Chapter 9.2: Kiss and Blood
Everything went well for her though she needs to put up with all of Ojiro's mood swings. Even the nosy media from the presscon hasn't gotten away from it. What would they expect after digging into his privacy? It's such a relief that she already has extracted the gaijin out from his life before everything would get worst.
After the conference, Sakiko-chan, Ojiro's young manager contacted her to meet up and discuss about what happened to the presscon. They ride the elevator together to Ojiro's hotel room and she couldn't help but be utterly annoyed watching the young woman's googly eyes while talking about Ojiro. If she could open the elevator while it goes up, she would kick her out and leave her while she falls to her death.
When they go out of the lift and saw Ojiro on the floor, they knew right then that something is wrong. The two woman both quickly runs toward him in rescue.
"I need to talk to you Ojiro." Kaede heard Nissho is saying and it alerted her. "What is happening here?" she chimed in making Nissho step back from him.
"Why are you not doing anything?!" she turns to the guards. The young manager just stood there, confuse and lost.
"Ojiro, let's go." She carefully helps him up from the floor. "Someone might see you here on the floor and you wouldn't want that to happen."
He staggered up then Yoshio and the other staff guides him quietly to his hotel room, Sakiko joins them leaving her and Nissho alone.
"What did you say to him?" her voice is heavy and her eyes can pierce anyone with its menacing look.
"Kaede. Just stop." Nissho pressed.
"That is the last time I will see you near Ojiro, or you know what will happen." She hissed.
When Kaede went to Ojiro's room, the door was opened by Sakiko who's about to leave.
"I think he needs to be alone. He doesn't seem to be in the mood to have a meeting now." She bows to Kaede apologetically.
Kaede sighs, rolling her eyes. This is what Ojiro get, hiring someone too young for the position. The girl can't even handle him at times like this.
"I'll talk to him." Kaede insisted.
Inside Ojiro's room, Kaede needs to go through the messy stuffs on the floor. His costume, team Japan Jacket and opened clothing luggage's. She found him in his room's balcony. He changed into comfy shirt and pants, and is already in his third can of beer.
"Ojiro." she hums in a calm, sweet voice. "Please. That's enough." Her hand caresses his arm carefully.
He drank the alcohol bottoms up, not making any response. He turns to the table and extends his hand for another can but he staggered, lost his balance. He knocks the table off with him on the floor, sending the cans flying everywhere.
"Ojiro!" Kaede runs to him for a rescue. When she's about to lift him up, her attention goes to his exposed foot under the hem of his pants. Though it's covered with bandaged, she can tell how it is heavily swelling. A shock crosses her face remembering his latest injury.
The mattress groans under Ojiro's weight as he throws himself on it. Kaede helps him carefully sit on the cushions, unhooking his arm around her neck. He leans his head on the bed's wooden railing, his breath reeks of alcohol, his hair is messy. The defeat can be read to his handsome face.
Kaede's eyes welled up. She couldn't bear watching at him looking like that anymore. Where is the strong, brave Ojiro Korishima that she has met before? The man that everyone has been looking up to?
If only he didn't come after that stupid relationship blessing, he will not force himself in challenging the quad axel.
If only he didn't push himself to his limit.
If only he didn't met that gaijin...
Yes, that's right. It was all that gaijin's fault.
Why does she always need to take away everything from her?
"Ojiro, I'm begging you. Mou, Yamete? I can't take this anymore." Her voice shakes. "This is not you." She holds his hand. "You can't just destroy yourself all because of that dirty, corrupted woman..." her voice trails off, forcing to keep herself together in front of him. It's just she couldn't help but to berserk just by thinking about that gaijin.
"I'm here." She speaks so softly, caressing his cheek. "Ojiro..." she leans more to him, closing the distance between them. Her eyes close as her lips brushes gently to his.
Kaede's heart is beating like crazy. How long did she dreamt this kiss to happen again?
Everything that have cost her, all the evil that she has done, she knows it was all worth it.
"Dirty and corrupted...what exactly do you mean by that?" Ojiro murmured.
Kaede opens her eyes in surprise realizing that Ojiro is not returning her kiss.
"W-what?"
"What do you mean by those words?" He turns to her, his face she couldn't read.
