Chapter 15: Megrybo the Dark (Part 1)

The first thing that he noticed was the obvious pounding in his head, and the clear amount of blood that was now staining the metal floor. The second thing that he noticed was that he was angry enough to kill...and strangely his bare hands were enough to do that. What and why was this happening? One moment he was talking to Tage and the next he was put in a cell with a very messy injury. It was cleaned up, but for what considering what was being done to him now.

When the door to the first cell he was being held in opened, he was expecting Tage, but was honestly surprised when someone claiming to be some obscure Sith Lord he had never heard of told him he was being put into his custody and that he was aware he was a Jedi. Meg thought to protest, physically of course in that sense, but the Sith anticipated it and had guards already binding him before he was done spewing out his words to Megrybo. Only weeks later did he begin to curse his brother and the Sith that had to be working for him, or so he thought.

His torturer was getting sloppy...or he was simply just getting desperate from what he could determine. Meg wasn't sure which but he reveled with grim satisfaction that he gave up nothing. One of the things he noticed was that his bonds were not as tight as previous sessions, and he believed he could use this to his advantage. The questions were getting odder; it was almost as if though the twi'lek had no idea who Meg was to Tage exactly. The only question he kept being asked was what Tage and Nixxon were up to, but that was something he did not know either, sadly.

Meg had no idea that his brother was not behind this, but he was furious with Tage at the moment. He couldn't believe that his own flesh and blood; his brother could even do this to him, he was hurt beyond belief. Despite their differences in faction, they were still brothers, and family didn't do this to one another. It was mostly the pain and the anger towards his brother that began his slow return and descent into darkness something he had bottled up long ago. He swore to himself that he would never go down that path again, for Jaelynne and for his father as well, but here he was devising the most hateful and painful ways of his own retribution against Tage and Nixxon who was clearly helping him according to Jael's vision.

Jael. He wondered if she was worried about his absence, but knew she probably was after some time. Time itself had been lost to him as he had no idea how long he had been a captive. By now, she had to be very worried and if he was certain maybe searching end and low to find him. That thought alone made him chuckle, but even that pained him due to his injuries. Meg tried to reach her through her dreams and the Force to let her know that he was still clinging to life, and not exactly well. He wasn't sure if she was hearing him; he had no proof she could even feel his thoughts and he never tried to project to her before like that. They were connected on a level most did not fully understand, so he knew that if anyone could and would hear him, she would.

He just had to hope that the opportunity his loose bonds provided would prove useful so that he could return to her. Right now that was mostly just what he wanted most, to be right with her again. Although in the state he was in currently she probably would hunt down whoever did this too him and make them suffer.

Meg had looked and felt better. His hair was soaking from some blood that had dripped from it, and his skin was searing and smoking still from the most recent session with the twi'lek Sith. The fresh new cut's and slashes on his body also pointed out just as to why there was so much blood on the ground as well. It was a messy scene even for a normal person to digest and he figured if his friends found him like this...well it would be worse than Seakata he reckoned.

Taking a breath he slowly and weakly focused on one of the bonds that was keeping him in place, and before he knew it the bond was broken. The second was soon to follow. Along with Meg crashing to the floor within a moment of just being released. He blinked a few times trying his hardest to just remain conscious, but was a fair to weak to even do that hardly. That was until finally he just succumbed to darkness.

Literally and force wise.

The Guardians were seemingly distraught, and very sporadic when word of Meg's disappearance had gotten out. Although they all couldn't be as worried or distraught as Jaelynne. Things for her were getting worse and worse as the days turned into weeks, and his absence was strangely being felt around the guild. It was mostly the case for his home back with Jaelynne and the droids who were all obviously missing him dearly.

Grand Master Melvas had actually given permission for anyone to look for Meg in the spite of him even being abducted or taken prisoner by the Empire. It was something that made many within their guild do so really, and many were usually looking for a sign or clue on where he would or might be. Sadly no one was able to even come up with any information or leads on where he could be, except Jael. The clues and the signs that he had been projecting did manage to reach her through her dreams and she had been vocal in expressing that something or anything needed to be done.

