Chapter 5: A Jedi goes missing.
Time soon after Life day had seemed to pass by almost like an instant as days turned into weeks, and weeks into months, and finally a year. It was rather surreal for both Jaelynne and Megrybo as their lives were starting to begin newly after the news of their engagement got out. While some in their guild were rather pleased and happy for this news, there was of course those who were mixed in their opinions. Though they would congratulate the two no matter what as it was in their best interest. This congratulations was also brought more into upheaval as the two were eventually promoted to the rank of Master of the order due to their services before hand, and was a rank that they both held with pride.
Their subsequent engagement while it was happy and such was definitely going to be complicated due to their life style as Jedi, but neither of them were worried much about it at this point. The two of them had already come this far, and they would see it done to the latter. Although for Megrybo it became apparent that there was a void when the two went on mission's together with T7. While it was comforting too have the droid traveling with them, it was becoming problematic with him trying too help when they were in the midst of battle and he would at times become too exposed to their enemies.
It was also becoming apparent that T7 was becoming very lonely when it came too being the only droid within their household, but he was grateful for his two masters regardless. While these things could be ignored by most, Megrybo and Jaelynne weren't those kinds of people. So while Jaelynne tried to keep her droid companion happy, Meg was taking a different approach by finding another droid companion too both help them in their journeys, and too give the little astromech a friend.
That droid in question was much more easier to find than Megrybo had actually thought possible. While he was searching into the assets that were undoubtfully left behind by his father, Meg had found one such item that was left behind by his father. The rest of the items were trinkets, and were liquidated, or were taken by him.
The droid was inspected by Meg when he asked for the whereabouts about it, and with a little help from Barrister Morland, he found the droid with no problem in a sort of storage area within the docking port. Megrybo was seemingly impressed by the droid when he inspected it following after, but it was evidently clear that this droid was no utility or house droid.
What stood before him was a inactive HK-51 unit one with white, and red armor paint that covered him from head too toe. This was without a doubt an item that his father had once given the color scheme, and such. Now why his father had this thing in the first place was a mystery all on it's own, but Meg didn't need to question as he knew that if his father left this here, he left it for a reason.
However his answers about the droid were answered straight away when he reactivated him, but it was paramount that the droid had no clue where he was, and who had been keeping him safe.
"Query: Where am I currently, and what period is this?" The HK droid spoke in a stern tone, clearly obeying to his droid like behavior.
"You're on Coruscant, and well I can't exactly state just what you mean by period all I can say is that you're far from whatever time you were active last." Meg replied almost acutely and honest.
"Acceptance: Very well, but it is intriguing how I came too be here even after so long." The droid stated almost in a curious tone now.
"Yes, well I don't have that answer for you as well." Meg replied truthfully.
"Statement: Very well, but I suppose with you reactivating me it now clear that I will have too serve you now." The droid said with a blunt tone within his words.
"You're saying you are just willing too accept me as a master?" Meg questioned and was quite confused upon this realization.
"Reassurance: You misunderstand, my creators created me for the sole function of deleting high-ranking organic troublemakers from the galaxy. These deletions must be conspicuous, and provide an object lesson to other organic troublemakers, but they also delectated that I must have a master who orders these targets as I am an HK-51 unit after all. Seeing as how my original master, and creators are most likely dead, you are the only candidate as part of my programming of reactivation." The droid answered with about as much pure honest as was allowed in his programming.
"I see, so that means I am now you're master?" Megrybo replied still equally dumbfounded as before.
"Verification: Indeed, and as you're new droid you will find that nearly eighty-seven percent of all you're enemies will be terminated with me joining you're side." HK replied yet it was almost in a full state of confidence that almost reminded Meg of himself.
"I'll be grateful for that then, welcome aboard HK." Meg stated kindly to the droid, but instead of getting a solid answer the droid nodded, and soon after began too whir happily.
"Excitement: I shall not fail you, Master!" The droid said quite happily before the two decided too finally head back to Jaelynne's apartment.
When the two arrived back at Jaelynne's apartment however she was surprised by seeing the assassin droid accompanying Meg, but while this shock was coursing through her, he had known she would freak out a little. Though with a little insurance from Megrybo that the droid was in fact willing too help them as their new companion, she relented and calmed. It was also nice to know that T7 was approving of the newly introduced droid as well, but it was clear that both of them were at first rather neutral of each other.
