chorus.

"I might've had an idea," Roy sighed, having been one of the first people Jamie had asked, but in true Roy Kent style, he had refused, knowing that Billie wouldn't mind, and that there were more than enough people who adored her and would jump at the chance to perform that song for her, "They've been rehearsing since you left for the Euros."

After Will's incredibly endearing performance of Louis' solo that had Billie welling up with happy tears as Keeley and Rebecca wrapped their arms around the young woman, it was time for the last chorus, and Billie's jaw was on the floor.

They were doing the dance from the music video, the dance she had campaigned for them to do for Dr Sharon. She couldn't stop herself from smiling as goosebumps erupted across her skin.

No one had ever gone to the effort of doing something like that for her before. It was one thing that Jamie had gone to the effort of planning an entire surprise party, but getting himself and four of Billie's favourite people to perform a dance to a song by her favourite band, that was unlike anything she had ever seen before.

As she watched the boys perform every step of the routine she affirmed it was her friendship with Jamie that had given their relationship the perfect foundation. They knew each other, in every sense of the word, they knew the good and the bad, they had both fallen in love with the realest version of each other. Billie had never known that love could feel that good.

The last moments of the song approached as the boys shimmied in individual circles, singing, "I think it went oh, oh, oh, I think it went yeah, yeah, yeah, I think it goes...." With their backs to the room they wiggled their hips before turning around, landing on one knee just as the band did in the music video, "Best song ever!"

The room erupted in applause as the boys stood up and took a bow. Billie blew them all a kiss, with a smile so big that her face hurt. She loved each of those boys in different ways, she adored the man that she called her boyfriend, and she loved him even more for including her childhood best friend in the routine alongside some of her favourite humans.

Billie watched as the boys stepped off of the stage, making their way through the crowd towards her, earning hugs and pats on the back from the other guests.

"That was..." Billie grinned as the boys reached her, "I'm not sure what to say, I'm fucking lost for words."

"So you liked it?" Will smiled eagerly.

"Fucking loved it," Billie beamed as she opened her arms, wrapping the boys in a group hug.

The party carried on into the night, and after Billie had spent most of that time dancing, she eventually took a moment for herself, sitting on one of the velvet couches outside the room where her party was happening. She felt inundated by love to the point that her parents' silence didn't bother her, she didn't know that the week before, Jamie had asked Roy whether he should invite her parents, and she didn't need to know, because everyone she needed and wanted in her life were in that room.

"I was wondering where you'd got to."

Billie looked up to see Jamie pulling the function room door closed before approaching her, sitting beside her on the couch.

"Just needed a minute to sit," Billie sighed, "My feet are killing me."

"Come here then," Jamie wrapped his arms around her, pulling her onto his lap, before reaching down and unzipping both of her boots, allowing her to kick them off.

"I love the blonde," Billie muttered as she ran a hand through his hair, "Didn't think you could get any fitter, but you've proved me wrong."

"Is that right?" Jamie smirked as he kissed her slowly, his hands on her waist, "Been wanting to kiss you all night."

"I think we should tell people," Billie told him, which was her way of saying that she had also wanted to kiss him all night, and she knew that it would be easier if the people closest to them knew about their relationship, "About us."

"I'd like that," Jamie muttered against her lips, "But not tonight, tonight's about you, not us."

Did they really think that no one noticed what they were like together?

"You outdid yourself tonight, J," Billie hummed, her hands resting on his neck, "I love you so much."

"You deserve every bit of it, Bils," Jamie assured her as he held her closer to his chest, "I'd do it again and again to see you smile like that everyday."

"Pretty sure a private performance of that dance routine every night could keep me happy," Billie grinned as she took Jamie's hand in hers, trailing her fingertips back and forth over his palm.

"I think I could make that happen," Jamie smiled, "It's fucking great cardio to be fair, my glutes have been on fire recently."

"I thought your arse looked good, who knew it'd be dancing to One Direction that did it for you," Billie laughed with a fond smile.

"You think me arse looks good?"

"Mmhmm," Billie muttered against his mouth.

"Well I've been in the gym when I've not been doing the party stuff," Jamie explained, "Been getting ready for the next season."

"Well, either way, the effort doesn't go unnoticed," Billie replied, "And I've loved every minute of tonight."

"I'm glad," Jamie smiled, his heart growing with every word.

"Fuck knows how I'm gonna top this on your birthday, Tartt."
