Chapter - 22
"Who is he?"
"He is damn sexy."
"Yes, he is indeed. I am mean, look at the way he is playing."
Swara heard some rumblings from back. She slightly turned to see four blond girls sitting at her back keeping their eyes on her dear husband who was playing lawn tennis.
"That's a game for Sanskar." Referee announces, followed by a round of claps.
Swara turned back to stare at her husband, he was dressed in navy blue coloured athletic shirt with white shorts looking ridiculously handsome. He bounced the ball a couple of times then he threw it in the air and smashed it with his racquet in a flat serve. It was so hard and powerful that the opponent could not even get a chance to reach, earning a smashing ace for Sanskar.
Swara clapped as her husband earned one more point.
It's been two weeks since they both were in New York.
Sanskar started going to his office the next day of their arrival whereas with Swara, she made herself busy in preparing for her upcoming recording of the song during his office timings. Their home had one room dedicated to her musical passion. Thanks to her loving husband!
In the evening, when Sanskar used to come back, it was their quality time. Sometimes they used to cook together, watch films cuddling with each other, or go out to see different places followed by dinner outs.
This trip was acting as a 'knowing him more' an assignment for Swara.
His cooking skills in the kitchen amazed her whereas his craze to play lawn tennis baffled her.
Last weekend, he asked her to join him to some ' Club'. She went along with him but was stunned when she saw him playing tennis. She realised for sure, he was not any novice but a professionally trained veteran.
"I always loved to play tennis, it's like a meditation for me." This was his reply when she had asked her husband about it during their brunch after his match. And that moment she remembered how crazily he used to follow Wimbledon, US Open or French Open.
"Woooh '' Cheering sound, and round of applause from back broke Swara's train of thoughts. She saw her husband shaking his hand with his opponent with a bright smile, for sure he ended up being a winner. He turned to see in her direction, he raised his racquet, took a bow and then threw a flying kiss to her.
"Ohh my goodness." One more round of cheering from Swara's back
"He is looking here." Another came instantly.
"Love you hottie." Girls cheered, jumping at their place. They were oblivious of the murderous glare thrown at them from Swara.
"He is coming here." One of them spoke unbelievably.
Swara turned abruptly so see her husband coming in their direction.
"Hey, handsome." Even before Swara or Sanskar spoke a single word, one girl interrupted, capturing their attention.
Sanskar passed a quick glance at his wife, she was looking at the girls with the expression of wounded lioness ready to pounce on her prey. He pressed his lips to suppress his chuckle. His wife was over possessive when it comes to him.
"Hey beautiful." Sanskar replied teasingly.
Swara swiftly turned to glare at her husband who was openly flirting with girls in front of his lovely wife.
"You were amazing on the court." Girl bypassed Swara.
"Trust me, I couldn't take my eyes from you." Another girl was about to hold his hand.
"Really? I appreciate your compliments." Sanskar was in his teasing mode keeping corner eyes on his fuming wife.
'Ohh god his american accent.' Swara adored his American accent over the last two weeks. Again one more realization about his quality. 'Not again. Concentrate Swara.'
"Are you free tonight? We can hangout." One of the girls asked flirtingly.
"I would love to but sorry I am not free tonight." Sanskar replied playfully. "I have a date."
"No way please. Do you have a girlfriend?" Girls sulked.
"No, he has a beautiful wife. And he loves his wife from moon to back as a faithful husband." Swara finally spoke with authority, wrapping her hand around her husband's arm.
"Let's go Sanskar." She did not give a single chance for any of them to blurt out even a single word leaving behind pouting girls.
"What was it?" Swara asked fumingly the moment they were out of the court sitting area. "You were openly flirting with those girls. How dare you Sanskar?" She poked her ring finger in his chest.
"Swara, my jhansi ki raani, at last you should be the one who knew, that you have wrapped this Sanskar Maheshwari around your little finger long back." He enveloped his arms around her waist.
"You better keep this in your mind." She spoke intently, wrapping her arms around his neck.
