Chapter 2: One Past lead's to a Darker one.

Meg looked over at Jael as the two of them stood with the rest of their peer's. She was smiling as was he as they stood in the council chambers of the Temple on Tython. Today was their Graduation day from their studies and other training's on Tython, meaning they would become Jedi Knight's of the Order. However most did not make it to this stage, a Third would not graduate as Melvas Skybolt had told them. Some would leave on their own, other's would just fail and be told to leave, but more would die in the mishaps of training here.

Some gave up on their own, many not confident in their abilities unlike He and Jael, who had proven many times while they were here. Jael had mentioned meeting a Mon Calamari man who just given up on his second try of Training to become a Jedi, which in term failed miserably considering he wasn't as touched in the force as they were.

The rest stayed behind stubbornly, most not wishing to leave as a sign of their defiance. He recalled most were people that had spoken, gossiped, or made rude gestures to he and Jael. He could not tell if she was as glad as he was they would not become Jedi, but he could tell from the grin she had earlier that morning.

Then there was the flesh raider's and the other beast's that cause mayhem, and more importantly death when many of the Padawan's were training or studying in the remote field's and forest's of Tython. Many of their original group had perished to these monster's and beast's while they were out of the temple, however it was upsetting to hear about a Padawan's demise after returning to the Temple...something they heard too much over their time here.

However that was behind them now as it was finally their turn to become Jedi Knight's like so many before them. The few of them stood before Tython's Grand Council and the Guild's that had 'Adopted' the soon to be Jedi Knight's, each of them looked at each other and smiled. Though when the others gaze at Meg they simply turned back, seemingly still fearful of him from the start of their training here. However after he sighed in desperation, he felt someone tug his hand, but found it to be Jael or looked up and smiled at him. At least before she let go and stood at attention when one of the Master's looked over.

Meg nodded to his master Evanias Blane, and Jaelynne smiled at her master Seakata Cathai after the council member's, and Grand Master Satele had given their speeches to the Padawan's as a sign that they had fulfilled their right to become Jedi. The Jedi master's soon after began their 'claiming' of their Padawan's, each at a time however to allow the Grand Master to promote them. They each walked off the stage to the reception area to wait for the other's and the closing ceremony. A small but brief party was thrown and Meg was fine with that, he never was the party type and figured he would probably never would be, his father was the same way he recalled. At least Meg wasn't half insane when he was young however.

Though when the party was over, the newly Knighted Jedi's were lead to several different docking bay's to take a shuttle to their awaiting new guild's flagship. This was the first time they would leave Tython since the beginning of their training, and they were ready.

Evanias Blane and Seakata Cathai accompanied their former Padawan's, who were still under their charge and care, and proceeded to the Imperial Demise's flagship where they would soon be off to Carrick Station, and then on to their new temporary home....Coruscant.

During the trip however, Meg was alone for sometime. Though he was in the starboard recreational area...he noted Jaelynne as she stared out the viewport as if she was lost in thought. If anyone else wasn't here he would have gone over to her and tried to soothe her, but regardless he knew she needed time to herself. He could understand that as well considering where they were heading. To say he wasn't feeling the same way, was a bit of an understatement though.

****

Carrick Station, it was something Meg had never seen before, neither did Jael apparently from the way she was viewing the very large station that their ship had docked at. Carrick station was known to many as simply The Republic Fleet  which only got it's name due to it resting in the core world's and the Station was the most fitted to hold back the Empire from the Core World's, an iron wall so to speak. It seemed the majority of the Republic Fleet came here for Repair's, and fueling considering the Station was immensely massive in size to support them.

The mere fact why it taken him in surprise was because from all of his Father's stories, not once did he ever hear of this fleet. That is unless this fleet never even existed until after his time and a short time before the sacking of Coruscant. The reason why they were here to begin with was because their Guild's flagship The Immortal Guardian was docked for repairs and refueling from an asteroid incident on their way to Coruscant. Which of course meant that anyone on board said ship would be allowed to have free time until the repair's and fueling were over. Though he would have preferred to stay on the ship until the repair's were done, until Jael 'Insisted' he come with her. Undoubtingly and truthfully he could never say no to her, he knew she would do the same....well mostly.

They took the elevator down to the 'Ring' of the fleet, where merchant's in the outer ring and entertainment in the inner ring kept the life on the Station there bustling a lot of the time. Ironically many could get lost in the shops or cantinas, most never being sure what time it was after spending so much time on the Station. It surley didn't help that the Station's Ring never closed it never had and never would close, supposedly.

