Part Fifteen

Y'all already know what I'm planning, don't ya? I made it pretty obvious, didn't I? Oh well. Here is some more assassin drama for ya!

The entire team was gathered at the mountain for a mission briefing, waiting on Batman to appear. The four brothers stood with the rest of the team in silence, nobody in the mood to talk. It had been a week since Dick and Wally's date and so far nobody had revealed anyone's identity to anyone.

That was all about to change.

Batman entered the mountain, walking up to the holographic computer. He pulled up some coordinates before turning to his team. "The Justice League has reason to believe that the League of Shadows is going to strike this facility. We are not sure why, that is for you to find out. We are sending you in tonight. Remember, this is a covert, reconnaissance mission only. No one is to know you are there."

Everyone nodded, walking away to the bioship. They boarded it, taking their seats as M'gann entered the coordinates into the bioship.

"Alright, let's do this." Conner murmured. "I guess this a good way to see where their loyalties lie."

"We can hear you, you know." Dick snarled.

"I know."

Jason placed a hand on his twin's shoulder. "Don't let him bother you."

The rest of the flight was tense and silent, nobody saying anything as everyone stared out the windows, lost in their own thoughts.

"Alright, approaching destination. Mind link up and running." M'gann announced.

Let's go get this over with.

How will we know what the Shadows are looking for?

Well, you four are Shadows-

Ex-Shadows. We haven't been with them in a month.

Still, shouldn't you know what they are usually after?

They go after information, mostly, but this place doesn't seem like it would hold a lot of information that the Shadows would want.

Why not?

Well, for one, it is an abandoned milk factory.

The team silently made their way into the factory, splitting up as they entered.

Stay on alert, who knows what this place really is.

Or if the Shadows are here yet.

Damian made his way through the factory, stopping when he found something odd. A highly advanced computer, looking very out of place in what should've been an old milk factory. He narrowed his eyes at it, walking closer when he was suddenly kicked in the face.

"That's close enough, Abyss."

Damian growled, whirling around to face his attacker. "Cheshire."

"Miss me?" Jade chuckled. "I have information for you."

"And why should I trust you?" Damian narrowed his eyes.

"It comes from your mother. She set up this meeting." Cheshire put her hands on her hips, looking around to see if any of the rest of the team had noticed her yet. Luckily, for her, the building was large and she was hidden by a machine, out of view. "Do you want to know why she sent me or not?"

Damian reluctantly nodded. "I suppose so."

"She says she is close to finding out the truth, whatever that means."

Damian nodded. "Thank you. Now, you may want to leave before the rest of the team finds you."

Jade nodded, running away with a two fingered wave. "Catch you later, Abyss. Don't touch the computer, its a bomb."

Damian looked over at the computer, scrutinizing it for a moment before noticing the extra wires. Jade was telling the truth. "Damn."

I found a bomb. We've been set up! Evacuate, now!

What? Are you sure?

Positive, now move!

Damian ran outside, making it out just a second before the bomb went off. He looked around for his team, not noticing them anywhere. He looked back at the burning building, cursing himself for what he was about to do. He turned and started to run towards the building, only to be yanked back by the back of his suit.

"Are you nuts?!" Damian looked up to see Dick glaring at him through his mask. "We all made it out, no need to go back inside."

Damian peeked around Dick to see the rest of the team and his brothers all standing there, looking as if they ran a mile. Well, all except Wally.

"We were looking for you, Abyss. That's why you didn't see us right away." Jason explained.

"Oh."

"We're you about to run in to save us?" M'gann asked, looking touched.

"We're a team." Was all Damian said in response. "I think its safe to say this mission is over, wouldn't you, Aqualad?"

"I believe so. Let's go report back to Batman that we were set up." They started to walk towards the ship only to stop at Conner's words.

Someone else is here. An unfriendly. And they have a gun, a big one.

My friends, I think it is best we run to the bioship.

Miss Martian, can't you call it closer?

I'm working on it.

As M'gann called the bioship closer and the teens ran towards it, Conner heard the unmistakable sound of a safety being take of a gun.

Get down!

Everyone dove to the ground, but unfortunately, mistakes were made.

As they were diving to the ground, Dick tackled Wally to shield him with his own body. A bullet hit Dick's mask, knocking it off of his face as he went down on top of Wally.

The bioship arrived a second later and everyone ran inside, M'gann jumping in the pilot seat and flying away as fast as she could.

Tim looked at Dick with wide eyes. "Your mask..."

Dick cursed, dropping his head so his hair fell in front of his face to hide from the team that was now looking at him. "It must have come off when I got hit."

"You got hit?!" Jason whirled around, crouching in front of his twin to look at his face. "Oh, it only it your mask. Don't scare me like that. I want to be the only one to kill you."

The team looked at each other, unsure of what to do in this situation. Wally stood up, grabbing Dick's arm and pulled him to the back of the bioship, out of view of everyone. He looked at Dick, who still had his face towards the ground. Wally sighed. "Dick, I know who you are."

Dick's head snapped up at that. "How long have you known?"

"Since the party. I saw your suit in your room." Wally took Dick's hand in his own. "It doesn't change how I feel about you, I still like you, a lot."

Dick smiled. "Can I do something?"

"If its what I hope it is, yes." Dick pulled Wally by the back of his neck and pressed his lips against the speedster's in a soft kiss. Wally grinned, pulling back. "And after I said you were waiting to kiss me because you are a gentleman."

"Hey, I am a gentleman, Wally."

"Mmm, sure." Wally pecked his cheek. "What are you going to do about your mask?"

Dick shrugged. "The team was going to find out eventually, so I guess I'll just...tell them?"

"Are you sure?"

"No, but what choice do I have?"

Wally thought about it before rummaging around in the box at the back of the bioship that they have for emergencies. He pulled out a pair of sunglasses, slipping them on Dick's face. "There, problem solved. Now let's get back out there, yeah?"

Dick nodded. "Thanks, Wally. I really appreciate it."

"Hey, you saved my life. I owe you one."

"How about another date?"

"Mr. Wayne, are you asking me out on a third date before we go on a our second? If so, I agree." Wally grinned.

Dick smiled, ignoring the guilt eating at him and instead focusing on the joy Wally brings him.

He would deal with the guilt later, right now he has two dates to plan.