"Now are you not concerned about watchful eyes surrounding us?" Sanskar knew his wife's apprehensions of romancing in public, and right now they both were standing at the lounge facility of the club and their romance was treat for on going public.
"I don't care." She tiptoed to kiss his cheek.
"Romantic mood, not bad Mrs. Maheshwari." Sanskar teased. "I am a VVIP member of this club... for sure they can offer us some privacy." He pulled her on his body wrapping his arms around her waist.
"I don't mind." He raised his eye in astonishment hearing her reply. She continued, "What should I do? There is always an effect of the accompaniment." She tiptoed to give a peck on his lips.
"Are you seducing me? For sure I need cold shower now. You can wait in the lounge." He responded, before leaving.
Swara sat on one of the arm chairs of lounge swiping pictures they had clicked over the last two weeks. Her finger halted at one of the pictures, it was her and Sanskar's selfie. Sanskar had captured it three days back.
Three days back, the timeline had opened up the old scars bringing back old memories of that horrendous day. This was the same day a year back she had walked out of their marriage destroying their blissful life.
In the morning she woke up with a severe headache. Last night she couldn't sleep. Early in the morning after long efforts she could sleep for a few hours. Flashes of their breaking moments were haunting, piercing thousands of daggers in her heart. Her mind was surrounded with numerous 'ifs' and 'buts.' over the happenings.
Sanskar had sensed her anguish, without saying a single word he had enveloped her in his embrace. His condition was no different than hers. His mind was blaming him again and again for his outrage on that fateful day. Tears were continuously rolling over his cheeks. None of them spoke even a word but spent the entire night weeping in each other's embrace.
It was Sanskar who woke up first in the morning, when there was a continuous beep sound from his mobile. He picked up his mobile, turning it on silent mode, hitting a message about his absence from office for a day.
He woke up without disturbing her sleep, not before leaving a quick peck on her forehead.
Swara opened her eyes when she felt the loss of his warmth. But severe headache and body pain weakened her will to get up from bed. She kept on tossling staring far.
"Good morning Swara." She felt his presence beside her. He was sitting at her back. His words left on deaf ears.
"It's 10, wake up my love." He pushed back the hair strand falling on her forehead. "Go get freshen up." He planted a kiss on her hairs caressing them. Touch of his warm lips on her skin broke her reverie.
"Hmm." She hummed, gathering all her strength to get up from bed. Without meeting her swollen eyes, she left for the washroom for her routine.
Swara came out from the washroom to see Sanskar lost in his thoughts. Both were very well aware about each other's state of mind.
"I will make brunch. When do you need to go?" She asked, again not meeting her eyes with his.
"I am not going to the office. I will stay at home." He said getting up.
"Ok" Swara tried to escape from the situation.
"Let's make it together." He initiated.
"No, I will make it. It's ok." Swara turned to leave.
"Swara." His woeful call made her stop in her tracks. "Let's make it together." He gathered his composure while taking a step towards her.
Both prepared brunch and settled down on kitchen island to eat, but today, for the first time, the kitchen witnessed the deadly silence between soulmates.
Sanskar observed his wife for the entire day, she had closed herself in her shell. Entire day, both of them spent reminiscing about events that happened from last year and criticising their own self.
Each passing moment was opening the old scars passing shudders down their spine. Today, both of them could not even believe their own actions and hurtful words spoken to each other. Swara could not match her teary eyes with him recalling her accusings whereas Sanskar was cursing himself for breaking the pious thread of their relationship.
"Swara, let's forget the past." He tugged her arm and took her towards the couch.
Swara raised her eyelashes to see his remorseful face, he was staring at her with helplessness.
"How can we forget the absolute blunder of our life?" she cross questioned.
Sanskar tried to find words to formulate an answer. "It's a past, Swara."
"Past" Swara passed a humorous chuckle. "Past... always defines the present and future." She spoke looking far away but tears rolled over her cheeks.
"I need to keep reminding myself about our past Sanskar.... So I don't make the same mistakes in our present and future." Swara spoke determinedly. Sanskar could sense absolute surety in her voice and actions.
