Knows Everything (Clark Kent x Reader)

Y/N was falling. The air rushed past her as she felt her organs in her body floating. The oxygen in her lungs felt like it was sucked out.

She closed her eyes, trying to steady her fast breath and heartbeat. Her h/c hair was surrounding her vision as she closed her eyes.

But as soon as she was about to accept her fate, two arms lifted her up. Her body was suddenly anchored.  Her organs returned back to heir planned and air was breathed back into her lungs:

Her eyes popped open, surprised.

The first thing she saw was crystal blue eyes that were so clear she could see her reflection in them.

Her feet touched the ground as he sent her a dashing quick smile before flying off. She watched his red cape disappear from view before sucking back in another breath.

That was her first encounter with Superman.

______

On her hip, her box of possessions that she was allowed to bring was digging into her hip. Her sneakers squeaked as she open the door to her new cubical.

The huge windows that replaced the walls shone the bright sunlight that was reflected off the other skyscrapers blinded her.

Perry White glanced at his wristwatch. "You're late." He said, his voice void of emotion.

"Thank you for your patience," she smiled, sheepishly. "I'm not use to the big city traffic, it's been a while."

He huffed, letting her off the hook. He turned to the rest of the staring employees.

"This is Y/N L/N, she is a well respected writer that will be joining us." He said before returned back to his office.

She smiled at the employees. They quickly returned to whatever they were working on. Y/N glanced around and found a empty cubical.

When she finished unpacking, she glanced up and caught a gaze.

Her e/c met familiar crystal blue eyes. She frowned, feeling as if it was too familiar.

_______

Clark scratched the back of his neck as he showed Y/N around Metropolis. Her eyes were sparkling with wonder as she admired the little cafe in a mall that he found.

"Have you ever been in a city before?" He asked, watching her cute face as she stared in wonder at the little cookie they ordered.

"Yes, but that was years ago. I was chasing a story in a small town a started working there because I loved it so much." She bit into the cookie. Clark didn't move, he just watched her. "But I missed the city life and the reporter/journalists life."

"Oh." He didn't know what to say. Being with Y/N was different than being with Lois.

Being with Lois is easy, it was a homey feeling with her. She was familiar, comforting, and just natural to be around.

But being with Y/N was like jigsaw puzzle. She was fascinating, different, and giving him the butterfly feeling that he never thought would be so overwhelming. He was unable to look away.

"I heard you grew up in a small town though." She said, sipping her drink.

"Yeah, a small town in Kansas." He smiled at the thought of his home. "It's homey there."

"You should take me sometime." She said, leaning in. "Just between you and me, I kinda miss the small town life already."

He smiled. Clark would like the see her childish wonder again in her eyes when she saw Smallville.

_______

"This is the third time I had to save you." His low voice said as he set her down.

She glared at him. "Look, I never asked for you to save me so just leave me alone. I was so close to getting a huge scoop."

"I'm Superman, it's my job to save people." He replied, frowning.

A huge explosion was heard. Their heads snapped towards the source. On the edge of the building, fumes of black and red orange flames licked the side of the building.

"We are not done here." He said before flying off.

She snorted at the thought that he thought he could order her. "Yes we are." She said even though he couldn't hear before walking away.

It wasn't too long before she returned to her apartment. Throwing her dirty sneakers against the shoe rack, she collapsed on her bed.

A loud groan was heard that probably surprised the neighbors upstairs.

After she changed into a tank top and sweats, she was about to climb into bed when she heard a loud knock.

Walking out into her living room, on her porch was Superman. His red cape fluttering in the cold night wind. A prominent frown was on his face.

She flipped him the finger before starting to return back to her room.

His face turned red with anger and continued knocking.

She rolled her eyes, turning around and unlocking the porch door.

"Stop getting involved with dangerous things!" He growled.

At the same time she said "How do you know where I live?"

"Tha—Stop changing the subject!" He stuttered. His red face from anger turned to embarrassment.

"Listen, Superman." She sighed. "I'm sorry I'm causing you so much trouble and you're sick of seeing my face. Can you leave? I'm tired and..." her voice falter as she yawned.

He faltered too, seeing her cute yawn. She reminded him of kitten. He blinked, remembering what he was here for. "You're just saying that so I would leave."

