Erik Lehnsherr- Differences: Part 1 (c)
The world was crazier than it seemed. You would have assumed the world was exactly as it had seemed, however that certainly wasn't the case. People weren't just people, things were not how they seemed. You had been friends with Charles for quite a while, but little did you know he wasn't a normal human- he was a mutant. It had always confused you that he had an uncanny ability to know what you were thinking but you would have never considered that he could actually read your mind. When he told you, you thought he was pulling your leg but after some time to think about it you realised it was pretty cool that there were people out there whom had special abilities.
You had travelled with him to America, befriending his friends along the way other than Erik. Erik, although one of Charles' closest friends was cold towards you. He didn't seem fond of non-mutants, and as you spent time with mutants a lot he seemed to dislike you far more. You were always nice to him, even if he didn't share the same kindness. Erik seemed to avoid you in most cases however everyone else was being polite and nice.
Since knowing her, you and Raven had been close friends. So, when you noticed her looking sad you instantly wanted to help.
"Are you okay Raven?" You smiled softly, sitting beside her.
"No," she whispered.
Charles had explained that Raven had issues with her mutation, that she couldn't hide it easily without not being herself. You were frankly in awe of her, she had such an amazing mutation, but you understood that being different could make you dislike the things that made you unique.
"Your mutation getting you down?" You questioned.
She nodded her head.
"Oh Raven," you said gently pulling her into a hug. "You are perfect. You have no reason to hide how beautiful you are. I know being unique is a thing we are taught to fear, but we can only survive if we embrace our differences."
She gave you a soft smile, one that was rare to see.
"Thank you, Y/N, you always know how to make me feel better."
As she got up to leave the room, you noticed that Erik was stood in the doorway listening in to your conversation.
"Erik," you smiled softly at him assuming that he would snap at you instantly as he did usually.
"That was nice of you to say to Raven," he said monotonously.
"Well it was the truth. Everyone has differences and we have to embrace them, we can't control how we were born," you shrugged.
"I didn't expect you to care," he frowned.
"You don't expect much from me."