"First thing, it was not solely your mistake but ours..." Sanskar was interrupted.
"No Sanskar... No..." Swara shook her head vigorously. "Even though at that point of time it was our mistake... But I pushed you to till your edge. Always, I took decisions in our marriage single handedly. I prioritised every other thing, every other relation over our marriage.... Over your trust... over our love. And while doing it I myself crushed our blessed married life. It was my wish to have a big fat happy family and to keep them happy and together I myself ruined our marriage." Tears were continuously flowing from her eyes.
"Swara... please don't blame yourself." Sanskar wrapped his arm around her shoulder pulling her in his side embrace.
"No... Sanskar. It was my mistake to take you for granted on every step of our life. It was my mistake to hide things from you.... It was my mistake to go against your wish.... It was my crime to break your oath.... It was my sin to abuse your trust and love for my selfish motives. I walked away from our marriage... I gave up on my sindoor and mangalsutra... Do you know what it means when a Suhagaan gives away her marital symbols? I hate myself when I even think about it... I disgust myself." She was crying her heart out soaking his shirt with her continuous tears.
Sanskar kept on caressing her hairs without saying a word, he knew she needed to take out her anguish, she was holding from last year.
After a long time, he made her look at him cupping her face in his palms. "Swara, please stop crying. You know I cannot see tears in your eyes. They crumble my knees. I can fight with the whole word but your tears just take away my strength."
"Have you ever regretted falling in love with me? Did you regret marrying me?" She asked out of nowhere the question haunting her from the last 365 days.
"What are you saying Swara?" Her unexpected question stunned Sanskar. "How can you even say this? Meeting you... falling in love with you.. gave purpose to my dark life. Your love, your support is essential for my heart to function.... Marrying you...was the best thing that ever happened in my life. You, our love, our marriage is so precious to me... Having you as my life partner makes me the happiest person on this earth..." He narrated putting all his love in his words. His honest eyes acted as much needed remedy for her crumbled heart.
"You are my life Swara, without you I am no one... I'm just a lifeless corpse." He shrugged his shoulders lamely.
"Don't say this." She put her palm on his mouth, shaking her head vigorously. Fear of losing him listening to his words shivered her.
"I am not going anywhere, Swara." He pulled her in his embrace.
"I will not let you go away anywhere. You are mine. Only mine." Swara wrapped her hands around his neck.
"Where will I go, Swara? You are my home." He kissed her forehead, releasing their hug.
"And you are my breath." She confessed honestly. Both spent entire evening cuddling confessing and apologizing for their misdeeds.
Later in the evening, Swara occupied herself with song preparation as Sanskar had an important meeting which he was attending through a call from his study.
After his meeting, he walked towards the music room, he stood at the doorstep taking support of the door frame looking at his wife. She was singing holding her guitar in her hands and the room was reverberating with her melodious voice and strumming guitar.
It was a treat for his eyes to see his wife's peaceful face with a beautiful smile after a long time. She finished her song leaving a deep sigh, opening her big doe eyes which fall on her husband's stilled figure.
"Wow, that was out of the world." He clapped, taking a step inside.
"Thanks." she smiled, taking out guitar from her shoulders.
"Come with me. I have something for you." He held her hand. He knew, even after their talk a few hours back her mind was still flooded with thoughts of those awful memories. He needed to take steps to pull her out from their past. "No actually for us."
His words left Swara in a confused state of mind.
Holding her hand he took her out at the back of their house in the garden. Garden was illuminating under moonlight. Twinkling stars, chill breeze, aroma of different flowers, patio lights were enhancing the beauty of the professionally landscaped garden.
"What are we doing over here?" Swara asked cluelessly.
"You know, we both are fascinated with stars twinkling in the open sky. Let's revive our marriage vows under this starry sky. Moon and stars will act as witnesses. I want to remember this day like this for the rest of my life." He spoke essentially.
"Haa?" Swara was still clueless with his sudden ask.