Given with what she was presenting it was rather damning that he was possibly captured and was being tortured as they spoke. Although who to blame was really up in the air right now anyway. So while the Guardians tried their hardest to find even the slightest lead on to where their compatriot was.

However they were not the only ones who apparently searching for Megrybo. There were a few of their guild's friends who joined the search as well; one of which included Roman Cell. While the onderonian wasn't exactly in the full search, he did supply his support and supplies from his own wealth and power to his friend Jaelynne who he respected completely in the search. Even though he had just recently received the promotion to General on his home planet, it didn't exactly help in how limited his manpower was compared to the Guardian's. The most he could even supply in terms of ships was a few fighter's, and bombers along with a single Thranta Class Corvette that came into his procession along with his promotion.

That was until finally something rather strange happened. Something that allowed him to finally get a lead on where Megrybo could be, and even more shockingly it came from some unknown individual he was unfamiliar with. The man's name was even more confusing as the name was Thectage he believed it was. It didn't really say much other than that he wished for Roman to pass on the holo call to his friend Jaelynne. While he was concerned at first with this request, the onderonian agreed, but even that agreement was shaky at best.

Thankfully it didn't take long for his request for a transmission to reach through to his friend, but it was obvious she was not alone wherever she was. It didn't surprise Roman however and he simply just relayed the information before allowing the man known as Thectage to speak. Unsurprisingly it seemed he did know them all, and quite well if he was going to be honest...lovely.

It seemed this man or rather as he eventually revealed himself as a Sith, had information on a dreadnought that was lingering far to closely to the core worlds. Something however did not sit right with Roman as he listened to the man speak, but he thought nothing of it as he and almost everyone else knew that they would take whatever they could get. The information itself detailed that the Imperial dreadnought in question was a Harrower Dreadnought named the Fulcrum which was quite unusual really. Just by the simple mentioning of the ship being near the core worlds was something questionable as well. The entire ordeal was something that they had to worry and be concerned about.

This Thectage was clearly being very discreet on the information that he was giving Roman, and his new found friends. It was rather obvious that he was either trying to play them, or he was actually telling the truth and had very little information concerning the ship. Although having information about a prisoner's whereabouts or even having the prisoner themselves on a ship like that was also a little too unnatural, if you were asking him of course. Alone this situation seemed like either a trap, or the sith that had taken Megrybo was finally getting sloppy. Hopefully his friends would finally act, and if not then he and his men would instead.

Fortunately it seemed that chance or decision would be made finally. As Thectage concluded his 'report', the sith had seemingly ended the transmission faster than he had actually called them. Typical sith. That was at least the thought that was lingering around most of the bridge staff on board Roman's corvette, and even he would agree.

"Do any of you actually think that man is telling the truth?" Roman replied as soon as the transmission with the guardians continued.

"It's hard to say, but we will take whatever we can at the moment." Melvas responded as he himself seemed tired from this entire situation. It was clear that from the way that many people pondered and conversed around him, that this was their leader, that was what Roman deduced.

"Indeed. So when do we depart?" Roman replied as he slowly crossed his arms behind his back. However his statement did not go unnoticed as it seemingly surprised a few members of the group in the holo frame, specifically the ones known as Melvas, Budaru, Krofu, and of course Jaelynne.

"We?" The grand master spoke almost confusingly as even he was stunned by the sudden and direct statement that came from the onderonian's mouth.

"Well yes, it makes sense considering that I do consider Megrybo to be my friend, but I also do owe him and Jaelynne a debt for helping me and my career on Corellia." He seemingly nodded his head toward Jael through the hologram. Thankfully she returned it with a smile and soon confirmed that Roman was trustworthy and would help them throughout this ordeal if needed.

Melvas had agreed to allow Roman and his small and rather tight fleet to accompany them to engage the Fulcrum. The Galia's Light as the corvette was called, was already in preparation to engage the Imperial's at a notice, and it did just a few minutes later. Once the transmission was complete. Roman ordered the corvette to begin a hyperspace jump to the preset coordinates to where they would encounter the Imperial dreadnought.

Both sides regardless of which ship were obviously having the exact same thought. That they would find and help their friend in any way they could, but they would have to find him first. Even if they had to die trying.

