Chapter 15: Percabeth Prom!
Percy muttered a few well-chosen words under his breath, Goode Highs Prom was in two weeks, and he still hadn't asked Annabeth out.
" Bro, do you need some help? " Jason asked
"I still haven't asked Annabeth out to Prom, she's gonna kill me!" Percy groaned, stuffing his face in his hands.
"She loves you too much to do that," Jason said covering up his grin with a hasty cough. He had asked Piper out to Prom while the were having a walk in the moonlight at the park.
"Yeah I'm lucky she does, or you would've gone to my funeral already." Percy opening his locker, hasity pushing things aside, he had to drop off some of his things or his back would probably break from all the binders in his backpack.
Jason leaned on the locker next to Percy's, waiting for him to finish putting his stuff up, "You just gotta grow some balls Percy." Jason shrugged, causing the strap of his backpack to slip off, making him jerk to the side Percy chuckled at this.
Suddenly, Percy's eyes got a bright gleam to them, he slammed his locker shut, and spun around, "That's it Jason!" Percy said excitedly, "Balls!
Jason's eyes went wide . "Perce, balls?" He hissed, his face turning a shade of bubblegum.
Percy's face went red when he realized how wrong his words sounded, "NO!" He yelled waving his hands in front of his face in embarrassment, "I meant like Ping-pong balls! Tell the guys to meet me at my apartment in ten, and bring all the blue permanent markers they have!" Percy clutched onto the blue strap of the backpack and began running for the exits with a brilliant plan in his mind.
"Let me guess!" Jason called after him, cupping his hands around his mouth to amplify the volume of his voice, "You're gonna go buy a ton of Ping-pong balls?"
Percy grinned his lopsided grin and pushed open the exits, of Goode Highschool. "You betcha!" He yelled, running out the door.
Jason and "the boys" all showed up ten minutes later on Percy's doorstep, each with a bag of blue markers, Nico having significantly more than the rest.
"Come on in!" Percy said smiling, opening the door for them, "Mom! Everyone's here!" Percy yelled toward the general kitchen area.
"Of course sweetie," Sally said, walking out of the kitchen with Estelle on her hug and a bag in her hands, "Paul's working late today, so Estelle and I are going to go to the park then out to eat, there's things for tacos on the counter and cookies in the oven. Have fun boys! I love you Percy!" Sally kissed Percy on the forehead and Estelle gave Percy a slobbery, but loving kiss on the cheek.
"I love you Estelle," Percy cooed, "Love you mom! I promise we won't get into any trouble!"
"You boys better not!" Sally said going out the door.
"Okay so here's the plan," Percy said, "Thanks to Jason telling me to grow some balls," Jason mock saluted, "I decided I'm going to write "Prom?" on 100 Ping-pong balls and stuff it into Annabeth's locker tommorrow!"
"Sounds like and good idea to me!" Leo said, rubbing a smear of who knows what on his shirt.
"Yeah, Valdez said," Nico muttered, jekring his thumb in Leo's direction, "But can we eat first? I want some of your Mom's blue cookies!"
Frank nodded in agreement, Will, Jason, and Nico following suit.
Mintues later everyone was on the floor, writing the word "Prom" on every single Ping-pong ball Percy bought and putting them into a basket.
"How are you going to even fit all these into Annabeth's locker?" Will asked, his Ping-pong balls having the messiest "doctor's handwriting."
Percy looked up from where he was laying down on his stomach, "Jason'll help!" He said, pointing the top if his marker to Jason.
"I am?" Jason asked.
"Yup, you can use your wind powers while ae close the locker," Percy said, bouncing a ping-pong ball into the "Done" basket. His Pong pong ball having messy - ish, handwriting.
"And you know Annabeth's locker code right?" Frank asked for confirmation, his Ping-pong ball whizzing past Nico's face and into the bucket
Percy grinned,"Yup! Since we first got em!"
They quickly finished up everything and Percy sent them on their way, each promising to go to the school bright and early (even before Annabeth) to help Percy.
Percy paced the floor in front of Annabeth's locker. "Where are they?"
"Hey Jackson," A soft voice said from behind him.
Percy seemed to have jumped three feet into the air, "What the!" He yelled, turning around to face the mystery person.
Percy was face to face with a laughing Nico with a groaning Will behind him, "Remind me to NEVER let you take me shadow traveling again," he muttered, looking green around the gills.
"Oh shut up Solace," Nico said tolling his eyes, he suddenly stiffened up, "Jason's here, so is Zhang."
Percy looked over Nico's shoulder (which honestly wasn't that hard if he was being honest) to see a panting Jason and Frank running down the hall.
"We're here!" Frank wheezed, clutching the strap of his backpack in one hand and a hockey stick in the other.
"Alright! You have the stuff?" Jason asked, trying not to seem to out of breath, but the grip he had on his book and his red face gave it away.
