Tattoo Artist and Florist (Stephen Strange x Reader)

HEY GUYS I GOT A IDEA FROM PINTREST (Well actually a tumblr post I saw on pintrest)

It's a Tattoo artist and Florist AU.

Stephen will be the florist in this one, I just wanted him to be innocent and tsundere in this one like he always is. Adorable kitten.

Also, if you don't want tattoos just pretend you do or don't read this.

_____

Stephen's keys jingled as he opened the door to his little flower shop. Flicking on the little lights, the store lighted up even though the huge windows he had provided enough light.

The cool morning air nipped at his skin as he slipped out of his red hoodie and into the dark green apron.

To be truthful, Stephen didn't know why he wanted to work at a flower shop. He needed the extra cash and the boss was a old friend. Christine loved flowers, especially the purple orchid ones.

The door opened again behind him. Christine shot him a sheepish smile.

"Sorry, I got caught up in traffic again." She said.

Stephen shot her a look. "I told you to leave a hour earlier than you usually do. The traffic isn't that bad around that time." He chucked a apron at her as she threw her brown jacket on the rack. "And you're suppose to be the boss." He mumbled.

"I know, I know." Christine sighed.

She flipped the open sign as Stephen unlocked the cash register. When he glanced up to see if she remembered to start putting water in the watering cans, he saw a familiar small f/c car pull up in the parking lot.

He watched as Y/N stepped out. Her grey cardigan brushed her black jean covered calves and covered her small tattoos on her arm. Her h/c was pulled in a messy pony tail.

"She's here." Christine smiled and waved through the window.

Y/N saw her and smiled, waving back. Stephen didn't know if she was waving at him too, but pretended not to look to avoid embarrassment.

"Stephen, wave back at her." Christine hissed, seeing him ducking down behind the counter pretending to grab something.

Stephen stoop up and waved once before looking away.

"I don't understand why you don't like her." Christine muttered. "She's nice."

Y/N worked in the store next door. She own the tattoo parlor and was really nice when Christine first opened up, bringing cupcakes from down the street. Stephen remembered how she chatted and was polite and intellectual. Not to mention totally out of his league.

"I don't hate her." Stephen snapped. "I just... I just don't know her as well as you do."

"Then go talk to her." Christine said. "I have a something needed to give back to her anyway. Maybe you could give it to her for me."

Christine handed him a black umbrella. "It was raining the other night and she said I could use it to water the plants outside and to go home." She also handed him a small case full of f/c flowers. "That's to thank her."

"But I don't want to do you work." He said, frowning.

"I'm your boss and I have to water the plants." Christine put her hands on her hips. "So go."

Stephen wrinkled his nose and rolled his eyes but went never less. The door closed behind him along with the noise of the bells. Taking a deep breath he walked into the tattoo parlor.

In the parlor was actually very neat. There was small booths with flower-painted screens in between them. The small noise of blades or whatever they were whirled and made a small buzzing noise. Posters covered the walls. There was a waiting area and a front desk that was surprisingly neat. He never actually went into the parlor before, always watching from afar.

"Hi, how may I help you?" A voice asked.

A guy was at the front desk. He had a full sleeve of tattoos and was around the age of 35ish. He had short black hair that was in a bed-head state. He had some facial hairs that were similar to his.

He noticed his apron. "Oh! Your from the flower place next door. My name is Tony." He took off his latex gloves and held out his hands, offering a shake.

Stephen used one hand to hold the case and the other for a polite shake.

"I'm looking for Y/N." he said, his eyes looking around.

"She's in the back checking up on a customer." he said, pointing at the last booth.

When he walked into the booth, Y/N was wiping something off a man's arm. He had a small dragon tattoo on his bicep.

"Just make sure to wash it when you get back from work." She said, covering it back in its in a plastic wrap. "And if you have any more trouble, you could always come back Andrew."

"Thanks, Y/N." he smiled, getting up when he saw Stephen. "I'll leave since you have another client."

Y/N turned around and smiled when she saw Stephen.

"Christine said she wanted to give you back your umbrella." He said, handing her the umbrella. In the corner of his eye, he watched the Andrew guy leave. "Are you close to all your clients?" He asked.

"Not really if it's one time, but Andrew likes to get tattoos so I see him often." She shrugged. Y/N stared at the f/c flowers. "What's up with the flowers?"