"That's what I just said— look, save your scolding for another time." She looked him in the eye. "I'm tired and I don't want to listen to your nagging."

He pressed his lips together, giving up.

A wet drop of water surprised him as he felt a wave of goosebumps on his back. Yelping in shock, he pressed his back against the cold wall.

Y/N blinked, surprised and the suddenly movement. Then leaning out to see the sky, she glanced up and saw droplets of water raining down from the sky.

Smiling she held her hand out and touched the falling water. "It's just rain."

"I-I know that, I was j-just surprised." He said, standing up straight.

She smiled, shaking her head and walking back inside.

Clark glanced out warily, not happy that he was going to get wet. Preparing to fly back home, he touched the railing.

A light prod of something hard surprised him. He runes around, seeing Y/N's gentle smile on her face as she was holding a umbrella. On the stick was a little kitten sticker.

He blinked.

"Here." She pushed the black umbrella into his hands. "Try not to ruin in."

"...Thanks." He said.

"No problem."

He noticed the edge of her eyes crinkled as she smiled.

"Safe travels." She said, watching him float up. He sent her a mocking salute before spying off.

______

"It's raining." Y/N said, reach out from under the cover to touch the rain.

"I have umbrella." Clark said, pulling out the black umbrella. "We can share it."

"Thanks." She said, smiling gratefully at him.

They walked to her home first. She convinced him to stay for a while. He took off his wet coat.

She was making hot chocolate and handed him one as he just set the umbrella down.

Her eyes fasted downward and widen as she saw something.

He followed her gaze and saw a little sticker of a kitten on the stick of the umbrella. Clark suddenly remembered where he got the umbrella from.

"Clark... Where did you get that." She said, quietly.

He felt his mouth go dry. He couldn't speak.

"Are... Are you Superman?" She set the two mugs down.

"Look, you can't say anything—" He started.

"So you are." She sucked in a sharp breath. "I knew those eyes looked familiar. I-I had my suspicions but—"

"You can't say anything, please." He said, grabbing her shoulders so that she faced him.

"I can't believe that you are Superman..." Y/N squinted. "Well, I can kinda believe that." She admitted.

"You can't say anything." He repeated, pleading.

"I know, I know." She said, shaking off his grip on her shoulders. "I'm not stupid."

He sighed in relief.

"Does Lois know?" She asked. "Since she's your girlfriend."

"She's not my girlfriend, but yeah... she knows." He said, grabbing the hot chocolate.

"She isn't?" Y/N raised her eyebrows. "But she's always around you."

"Just close friends. I once have a crush on her but now it's someone else." He admitted, sitting down on her couch.

"Someone else?" She sat down next to him. Her eyes were intrigued. "Who?"

He swallowed, hard.

"Fine, I respect your secret but I'll tell you something." She leaned against the couch. "I once had a crush on you."

Clark almost crushed the mug. He sat up straighter.

"What?"

"Once, I thought you didn't like me that way so I guess it's suppressed now. I don't feel it anymore." She shrugged like it wasn't big deal. Like she was just confessing to him and letting him know that his dreams could've been reality.

"What about now?" He asked, desperate to know if he had a chance. "What if—What if, say, I had a crush on you right now. What would you do?"

She met his gaze. "Do you?"

"I-I..." his voice faltered.

"Because you just b-brought up my feelings again. A-And it would be great not to hide them now." She admitted, a slow blush creeping on to her cheeks.

"Yeah, it would be." He smiled.

She brushed aside a stray piece of hair. Her bashful smile was adorable.

He realized how close they were and leaned in a little bit, smiling. "Would it be okay for me to kiss you?"

He didn't know why he asked because he leaned in for a kiss right after he said that, not waiting for a answer.

Her lips were soft and the kiss was soft and shy.

"The no dating coworkers are out the window right now." She smiled when they pulled away.

"Who cared about that anyway?" He joked.

"Yeah, Jenny and Nathan are totally hooking up anyway." She joked back.

A comfortable silence filled the space between them.

Clark knew this is what he wanted when their lips touched again. The soft and bashful kisses, small jokes and the overwhelming butterflies was what he wanted.

His hand cupped her soft cheek as she pulled him into a deep kiss.

There was no going back now, she knew everything and he knew that he was falling fast.