Meg didn't know what to do when they exited the elevator however, when they did they were met by many people from around the galaxy. The reason why was because they treated Megrybo and Jaelynne with more respect then they were used too, which was why they were disconcerting of them shaking their hand's. Though eventually they got used to it and started to side-step people infront of them with a courteous nod. The amount of people he could call were Human, Cathar, Twi'lek, Zabrak, Chiss, Mon Calamari, Mirialan, Togruta, Miraluka, Rattataki, and another species known as Quarren, which he assumed was another race from the Mon Calamari Homeworld, he wasn't sure though. Either way there were more species here then they originally thought, he could tell when he looked over at Jaelynne who seemed to be in awe still after. Though to them both it was humbling as they were treated with respect, unlike how they were treated by other's during their training on Tython, these people certainly gave their respect and trust to any Jedi apparently.

Their master's had told them about what a Jedi meant to the public, meaning you were very well respected and liked almost as a Celebrity. The two of them didn't realize the truth of those word's until they had disembarked from the Flagship.

Both decided finally to go to the more secluded upper cantina on the Inner Ring, an area where anyone could be by themselves on the fleet, unlike the Cantina below them. They found a table and waited while a Astromech serving droid took their order before anything else. When they were finally server, Meg looked at Jael in an intently way, which of course made her nervous. He watched silently as she looked around before returning her gaze to him.

"What is it?" She asked outright.

He felt uncomfortable about bringing it up now, and he could tell she knew that. She knew him too well to begin with, the same could be said for him since he knew her too well as well.

"I have to tell you some thing's. About my Family..." He trailed off uncomfortably.

Jaelynne leaned forward, a smile on her face, which of course made him a little less uncomfortable.

"First, you don't have to tell me right now if you don't want to. Second, it won't change a thing about how I feel. Lastly, I also have something to tell you about my family; specifically my Father to be honest." She said in what he could tell was disgust in the last bit.

Meg sighed however, he was still worried. He figured her family history couldn't have been nearly as bad as his own. He hated to have to tell her, but at the same time he wanted her to know and to understand what she would be getting into if their hidden relationship were too continue. He loved her, and he knew she felt the same way...especially when she had surprised him once when she that he was her life, and the only thing she would live for, could she tell that he felt the same way? His question was already answered moment's after that discussion week's earlier.

"You asked me when we first met why Satele Shan favored me more than any other student at our time, and I need to tell you why now. Satele Shan for a time before she became the Grand Master was the Master of my Mother. My parent's were Bonny and Xinthiss Skylighter."

"I was born to parents both of which were Jedi. Both who were trained on Tython and served the Order for a short time. They managed to end up living on Coruscant, working, and even stayed there after they left the Order. My mother had gotten pregnant with me, and was outed when she started showing."

"My Parents had gotten married secretly and lived together for a long time before her pregnancy was discovered and was noted that she was not alone. When they had found out about her pregnancy, they did a look back at who was the closest to her during her training on Tython and so they put two and two together, in a week's time after they were both stripped of their Jedi titles. My father had a hard time with it more than my mother, but her love and their friends were very supportive. Dad's best friend shared as many connection's as he knew of to help him, and in doing so he was able to take odd job's for the Republic, and a lot of them weren't for the Republic he was more a Smuggler than he was a Jedi. Which was why he set down his lightsaber and picked up a gun in it's stead...despite him still carrying one, he still never used it."

He stopped to let her take in everything he had just said. He waited, and held his breath starting to believe that she may not like the fact they were following in his parent's footsteps. Though if they were indeed following their footstep's, he would be determined to make it work.

She was silent for a long time and Megrybo started to get nervous and worried. He simply sat and waited for her to speak, clearly not knowing what she was thinking.

"Well" She said finally. "I can relate as my own Father was a Jedi as well. I told you how my mother was a Senator on Coruscant, but I purposely left out my father because I'm conflicted on how to tell you about him. All I can say is that it was discovered that he and my Mother were in love and in doing so he was stripped of his Knighthood. In the end it made him bitter, angry, and completely lost himself with those he cared for, though in the end my mother told him to leave and never return."

Meg sat back in relief, realizing they had far more in common then he had anticipated.

"Wow. I bet that wasn't easy for you at the time." He said softly and in a way very caring, one that she knew meant that he truly did mean what he said.

"I never knew my father to be honest, mainly because he left when I was three and I barley remember him." She spoke lightly, almost as he did before.

