[CAROL DANVERS DRABBLE]

Based on Just Like Fire by Pink

And people like to laugh at you / 'Cause they are all the same / See I would rather we just go a different way / Than play the game

You watched as the other Avengers chatted in the hallway, and you felt out of place. Your powers had only now began to wake up, and they were very weak when you compared them to Captain America's strength or Thor's ability to call thunder with Mjölnir. So that caused you to sit alone at the corner when others had a good time after another battle.

You had saved a few kids in your last battle, sure, but that was because you barely got there in time to create a shield so arrows wouldn't fly on the kids, giving them time to escape. But that wasn't enough, you had saved only three kids, other Avengers had saved the rest of the town.

Carol spotted you sitting alone at the corner and slowly made his way over to you, sensing you needed someone to talk to.

"Hey", she said softly, avoiding to startle you. You turned your gaze to her and sighed. "I noticed you're not at the party. We saved a town today with hundreds of people, you deserve to have-"

"You saved the town, I just ran around, everyone else were fighting but by the time I got there, fight was already over." you interrupted her and looked up. "My powers aren't big enough for this kind of job, It would be better if I wasn't in the team."

Carol was quiet for a while, but then she laid a hand on your shoulder. "But you saved those kids. I saw how you shielded them with your body so they were able to escape. They wouldn't be alive without you."

"Yeah, but that was only one thing. I didn't get to fight, I didn't really make a difference."

"Y/N, this job isn't just about fighting in the battles. This is also about saving those who need saving, and you did that. And you're still very young, your powers aren't trained in their full potential yet. And I know you're going to be amazing." she said with a smile. "Your powers are going to do so much good and you're going to save hundreds of people, thousands even."

You pondered her words and after a while, you carefully smiled at Carol, grateful for her words. "Thank you, I appreciate your words."

Maybe you wouldn't suck in this superhero thing after all.