"Oh, Christine wanted to give it to you as a thanks." Stephen handed it to her.

"Thanks, but..." She didn't take it, but looked around instead. "Where should I put it?"

He watched as she walked out into the lobby place. Her scent of ink and mint was different from the usual floral scent he breathed in every day.

"Maybe you should put it by the front desk." He suggested.

"Sure." She grabbed the vase and positioned it next to the business cards they had.

"Looks good." Stephen knew he should probably leave but he didn't really want to go back to Christine's preppy attitude and the floral and dirt scent that hung in that store.

"I think it's actually going to rain later so I'm glad she got it back to me." Y/N admitted. "I'm leaving early today."

"Really?" Stephen remembered he had a short shift today anyway since it wasn't really that busy. "Me too."

"Maybe we can leave together." She suggested. "I want to go to this Pho place but I don't want to eat alone."

"It's been a while since I had pho, too." Stephen agreed.

"Great. It's a date then." Suddenly, Y/N blushed a dark red shade. "I-I mean..."

Stephen flushed a pink shade too. "A-A date? W-We only just started talking."

"So you don't want to go on a date with me?" She asked, raising a eyebrow. All signs of her blushing were gone.

"T-That's not what—N-No, I-I didn't mean that." He stuttered, getting frustrated. His heart bested wildly in his chest as he imagined them together. Kissing, holding hands, smiling—

"I'm just kidding, I'll see you later." She grinned.

"Y-Yeah." Stephen almost ran out of the parlor.

Y/N was a lot more bold than what he expected. She was still nice, polite and intellectual but a lot more bold. Stephen was surprised but he kinda liked being surprised.

_______

The pho place was buzzing with chatter and the warm air of the steam that rose from the fresh pho was delicious smelling.

Once they found a table, they took off their jackets and began talking after they ordered.

"I'm not joking, someone once tatted that on their body." She laughed. "Tony had a judging look on his face the whole time."

"I still think you're lying." He said, crossing his arms.

"What about you? Got any weird floral stories?" She asked.

"Someone once ordered a 101 bouquet of red roses while crying." He recalled. "He said they broke up he and regrets it, so he was trying to win her over with a bunch of flowers."

"Wow, what did you think he did." She wondered.

"Cheating? I don't know, I don't really care." Stephen shrugged.

"Are you a little curious?" She poked his cheek. He swatted her hand away. "Cold hearted." She pouted. "Would you care if Christine cheated on you then?"

"Why would I care?" He asked, confused. "She's not my girlfriend."

"You guys seem close. And you guys are both good-looking so you guys seemed to be dating." She shrugged.

Good-looking? She thought he was good-looking?

"What about you and Tony?" He asked.

"What? No, he's like my annoying older brother." She laughed. "And besides, he has a girlfriend already, Pepper."

"Oh." He said.

"Why? You like him?" She smirked. "I didn't know you were that kind of guy Stephen. You look very straight."

Stephen blushed, glaring at her. "Don't start trying to set me up with him. He looks like a doofus anyway."

Y/N gasped loudly. "You know I'm his friend right?"

"Yeah, so?" He tilted his chin up, smiling smugly.

"Cold-hearted." She muttered.

Just at that moment the pho arrived. The smell clogged his nostrils but he didn't complain. It smelled delicious.

_____

"You've been hanging around Y/N a lot." Christine smiled widely. She leaned closer to Stephens face. "You liiiiiike her?" She teased, dragging the i.

Stephen shoved her face away. "Stop, please."

Her eyes brightened. "You're not denying it, so you do?"

"No, she's just a friend oh my god." He rolled his eyes.

"Oh, then you won't be surprised or unhappy when you hear she's going on a date today." She muttered.

"What?" Stephen's ears perked up.

"She's going out with her Ex today. She told me about her, and he sounds like a dick." Christine explained.

"Why is she going then?" He asked, his eyebrows frowning. A bad feeling crept in his heart.

"They were best friends before they dated, and she missed him." She shrugged. "They were going to meet up at their old hangout spot, the park by the Starbucks."

Stephen glanced at the clock, his lunch break was going to start in 10 min.

Christine continued explaining. "He use to be incredibly rude and didn't trust Y/N at all and tried to hit her. They are actually going out right now. He said he wanted to say he was sorry."