It was said by some that once one reaches a certain point, there is no inevitable or redeemable return. There were in fact people like Revan, Xinthiss, and now even Megrybo were all proof of the falsehood of that singular belief. One could go back to what they were before. Whether that was a good thing or not, was always a uncertainty for some.

Sadly to many, Meg had welcomed the return of the darkness he had once suppressed so long ago. Rather he had put it on a mental pedestal at the moment anyway. As his bonds were broken, he let himself feel the power of the Dark side that had somewhat lingered after all this time. With it he let it forth with a rush of headiness that he had strangely missed. Meg would not feel shame nor dishonor in using his darkness despite what the teachings of the Jedi had thought him to his current path. Sometimes it was very necessary to use the Darkness when it came down to just pure survival. Although it should be used rarely, it was still necessary in the long run. That was the entire point he was had been trying to make Grand Master Melvas and the Council see. Power was a privilege; and with privilege came responsibility and accountability. Jedi or Sith; one of, neither, or perhaps both- it was something he'd always believed in. He would no longer hide or dampen it any longer.

There was little hesitation in his stride as he bludgeoned his guards to death by hand and beyond recognition, even if it was one after another. It was no remorse, nor regret with what he did. Sometimes one needed the darkness just to survive, and right now was one of those times. Strangely, he was one of the very few Jedi that ever existed that knew of this. For right now, his hero, his icon Revan was the model that he wanted to emulate in the scenario alone.

Upon his escape from the holding cell, he soon found his clothing and sabers within one of the cabinets in the storage room and took them. In this state, his true intent was to search for and destroy Lord Shian'Xu. So he simply hung back in waiting; wanting a murderous piece of his utterly depraved, sickly green Twi'lek torturer. Meg was determined to return every scrape, slice, bruise, and shred the man had given him for that man truly did deserve it right about now. The thought of what his friends or even Jael would say about the state he was in did cross his mind once. For those said scrape's, slices, bruises, and shred's had left serious marks to his body, possibly leaving permanent scarring and wounds that had miraculously healed after he thought that he would bleed out from the amount of blood that was lost. However now was a matter of personal revenge against the one who inflicted this pain. Oh yes, Shian'Xu would know the true meaning of the term 'torture' by the time Meg was done with him.

After it would be his dear brother and his future father-in-law's turns, and that pleased him as well.

******

Meg did not make it too far outside of Kaas City before he was being hounded by some agent who was vigorously trying his hardest to stop him. He had busted his ass to get beyond Kaas City and he was not going back under any circumstances. Meg's only regret was that Shian'Xu was not in the city at the moment. Oh, but he would find that Sith one day, and when he did...

Thankfully he remembered the layout of the city from the previous 'visit' as it was hard enough to go unnoticed. Meg had managed to make it through...barely. Then this agent was coming at him, chasing him down then blocking his way down the wild path that he knew led to the spaceport and his only way out of this accursed place. If only he could get rid of this pest problem first.

"Please..." he begged in a nasally Imperial voice, trying to catch his breath. "Your brother sent me to find and liberate you from whatever place you were being held in."

That one sentence was enough to stop Meg momentarily. He then slowly turned to the Fixer, laughing humorlessly.

"I freed myself thank you very much. My brother? He sent you. To find me. After he had me tortured, and he expects me to go back and what? Thank him, huh?" Meg bit out in pieces clearly running out in anger.

The agent's eyes widened at the violence emanating from the man in front of him, almost matching his Lord Thectage's anger and rage. He was confused because he was told this brother was a jedi, and would not be anything like Thectage. "Sir, I have no idea where you got any of that nonsense from, but I can assure you without hesitation that my lord, your brother had you in protective custody even before everything that happened. The one at fault was Lord Shian'Xu who took you from my lord's care and did those horrible things to you. Think about it for one moment-you were cared for quite well until the point of when you were 'transferred' and when Shian'Xu captured you from under our noses."

