Chapter 12: Friends in arms.

The guardians as a whole seemed to relax after what felt like an eternity once Seakata was brought back to them. Tiariffic was possibly the most excited to see the return of her husband as she had been waiting anxiously in the hangar bay at the fleet for the flagship to return. As expected they received Seakata soon after and were understandably shaken by the bad shape he was in. Everyone knew that he would be in a Kolto tank for a while and that most likely scared Tia more than anything.

Jaelynne and several others that were close friends with Tia had decided to stay and help her through this little bit of time. So that meant that Meg would most likely be on his own for the night following, and possibly to the morning after. Although for that night only he wouldn't complain as he knew that Jael was needed elsewhere right now, and that was something he wouldn't pry her away from.

The same would be said for task today. Considering that Megrybo would not be assisting in something like that, he had to take responsibility and go on missions alongside Budaru, Evanias, and others in the wake of their most prominent members being indisposed and busy at that moment. That meant that Meg would have to take two assignments at a time, and as for the other's well the same was going for everyone.

His task was less than stellar however. Meg was being tasked with stopping the Empire's push into Quesh and their production of super-adrenals made of noxious venom the planet naturally produced. Just by hearing the name of Quesh it made Meg cringe as he knew just how bad the planet was, but he was duty bound to complete his task and he would without question.

If only he had known what he was getting into when he arrived on the planet.

Things had gone awry left and right once he had arrived on the planet and got to work. While he did manage to free several groups of slaves and managed to shut down two mines in total, he was eventually pinned down by several groups of Imperials. He was certain that he could take down several of them at that moment, but when more groups started arriving only then did he know that he was outmatched.

That was until he noticed the stray fire coming from his own direction. Although while he thought at first that the blaster fire was directed towards him and granted for him to believe it. Thankfully the blaster fire was directed towards his enemies, who at the same time now had their target sight set on the new player in the field. It wasn't very hard for Megrybo to notice just who this new assailant was as the man in question was hiding behind the same huge boulder that Meg was hiding behind.

The hunter who was just as surprised as Megrybo gave him a quick nod before speaking, "Hello, Jedi. I am Atilla. Look's like we both have run into a little trouble. Care to team up to get rid of these band of idiots?" he regarded to the Imperial squad's that were currently splitting in two to attack them.

"Really?" Meg said with disbelief.

Meg looked closer at him. Bounty hunters were used by almost everyone granted, but they were known to support the Empire or the criminal underworld of the galaxy. This bounty hunter however was huge...at least slightly over seven feet tall and had a muscular mass to match it, which made even Meg and his strapping form look like a dwarf. His long and straight black hair, hard whitish eyes, and savvy beard made him look downright deadly as well. Meg knew this man was a good one to have on your six in any kind of fight. He wondered where this hunter got the hulking green, grey, and yellow armor from and how he was able to move as fast as he did with it- it must be difficult to find anything to fit someone of his size and caliber he reckoned.

"Listen, Jedi... the only reason I am on the opposing side of the Republic is because there are far too many Republic regulations for people like me that would make it impossible to do almost the entire percentage of my job. I have neither love for nor a choice, but to be an Imperial citizen...at the moment at least. I usually consider myself someone of neutrality to be honest, as does other's I know. Faction's are like semantics completely useless in a fight if you ask me personally." He told Meg during a lull in attacks against them, the Imperials weren't letting up at all it seemed.

"I see." Meg nodded. It made sense, he supposed considering everything. He walked a fine line as well, but chose to favor the Republic. Despite their different choice of faction, Meg saw just how similar they were in this.

He noted just how much in force the Imperials were when it came to ensuring that their factories would remain operational on Quesh. Meg as always wouldn't allow that to happen as long as he was living. So having a side-kick like the gigantic Atilla would be a complete asset and relief for himself and the mission. He already felt that he could trust him and they seemed to share somewhat of the same goal of getting through these troops to the facility, it was rather fortunate really.

Atilla turned away slightly, and talked into his personal comm. "I've got company now, Mako. I still need that data of our bounty...yesterday or never!"

