Chapter Twenty-Three: Freed

Sean ran his fingers up through Dark's hair, keeping his face to his. Feeling his warm skin and inhaling his musky scent relaxed him to the very core of his being. A small gasp left him when one of Dark's hands moved up his spine. The gesture eased Sean upright and Sean easily adjusted to wrap his legs around Dark's hips. Dark merely adjusted his hands to keep him from falling, allowing Sean to tilt his head back as Sean pressed his lips to his in a hungry kiss. Swept away by his passion, Sean's hand drifted down to Dark's shirt and began unbuttoning it slowly. Dark grinned into the kiss, until Thanatos cleared his throat. Breaking the kiss, Dark shot Thanatos a light glare, but Thanatos simply asked aloud. "Should I come back later?" Wiggling out of Dark's arms, Sean quickly told him. "No. Let's get this off me now. Please?" Thanatos gestured Sean to the chair and without hesitating he obeyed with an eagerness in his steps. Dark lingered by the wall, avoiding Thanatos' eyes now when he walked past him. Thanatos moved to his worktable, while telling Dark neutrally. "Roll your sleeve up. I need your blood." Dark carefully stripped his jacket off and rolled one of his white sleeves up past his elbow. Thanatos glanced between them before saying with amusement. "So, he already told you? Perfect. Saves me a long winded explanation."

Sean chuckled, watching Dark smirk only for him. Sean's smile faded when he saw the large needle that Thanatos removed from a black bag. Dark held out his arm fearlessly, telling Sean coolly. "You don't have to look." Swallowing. Sean asked Thanatos shakily. "You said you just needed a drop. That... that is a thick fucking needle." Thanatos rubbed something on Dark's skin, while telling Sean bluntly. "For your ring it will take a drop. The master will need a bit more. Plus, I always like having extra. Just in case the first attempt fails. He'll be fine." Sean winced and looked away shamefully when Thanatos jammed the needle into Dark's skin. Sean's cheeks burned, listening to Thanatos tell Dark casually. "Clench your fist for me. Relax them, count to three and clench again." After a few seconds, Thanatos removed the needle and told them coolly. "Perfect. You can sit down now." Dark pulled a stool over to sit by the chair and Sean mumbled out. "Sorry." Raising an eyebrow, Dark asked him curiously. "Sorry about what?" Sean cautiously reached out to take Dark's arm. Thumbing the skin around Dark's wound, he reluctantly told him. "I shouldn't look away... but..." Dark lightly cut him off to tease back. "I don't need you to look. I barely felt it."

Rolling his eyes, Sean shook his head and told him bluntly. "No. Dark, it is more than that. I shouldn't... I should... I don't want you to think that you have to change for me." Dark's expression became confused. Forcing Sean to add gently. "I mean that... I understand you're a demon. That you do things and hurt people. And I don't want you to think that I'm... scared of that. Of you. I want to... be someone you can talk to about it. I just don't want to turn you into something you are not because... you feel that you are protecting me. Or that you think being you isn't who I want you to be." Dark's hand rose to touch Sean's cheek, before asking sweetly. "Why are you telling me this?" Swallowing, Sean nervously glanced at Thanatos' back before telling Dark honestly. "I saw how Verine is around his humans. They accept everything he is. They know what he does... I'm engaged to you, and I still don't know what you do. You know everything about me... but I feel like... you're still hiding things from me." Dark's thumb brushed over Sean's cheekbone gently, before whispering to him. "I guess you're right. But this sword has two edges, Sean. I don't want you to change because of what I am. It's easy for me to change, but if you were to darken because of me and what I do... I don't think I could bare it."

Chuckling, Sean rolled his eyes and told him coolly. "I understand... but if Anti is who I was... I think I can handle it. Just break it to me slowly." Leaning in, Dark whispered over his lips. "As you wish." Dark's kiss was light over his lips, teasing him with a gentleness that made Sean's heart skip. When Dark eased back, Sean started to follow, until Thanatos told them without making eye contact with them. "Alright. Want to give this a try?" Sean gripped Dark's arm and Dark carefully clasped his hands over his arms to hold it steady. Thanatos leaned in with his tools, starting to work on the ring while telling Dark openly. "What is your plan to deal with Khaos?" Dark looked away from both of them, stating flatly. "I'm... still thinking." Thanatos huffed to himself, retorting bluntly. "You can't think with him so close, can you?" Dark let out a growl, while Sean blushed a deep shade of red. Coming to Dark's defense though, Sean told Thanatos lightly. "He was worried about me. Give him time. He'll come up with something. He always does." Thanatos smirked to himself. Dark met Sean's eyes and Sean winked at him. After a minute, Thanatos picked up a little dropper with Dark's blood and eased it into the ring to put the drop in a little vessel within it.

