Chapter 3: Troubling Times.

Thing's were silent, more or so silent that to Meg and Jael felt like the entire world around them went silent. Meg could tell she was horrified of hearing of this, much less speaking of it. The amount of horror he could see in both her Face, and while most sensing was too say wildly. He simply shook off the awe that was clouding him as it was clear this matter was much worse for Jaelynne then for he.

Meg never once did believe in odds or coincidences. Which was why he figured this was calculated by the Darth, but why? Why would he go to such length's and decisions even since He and Jael hadn't even at met until Tython. So why would Nixxon have interest in his younger brother, something was missing here and in time he knew they would have to try and figure it out sooner or later.

Meg cleared his throat, ready to speak, but Jael quickly looked at him and then looked away so he waited a moment. He walked over to her, sat next to her and slowly took her hand in his, clearly he was trying to be careful considering the state she was in. Her hand was shaking in his, she simply refused to look at him while she processed this, and yet he wouldn't force her too.

"Do you.." He treaded carefully, he paused and decided what to say next. "Do you have any contact with you're father, at all?"

He looked over and watched as she shook her head, Jael still refused to look directly at him. Yet he couldn't blame her, it was clear what she was going through is hitting her hard. Her earlier statement about family was clearly very touchy to her about her Father, more or so worse than it was to explain Thectage.

Regardless he sat and sighed, he held her close and heard her sigh in relief, though in return she slowly leaned her head on his chest in what he could tell was to calm her down more. The two of them sat in silence watching the sun set over the Senate Tower, but soon after he felt her shift as if though she was about to speak.

"He tried to Kidnap me on Tatooine years ago. In doing so he killed a Young Jedi Knight who tried to stop him." When she finally told him what was bothering her, he didn't know what to say at first considering the amount of pain, and horror that filled her voice was proof of that.

She soon began recalling everything that happened at that time, starting when she arrived on Tatooine and then years later when it happened, after she explained the surprise when Grand Master Satele Shan herself escorted Jaelynne to Tython, and in their journey she questioned her greatly about her past life.

"Now it all makes sense, it also means you have an almost horrible past as I do." He chuckled at that, trying to lessen the mood at the moment. It did work mostly as he felt her sigh in a laughing kind of way.

Soon after they discussed the dangers of how Meg was contacting his brother, which In term made her come up with an idea he knew of course she had one considering the way she seemed to blank out during the discussion. She told him after not to contact Tage until after she had made sure her idea worked, he agreed but was reluctant to it.

Night was approaching quicker than he could have noticed it, but it somewhat didn't surprise him as they set up their makeshift cot's on the floor in the grand hall. Jael told him that she would have new and old furniture brought in tomorrow for the Apartment, so for the night they would have to sleep on the floor. Although neither seemed to be bothered as they both kept the other warm during the night as they snuggled together during the night, one very intimate night.

******

In the Morning, it was almost as normal as any day on Coruscant at least as he could remember. The mere exception was that he was left to take on the daily mission alone, while Jaelynne was out on her little 'Mission' for her idea. All he had known was that she left earlier in the morning before he had left, at least she would be having the easier part of the day, unlike he.

He left for the Guild Stronghold which was merely a short speeder ride from the Apartment. When he arrived however it seemed to resemble the same design as any other Coruscant Skyscraper, although in the inside that was a different story. The tower was silent as always, there wasn't much activity most of the day's because of the constant mission's and assignments the newer, and even based member's of their Guild had to face every day. It didn't even strike him off for it to be this quiet around the large tower, though it was weird to be apart from Jael to go to some place like this, call him crazy but he had gotten use to going everywhere with her.

After he landed, he approached the lift that would take him up to the stronghold itself. Yet when he did reach the top he was a bit surprised not to see anyone inside for a while, he figured more of the guild who were off were exploring Courscant or were on the Flagship what he wouldn't give to have Jael here about now.

Meg looked around the Stronghold for several minutes but found No-one, so he decided to use of the terminals located in the stronghold's entrance which he knew would have new daily mission's for them if No-one else was there to give it to them. When he did login to the terminal however there was only one mission for him, and it wasn't scheduled until a few days from now the destination however was interesting...Coreilla.

The very mention of the planet brought a weird feeling on him, one was the fact that Coreilla was nothing but a warzone from what he remembered, and two the very planet was his Father's birth planet. His father never had a direct love for Coreilla except if it was for the Pirate and Smuggler Ring, or the gambling...at least what he could remember of that anyway. Coreilla might have been in Republic Territory and control, but the planet was notorious for it's wash of Smuggler's and refugee's. A planet his father made a living from before the sacking and now he fully understood why considering the amount of money he made after each contract, and the amount of enemies not to be forgetting that part.

His Father would most likely push him into rushing to the mission straight away if he were or was still alive. Though his reasoning's would still be a mystery to just about anyone why he would want that planet saved considering the only thing he had ever cared about was his family and nothing else, then again he was a Smuggler and Pirate for a time after all.

Although his mission in particular was very interesting to say at the least, the frontline outside of the Spaceport of Coreilla was receiving heavy fire from the Imperial Forces and requested assistance. Most of the Republic Forces in that list were from planet's familiar to him, Coruscant, Ord Mantell, Alderaan, and even the troops stationed on Coreilla. Then there was the one planet that was very unfamiliar to him...Onderon. This planet was unknown to him considering a fair amount made up these Onderonian's were in much of the frontlines divisions, at first he believed they were a mercenary group depending on their uniforms from the report. The troop's wore a matching blue and white uniform that looked very similar to the Republic's standard military armor, yet they were just different color's which is what gave them away as a different part of the Republic Military there.

