Slow Build Up (Winn Schott x Reader)
Winn glanced at his long time crush, Kara.
She dashed off to, probably, save another life. She was so perfect, Winn felt flawed in comparison. He had all this burden of his childhood, his lack of confidence and inability to flirt.
A hand rested on his shoulder and he looked up to meet kind e/c eyes. She smiled at him, sympathizing.
Winn gave her a half smile in thanks. As soon as her touch was gone, there was a print on his shoulder where her warm hand used to be and he was left with that empty feeling again he had when he saw Kara giving James that look.
He watched her walk into Cat Grants office and handing her a papers and reports as Cat nodded grimly in thanks.
She walked out, and went back to her own desk. Graceful, her movements were.
Every since she transferred and Kara telling them that she was a old childhood friend, and them bonding. It has only been a month and Winn was already whiled for her.
He scolded himself and tried to remain faithful to Kara and his original crush, but he couldn't help but be intrigued by Y/N.
She had that kind look in her eyes and sharp words that could cut metal as she defended people she loved. Her hair was spilling over her hair tie that loosely held it together.
Winn ducked down, his face flushing as he realized that he was staring.
Glancing at the toys on his desk, he looked back up at the TV and saw Supergirl save a bus.
Knowing that Kara was doing that, he smiled and went back to work.
Not before, catching a subtle glance at Y/N before looking down and scolding himself again.
_____
Winn knew it.
He knew that it was coming.
It was the same thing over and over again.
It was like that cliche he knew was coming. Those cliche lines dropped hints that he knew it was coming.
But it was not like those movies, because he couldn't fast forward through the scene. Instead he suffered and died slowly as he waited for the moment to happen.
Y/N smiled at him. "Can you cover for me? Alex needs me." She asked.
Winn couldn't say no, because those genuine eyes told him that he would regret it.
"Sure."
"Thanks, your the best friend anyone couldn't asked for."
Sighing, he sat on her desk.
It was just a slow build up.
To the falling action.
Except it wasn't going to be smooth. It was going to be rough, with him tumbling down the hill.
