Steve and Bucky sat on the couch at Avengers Tower, eating ice cream and watching old cartoons. All the other Avengers were occupied with various activities. Clint and Natasha were playing gofish on the coffee table, Bruce was trying to teach Thor how to use a computer, Wanda and Vision were trying their hands at baking in the kitchen, and Tony was..... abruptly entering the room and loudly asking

"You guys ready to go?" everyone turned towards Tony, everyone had the same confused expression. After a few seconds of silence Wanda asked.

"Go where?"

"We promised to go to a charity event for the animal shelter remember." Tony explained, looking around the room from person to person. Everyone was slowly shaking their heads as if Tony was crazy. Tony did a facepalm before saying.

"I must have forgot to tell you about it, well we have to go anyway, come on." everyone reluctantly got up and followed Tony out the door. The event was at a park just down the street so Tony insisted that they walk. They were almost at the park when Tony said to the group.

"Alright everyone, put on your happy faces, for the good of the public image." They all complied and tried to have a good time at the park. They walked through the park following Tony as he looked for the event coordinator to see what they we're supposed to do. Steve went along with the rest of the group and wasn't really paying attention to his surroundings, until he felt a tap on his shoulder and turned to see that Bucky had stopped, he was smiling, which was rare for Bucky these days.

"Steve look." He said pointing off to the side. Steve looked in the direction he pointed and saw a small pen filled with puppies, His face lit up at the sight. The two of them split off from the rest of the group and made their way towards the puppies. They talked to a volunteer who let them go inside the pen and play with the puppies.

Two hours later Clint realized that Steve and Bucky were gone, the Avengers searched the whole park and Finally found the two super soldiers, sitting in the grass laughing as they we're tackled by a litter of puppies. Most of the Avengers stood in shock at the sight of Bucky actually laughing. Natasha quickly snapped a picture and posted it on twitter. After a minute Tony was able to regain his composer and ask

"Uum... Cap, what are you doing?" Steve looked up and noticed the rest of the avengers staring at them, he stood up and exited the pen leaving Bucky still playing with the puppies.

"Sorry Tony, we got distracted." Steve explained

"Yeah looks like it, well it's time to go, can you get Bucky out of there?" Tony asked.

"I'll try," Steve turned back to Bucky, "Buck, we gotta go." Bucky held up a little black puppy with an amputated leg

"He likes me, can we keep him?" Bucky asked with big pleading eyes. Steve looked over at Tony for approval.

"No, no way, we are not adopting a dog" Tony said crossing his arms, but everyone else thought it was adorable, and they all took their turn looking at Tony with their best puppydog eyes.

"Alright fine" Tony gave in with a reluctant sigh. Bucky smiled and held the puppy as he walked out of the pen.

"Whatcha gonna name him buddy?" Steve asked Bucky while petting the dog's head

"How about Buddy" Bucky suggested. Everyone nodded in approval (except for Tony) and It was decided.

(two weeks later) Tony came out of his workshop carrying something metal, he went into the living room and found, as he had expected, Bucky and Steve playing with Buddy. He walked up behind them and quickly snatched the puppy and ran from the room. Bucky was about to chase after Tony and rescue is puppy but Steve stopped him, for fear of what he might do to Tony. Steve stood up to go see what Tony was upto but before he could take a step Buddy came bounding into the room, sporting a shiny metal prosthetic leg, and jumped into Bucky's arms.