"I, Sanskar Maheshwari, take Swara Maheshwari, to be my wife, and I do promise and covenant, before Moon and these stars, to be your loving and faithful husband in plenty and in want, in joy and in sorrow, in sickness and in health, as long as we both shall live." He took a round around the small fire pit kept in the middle of the patio furniture.
"It's your turn, Swara." He encouraged when she kept on looking at him blankly.
She smiled with teary eyes. "I, Swara Sanskar Maheshwari, promise to be Sanskar Maheshwari's honest, faithful, and loving wife for the rest of my days."
"Today, I promise to be your navigator and sidekick in all of life's adventures. I promise you myself completely." He took the second round holding her hand.
"I pledge to honour you, love you, and cherish you as my husband today and every day." She followed him, not moving her eyes from his face.
"Today I named my life to yours, not simply as your husband, but as your friend, your lover, and your biggest supporter. Let me be the shoulder you lean on and the companion of your life." He spoke his heart out taking the third round.
"I vow patience, honesty, adoration and prioritisation of our marriage as long as we both shall live." She confessed feeling blessed to find him as her soulmate.
"I promise to always protect you from harm, to stand with you against your troubles. Any adversity in our life, we will be a team to resolve." Sanskar took the fourth round.
"I promise not to plan any of my missions without consulting with you. I won't be hiding even the smallest thing between us." Swara replied, he blinked his eyes assurance.
"I promise to respect, admire and appreciate you for who you are, as well as for the person you wish to become." Sanskrar promised.
"I promise to seek a deep understanding of your wishes, your desires, your fears, and your dreams." Swara nodded with a blink of assurance.
"No matter how difficult the situation is, I will take your opinion before making any decision." Sanskar had earned wisdom from past mistakes.
"I promise to persevere when times get tough, knowing that any challenges we might face, we will conquer them together." Swara repeated in her own words.
"I vow to fiercely love you in all of your forms, now and forever. I promise to never forget this once-in-a-lifetime love. And to always know in the deepest part of my soul that no matter what challenges might carry us apart, we will always find our way back to each other." Sanskar completed the seventh round around the fire.
"I promise to love you, cherish, trust and respect you till my last breath. I promise to maintain the work in progress status of our marriage. I will never give up on you and on our marriage. No running – ever. Nobody walks out no matter what happens. I will choose you above all others to share my life in marriage. This is forever." She kissed their intertwined hands.
Sanskar released his hold over her hand and pulled her in his embrace wrapping his arms around her petite figure.
"I love you Swara." He confessed burying his face in her hair.
"I love you Sanskar." She replied against his heart which was beating with her name.
Sanskar could not control himself and released their embrace. Before Swara could realize, she felt a pair of warm lips sucking on to hers. Suddenly, it felt like she unleashed a storm in the form of passion.
He started kissing her passionately when her arms moved up till his shoulders. He pulled her, making her stand on his feet to deepen their kiss. Both didn't realise how much time passed but they just kept on kissing each other. To take a breath, they pulled back. Sanskar saw his wife, she still had closed eyes and was breathing heavily.
Few seconds later, she opened her eyes, only to make him go senseless. He again cupped her face and started peppering kisses all over her face. Holding her firmly against his body, his lips moved to her neck cherishing her sweet spot. Her fragile fingers were running in his hair increasing his crave to mark her his after a year.
For the last 6 months both were living under the same house, in the same room but the walls of insecurity, trust issues, old scars stood tall in front of their primitive desire to declare their love over their soulmate in the best possible way. But today, every wall, every guard had fallen down liberating their eternal love under the open sky.
The intimacy was burning them and both were flowing in their emotions which were now out of control. Going back to her face, he kissed her jaw, chin and again lips while his fingers were running in her hair to feel her.
"Sanskar please." Her pale voice broke his trance.
He pulled himself back and created distance between them.
"Do you want me to stop?" He asked caressing her cheeks with his thumb.
"I don't want you to stop." She said, staring into his eyes. "Make me yours. Again." She whispered in his ears before kissing his earlobe.