Though when she stopped, he knew she was holding something back he just didn't want to pry her of it. This was somewhat difficult for them both he knew, and he wouldn't dare pry her of something that she wanted to keep hidden. The same could be said for him as he tried to think of a way to keep his little brother out of the story, so instead he went on to finish the rest of his families story.

"My dad was away on a job during the Sacking happened. I an- ahem. I barley made it out, but took his old ship the 'Phoenix' a very old ship at it's time and fled, I saw my mother get killed that day and I could never forget it." He spoke quietly and tried to avoid her eye's as he left out a good chunk of the actual story. He knew however that she wouldn't pry anything from him, and respected that.

In return Jael nodded with an understanding frown. Meg decided however that it would be best to change the subject, and she was completely fine with that.

They spent the rest of the day after talking and exploring the Fleet, buying little trinkets at vendors stalls and looking for better gear and other equipment. Before they knew it however, it was time to return to the ship. When they did the two stood side by side this time at the starboard viewport and quietly contemplated the return to their home world.

*****

The Immortal Guardian docked at the Coruscant Spaceport in the hub of Galactic City. Around them personal and professional speeder's and other craft's speeded zoomed and zipped around the skies of Galactic City with alarming speed that was somewhat normal on the city capital of the Republic.

Coruscant was the Capital City of the Galactic Republic which meant it was very busy no mater where you went on the planet. Meg noticed the amount of awe that was coming from Jaelynne as they stared out at the cities, yet he noticed the brief smile she had given him when she had noticed his awe at the Capital City as well.

They were working hard on trying to avoid gaining attention where their romance was concerned with advice from their new guild mates, and even Evanias Blaine and Seakata Cathai. Meg could tell Jaelynne was surprised when she had learned that Seakata was secretly married to a woman known as Tia. She and Tia became fast friends during the ship's course from Tython to Coruscant. He didn't mind and simply let them speak while he tagged along, they both saw the love that the two shared for each other and how they hid it whenever they were in public, that counted in the fleet as well.

They reminded him of his parent's before the Sacking, the most notable fact he remembered about his parent's was they never argued once when they lived together as family...he simply figured they never argued with each other not even in the Academy, that was saying something from the way his Father was compared to how his Mother was in return.

The two of them ran into Seakata and Tia while they were walking and exploring the city outside the Spaceport, which they all walked together and observed each other on how they avoided shows of public affection and instead replaced it with a friendly and far less personal partnership.

Soon they had found themselves at the Guild Flagship once more they along with the four other recruits stood before Seakata and Evanias, along with several others mostly Knight's and Master's. The guild's name had been changed prior to their meeting here, hence they were no longer called Imperial Demise and rather now they were known as the Guardians

Seakata cleared his throat and addressed the new recruits. "I've taken the liberty of already uploading direction's to the guild's Stronghold, which as you know is located here on Coruscant within Galactic City."

Evanias stepped forward and spoke so they all could hear. "You are to report there for you're orientation and starting assignment's. After you have been introduced to the bulk of the assembly, you will be given you're training regimen and then may take personal time for the rest of the day."

Budaru Gunzhi, the guild's battlemaster looked at them sternly. "Don't imbibe overly much. There will be no excuses for tardiness and absentees, nor will it be enough of an excuse to exempt you from my training regimen at 04:30. Show up or I will rip you out of bed and beat the snot out of you're green faces. Dismissed!"

Melvas who was mostly silent, simply nodded and brushed past them all. The other's followed suite leaving him, Jael, and the other four standing there...at least until he heard one of the other's mumble under his breath. Which in term made Budaru come back second's later, before they could even tell what happened next, Meg put an arm around Jael and turned her around so they both exited the room. Defiance like that reminded him of his father, a loose cannon who took order's from No-one but himself, and at times if Bonny kept him at bay.

He was fortunate to not be like him after all.

****

They met most of the Guild at the assembly and were given their schedules and assignment's. It wasn't going to be very easy, they both knew this as they looked over their's. Budaru was a taskmaster who wanted every Jedi under his command to keep up with their physical training on the downtime and to make sure no-one could escape it. He treated them as if though they were in a boot camp for Soldier's in the military. Meaning you had to earn his respect and, truth to be told, it wasn't easy from the look's of it.

After Megrybo went with Jaelynne to the Senate Tower, she said that some of her Mother's old friends and allies still on the Senate or working near it had requested they speak with her when she was free.

When they arrived he let her explain everything that happened to her after the Sacking, meanwhile he stood near one of the pillars that lined the wall's of the room. He simply leaned on it and crossed his arm's, but sometime during it he noticed some of the younger women in the group peered at him, which in turn made them stop after Jaelynne gave them a glance after.