Her words hang into the air not knowing to answer.
Ojiro's eyes shots up to her. His sharp, glistening dark eyes stared into her confuse face for a moment. "You knew all along..." he muttered.
"I d-don't understand–"
"So, you know what happened to Louise and all this time...you didn't tell me anything about it."
"I don't know what you're talking about." She got up from the bed, away from him. "You don't dare question me what I wanted to call that woman because look at yourself now! Can't you see? She did this to you!" She blurted out. Her chest and throat tightens and she just wanted to burst out hearing from him with the tiny bits of concern for the gaijin, Kaede felt like she's going out of control. "Open your eyes goddamn it. She gave you nothing but setbacks, she only brought that dishonor upon herself!" She screams.
"Dishonor?" He whisphered. "How did you know that?" Ojiro gets up from the bed and takes his step toward her carefully like a cat. "How did you know she's assaulted?"
She shook her head, tears welling up from her eyes.
"Kaede, answer me." He commanded with the weight of his voice; more tears roll down her cheek.
"It's you right?" Only one look takes Ojiro to understand, a deep frown of anger forms into his face. He grabs Kaede in both shoulders, clasping it tightly. "O-Ojiro, you're hurting me." She cries, trying to wriggle out of his hold.
"What did you do to Louise?!" He screams to her face, his eyes, even if it was wet with tears, are as sharp as someone who has the intention to kill.
Kaede bursts out in tears. She never seen him like that before, completely different from the Ojiro she has always known. He's almost like to be someone who turned into a monster.
"I did it because I still love you." She's crying uncontrollably. For a moment she felt him hold his breath as his jaw tightens.
Kaede turns her face away instinctively when she saw him raise his fist but the hit didn't come. When she looks back to him, she almost jumps from where she's standing when he punches the wall beside him, hitting the framed painting that hanged on it, breaking it into pieces. "Raaaah!!!" he screams in rage, punching it hard over and over again.
"Stop!" Kaede submerged her face into her hands, letting out a cry.
"She's just an ordinary, innocent person. She doesn't know anything about our world Kaede, how could you..." he balled his bloody fist, tears streaming down his face.
Her chest heaves up and down looking at his injured hands but at that moment she decided to go all out. "Stop mentioning that woman's name it makes me sick!" she screams at him. "Why can't you see me? I am here! I am the one who never left your side unlike her! Ojiro..." she steps closer to him and throws herself to his chest. "I never stop loving you. All these years, I never loved someone but you. Didn't you tell me you'd wait for me?" Her face, wet with tears, looks up to him. "You said that, right?"
How can she ever forget that? The first years after they broke up are the toughest for her while she stays at her new training base in New York, and Ojiro never stop connecting to her.
I'll wait for you. That's what his text reads, and she believes it wholeheartedly until she comes back to Japan...only to find him together with a gaijin.
"Yes, it's true. I did say that." She heard Ojiro murmur, his voice dangerously calm. "You do know how I waited for you for so long, Kaede; don't tell me I didn't. Days, weeks, months, and years." His voice is shaking. "I waited for you to come back to me, completely deaf to all the rumors. Blind, even if you're already there in plain sight playing with those guys. I endured all of that." He looks back into Kaede's eyes that were wet from crying. "I did love you, Kaede. Truly. If you ever forget you've wasted all of that long ago, then I shall remind you." He looks straight at her and speaks in a firm voice. "Kaede, we're nothing but done."
"No." she shook her head, crying. "Take me back. I will never, ever leave your side Ojiro; I will do anything." She insists on throwing herself in him again, but this time, Ojiro holds both her shoulders with his bloody hands, distancing himself from her. Her eyes widen in shock at the rejection.
"Kaede, you do know what will happen now, right?" His voice is cold, full of authority. "I will surely find out about everything soon, and I won't let you get away from this."
"You're crazy. You won't last long in this fucking industry without me, Ojiro!" She screams.
"Oh, yeah? Wow, that scared me." He approaches her. His voice might be calmer than before, but his face is shadowed with rage.
A tear rolls down Kaede's eye, but Ojiro's bloody finger wipes it away. "I'll make sure to make you pay for what you've done to Louise, the woman I love."
