" I just want to do right by my new team. A chance to finally prove myself. Besides, how many people do you know that get a second chance at life? "

SCOTT LANG

Scott Lang is a middle-aged, single father with low standards. He's had a habit of surrounding himself with bad decisions, despite trying to make a better man out of himself for the sake of his daughter, Cassie. He couldn't help but find another shovel to dig himself into a bigger ditch.

And not to give him the benefit of an excuse, but the people he surrounded himself with, day in and day out, were just as toxic.

He couldn't stop living the life of a professional criminal. It might sound a bit too cliche, but he was dam good at his job too.

Scott was always the first man on the job, and his bosses always picked him for first go. From banks to mansions, Scott could steal from anywhere. It was so addictive, his wife, Maggie, had to finalize their divorce herself. She ruled that Scott was a terrible parental role model to their young daughter, and he needed to be kept at a distance until he learned how to handle himself. Maggie's accusations led to a further police search of Scott's robberies. Connecting the dots, the court ruled that he would stay on strict probation for his crimes. This would allow Scott to still work to provide child support for his daughter, and to keep him away from further crimes.

Heartbroken, Scott decided to ditch the life as a criminal, and picked up odd mall jobs until he was off probation.

But unfortunately for the man who just wanted to make the world better for his only child, an opportunity came up. And not in a positive connotation either.

Scott's old team wanted one last score. A popular billionaire was retiring and living off the rest of his days in a mansion in the outskirts of New York. They planed to rob the senior for all he's got and promised Scott a good enough deal that would set him up for life.

Desperate for the money, because his jobs paid less than the regulated minimum wage price, Scott hastily decided to take the job.

One last score.
He kept telling himself.
Then he'll be set.

He planned to give a majority of the money to his daughter anyway, and try to get by on whatever scraps were left for himself.
As long as his daughter could live a fruitful life, that's all he'll ever ask for. And then he'll be done for good.

On the night of the biggest heist of his infamous career, they couldn't have done a more crappy job.

Luck was truly not on Scott Lang's side tonight. He never even needed 'luck' before. It was all skill. Ability even.
But maybe it was their overconfidence that brought their downfall. Maybe it was because they didn't brief the schematics to the alarm system right. Because that, sure as hell, was the first thing that went off.
Scott and his team barely made it to the second floor of the 7 story mansion. While trying to snuff out the owner, the billionaire found them first, and aimed a rifle he broke from the wall, locked and loaded.
Scott froze. He had never been caught on the job before. And now- he had a gun to his head, completely at the mercy of this rich old man.

It was just one job.
He told himself.

One job. In and out.
Set for life, money for his daughter, the rest for himself and he could kick this life to the curb where it belonged.

But what happened next would haunt the poor man forever.

Here stood Scott Lang, like a deer caught in the headlights, life flashing before his very eyes, the old man aiming a sweaty palm to the trigger- and Scott did what any sensible robber would do-
he rushed the billionaire.

The old man was surely surprised at his actions- watching Scott in pure shock as he wrestled the gun into his rough hands and frantically shouting at everyone to get against the wall.

It sure looks like he lost it because his little, well, big outburst shook his team to their core as they followed the rich senior to the wall as well.

Breathing hard and twisting a twitching finger to the trigger, Scott could already hear the sirens outside.

It was probably the abrupt shout in his ear comm, from their watchman outside the mansion, that set Scott off. All he wanted to do was warn the guys inside that the police were coming and the gig was up. But Scott, he never lost a single gig. Never.

And by the time the cops made their way upstairs, the billionaire's head was already splattered against all his expensive, ancient looking antiques. His blood decorated the freshly painted walls, and Scott's horrified face.

Still in shock, his mind silenced the grateful cheers coming from his teammates, and the threatening shouts coming from the cops.

And that's where it all started.

Several weeks later, Scott was already doing heavy time in a penitentiary.

And unfortunately, he wasn't sharing a cell with one of his boys from the old squad.

But that was good, considering he didn't want people like them to see him at his weakest.

Scott was convicted for murder. And it was that ruling that set him up to jail, was what pushed Maggie to force the courts to never let Scott see his daughter again.

Maybe it was his grief, or his broken heart or both, that made him start to hear the voices.

And even if he thought that was just his conscious talking, he never let anyone know, not even his cellmate, about how serious the issue became.

One night Scott finally realized these 'voices' in his head weren't just.. well.. voices. He was supposed to be sleeping, but he was staring so hard at the wall, that he swore it was from exhaustion that a blurry body began to form. It was like ghost even.

Scott propped himself up on his elbows and stared deeply at this mysterious figure. WAS he actually seeing ghosts? He's never seen one before, maybe in a movie once but not in real life- and he was NOT giving into the motion that he was crazy.

Because this just seriously looked like that old billionaire he killed not too long ago-

Eventually Scott found himself dozing off to the whispers in his head and the ghostly figure was the last thing he ever saw that night.

But ever since then, Scott had been invested with researching about the paranormal. Remember, he was too ignorant to believe that all this jail time and closed spaces were finally making him crazy. He had to put his obsession to something, so why not ghosts?

The prison gave inmates time to spend on the computer. And Scott sure did spend a LOT of time in that lab.

Eventually, he found Doctor Stephen Strange's ad about paranormal activities in New York. Scott belived that this had to be a sign, and emailed the doctor immediately.

He didn't get a message back. Not on the day he sent his letter. Not on that week.

And it was until the end of that month where there were rumors finally spreading about killing Scott for ruining the heist.

And Scott needed to act quick if he ever wanted to get out of this prison alive, so he could see his daughter again. And maybe, regain what's left of his sanity.

Luckily for him, the day before his execution was planned to take place, Tony Stark paid for his bail.

Reluctantly, the young billionaire would take Scott to see the Stephen Strange.
The team, already consisting of Tony, Bruce, and Stephen himself had conversed about Scott's paranormal sightings, and planned to use his abilities to get around New York to their advantage.

That's if, what Scott had to say was truly credible. And Stephen's 'powers' had a way of accessing Scott's ghost problem.

Now, Scott doesn't plan on letting down his new team. If they can find his worth, then he can prove that he means well. His journey is already beginning if he plans on redeeming himself. It will just have to take one ghost at a time.