She finally asked of the one assassin who had no reason to assassinate her mother when she was in office, and the result's were not what she wanted. Yet just when thing's were about to wrap up an aid walked up and spoke to her about her mother's apartment, asset's, and properties were her's to claim.

When the talk's were complete, Meg and Jael left with her holding a datapad signifying her claims to redeeming and claiming ownership of her mother's former properties.

"Are you okay?" he asked quietly as they moved through the crowded city.

She nodded, still reviewing the information. "I didn't expect to inherit anything. I should have, but I didn't..."

"I know I should probably go check on my own family's assets. I am pretty sure the home was completely destroyed though and the assets were liquidated. My father probably took off with whatever was left or if he's still alive, but maybe he did leave something behind for us."

She looked up and suddenly he knew she had caught the last word. "Us?"

He soon realized his Mistake and began to regret it before she said anything. He was going to discuss it with her soon anyway, but this was not how he wanted it to go..

"I...have a Brother. He is younger than me. We need to go somewhere. I can't talk about this here." He said, looking around them in a very nervous state.

Her signature brow frown appeared yet again, but to ease him she said. "Okay. Let's find somewhere private to talk."

However when they searched they never could find a suitable place, Meg didn't feel comfortable anywhere they went, which finally gave Jaelynne an idea.

"Let's go to my old home. My Mother's-Rather now my apartment will be safe."

*****

When they arrived at the mostly barren apartment, Meg could tell Jael was reacting violently to returning here. He started to feel bad that they came here so sudden, but when he held her when she started to worsen she turned and smiled at him before she settled down and remembered her life before the Sacking.

Soon she shook her head and took him out to the Balcony after their walkthrough of the apartment. They stood overlooking the Galactic City's busiest hub, Meg began to tell the tale of his brother.

"My parent's had Tage two years after me. When I Mentioned before that I escaped, it was actually with him that I did so."

"We both saw our mother get crushed under the roof of the house. We were playing outside when she was coming back with laundry, when hell broke loose. Bomb's started dropping all around and one hit the house."

"We both stood stunned, we knew what happened. After what felt like an hour of staring, I took Tage and got us out of their. We found the 'Phoenix' like I said and it was barley in any good shape from both the Bombing and her old age, regardless I got us off this planet."

He was having some difficulty speaking while telling her the story, but when he felt her grab his hand and put it to her chest he knew she was trying to comfort him. It certainly helped.

"Go on" She encouraged.

"We roamed...until we reached Nar Shadaa."

"My god, of all places...."

"Yeah, regardless it was all we could find, the Phoenix was almost out of power and was going to drift after." Meg drawed out drolly.

They both went quiet, before he started to speak again.

"I sent Tage out to gather supplies and more part's to repair the ship, we didn't want to keep the ship unintended since it was That planet. He never returned after."

"No!" She stated, Alarmed.

"I stayed looking for him after, for so long I looked until someone told me that he was gone, and I'd never see him again. Found out he was taken to be trained as a Sith, I blamed myself for it for so long I blamed only myself."

She placed her head on his shoulder where she leaned next to him to make him believe that she understood what he was going through. "I'm so sorry. It wasn't you're fault though, you were Kid's, Meg. Is he still alive...do you know?"

"Oh yeah." He said with an obvious frown in his voice. "He's a sith lord, Jael."

She sucked in a breath and backed up slightly. "Do...you have any contact with him?"

He wouldn't lie to her, not ever to her. "Yes. Not usually in person. It's too dangerous to do so otherwise, so I use secure channel's to do so."

"Meg, that is still very Dangerous." Jael warned, very worried.

"What was I supposed to do, not speak to only Family I may have left?"

"I'm not judging you, Meg. Relax. If I was in you're situation I would do the same. Family is Family." She wanted him to know that she understood and was worried of the thought of him being discovered rather than the one of him talking to his brother in general. "That relationship can't be a very easy one though."

"No. It certainly isn't. He currently work's under a Darth that pulled him nearly right away after he completed his training. Tage told me he had a keen interest. It worries me. Only because I can't seem to find anything about this Darth Nixxon that is my brother's master."

Whatever happened next he didn't know if those word's were what caused Jael to almost have an entire panic attack, it was clear when she started shouting no multiple times, her breathing became ragged, and she gripped the railing on the balcony to hold her up, but it didn't stop her from grabbing her shoulder's a concerned look on his face.

"What the matter?" He looked at her as she looked at him, with misery in her eye's.

"Meg...Darth Nixxon is my father."