The first thing that they both noted about the two droids was the fact that they occasionally bickered and would mess with each other whenever they had the chance. While HK would berate T7 to no end at times, the little astromech would return that sentiment by pulling pranks on the assassin droid. This would at times cause Jaelynne and Megrybo some stress, but neither of them could help to laugh at the two whenever they did these things. It was rather funny when they did so, but was also pleasing that they were getting along thankfully.
Things had finally been looking up for them as their new found companion was both a pleasant surprise and friend for T7, and was an excellent help when it came to their missions and duties tasked by their guild. It was a concern at first for many within their guild when the droid was spotted with Megrybo and Jaelynne, but were ultimately diminished when it was clear that the droid was no hostile threat to anyone within the guild.
Then the nightmarish dreams started happening.
Jaelynne would awaken during the middle of the night, scared and sweating as if though she was terrified beyond her life. Why was this happening one might ask? Well it mostly had to due with the fact that Jaelynne's now former master Seakata had gone missing after a retreat to Tython for sometime, but he disappeared shortly after arriving on the planet. Jael believed that she saw him, felt his distress, and was more than sure that he was captured by the Empire.
She truly believed that the danger he was in was real, but not everyone thought that it was. The only exceptions were Meg himself, and Grand Master Melvas.
While it was obvious that Melvas was treating these matters very seriously, it was Meg who would go to comfort Jaelynne whenever she would feel as if though a bit stressed, or was upset about the actions taken during this process. It was overly obvious that things were not going well when it came for these claims as Jaelynne would regularly return home frustrated, and upset by the lack of worth being put into her words.
Megrybo knew better however. Unlike the others he knew well as much as Melvas that Jaelynne and Seakata had a strong bond when it came to being apprentice and master. The others were just blaming all of this on stress because they hadn't heard from Seakata for a few months now, but they knew better than those who doubted her.
The strangest part of this endeavor was how, and why did Seakata just suddenly disappear out of the blue. It certainly wasn't a new thing that had happened to him as he was known to frequently on what he called a 'lost in translation' journey. This information did not help make people see it as serious as it seemed more likely that Seakata was just taking his time off for an extended time.
Though while they were hoping for some assistance from Grand Master Shan and the rest of the order for help, they were giving a short answer which was no. So while Jaelynne was trying her hardest to gain some sense of persuading the Grand Master, and gain her support. Megrybo and several other's, including the droids were constantly working to get any leads they could find.
Their guild may not have all the resources the Tython Council had at their disposal, but they would ensure that they would make up for it to ensure that their guildmate was found no matter the cost. Jaelynne was thankfully for those who helped in trying to get lead's, but mostly everything was turning up too old, or stale.
They would eventually find him, but not anytime soon they all knew.

Things hadn't gotten any better as two more weeks had passed since Seakata's sudden disappearance. While it was still known that they would have no help from the Tython council and many others, the Guardians were doing what they could, but were undoubtedly still hesitant on whether or not he was in fact truly missing, or just on leave. Though it was a different story when it came to Jaelynne.
Jaelynne had chased possibly every lead she could find, or was hopefully told. It had gotten so bad to the point that she had recruited Seranda to help in the search, but she and Meg knew that if anyone could find him it was Sera. They had no doubt at all that she could help them in finding him wherever he may be.
Although since they were Jedi, and were bound to their duties as members of a guild the two were constantly busy juggling both finding anything on Seakata, and their duties as Jedi. It was rather tiring for Jaelynne and Megrybo both as they would frequently return home tired, and or exhausted. However these details wouldn't stop them from getting what needed to be done, and what needed to be found. Something they both understood clearly as the days had become increasingly busier by the minute.
Today however was fortunately not one of those days as both of them were given a leave from duty for a few days, but neither of them really complained as they would take what they could get. Though it seemed that by how stern Jaelynne was during their holo-call that she was clearly wanting to get something off her chest, and asked if Megrybo could join her on the fleet too speak. Naturally he agreed, and since he was already on the fleet, decided to wait for her too arrive at the cantina.
When Jaelynne finally arrived she was glad to see that he had taken their favorite spot in the fleet's cantina, and with little hesitation sat down, sighed, and then began explaining what was on her mind for so long. During this entire explanation he looked at her, a sweet smile on his face as she explained this long lost twin named Ashlie Barr for nearly what he thought was an hour and a half. He held her hand and tried to soothe her concerns regarding her choice to train her new found twin against the orders of the Grand Council of the Jedi Order. He understood her completely and was all for her need of inclusion for Ashlie, but could not help himself from admitting that he was proud and impressed by what she was doing. Too which she laughed and thanked him.
