Annabeth's POV
"So, what or who do you think we are exactly?" Kelp head as asked, scratching his head and giving the Avengers puppy eyes. I chuckled softly to myself.
"You two are Hydra agents! You have no reason to lie to us now," Tony Stark announced, ugh, this again?
"Um, what's Hydra?" Percy asked, and I facepalm.
"Percy, Hydra has tried to capture us. Several times. Remember?" Of course I wasn't referring to whatever Hydra they were talking about, but might as well play along.
"Uh, what?" Peter, still in his suit (unnecessarily), was looking around at the Avengers for clues.
"She's not lying. Or she's been trained to lie, but Hydra is bolder than that. Besides, they have been in known to give children powers. So far these two haven't shown powers of any sort," Black Widow looked bored out of her mind, and annoyed that no one else was smart enough to notice.
"Then how do you explain that they were saying things about blowing me out of the sky!" Tony exclaimed. Goodness, that's a question Tony, it's supposed to sound like a question, not an exclamation.
"We were referring to our science fair project. It's supposed to have fairly powerful gusts of air pumped through tubes to create some sort of air conditioner, that's powered by water. It's really cool!" I was rambling, and now we have to make that for our science fair project. Wonderful.
"She gets excited about those things," Percy dutifully notified the awed Avengers.
"So we just kidnapped some random teenagers who happen to have a file?" Tony asked, looking surprisingly worried.
"Apparently so," Black widow nodded. " We should probably bring them home-"
Alarms were blaring and all the Avengers scattered to suit up, leaving Peter, Percy and I sitting in the conference room.
"What does that mean exactly?" Percy asked Peter.
"Something that isn't human is running around in the parameter of the base! Otherwise the lights would be flashing red, not blue!" Peter sighed, but didn't move.
"Well? Are we gonna do something about it?" Percy asked. Peter glumly shook his head, and Percy ran over to the window. He gasped. Shoot, there goes our cover.
"Which one?" I get up and gather our things.
"Beef head. He must have escaped when the elevators were working! Or he has a really fast recovery. Either way, we have to help. Their weapons are going to be useless!" Percy ran out of the door and I followed him. Moments later and we were on the field with the losing Avengers. Percy pulled out Riptide and I took out my dagger.
"Hey beef brains! Bet you can't catch me!" Percy yelled, glanced at me and nodded. I internally sigh. At least he isn't saying too much to arise suspicion. Besides, Thor's on Asgard and Hawkeye and Tony are unconscious. Didn't see the hulk or Any of the newbies at all, huh. Only Captain America and Black Widow are still here. Less witnesses.
"You!!!!" The Minotaur charged Percy. My breath caught in my throat. I knew he'd be fine, but it's natural instinct.
A moment later he was sitting in a pile of gold dust next to a horn.
"Uh, what just happened?" Captain America asked. "Why didn't our weapons work, and then you come out and poof, the bull guy is gone?"
Percy sheepishly scratched his head and laughed. "Luck?" Black Widow rolled her eyes.
Thunder rumbled and the sky was suddenly dark and cloudy. Percy scrambled up and ran inside. I ran after him but stopped in the doorway to see a beam of light come down from the thunderstorm.
"Percy! You're clear! You can come back out!" I called into the building. I then turned around to see a blonde haired man in some sort of armor and a cape. He held a hammer and had a god-like aura.
"What is this about? Why is there a Minotaur horn over there? Don't tell me you managed to kill a Minotaur without the proper equipment," Blonde hammer guy said. Wait, how did he recognize the horn?
"Minotaur? Like, Greek Minotaur? But the only known gods are Norse! You yourself are the Norse god of thunder!" Stark sputtered, obviously confused, especially since he just woke up. Norse god of thunder... This is Thor? I always imagined him differently. (I did not read the Magnus Chase novels, I'm kinda ignoring them right now, besides, Norse mythology was never something I really got into. Literally the only mythology I don't appreciate enough and read about, sorry. Carry on)
I quickly get my wits about me and bow. Thor looks shocked but pleased. I look about and see everyone else staring at me.
"Do you know him? You don't seem to be giving him godly credit," I state. The group starts laughing at me, so I slowly get up. "Fine, whatever," I mumble, as Percy inches out of the building and eyeing the now clear sky. Peter also rushes down from the window he was watching out of.
"We... Are suspects again aren't we..." Percy scratches the back of his neck and grins sheepishly. Everyone nods.
"Wonderful."
