Chapter 21.
Cleo's POV.
"I know! Please let's just check it out." Mackenzie begs me as we near the clothing store. Mackenzie loves buying her undergarments at Calvin Klein. Yes, I understand many people love it, but Mackenzie is just too obsessed, every time we go out together, we just have to check out Calvin Klein.
I groan as I stand in front of Calvin Klein. "Fine!" I practically wine as Kenzie drags me into the store.
Mackenzie got here early this morning and I told her everything. From the start where I went out for a walk after everyone fell asleep, I went to the cafe, since the cafe is my second home. I got Robert there, I was kidnapped and held hostage. Cameron and Mason came to save me with the cops. I told her how I had my first traumatizing panic attack and I landed in the hospital of how severe it was. I took it to the point that Cameron asked me out -- properly this time -- and I said yes, I gave the ring back and of how tired I was that I couldn't reply. I never had the chance to ask Mason about Robert, so I can't tell Mackenzie if his dead or in jail. I left the adoption home thing out.
In the end, she was just glad that I was okay and she vowed to never let anything happen to me again. I told her not to vow something like that because she's not always with me. We hung out until she decided that we go out. We went for breakfast, bought a few clothing and accessories. Mason's birthday is on Saturday, after the day I go to the child. I want to plan a party but Mason is not much of a party person. I'm going to plan it anyway.
"Hey, Kenz. So Mason's birthday is coming up Saturday, please, please please, help me plan his party. He's turning thirty and I want to make this a big one." I beg as she squeals over every panty and bra set she sees. "Are you even going to buy any of these?" Taking a set into my hands, I trace the knitted fabric. It's not bad but it's too formal to hide under your clothes. Why buy so fancy, that no one is going to see?
"Of course I'm buying something, I'm looking for the right one," the right one? She has so many sets in her hands and hanging from her arm, "and yes, of course, I'll help you plan the party." She stops near the fitting room and enters. "Firstly, why are you telling me this now only? It's Wednesday for god's sake, you only have two days to plan a big party for your brother. He's entering his naughty thirties, you want it to be great, don't you?" Well, to be honest, I want it to be amazing but I never really thought about his birthday, after all that's been going on.
"I want it to be great, which is why I'll need you to help me plan it." I smile, though she can't see me. She walks out of the fitting room and swirls around. "What the hell! Are you crazy? They're gonna see you, look at those guys walking past." J whisper shouts at her for walking out of the dressing room half-naked. This isn't a very big store. It only sells undergarments and Calvin Klein fragrances at the counter.
"Please. They can stop and stare but they aren't getting any of it." She says before walking back into the fitting room to fit on way more undergarments.
I sit down on the L shaped bean bag that settles bear the dressing room. If you walk out of the room and walk a furthermore down, the bean bag is there. I watch as Mackenzie model's every bra and panty she took in for testing. I must say it's all beautiful, especially on her beautiful inner figure. I have such a beautiful best friend.
I haven't been friends with an Asian before and being friends with Mackenzie, who is Asian, is amazing. She's so beautiful and has a perfect smile. Really. Her smile will warm your heart.
(A/N: Just to say, that I imagine Mackenzie as Lisa Manoban from Blackpink. Some of y'all would know her if you're into pop. So if you want, before you read on, you can search who Lisa is and you'll see that beautiful heartwarming smile of hers. Okay, I'm getting annoyed now, so I'll leave you to it. Enjoy <3!)
The way her cheeks gets so chubby when she smiles, her adorable poker face, her unique fashion style and her beautiful voice. Though she can't sing, she has an amazing voice, with such a thick and seductive accent. Mackenzie is my best friend, my sister, not by blood but by choice.
After what feels like ages, we made it out of the store. Mackenzie merrily hopping around happy, that she got new undergarments. It's going to be a long day.
Cameron's POV.
My chest beats faster and faster as I near my dad's office. I don't think having this conversation with him will be helpful but I hope he is helpful. Its been so long since I've had a conversation about girls with my dad, but I'm 28. Still a daddy's boy.
I enter his office and realise this is a bad idea. As I turn around, I mentally slap myself. "Cameron! Ah, what brings you to my humble office?" My dad asks as I stop in front of the doorway.
Turning around to face him, I smile, the most genuine one yet. "Dad," I say through my teeth, still smiling. I sigh as I walk near his old fashioned, yet pretty decent desk. "I need help."
I sit down on the chair opposite his desk. He types on the laptop while I make myself comfortable in the uncomfortable chair. The ceiling was a dark white, not so bright, but[ if the lights were to be on the office would look modern, though it's not. The walls are dark a grey, surrounded by all light cabinets, tables, chairs, all clutter. His vintage desk takes almost most of the space in this office.
"Okay," my dad says as he moves his chair more inner to the desk. "What do you need my help with a son?" I look down embarrassed that I'm having this conversation with my dad when I'm 28 years old. I should have experience for god's sake, but Cleo isn't one of those girls from my fuck boy days, she's different.
"Well," I sigh, I have no idea how to start this conversation but I'm gonna say it "it's about a girl," I say, looking down, knowing what he's going to say.
"It's about time!" He yells excitedly, laughing with excitement. Not the reaction I was expecting. I don't know what I expected, but it wasn't this. He moves to sit more comfortably, taking something out of his draw. "Do you want it?" He asks and I look up to him offering me some red wine. I shake my head a 'No'. I don't drink during the week unless it's an occasion or something, then I do.
"Anyways, I like this girl. She's beautiful, smart, amazing; really. She takes my worries away just by smiling. She's been through a lot, I swear I can tell. She's built up walls and I want to break them down, to get to her," I pause, letting out a deep sigh before continuing "I want to take her out and make her happy. I want to see her smile more often and laugh and giggle and blush. I want to compliment her every day of her life and.." I'm being cut by my dad's question.
"Do you love her, son?" My dad asks me and I take a while before answering.
To be honest, I don't know what love is. I can't tell if I love her or if it's just me having a crush on her. This thing that I'm feeling, it will probably go away, but I don't want it to go anywhere. I want to crush on her till I love her.
"I don't know what love is," I say honestly. I'm glad there isn't tension between us about having this conversation.
He sighs before refilling his glass with some wine and passing it to me. "You'll need it." He states and I take the glass from him, taking a few sips before putting it down in front of me.