It felt like a century until his lunch break was over. He basically ran out he could've been the flash. ;)

Stephen scolded himself for being irrational and stupid for going to the park. But to defend himself he did wanted to get some fresh air. He didn't know what came over him, he just... he just need to make sure she was okay.

A ex boyfriend who tried to hit her? Hell no, not on his broken watch.

Pulling up the park, he ran around the little park in search of Y/N. Until he finally saw her familiar grey cardigan, he ducked behind a tree.

She was indeed with a guy. The guy was frowning and looked mad. There was yelling and insults thrown but nothing he could make out. Just snippets.

She looked irritated and had her fist balled up. The guy's face was red in anger, waving his hands in the air.

Stephen couldn't take it anymore and sneaked up closer, pretending he was on his phone with his headphones in behind a tree.

"—alone, I thought you wanted to say you were sorry." She snapped.

"Did you find another guy?" He asked, laughing am sarcastically. "He won't be able to replace me, you know."

"You were my best friend Kieth. But I moved on. I thought about giving you and chance and that's why I came but clearly you didn't came to apologize." She said, coldly.

"Who is this new person?" He asked. Stephen watched put his hands on her shoulder, making her face him. "You can't be over me that easily, I miss you, Y/N. You have to miss me too, I can't be the only one."

"I don't miss you trying to hit me, I don't miss you trying to control my friends, I don't miss you trying to tell me how to live my life, so no. I don't miss you." She said, calmly and cooly.

He glared at her and raised his hand, prepared to hit her. Stephen was about to intercept and run to her aid but Y/N ducked and kneed him where the sun didn't shine and elbowed his chest. He fell, groaning in pain.

"Just let it go, Kieth." She said, standing over him. She gritted her teeth and shove her fist into her pockets all mad.

"I should've never came." He heard her mutter as she walked away.

She was walking in his direction. Stephens eyes widen. After watching her take down a guy twice her size and her mad expression, he didn't want to get on her bad side. He darted to his car, ducking and running.

Just when he started his engine and trying to erase his mind of what just happened, someone knocked on his car window.

He turned around and met e/c eyes.

Rolling down his window, nervous, he smiled weakly.

"Hi, Stephen. What are you doing here?" She asked. A gentle smile was painted on her face.

"I-I was um—taking a walk." He lied. Well it wasn't really a lie.

"Oh." She said. "Where are you headed?"

"It's my lunch break so I'm headed back to the floral shop." He said.

"Do you mind if I come with you?" She asked. "Someone drove me and left me here." She explained.

"Yeah, sure." He unlocked the doors.

When he started driving, she sat in silence. The soft orchestra music played in the back. Stephen watched as she stared out the window at the passing cars.

"You know, the lights green now." She said.

He blinked, then whipping his head around at the road in front of him. The cars behind him honked loudly.

"Y-Yeah, r-right." He cleared his theist.

"I'm sorry for being this quiet." She said, quietly.

"I don't mind." He said, trying hard not to stare at her again.

"I-I... I just ended a long time friendship and it's hard." She explained even though Stephen knew already. "He just changed so much, I missed the old him and I thought he would change back but I guess... I guess things happen and there's no going back."

"You can always make new friends." Stephen winced at his horrible advice.

"Yeah but the memories of us together are still in my mind. I wish I can turn back time sometimes." She murmured.

He felt a dull sharp pain in his heart when he heard her say that. Stephen wondered if she would miss him if they suddenly cut off all contact.

"You got us." He elbowed her lightly. "We can always make new memories."

She laughed a little. "True enough."

"And you have Tony and Christine. They are here also. The memories are still with you so you could always remember them, and you have the future memories with us to look forward too." He said. "The person you miss is different from the person you miss."

"Yeah, you're right." She sighed. "There's no use complaining and wishing for the past."

Another silence consumed them. But it was more comfortable this time. Stephen had a light smile on his face as he drove.

"Wow Stephen." She said, breaking the silence. "Careful there, you're showing some feelings and emotion."

"Shut up." He said, his smile didn't come off though.

"Oh yeah, I also saw you watching what happened between me and Kieth." She said, poking his side. He winced at her finger jabbing in his ticklish spot.

"Ow!" He complained.

"That's your punishment." She huffed, wrinkling her nose at him.