Though while this information and sudden realization was quite shocking, and surprising it was really much more simple to Megrybo than he originally thought. It certainly helped that the supposed information that she had been waiting for happened to come right before she met him on the Fleet. Jaelynne played the message in front of them both, which helped her make it easier to explain the situation.
Megrybo was thankfully relieved that this entire ordeal that she had been silent about, wasn't actually about him at all as he'd thought it was originally. With her long silence on the matter, he had nothing to do but ponder what could be causing it and all he thought of was last time. He was so very worried that she was regretting saying yes to marrying him. He should have known better than to doubt her, something he would try his best not to do again.
Jaelynne was considering talking to Seranda about Ashlie as well. This was mostly something that didn't sit well with Meg, who bluntly pointed out Sera's obvious and strong hatred for all things Sith. To be honest he was still surprised she even worked for them considering Tage was a Sith, but was grateful nonetheless as she had been a tremendous help.
Megrybo pointed out that she may want to reconsider it, but it seemed that Jael was set on having this discussion whether anyone liked it or not. She claimed that she was tired of keeping things from those she cared about deeply. Meg ironically could totally relate.
Jaelynne decided as a finality that she was telling Sera and put in a call to her to request a meeting. Seranda agreed readily. Jael was understandably nervous about how Sera would react, but was still determined to tell her. She was just glad to have Meg supporting her at the moment, and up until they returned home.
When the two returned home later that evening it mostly the same as the two droids would continue their antics, and both Megrybo and Jaelynne would finish doing their own duties around the home. That night however it seemed very unnatural as Jaelynne was having a hard time falling asleep for the first time next to Meg. He on the other hand had no such problem, of course. His arm was firmly wrapped around her middle so he was content, but it was almost like he was hugging her in his own sleep. Something he knew she appreciated that night, even if she hardly got any sleep at all.
Today would be another one of those days it seemed as she left to go meet with Sera. Though this usually meant he would take the droids with him to assist him with whatever task the Grand Master, or the others had in store for them both today. It was the best he could do to cover for Jaelynne while she was away that day. Thankfully he knew that she was grateful for that as well, but also knew that she would be expecting an update from Sera on Seakata's whereabouts.
She was pouring everything she had in putting an end to the frantic search. A fact that almost a lot of them were thankful for at this point.
******
Another week had passed before Sera called them with a very small lead that gave Jaelynne hope. Seakata was supposedly spotted on Ilum. How and or why he was there was a mystery all on it's own, but it was a lead she fully intended to examine herself. However she would not be going on this journey alone as gained Megrybo's assistance with Grand Master Melvas' approval, something she was rather grateful for.
Strangely for once they took her own ship, as Jaelynne had put his into dock to finally be repaired. Sadly it was true about one thing, the crews would have a considerable amount of work to do. Jaelynne he knew thought the engineers were going to have several problems with the amount of damage that needed to be repaired. Megrybo just stubbornly set his chin higher and told them "Just fix the damn ship" which he knew amused Jaelynne very much as he heard giggling next to him soon after.
Jaelynne kept telling him all the time to leave things alone, that he had no clue when it came to the electrical systems specifically and offered to have it repaired if he promised to not meddle with T7's and HK's wiring for a while. He made giving her that advantage hard, but he eventually relented and felt saddened by it. That mostly had to do with his father being a skilled mechanic and technician due to his smuggler background. It was also two skills his father picked up on after he was cheated from getting his ship repaired so long ago, it was a common curtesy for Xinthiss' stubborn nature not to let anyone touch his ship afterword. Megrybo supposed it ran with all of them then. His family were a bunch of lunatics now that he thought about it.
They arrived on Ilum the next day and made their way to the Republic Waystation from the main base camp where they landed. From there they had to travel north and then west along the Eastern Ice Shelf until they found their supposed contact...an Imperial turncoat named Wesley Broderick.
Jaelynne was nervous trusting an Imperial defector, but considering he was now undercover for them as a double agent, they had to take his testimony seriously. Though it did help that Megrybo was here to help her as he made her less nervous, and anxious about whatever could happen.
