Best wishes Mikayla ♡
______
Mikayla stared at the positive pregnancy test in shock. Then she tossed it along side the other 3 pregnancy test that said the same thing.
Slumping down on the cold hospital tile floor, she buried her head in her hands.
Her brain was numb and she was speechless. She felt as if her body just shut down especially after she came back from the mission and the nurse informed her that she was pregnant.
She still took the test to make sure. Just for her sanity she took and the results only echoes the nurses words.
What now?
Flashes of Clint and her screaming before she left on the mission evaded her empty mind. She cringed and glanced at her right hand. It held no ring.
She was single and now pregnant.
Her worst nightmare. She remembered promising she wasn't going to be like those girls on TV who got pregnant at a young age with no father to their child.
Her first thought was abortion. Her mind quickly analyzed the ways she could get abortion for this child.
But she froze just as soon as she heard the word child echo in her mind.
This was a living thing now inside of her. It has been too long for abortion and this was her and Clint's creation.
No matter how much he hurt her, there was a little part in her mind that loved him. And this baby had the right to live now.
She got up, her mind was made up.
There was no way she was going to kill this baby. She was determined to raise the child to be the best child if anything.
______
It had been 2 years now. Mikayla can't say it has been easy raising a child alone.
But Maria's smile reminded her it was worth it. Her cute giggle that made her blue eyes that reminded her of Clint was beautiful.
When Maria asked what's a father, Mikayla didn't know what to say. It hurt to know what Maria wouldn't have a father for the beginning of her life and that it's not something Mikayla could buy or provide.
Sometimes she couldn't believe that she made this child and that she was her responsibility.
Mikayla still did missions here and there, always making her she had enough to provide for her and Maria.
Strangely enough, she hadn't seen Clint in the two years since their massive fight. Mikayla was happy though. It wasn't soon enough until they met again and started going out. It has been a lot better, him making her days brighter and happier. Maria loved having a father around and Mikayla finally could give her what she couldn't provide before.
And now she and Maria were on their way to the park. Maria insisted on going and Mikayla couldn't say no to her puppy eyes.
"C'mon, Maria." She said, clasping her large hand with her tiny soft hand. Maria waved goodbye to the strangers dog and continued walking with her mother.
"Momma, can we get ice cream?" She asked, pointing her stubby little finger at the nearby Baskin Robbins.
Mikayla's gaze followed her finger and felt herself crave some ice cream.
"Sure, sweetie." She replied.
The bell jingled as they entered. Inside was cute with the iconic pink and blue colors painted on the walls and the whole little tables.
When Maria walked up to the ice cream stand and pointed at the chocolate ice cream to order, Maria glanced around at the different flavors.
The waiter scooped the chocolate ice cream and topped with with sprinkles as Maria ordered.
"I'll have a scoop of cookies and cream, please." She said.
"Cookies and cream?" A voice said from behind her.
Clint smiled, ordering a Rocky Road. Mikayla smiled seeing him. It just seemed to make the all better. He cracked so,e jokes, making her smile.
Maria tugged them to go, reminding the reason she was out on this walk. Her little girl wanted to go to the park. The park held countless memories, like her first date with Clint when they go back together and when Maria called Clint 'dad' for the first time.
Maria wouldn't let go of her mothers hand, dragging her away from the park. When Mikayla sent Clint a apologetic look for not talking to him a lot, he disappeared. She tried not to be disappointed when she saw his retreating figure but brushed it off, thinking maybe he was busy.
But when Maria led her to a clearing that she was so familiar with, and ran off before Mikayla could say anything, she knew something was up. The little girl darted off, giggling. Clint stepped through the clearing, wearing a hopeful smile and bouquet of her favorite flowers.
Her mouth dropped. Clint wasn't the type to be overly romantic, so this was something special. The sunset sprayed the sky with hues of orange and yellow, lighting the whole area in a soft warm glow. The small candles that she didn't notice before was lighting up.
"Clint?" She racked her brain, not knowing what was the occasion. She immediately felt like a total idiot. "What's... What's going on?"
"Mikayla, you know I love you..." Clint said, quietly as he handed her the bouquet.
Mikayla took them, nodding.
"And that year of losing you, not knowing where you were or how you were doing, it hurt me so much. You have no idea what it was not even seeing you. And when I found out you had a kid, I almost cried thinking you were already married and had moved on." He continued. "But when I found out it was our child, I thought of the possibilities of us being together officially—like m-married. I know we don't need some dumb paper to tell us that we are together and a label on us but I feel like the married label is a exception... A-And if you feel the same..." Her lowered his knee and pulled out a small velvet box.
Mikayla almost dropped the bouquet, her eyes tearing up. Every daydream she had with him before felt like it was happening. Her heart burst at his cute nervous stutter. "Clint..." She choked through her silent tears.
"Will you marry me?" He asked, breathing out the sentence in hopefulness.
"Oh my go– yes." She said, tackling him with a hug.
A soft pop was heard and confetti sprinkled in the air around them. She caught sight of Natasha, her old friend, smiling. Maria ran towards them, smiling.
Mikayla was crying. She never felt so happy before, and just when she thought her family couldn't get any more happy. She pressed her lips lightly against Clint's, his rough fingers wiping away away her tears like he did when he came back into her life.
It was like rebirth. And this marriage was going to give a rebirth too, opening a door to another life as a official family.