This mission was cleared for both Meg and Jaelynne, but she was still gone on her search for her idea and the mission itself was still going to be postponed for several days. Yet it seemed for the most part today it was finally a time for some rest, apart from the time they had in Training and the time to get here from Tython he though it was good enough time to get some rest. Although he was still a bit weirded out by the fact that the Stronghold was empty, but he figured the guild council was most likely upstairs in a meeting or on the Flagship.

He decided it was time to leave and headed over toward's the lift again, the ride down was silent as was the ride back to Jaelynne's apartment. It felt weird to him considering she made it his house as much as it was her's. Though he didn't question it very much as she was very persistent about it, at least after their little talk a day before now. He supposed he would have to wait for her to return from her trip now though, he didn't think he would be doing much more than that.

*****

When Jaelynne returned from her 'Trip' she didn't delay in telling him what she left for and what result's she had brought back. As she explained he started to get mad at the very thought of letting this smuggler known as Seranda be brought into their affair and for not consulting with him about it first. Bringing in outsider's to a situation like this was just dangerous all together, it didn't matter who they were or what reputation they had of being trustworthy it was still very dangerous.

His father had once said that the more anyone knew, the greater the risk. Meg thought it was something he had learned from his day's as a smuggler considering the people he traveled with, a band of Pirates, Thieves, and Smuggler's alike. He did understand now what he meant however. Though he settled down a little and let his temper die down, he didn't want to scare her or make anything worse.

He noticed her increasing frown as he knew she could feel his anger and was worrying her, which was why he needed to calm down a little. Meg pondered for a minute of how they could get this work between them. There was darkness in him that he balanced with light, one reason he became a Jedi, and two was to try and not become his like his Father.

Jaelynne was completely fueled by the light side of the force, something he knew she wouldn't understand about him with his constant balance In the force. Though he cut his thought's short as he noticed she was silent waiting for him to speak.

"I appreciate what you did for me, Jael. However, it was foolish to do so in having a complete stranger do this for me and my brother considering how dangerous it is. I can't allow it."

At first he thought he had maybe pushed her when he noticed her eye's tearing up, but he was none the less surprised when she showed her own temper which caught him off guard completely.

He watched as she got up and stomped over to him, and yet he could see the hurt in her eye's and face as she did. This however pained his heart knowing that he was the one who brought it upon her to start with. Though he had never thought that his gentle Jaelynne would be a have a temper, crazy as it was.

"Uhm.." He stuttered, not exactly sure on how to take the situation.

He realized that his temper had almost instantly went away, and she was the one who put it out. It left a question if she was the one person who could make his anger just...go? Though it was a clear indication that he was indeed nothing like his Father.

"You listen here, Megrybo Skylighter! You will use Seranda and accept that she can be trusted, and you will get over it as well, otherwise we will not speak until you realize it is the better option." She said angrily as she stopped infront of him, hand's on hips.

He thought her hip's were lovely as he stared down at them in a sort of affectionate way, but when he went to look at her again he realized he was still in trouble.

His first thought was too try and reason with her, but when he noticed she narrowed her eye's he knew he had screwed up. Even bigger so when she pushed past him and stalked off into the ante room, which ended a moment later with Meg hearing the lift door open and then closed. She had just walked out on him.

Great going. He thought miserably.

*******

The droid seemed to be happy after the initial purchasing, though the fury of beep's, whir's and clicks it gave were constant to Megrybo. He stood there listening to the droid's constant question's, but one stood out above them all.

"Yes, I know a droid isn't a normal 'I'm sorry' gift, although it will work I'm sure of it, that and I'm sure a simple apology wont be enough." Meg spoke lowly at first and then spoke normally, with his arms crossed he looked at the T7 Astromech he had just purchased from the Coruscant droid shop in the upper city. Though the droid continued it's rant of chattering, all of which he was able to understand something else his father had taught him. Although he was thankful he wasn't like his father much, otherwise the droid would already have been stripped down in pieces.

"Thanks for the advice T7, but I think she will like you and will be happy to have you by her side. Jaelynne is a Jedi after all, so no she wont break you apart to get even with me...at that point she would be like my father." He sighed heavily as the droid beeped happily after that, but as for the rest of the trip he asked Megrybo a series of questions that made no sense. Yet they didn't faze him, nor did they annoy him.

They arrived at the apartment, two days after she stopped talking to him. It was very quiet those two days, so he decided to finally get over it as Jael suggested before. She was right however, the way's he and Tage were communicating now was too dangerous, far too dangerous. He didn't like adding more people to this, but he trusted her judgment...he always had.

When they took the lift up, the droid went silent as he waited. Meg couldn't blame him, but smiled when he knew he wanted to make a good impression, he could only hope so.

Yet when the door opened he saw Jaelynne standing there, arms folded, foot tapping, and with that look on her face. She looked down at the droid who had silver, gold, and blue paint that made him stand out. Her expression softened on T7 has he rolled out and met with her, introducing himself and explaining that Megrybo had purchased him to assist her in her adventures.

He watched as she patted the droid head and thanked him for his offer of service, then she turned to Meg who still was standing at the threshold of the lift. She seemed warmer then she was before, but he could tell she was still a bit mad and was waiting.

Meg sighed and finally took off his mask, she had made it a rule that he would have to take it off whenever he was in the apartment...not like he had a choice, considering he loved her and two he couldn't deal with her being mad again.

"You're right, I'm sorry, please forgive me." He said after with a look that seemed miserable, but when he looked at her she seemed to go back to her normal self, though he was glad to see her smile again. How he had missed her looking at him like that.

Though clearly all was forgiven especially when she threw herself into his arms, which completely caught him off guard at first until he dwelled into the situation. He noticed T7 spinning happily, before stalking off to explore his new home.
