Panic (Clark Kent x Reader)

Clark slammed the door as he heard Y/N yell something behind him.

His mind was filled with rage as he sucked in a deep breath, inhaling in the cold air. The icy wind seemed to cut shards into his esophagus. But his body still felt hot with rage and anger.

"I don't hate that you're helping other people," she shot back. "I just wish that you wouldn't ignore me."

Then, ripping off his shirt, he flew up into the cold atmosphere and white clouds. Her voice still rang in his head as he scanned Metropolis for any activity.

"Just leave, Clark." Y/N muttered, coldly. "It's not like you ever come home anyway."

Seeing a column of smoke from across the city, he dashed over there. Plastic pieces flew around him, nearly colliding with his body.

Then, his eyes spotted the disaster.

One wing of the place was engulfed in flames, releasing a black smoke into the air as well as heat. Passengers were pressed up against the window, some burned and hurt. The head of the place was burnt off and left a black mark like god slapped it.

It was horrible. But he knew how to handle it.

He shot across the white plane, blowing out the fire and heat. As soon as he was done, he flew down and gripped the bottom, trying to gently lower the plane.

His muscles screamed in agony as he pressed his palms into the metal. His fingers curled up, bending the metal to fit his hand.

Part of him wanted to give up. It wasn't like there was anyone important on the plane. It was a sick thought, but his mind thought about it.

"I'm not just a side hobby that you can visit once a while." She yelled, tears poking the ends of her eyes.

Clark gripped the plane tighter, pushing it back and lowering it gently closer to earth. He could hear people cheering. He didn't deserve it.

He could barely work out his own life and his anchor was about to leave him to drift out into the abyss.

"Thank you, Superman!" He heard a child scream at him.

Lowering the plane gently on to the pavement, he let out a strained smile into the crowd before whisking himself away.

He had to apologize to her. Clark didn't want her to leave.

His eyes caught a gaze of a man who was crying. He got out of the plane with a woman's body in his arms. The woman was obviously dead.

Feeling his heartbeat speed up, he suddenly imagined Y/N's body in his arms. He thought about what would happen if she was gone, if she moved on, if she didn't care anymore.

Everything around him suddenly felt big and he felt small. Vulnerable for the first time, his chest shuddered as he felt his heart rate pick up to a abnormal rate.

Panic enveloped him as he quickly flew home.

He had to make sure.

Clark would never forgive himself if she died when he could've been there for her.

Hastily putting on a shirt and some pants, he almost ripped the door off its hinges when he entered the apartment they shared.

Y/N was on the couch crying and staring out the window. Her eyes found his and started watering again.

"L-Look, Clark. I didn't mean what I said—" she started.

But Clark already enveloped her in a hug, squeezing her body against his.

"You don't have to say anything." He whispered in her ear. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry for being a jerk, I'm so sorry just don't go, don't leave me pleas—"

"Apology accepted." She cut him off. "J-Just don't go."

Clark felt like crying. The panic from earlier stayed with him as he pressed his face into the crook of her neck, letting her scent and presence calm him as he tried to steady his shaky breaths.