"Where the hell have you been? What took you so long? Do you have any idea of the risk I'm taking here?" Wesley Broderick complained in a whiny, demanding way. It didn't help that he continued to look over his shoulder like he was really guilty. Although this turncoat had gained another name as Megrybo had decided they should call him Wesley the Weasel after they first met him.
Meg grabbed him by his overly starched Imperial collar, "Keep looking like you are guilty dumbass and it is a surefire way to blow what cover you have or already want. And be respectful to the lady Jedi, or else."
He stepped back a moment later, and noted that Jaelynne was having a hard time trying not to grin. She knew very well that he could often be hilarious, but also chivalrous. That was one of the many combinations that made him the he was; that she loved so dearly.
"Tell us everything you know about where Master Seakata is being kept." She tried to sound very detached and hoped this agent wouldn't pick up on the fact that the two Jedi were in fact lovers.
"As I was trying to tell you before the brute you brought with you decided to get rough with me...They moved him. Two days ago. And I have no idea where or how to find out. I tried to, but my clearance isn't high enough and I can't hack their overlay complicated systems. I gave that red haired banshee of an agent the information four days ago. You should have come sooner." The weasel said in a censuring manner that pissed both of them off to no ends.
"It is of no damn concern of yours where we have been." Meg grinded out with a growl, stepping forward again in a manner that made Wesley back up in complete fear.
Though he didn't relent as he knew that Jaelynne was fairly upset and just as sentimental when it came to this agent. If they were anyone else she probably would have permitted Meg to pummel this judgmental jerk until he couldn't speak anymore insults.
They had been at this for nearly months of knowing nothing, and they had been so close to finding Seakata. They had finally gotten a lead and it was too old for them to follow. The trail would eventually get cold unless they thought of something fast, and thankfully Jaelynne had just now thought of that something.
"Okay, so we lost the trail here, but there is a potential way to attempt to gain another. We need you to deliver to the waystation the comings and goings of all Imperial ships from that day that left. Uh-uh! No excuses," Jaelynne added when he went to interrupt her, but she earned a small chuckle from Meg. "I know they are pretty common knowledge and easily obtainable."
Wesley just glared at her as if though she was the definition of insanity. "And if I get caught trying to leave with them, then what?"
"You are an agent, aren't you. Spin them a story as your life likely will depend on it. Whether it be routine record keeping or checking for anomalies in shipping routes, convince them either way." Jaelynne said decisively and contently.
Megrybo was impressed by everything she was saying and merely nodded in agreement. "That just may work. He was on one of those ships, after all. We just need to figure out which one and go from there."
The two decided that they would return to the ship and await the reports to come in. When they finally did they poured over them and could not believe the amount of arrivals and departures that occurred on this day alone. They decided to focus more on the departures, but noticed the arrival of one of the most familiar ships ever. It wasn't very hard to do, considering it was in fact Thectages ship.
The two in utter shock and surprise looked at one another.
"You don't think..." Jael trailed off as she wasn't hoping this was the case.
Megrybo clenched his jaw tightly. "I most definitely do. Let's see what he gave them as a destination, shall we?"
Jaelynne sadly nodded with misery. This entire situation was getting even more complicated as the weeks went by.
Meg would undoubtedly get the truth out of Tage as he liked to torment Meg with his feats. It was something that probably had to do with their childhood where they were both competitive no ends. That didn't mean that Tage would tell them where Seakata was now, however. No, he doubted they would get that lucky considering just the person Tage had become.
Sadly they didn't. For the first time in over a year, Megrybo called Tage directly and demanded to know the truth. Tage was rather ecstatic and happy when he told them that he indeed did have Seakata for a time, but delivered him to Darth Marr, who he claimed was not only the most powerful Sith he had ever met, but he did not tell them where he would be taking Seakata from this point forward and he didn't think to ask such a thing, of damn course. Tage laughed as he hung up on them soon after, and this pissed Megrybo off more than he had been earlier.
Jaelynne cried that night, Megrybo held her and told her it would be okay-that they would find Seakata and alive, and well. He knew well that she only hoped that it would be true. Seakata was important to her and Meg knew that very well. It was something she was so grateful for in that moment of weakness, and she couldn't be more thankful for how lucky she had been with Meg entering her life.
She was just happy to have him with her going forward with this, and he couldn't agree more on the subject.