Her heart shivered for her own demand, she knew the intensity of his love. In the past, before their separation, she has witnessed his fierce, ardent expression of love for her. Just reminiscing about their old time enriched her cheeks with cherry red colour, thinking about upcoming blissful moments.
He held chin to make her look into his eyes. His heart flooded with fervid emotions looking at her honest eyes. He picked her in his arms in bridal style, keeping his eyes on her cherry red face he stepped inside their home and walked towards their room. He gently placed her on the bed and hovered over her. Their gaze was still the same intense.
"I love you." He whispered in her ear and kissed it.
"Sanskar." she moaned his name slowly.
He travelled sweet kisses from her ear to neck to collarbone and then he moved to her right shoulder removing her tops sleeve. A slow moan escaped from her mouth feeling his intense kisses. His hands were roaming on her waist making her more restless for him. She fisted the bed cover when his hot lips touched her bare shoulder. His kisses were giving her a new world of much familiar sensations. Her hands reached to his shoulder, but she shivered, feeling warmth of his bare skin. She was so lost in his touch that she did not even realise when he removed his shirt.
Both were lost in each other. He was showering his love on her and she was melting in his arms. They both explored each other again after a long separation. Inspite of their past experience with each other, both trembled in each other's arms.
Heat, crave, need inside his body, heart and soul was burning him to the core, but in his passion to mark her as his once again he did not want to hurt her. She was his most precious possession.
The night was passing with him showering his love on her and they became one in true senses once again. The pain, tears, their hatred, their separation everything was fading away as they were making love to each other breaking every barrier while announcing their hidden love and desires to each other.
After a few hours of their passionate love making, Sanskar was staring at his wife. She was looking far, resting her head on his bare chest and drawing patterns with her delicate fingers.
'This was a thing she always did after our love making in the past. Nothing has changed.' Thought crossed his mind. He held her delicate fingers and pulled them till his lips to give a quick peck.
His actions broke her reverie, she raised her head to look in his eye. Her swollen lips, dishevelled hairs, cherry red cheeks, smeared sindoor, warm, sweaty delicate figure cuddling to his bare skin under a blanket was arousing his need to make love to her once again. He gulped heavily to suppress his desires, they already had a couple of rounds tiring themselves. For sure, she needed some rest.
"Are you ok?" He asked shifting back her hair strand falling on her face. "Did I hurt you?"
'This is the same question he asked me everytime in the past. He is still the same.' She smiled at her thought.
"Was I rough on you? I am sorry if I was... It's been a long time... I had you." He was caressing her cheeks.
"I love you Sanskar." She captured his lips in a passionate kiss silencing him.
Sanskar reciprocated to her with an equally blazing response turning and hovering over her.
"Now don't tempt me please. You are a perfect temptress... My drug, addicting me." He kissed her forehead. "I don't want to exhaust you. Sleep for sometime. I will wake you up once food is ready." He reluctantly released his grip over her figure.
"What will you make?" She asked snuggling to his side of the pillow covering her bare body under the blanket.
"What do you want to eat?" He asked, wearing his track pants.
"Anything which is quick and easy. I am getting lazy to get up." She winked at him with an alluring smile.
"You don't need to make any efforts to seduce me, my dear wifey." He smiled looking at her cute pout. "I will be back in 15 minutes."
Just as he said, Sanskar was back to their room in 15 minutes, holding two bowls filled with Mac-n-Cheese. When he entered inside, he saw his wife, she was lying on bed carelessly, wearing his shirt.
He knew her craziness in the past, to wear his shirt after their make outs. And he loved to see her in his clothes. Every shirt she has worn till date, has become his favourite.
Even after three days, events happened replaying in front of Swara's eyes leaving a serene smile on her lips.
Swara graced her fingers over their smiling faces, selfie was taken after consuming their reunion binding two soulmates in undying bond. Both were eating Mac-n-Cheese prepared by her husband with a smile.
"Finally, we found each other." Swara mumbled, leaving a deep sigh.