"Yeah," Percy replied, holding out the bag in front of him, "But why are you two out of breath? And where's Leo?"
Annabeth cursed violently in Greek, "We're going to be late!" She yelled, brushing her teeth while putting on her shoes.
Piper, Hazel, Calypso, and Rachel all rolled their eyes simultaneously, which may have looked really creepy, but Annabeth didn't look over her shoulder to find out.
"Classes don't start for another hour you know?" Piper aksed, rolling around, making herself fall on top of Hazel, who grunted in repsonse to having someone fall on them. "You really don't have to worry."
"Still! You never know!" Annabeth cried, putting her messy hair up in a bandana and hastily jumping into pants, not caring if her outfit matched at all.
The four other girls watched as Annabeth ran around her room, stuffing papers into her binders and stuffing her binders in it her backpack. The night before the girls had had an "overnight study session" at Piper's temporary home. The "overnight study sess" was pretty much one hour of studying and staying up until three A.M. doing fun armed stupid things. At first Annabeth didn't want to not study, but ended up giving in nice she realized how much studying took a toll on her mental health.
Annabeth calmed down a bit and was standing in the doorway, her haor hair mess and her backpack only three fourths of the way zipped. "Well?" She asked, talking with her hands slightly, "Are you coming or not?"
The girls looked and st each other and laughed, "Annabeth," Piper said, wiping a tear from her eye, "We were just messing your clock eaelier, school doesn't actually start for a other two hours!"
Annabeth sighed and rubbed her temples, "Sometimes I really hate you guys," she muttered, walking back and sitting on the bed.
"You still love us!" Hazel yelled throwing her arms into the air and smiling.
Annabeth gave out a breathy laugh and silently agreed.
"Let's give you a makeover!" Rachel yelled, Calyspo agreeing.
Annabeth groaned, knowing she wouldn't win this one on matter how hard she fought, her shoulders relaxed and she put on a smile, "Fine, but no makeup!"
The girls cheers and ran about the room to get tings to make Annabeth look even more beautiful.
Annabeth looked into Piper's full length mirror, "Well, I look nice," she said, twirling around in her outfit.
"That's an understatement!" Rachel yelled, pumping her fist into the air.
Annabeth took another look at herself in the mirror, she had to admit, when Rachel cared enough, she was able to put together a pretty sweet outfit. Annabeth had on a simple white short tucked into high waisted light blue jeans with a cute belt added for style. Annabeth also admired the assessories thay Hazel and Calypso picked out for her, simple diamond studs, elegant white shoes, a few simple thinm silver necklaces, and some bracelets and rings to match. Piper was in charge of hair and other, putting Annabeth's honey-blond princes curls unit unità high ponytail, leaving out a few curly strands in the front, Piper had also added a beautiful faux diamond chain around the elastic, giving the illusion that diamonds were holding up Annabeth's haor, Piper also insisted on Annabeth putting on at least some pink tinted chaptstick.
Annabeth turned on her monster proof phone around took a glance at the time, "We have fifty minutes guys, get ready!" She said, scrambling to get her things together while the other girls scrambled to get situated.
Thy got to get school with ten mintues left to spare.
Annabeth quickly got to her locker and wasn't that surprised to see Percy standing beside it, "How's it going Seaweed Brain?" She asled, putting on her locker combination.
Percy pretended to not be flustered by Annabeth's outfit or the fact that he was going to ask her to prom, he's been through Tartarus for goodness sakes! He can at least ask his long-time girlfriend to prom!
Annabeth looked over right before she opened her locker, "Are you okay Percy? You looked kinda flushed."
"Nope! Nothing!" Percy said quickly, leaning on the locker next to Annabeth's in a last-ditch effort to keep his cool.
Annabeth narrowed her eyes at Percy, obviously not convinced, but she still opened her locker, "What the!" She yelled getting into a fighting stance.
Percy and Annabeth (and unbeknownst to Annabeth the rest of the Seven, plus Solangelo, and a delighted Rachel recording) both watched as the 150 Ping-pong balls came tumbling out of the locker, each with the word, "Prom?" Written on it with blue ink.
Annabeth watched dumbstruck as the Ping-pong balls pooled around her ferr, her hands on her mouth, she looked to Percy, her eyes shining.
"I finally got the balls to ask you to prom," Percy said, grinning the lopsided grin Annabeth loved.
Annebth aougjed and threw her arms around Percy's neck, making him jerk down to so that bright grey eyes met sea-green ones, "Of course I'll go to Prom with you," she whispered and kissed Percy.
"YES!!!" both Jason and Mr. Blois yelled, falling out of Mr. Blofis' classroom with Rachel right behind them, recording the entire thing to send it Grover later on.
Annabeth laughed when she saw all of her friends come out of the classroom, "Well Seaweed Brain, I guess I'm going to Prom with you."
