Chapter 2: Meeting Others (Shared POVs)
Before I begin this chapter, all text in bold will be Toby's POV, and all underlined text will be Masky's POV. Thanks mates!
It was actually quite normal, as days go, just walking with Jay, Brian, and Alex. I really don't trust Alex at this moment, as he had apparently given poor Brian, my best friend, a beat down not too long ago. Although it was supposed to be normal, out of the blue, we heard a loud thud off in the distance. All of our heads literally snapped into the direction of the noise, it was rather loud, mind you, not something that should be ignored, it was as if a bear had fallen, but it sounded smaller than a bear.
"Stay here, I'll be right back," I instructed my friends as I walked off, ignoring Jays calls of how it wasn't safe. I don't care if I'm safe, I need them to be safe. As I walked through the woods, not another sound was made, I was about to give up and go back to my friends when I heard a faint footstep. Somebody was trying to be stealthy. I pulled my knife out of my pocket, I never go anywhere without it, because you never know when you need one, just in case Alex attacks somebody again. As I looked through the bushes I saw...
A teenager.
With a brown hoodie with green stripes.
Goggles.
A mouth guard.
And what looked to be a belt that can hold some sort of axe, or maybe even a hatchet. I cleared my throat and he snapped his head at me.
As I stood up, I could hear somebody coming, so I went into a stand-still position, as I had been told to do if I was heard, but eventually the noise stopped, so I took a step, a rather small one. I thought I was safe. I thought I was alone.
...
I was wrong.
I heard somebody clear their throat, I rapid turned my head to look at them. Standing there was a man, much older than me physically, maybe 26, (In my mind, a proxy cannot age so I honestly think Toby is mentally 119) and he just stood there, I stood still, not saying anything, I didn't know what to think, I didn't know what to say, I didn't have my hatchets with me, as I wasn't able to grab them as I had been pulled into the portal without consent.
The male that I was looking at was a lot younger than me, he looked to be 19, or maybe even 20, 21 at the most, but he was young, that's for sure. Finally, after what get to be forever and just standing there, I mustered you enough courage to speak to him.
"Who are you?" I asked him.
...
No answer came from him, he looked at me up and down, examining every feature of my body. I couldn't help but question that inside of my mind. After he had looked at me, he looked up at my face.
"T-Toby," he stated, in a matter-of-fact tone.
"I beg of your pardon?" I asked, not exactly sure that I heard what I heard.
"My name i-s Toby," he said, in a less harsh tone, "Who are you?"
I gulped, I didn't want to tell him my name in case he could use it against me, but, seeing as he had said his I figured it was only fair.
"I'm Tim," I told him, and quickly added, "Would you like to come back with me?" After I asked, I wished I could take it back so badly, I didn't want him fighting with my friends. Yet he nodded, I couldn't back on him now, I signaled him to follow, in which he did, as I struggled to walk through the woods, Toby seemed to be able to race through it, at one point, I thought I had lost him until I found him up in a tree. He was rather agile, but I decided not to question it. When we finally got back to the others, I could see their faces were full of questions. They all started talking at once, and To t looked uncomfortable.
"Guys, wait until we get to the hospital," I told them, "Then I'll answer all of your questions."
