Near-death experiences shake you to the core. They make you feel powerless and you are just waiting for it - to die. To darkness consume your mind, to feel your body falling down to the battlefield.

You were one of the people taken in the Blip. You left a ton of your friends grieving for you - believing you'd never make it back.

But you did.

Seeing people all around you as you came through the golden gates was overwhelming - you thought you'd never see Earth again. The battle was over, you could see Thanos's troops vanish into the air. And you saw Steve in the middle of everything, looking all around him and finally, his eyes met with yours. Everything else was blurred or black - to you, it had been just a few minutes since you saw Steve the last time, but to Steve, it had been a lot longer than that. It had been five years.

For five years, he hadn't seen you. He hadn't even known if you were alive - if the Blip was reversible. So when he saw you standing there, he just dropped the Mjolnir and his shield and ran to you - taking you to his embrace, not saying anything and that's when Captain America cried. He was able to look at you, touch you, hear your voice and see you smile at him. He had wished for it, he had waited for it - but he hadn't believed it actually happening. He had been fearing the Blip wouldn't be reversible after all - but it was.

You hugged Steve harder than you had ever hugged him, and whispered it over and over again, "everything is okay now, I'm here, I'm here."

Steve tightened his arms around you, and it almost hurt. But you knew that Steve had thought you had died and you let it hurt. You knew that pain is good, it's a friend - it tells you you're alive.

And as Steve finally pulled away from the embrace, he leaned his forehead against yours, tears still flowing down his cheeks. And he muttered, "I love you Y/N... I love you so much."