Atilla had left out the name of his target knowing he had company, it was smart of him to do so considering. He was sure that the Jedi wouldn't be too upset about his job being related to freezing a frantic Sith Lord, but one could never know in these situations and he decided to be careful. Still the hunter would need help getting in he knew and it looked like it came in the form of this lone Jedi. He would take the help, regardless of such asinine things such as faction differences. The man clearly had some skill and determination that reminded Atilla of himself a little, but the differences were clear as day at times. Although the Jedi's skills would be needed with all these troops and the seemingly more Imperials that kept pouring out.

"Sending them to your datapad now, boss-man. I see the blip next to you so I'm glad you aren't there alone. I just picked up that there are more troopers incoming, seems you caused quite the stir for the Imperials." The one known as Mako said with a light laugh.

Atilla could hear the worry in her voice as she spoke. "Relax, Mako I'm fine. You know a few Imperial troops can't hold me down, and now I have a friend to back me up on this."

Meg couldn't help but to smile under his mask at the soft tone he never would have expected from a man like Atilla. Clearly these two were closer than co-workers, that much was obvious. He watched for the second set of troopers bearing down on them and knew when he couldn't see them what was happening almost immediately. Not wanting to interrupt their conversation, he hesitated only for a moment before the gravity of the situation demanded it's voice for him to speak.

"They are trying to flank us!" he told the Bounty Hunter urgently and alertly.

Atilla signed off with Mako and turned to Megrybo with a confident grin and a shrug of his shoulders. "Let 'em. I live for this shit daily and frequently."

With their combined help, both men were able to complete their objectives and were able to conclude their business on Quesh as a whole. Surprisingly they even exchanged contact information after the ordeal. They had met up with the tiny Mako at a neutral base housing a spaceport and Meg could see why Atilla was besotted with the woman. She was smart, cute, funny, and very intelligent. The two were so mismatched size-wise that Meg had to stop from laughing outright. The fact that he saw the absolute gentleness and respect that Atilla talked to and treated Mako with vindicated his initial assessment that this man was indeed a good one, despite his reputation and looks. Mako was kind to offer her slicing services to Meh if he should ever need them and he was grateful in return. Meg knew it was good to have friends and allies everywhere and although it may have been unlikely, he could possibly count on Atilla for help if needed again.

With that all said he was done with the first task needed, and now he was heading for a warzone.

That warzone was Corellia unfortunately.

******

Corellia was once considered a proud Core world planet that had sat within the Republic's control for centuries. When the Great Galactic War begun, it was both Corellia and Kuat that pushed the fuel and resources that would supply the Republic Navy. Although after the war and the start of the cold war, Corellia begun returning to it's routes of being a crime network spree for Smugglers, pirates, and bandits hoping to gain any kind of ship from Coronet Cities many shipyards.

With the Sith Empire making it's push once again and properly declaring war on the Republic once again, it made sense for them to target Corellia for both it's location, and it's importance to the Republic. Though it was clear that the Empire was up to something far more devious by just how frantic and planned their attack was. That was until Corellia's leading figures and government agreed to turn power over to the Sith Empire, only then did many within the Republic and Corellia itself learn the horrible truth.

Not all was lost however as things turned from bad to worse for the Empire on Corellia. The people were very resistant to the news of the Imperial occupation, so much so that riot's had broken out, and several open rebellions had been declared to liberate their planet. Coronet City itself was a battlefield from those days forth with the 'legitimate' government of Corellia and Imperial forces trying their hardest to fight off the rebellion. Sadly for them however things continued to get worse.

The Republic which had been watching for some time as to what had been happening on Corellia had finally responded to the many calls of help they had been receiving from the rebellion. With one fell swoop the Republic sent several fleets to battle the Imperials above the planet. As for their liberation force they would send relief supplies and would send soldiers and even Jedi to the planet to help fight for it's liberation, the fight was turning against the Empire it would seem.