Everyone seemed to hold their breath as they waited. A soft click sounded, and the ring loosened up on Sean's finger until it was too big for him. He didn't even get a chance to feel relieved because Dark quickly snatched it off his finger. Thanatos took a second to check on Sean's slightly reddened finger, before getting up and catching the ring that Dark tossed to him. Catching it, Thanatos took it away while Dark snapped out. "Melt that shit down. I never want to see it again." Biting his lip, Sean slipped out of the chair, telling Thanatos desperately. "No! Wait. Dark... What if we keep them?" Dark blinked and Thanatos froze in place both of them sporting lost looks. Shuffling his feet, Sean took Dark's wrist before telling him lovingly. "If you wear the master ring and I keep this one... You'll never have to worry about me taking it off." Dark shared a brief look with Thanatos, then taking both of Sean's hands, he kneeled and told Sean so passionately. "No, Sean. That's not what I want for you. I can control pretty much everything in my life... I don't want the power to control you. Even the temptation of it. If I get upset or mad... I want you to have the power to get in my face and fight me. Besides... they will remind me of what she wanted to do to you. I want our rings to be... ours."

The smile that spread over Sean's face warmed his cheeks, when he whispered back. "Ok. That's a fair point... but I will miss having something there. I feel naked now." Sean meant it as a joke, but Dark pulled his hands back and looked at his fingers before pulling off one of his rings. Sean started to protest, but Dark took his hand and slipped the ring onto his finger, sweetly interjecting. "It's just a temporary place holder. Until you can find one you like. But at least... This one is from me. Don't lose it." Sean tilted his hand to see it better. Out of all the rings that he'd seen Dark wear that were big and bold, he found this one to be simple and he liked it. It was a slender black band with rose gold edges. In the center was a small diamond shaped ruby and on either side of it were small circular shaped white diamonds. Curling his fingers around it, Sean asked curiously. "Where did you get it? It's not your usual thick band and large ruby design." Easing up onto his feet, Dark mumbled out to him soft enough that Thanatos couldn't hear. "That was the first ring I ever bought. It's made with a rare red diamond. The rarest diamond in the world. It means a lot to me... Just like you." Stepping in to hug Dark, Sean whispered to him. "I'll take care of it."

Dark kissed Sean's temple, hugging him close when he told Thanatos humbly. "Thank you. Please, destroy them." Thanatos nodded, turning away from them as he answered coolly. "With pleasure." Turning Sean around, Dark led him out of the shed and toward one of the fields. The soft sprinkle of rain felt good on Sean's heated skin. Using a chill as his excuse to snuggle more against Dark, he told him softly. "Could you kill her? She is a god, isn't she?" Dark inhaled slowly, staring out at the horizon when he said truthfully. "She is... and I don't know. My plan was to burn everything down to find you... but now that I have you. I just don't care enough..." Chuckling, Sean took a step away from Dark, but Dark held his wrist with a sudden worried look. Letting him keep ahold of him, Sean shrugged out. "Dark, she wants you to kill everyone. To hit reset. To... let me go." Dark grip on his wrist tightened, but Sean didn't mind and added sweetly. "I was thinking... if we get the Dominion on our side... If we get married. She will lose what she wants most. You. So... if you don't want to fight her... but want to piss her off in the worst way... Marry me. Bind yourself to me." Dark pulled Sean closer, lifting Sean's chin as he purred over his lips playfully. "That could kill her... but she's always regrated making you."

