[Tokyo Ghoul AU (ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*:･ﾟ✧]

Bucky eventually gets the hang of not being able to eat real food. The brown sugar cubes and coffee are enough to hold him down for a long while until he's attacking whoever's close by, not all there because of his hunger.

His last episode wasn't long ago, a day or two maybe, and it had happened when (Y/n) had been close by.

From being a ghoul for so many years, she didn't even flinch when he slammed her against a wall and stared at her from behind the one eyed mask.

"Bucky?" Steve sets down his coffee cup, observing his best friend carefully. "What's wrong? Are you okay?"

Shrugging, Bucky holds his chin and looks away. "Of course I'm okay. Stop worrying."

"But-"

The staff door kicks open and (Y/n) strolls out, yawning as she stretches. She waves as Steve, elbows Bucky's shoulder as she reaches to grab a cup.

"You woke up late," Bucky says, trying to keep his voice even when she stiffens. "Did something happen?"

"Yeah," Steve looks up and Bucky frowns at the seriousness in her voice. But then-- "They canceled my favorite tv show. Boo."

Steve grins. "Geez, I thought you had been attacked by a ghoul or something."

Bucky drops the cup in his hand, jumping when it shatters on the ground. "Why would you think that?"

"It was a joke," (Y/n) hits his arm, smiling sweetly. But her punch had been a little too hard to be friendly. "Stop taking everything so seriously. Besides, I could handle myself against a ghoul."

Steve laughs, sips the last of his coffee and stands. "Sure. Just keep telling yourself that until you're actually facing a ghoul."

Once Steve leaves, Bucky rubs down the counter and faces (Y/n). "Look. I'm sorry about the other night when-"

"When you tried to eat me?" (Y/n)'s smile widens. "No worries."

Bucky huffs. "Sure."

"And like I said," Picking up a box of coffee, she holds it close as she walks to the staffs door. "I can handle myself against a ghoul. We're both still here, aren't we?"
