Part Five

Would you prefer the story flip flop between the teams' POV and the Bat Boys' POVs or stick with mostly one?

"So, what have we learned so far from our investigating?" Tim asked his brothers as soon as they were gathered in his room, the dedicated spot for their meetings.

"I've learned that Jason can be an asshole when in civilian mode." Dick snickered, recalling the drama from his first class.

"Hey now, we each need to come up with civilian personas, and since I'm the best actor-"

"There isn't much acting needed for you to be an asshole, Jay." Tim muttered.

"I heard that."

"You were meant to."

"Father said no violence." Damian said half heartedly, secretly routing for the two of them to fight.

"And mother would want us to work together on this." Dick stepped between the two, glaring slightly at them. "So, what have we learned?"

"Well, when I was sitting in the office I overheard the two office workers discussing a hotly debated rumor that father is actually the Batman that is so widely known in this city." Jason offered.

The brothers thought about it for a moment instead of dismissing the idea, thinking back to how their father knew so much on the day they first met.

"It would actually...make sense." Dick rubbed his chin. "Think about it, he has the build, the money to fund his operations, the perfect cover as no one would seriously believe that Bruce Wayne is Batman...but in reality he is!"

"So, how do we proceed?"

"We find his base of operations, of course. It must be located somewhere in or around the manor."

So the four brothers got to work trying to locate the mysterious Batman's base of operations, who they were convinced was the same person as their father. They searched for hours and were just about to give up hope when Tim pointed out the grandfather clock in the study.

"What about it, Timothy?" Damian squinted at the clock, quickly realizing what Tim was getting at. "There is a passage way behind it..."

"Exactly. Now, we just need to figure out how to open it."

The brothers spent the next hour trying different methods and trials to get the door to open but nothing worked until Dick took a step back and observed the clock. He snapped his fingers as a light bulb figuratively went off in his head. He went over to the clock and adjusted the time on the hands, smirking when the clock moved to allow the brothers to get by.

"How'd you know?" Jason asked as the four of them snuck down the stairs.

"It was simple, really. The time didn't change the entire time we were working on the clock so I figured the access way must be through the hands." Dick shrugged as his siblings all nodded. "Now, let's see what father is hiding."

They made into the main part of the cave, all stopping abruptly when they saw the mentioned man sitting in a computer chair with his arms crossed over his chest, an amused expression on his cowlless face. Bruce Wayne was sitting there in what was very obviously the Batman's hideout and his suit, staring at his four sons with a smirk.

"So, the rumors are true." Jason breathed out, eyeing the cave. "You really are the Batman."

"Yes, there is no point in denying it seeing as you are standing in my base of operations and I am wearing my suit." Bruce smirked wider. "I am impressed, though, I didn't expect you to figure it out so quickly. Though I shouldn't be so surprised, you are all rather intelligent."

"You have been foiling mother and grandfather's plans for a while now, father." Damian spoke in monotone. "Have anything to say?"

"They plan catastrophic events that must be stopped and they lead a League of assassins. Need I say more?" Bruce raised a brow. The boys shifted their weight, knowing they couldn't argue with their father while they were under his roof. "Now, since you know my secret, I wanted to bring something up with the four of you. Something I believe will be very...beneficial."

"Oh, I don't like the sound of this already."

"Especially for you, Jason, I heard about the stunt you pulled at school today." Bruce narrowed his eyes slightly at his second oldest. Jason just rolled his eyes in response, muttering something about playing a part. "We will get back to that. For now, though, I want to talk to you four about a venture I have started with a group of...similar individuals. It is a team of young heroes, the proteges of the Justice League, if you will."

"Father, with all due respect, we are the children of Talia al Ghul-"

"And Batman. Let me make this clear now, this is not an option. You will be joining this team, all of you. Under guises, of course. No one on the team is to know of our relation."

"What is the point of this?" Tim asked, a slight hesitation in his voice.

"The point of this, Tim, is to rehabilitate your abilities. Prove to yourselves that you can use your prowess for more than just killing. That you can do good with your skill set." Bruce looked over his sons faces, taking note of the expected looks of resistance and annoyance. "We will meet the team first thing after school tomorrow. Now, all of you are dismissed back upstairs."

"This is such bullsh-"

"All except you, Jason. We need to talk about today." Bruce watched as Jason reluctantly stayed behind, glaring at his brothers' retreating backs.

Dick, Damian, and Tim exited the cave, stepping into the study in a stunned silence. They exchanged a look before letting out a collective sigh.

"I guess this is our life now." Damian groaned. "Well, I am off to do homework. I shall see you both tomorrow at breakfast."

"Goodnight, Damian." Tim and Dick both called out at the same time, watching as the youngest headed out the door.

Tim turned to Dick with a curious expression. "You know more than you are letting on, don't you?"

Dick put on a look of innocence. "I don't know what you're talking about."

Tim narrowed his eyes. "Mhm. Sure. Whatever you're up to, I'm going to find out."

Dick let out the breath he was holding as he watched Tim retreat to his room, thanking his lucky stars that everything was working out according to plan.