Kissing Dark lightly, Sean playfully teased back. "I guess... I'm filled with a little too much chaos." Dark purred, hugging him as he kissed him for a long minute. Sean thought he'd kiss him forever, when Natemare asked them curiously. "I hope you have a plan. Because Anti is about ready to kill Verine over his... impersonations of him." Raising an eyebrow, Sean blurted out. "Impersonations? What is he doing?" Natemare's eyes darted to Dark, when he chuckled out. "I'll let you answer that one. In the meantime... What do we do with Anti?" Groaning, Dark told him seriously. "Take Anti for a run. I will... talk to Verine." Natemare nodded, backing away to head back inside. Once he was gone, Sean asked curiously. "Well?" Sighing heavily, Dark mumbled out. "Verine... He has this ability to change into people that he's around that he claims are filled with passion. And... we were fighting because... he looked like you. And he was... dancing." Sean blinked, then burst out laughing. When he noticed that Dark wasn't laughing, he stopped to tease gently. "So... you were jealous of people watching my body dance. Or... were you upset because you liked it?" Dark crossed his arms, grumbling out. "Are you going to ask if he was making you look bad?"

Brushing his bangs away from his eyes, Sean huffed out honestly. "No. I've seen Verine dance. He's good. And... oh my god, it is because you liked it..." Dark started to walk away, prompting Sean to chase after him, chuckling out. "Are you upset that I don't dance like that?" Dark shot over his shoulder firmly. "No. I hated it. He was making you look like a-" From the open window of the house, Verine cut him off to correct loudly. "Liar! It was hard to place your lust among the lusty, but it was there. You liked seeing him dance. You're pissed it was me." Dark threw his jacket at Verine, causing Verine to flinch back into the house but shout out. "Temperamental bitch!" Moving closer to the window, Sean asked curiously. "Why did you dance as me?" Verine leaned back on the windowsill, before answering casually. "That's how I fooled Khaos. I made her believe that you bolted from Nicon and came back to me. She was pissed... but when I told her that I was forcing you to dance as punishment... to warm you up for Nicon. She backed off a bit." Turning slightly to look at Dark, Sean grinned but Dark turned away from them. Leaning a bit farther out the window, Verine whispered into Sean's ear. "He needs you. Bad. I think smelling your blood and worrying about you has made him... moody. If you get my drift."

Giggling a little, Sean moved away from the window and took Dark's arm carefully. Leading him away from the house and far out into a small dirt clearing of the field, Sean turned to face Dark and told him shyly. "I'm ready to get any trace of Nicon's smell off me now." Dark reached out to touch Sean's hip, walking around him slowly. Sean closed his eyes, inhaling deeply as Dark's hand drifted from his hip to his lower back and around to the front of his pants. Gripping the front of his jeans, Dark jerked him closer to him and began unfastening them. Sean stared at Dark with his soft eager eyes, loving how Dark's dark eyes seemed to gleam with shades of blue and red. Standing up against him, Dark's warm hands slid under the fabric to push his pants down while stroking his ass. When Dark kneeled to continue to push his pants down and stroked the back of his thighs, Sean breathlessly told him. "You really want to do this here?" Dark's lips kissed a sensitive spot where Sean's leg met his pelvis, causing Sean to lightly whimper as it tickled. Lifting his head back, Dark told him honestly. "Anywhere is fine. As long as you are there." Sean giggled, resting his hands on Dark's shoulders. A soft moan broke from his throat as Dark's warm breath puffed up his stomach. Placing a kiss at the base of his ribs, Dark whispered to him in a deep voice. "I'm sorry I didn't find you sooner..."

Shaking his head, Sean ran his hands through Dark's hair, breathlessly whispering back. "Don't. I'm here. I'm safe with you. Just... forget." Dark stood up, his eyes glaring at the fading bite on Sean's neck where two fangs had pierced his skin. Noticing Dark's deep aggressive throaty growl, Sean exposed his neck and told him sternly. "Remove it. Bite me. Make me bleed." Dark snorted hot waves of heat, leaning in to gently press his teeth to the marks. Sean placed his hands on Dark's sides, inhaling deeply as he waited for what Dark would do. With a deep growl, Dark bite him... hard. Yet, not enough to pierce his flesh. Just enough that the fading marks vanished under the freshly bruised bite mark. A bite that while a bit painful, made Sean's heart skip a beat. He was ready to be his and only his. To Be Continued...