So it was no surprise that Megrybo and Jaelynne would be tasked with helping the forces on Corellia against the Empire. Even though Meg would be on his own for a few days here he knew that he would most likely have the help of several Republic forces and that of the Green Jedi defenders on the planet. He was very confident that he would be able to at least assist and do his part in helping the forces here fighting for the liberation of Corellia.

Upon his journey to the planet, he had learned that there was many different groups of Republic soldiers who were being pulled to fight on Corellia. Soldier's from Alderaan, Duro, Bakura, Onderon, and many, many more were being sent or were volunteering to be sent to the Core world planet. It was at least pleasing to know that so many were willing to fight and possibly die to defend a world such as Corellia, but everyone knew that if Corellia stayed the way it was then any hope of keeping the Core world's safe was lost.

Meg had been hoping that when he exited the spaceport that all would be well and fine with Coronet City. Sadly he was wrong. The city itself was a living hell as skyscrapers, factories, and every building for a good mile were burning or had been damaged in a way. It was clear however with the amount of docked Republic vessels here that the shipyard around and in the city was still operational thankfully. It was also evident that the Republic forces that occupied this portion of the city were trying their hardest to keep the sector alive and stable, as the constant artillery strikes made that difficult as is.

One group in particular had caught his eye as they ran towards the spaceport to either take cover or to help in getting their wounded in to the large dome-like building. A lone soldier however stopped and noticed Meg, and quickly ran towards him and stopped.

"Sir, Private Frix at your service, are you one of the Jedi that was just sent here?" The private asked almost frantically and terrified as he heard, and then watched an artillery bolt hit close to them.

"Yes, where am I needed?" Meg asked calmly and politely, despite everything that was happening around the two.

"General Kordunn is at the makeshift Republic stronghold here at the spaceport to the west, he needs any help that he can get. If anything go to him and help him with whatever he needs, I need to go now." The private said in a hurry and in clear panic as he ran for his life to rejoin his comrades in the spaceport.

Meg looked towards the location that the private had spoken about, and within a moment his eye's landed on that of a large tower to the west. Upon approaching the building he noticed that most of the tower was nearly intact, despite the few ruined spots and flames coming from it. The damage was clearly extensive, but was thankfully manageable. As for the inside of the Republic headquarters, well that was another issue entirely.

The headquarters inside was a complete wreck in terms of it's actual usability to be used much more after the next few weeks. As for the Republic personal in question it was more or less chaos within the headquarters as most were running to and from to help in clearing debris, checking the power systems, or just helping in getting other war front's maintained. The war room in particular was the center of where all this chaos was located and with further inspection that assumption would be correct.

General Kordunn was a fair but old man who seemed rather anxious, and nervous with how the situation was going. The building that surrounded them was constantly shaking and shuddering from the continued bombardments from enemy fire, it was something that most of them feared as the building could come down at any minute. Although Kordunn seemed rather relaxed as he tried his hardest to get an update on what was currently happening on all of the front's.

"The enemy broke through our lines we could barely hold them back even with the Green Jedi, and the other off world volunteers." The report that came from the hologram was frantic as it soon became clear that the Republic soldier in question was in the midst of a firefight.

"Where is your commanding officer?" Kordunn asked with concern lingering in both his voice and his facial expressions. Today was a stalemate for the general as he had managed to push the Imperial back at great lengths, but only to be pushed back the same. It was tiring really.

"Commander Clicol is dead sir. There was nothing we could do as he watched him get cut down. Although the lieutenant as assumed command and is trying to ward off the enemy." The private seemed a bit more relaxed as he was being flanked by his fellow squad mates in the background.

"Tell me your location and I will send reinforcements to you as soon as possible."

"We're at the axial casino, directly south from the shipyard. Please get here soo-." The soldier was unexpectedly cut short as an explosion filled the hologram's projection, before cutting out completely. Korduun understandably sighed despite the situation that had just come up, he knew very well that something needed to be done to help those men. That was until he noticed the Jedi approaching him, and then he was thankful.

