felt good to be in the wind again

hearing our sweet Harley roars

echoing along the desert highway

black dust blowing off of us

Christmas 2010

weather .. pleasant

temperature near 80

we decided to stop

fill up our tanks

truckstop .. west of Phoenix

Szzay .. Fiarria, the hot redhead

stood to shake off remaining debris

from the Crazy Horse Saloon's blast

a couple of truckers happened by

asked if they needed a ride

Fiarria stomped on their feet

Szzay poked them both in the eyes

HarleyBill and I had a boisterous laugh

watching the truckers limping fast

to get away .. in one piece

upon paying for the gas

we each picked up a case of Bud

cigarette papers .. chewing gum

lottery tickets for the next drawing

a couple of bags of ice

headed for a lonely stretch of desert

we passed stone art .. embedded in sand

just beyond yonder .. ancient mountains

behind centuries old boulders

pulled in to have a beer .. to rest

Szzay and I walked a bit

to cool off from the hot I-10

careful to step around angry, hissing snakes

sun beating down .. paused to drink our beers

spied iguana footprints .. all around

later .. we'd a Christmas party to attend

deciding to save our energy .. walked back

searching for Fiarria and Harley Bill

they were nowhere to be found

his hog sat there .. thump, thump .. idling

all the beer, ice .. cigarette papers .. still there

untouched .. lying atop a smooth .. flat boulder

a peculiar machine like noise

roared through cooling desert air

Szzay and I noticed .. high in the sky .. a UFO