Meg was seemingly turning around until he heard the emphasis on the word 'protective' come from the agent. Tage took him to 'protect' him from what exactly? That was what Meg was truly wondering. As pestering and annoying as this Fixer was, the man did have some merit as he spoke about the things that had gone downhill only after Shian'Xu took him. The validity in what the agent said, was quite high considering that for the first week or so of torture, Meg believed that Tage couldn't have done all of that. Question was, why did Tage just take him the way he did instead of...ah. Yeah, he'd have told him to screw. His little brother did know far too well, or it was because of some other reason, perhaps?

He wondered if any or some Sith had finally managed to find out about his and Tage's connection and that what was probably why Lord Shian'Xu took him. They had themselves to blame-meeting all too frequently and publicly as of late. Meg sighed tiredly, at least he still had one sense of himself lingering.

"So, say I beleive you," he responded suspiciously, but was already deciding that he did. "What makes you think that I wish to be in his care? Or that I will meekly follow you back as well?"

The Fixer seemed to look around nervously as any snobbish and cowardly Imperial would. They both knew that despite the fact that they were alone in the jungle, the agent refused to talk loudly. It seemed to be his nature of course as any good operative would know that just about anything from creature, grass, rock, or tree had ears.

"I was not instructed to bring you back to my Dark Lord, Jed-um, sir. He only wishes for me to ensure you are free and back among your...people." The agent said, but with some hesitation that seemed to linger on the people part.

"I see." In all truth, Meg really didn't. To be 'protected' then seemingly thrown to the wolves with only a meager and weak Fixer to assist him...

"I have arranged everything and have secured a shuttle for you to take so you can leave Dromund Kaas. I will follow in my own to ensure you reach the border of Imperial and Republic space accordingly." The agent whispered; lower still with the last four words in particular. By just how this man spoke it would seem that a bird chirp would frighten him right now.

"Oh, please carry on then by all means." Meg said, sarcastically of course. The darkness that was swelling in him was progressing further and he was beyond caring by this point if it got anymore out of control. A shuttle? He didn't think so. No, he would find another means besides a fragile shuttle to get him off this rock, he was damn certain about that.

******

It was much later when Meg had arrived at the star port and eyed the very target that he was searching for. He saw five crew members hanging about and knew the others were already on the ship. They were most likely waiting for their Lord and Master to captain them. Well, here he was then, he thought with a twisted smile that was very uncanny of himself.

He walked forth from the brush that had been lingering in, but his arrogance and dark energy was quite clear to everyone before him.

"Is this my ship then?" he asked to particularly no one, but it did in fact gain the attention of the clearly clueless members of the crew.

"My Lord, it must be so. Welcome to the Dauntless. We are ready to depart on your orders, sir." The officer of the group spoke in a calm demeanor, but did not lack respect as he bent over in some clear fear as well.

Meg simply nodded, as if thought he was in another thought. He was smart to have decided to block the comms incase of any, incoming interference. Meg knew his deceit would only take moments to figure out. Although it was easy to hack the comms in the first place...especially since it wasn't the first time he had done so. He preceded the remaining crew up the ramp and into the immense dreadnought. Along with this he would only need to use Force persuade on the vessels bridge crew because they were the only ones who knew that he was not Lord Dominus.

He made it known they would be running silent on comms and that only he would have access to them. Thinking that he was a Dark lord of the Sith, no one would argue of that point. That or some were smart enough not to voice their own opinions on the matter. He approached the bridge deck and knew if anywhere there would be any issue it would be there.

Meg strode in confidently, pushing his Force outward to encompass the entire bridge crew. They all stopped and looked naturally, feeling the waves of darkness coming from him. Some however realized right away that he was not who they were expecting.

An Imperial soldier who seemed to be a veteran stepped forward. "Who are you?" he demanded, somewhat hesitating as he felt the other man's Dark Energy.

Meg looked at him, waving him aside. The man had the brains to bend in half and step aside further instead of seeking a death wish.

The rest looked at him, some questioning who he was mentally although they never voiced it, but Meg simply looked at him with a twisted grin, only using Force Persuade to further his brief words.

"I am your new Master now. You may simply call me "My lord." Obey me or die. I shall not repeat myself."

To make the point clear to them all, he force lifted the young woman closest to him, Force choking her for only seconds before snapping her neck quickly.

The rest who seemed terrified, went into a flurry on activity, not even daring to question the man in front of them again.