"Ah! Master Jedi, welcome to Corellia. At least what's left of it at the moment. No doubt you heard that little scuffle on the hologram, so I'll brief you quickly." Kordunn seemed to be the straight forward and uptight man that Megrybo had heard about. That was good at least considering anyone else would just act  cowardly during all this chaos.

"I need you to help those men and to save them if possible. I know that some Green Jedi are with them as well so, bringing them back would help as well. You will be going alone as I cannot muster enough troops quickly enough to get there fast enough, so keep that in mind as your heading to their position. Do you understand Master Jedi?"

Meg seemingly nodded to the statement as it was really a good, and smart choice in making. The war on the planet was going bad enough, if the men in the casino were to lose that position then that would mean the entire shipyard could be at risk. They and most certainly he would ensure that would not happen.

"I understand sir, I'll race there as fast as I can and help those men. We'll signal you once we're clear."

"Good. Thank you Master Jedi, and may the force be with you."

******

By the time that Megrybo had managed to arrive to the casino, only then did he realize how brutal the war was on the planet. The streets were littered in debris, sinkholes, and bodies from both differing factions and civilians. As for the casino? Well the same could be said for the entrance as it was destroyed beyond belief, not too mention the many bodies scattered around it.

The interior of the casino wasn't so spectacular either as the battle that had ensued here destroyed practically everything that held worth. It was almost as if though he was walking into a murder scene with how many bodies, destroyed turrets, and disabled droids there were. Almost every room he entered it was the same thing as each one was skewed with the remains of battle. Except for the commotion he heard coming from the main hall within the casino complex.

Meg was understandably alarmed as he tried to open the door that blocked him from getting to the battle on the other side. Sadly the door wasn't being powered and needed to be forcibly opened by any means necessary. Thankfully he was a Jedi and could use either the force, or his lightsaber to open the door. The later was what he chose as he ignited his saber, and cut a hole within the door to let him through.

Although the sight before he was something that no-one could possibly believe. The supposed 'outgunned' republic forces were winning in this firefight. What was evident towards Megrybo on the republic troopers however was the fact that they seemed to be made up of only off world troops as none of them were clearly regulated troopers. There was one in particular that caught the attention of Meg.

This lone man was wearing what appeared to be an officer uniform fitted for officer's except this one was a dark blue in color, a clear opposite from the standard white and red. Another surprising fact was that this man seemed rather young for his position, possibly no older than in his late twenties to early thirties. Lastly it remained along with his light brown hair that was slightly longer than regulation military required, but it seemed to flair with this man esteem of confidence as he stood amongst the battle giving his soldiers commands left and right.

Meg knew that by the way that the battle was going, he would have to help them. That was mostly because it was only down to these troopers, as every other Republic soldier was dead alongside the Green Jedi that had accompanied them.

Within a moment after jumping down from one of the upper most balconies it was evident that the Imperials were desperate to kill them all. Three Imperial soldiers in particular noticed him right away and charged at him all at once. One began firing at him while the others had vibroswords charging at him. Meg cut down the first one with one slice to his chest. The other managed to pin him down and managed to toss his saber away before he was subsequently taken out by stray blaster fire. Sadly the last trooper had managed to reach Meg in time and was ready to strike the final blow, but before the man could lunge his sword into him however the Imperial was shot point blank in his heart.

Meg who was shocked and surprised when the Imperial's corpse landed on him, decided to act quickly and push the body off of him. Determined to find out who it was who helped him, he got up and turned to look at the man in question. Surprisingly it was the officer who had caught his attention just minutes before.

"A Jedi? Well it's good to know that at least some form of real reinforcements have arrived." The officer said in a snarky tone. However this man was clearly polite as well as he offered to help Meg to his feet by offering him a hand. Too which Meg respectfully and thankfully took as he was risen to his feet.

"I'm sorry, but who are you?" Meg asked in completely curiosity as this man was more or less a true enigma.

"Roman Cell, acting commander of the Onderon Havoc Brigade at your service. Now if you're not busy master Jedi we do have a war to win."
