Chapter 54
Third Person POV:
📍Ascot, Berkshire, England.
Ascot Racecourse hosts horse races where wealthy and powerful families either get their horses in the race or bet money on the other horses. Veronica stepped out of the car with Armaan waving at the camera. She was on the theme of the event which had big hats including Armaan wore a simple yet classy tux and walked past avoiding the flashy cameras.
Ishita stepped out of the car at a different entrance she adjusted her blazer and mumbled under her breath, "This hat is so big that I might trip...". Ritika cleared her throat, "It was necessary Ishita you didn't need to fire that fashion specialist. She just helped you to be on the theme..." Ishita rolled her eyes, "I don't care... did you get the seat next to Yusuf?" she nodded, "Yes... and have included our horses in the race. She nodded her head and walked inside adjusting her hat.
A lot of security guards surrounded the deck; Ishita passed them getting to her seat. Ritika nudged pointing at the guy wearing a white Afghani turban. "That's Yusuf..." Ishita raised her brows and walked close to that guy. He had his back towards her talking to some man standing in front of him, Ishita silently stood behind him and was going to call out his name. The man talking to Yusuf gestured to him mentioning someone's presence behind Yusuf. He knits his brows and turns to face Ishita, she gave him a sweet smile and forwarded her hand to give her an introduction but Yusuf chuckled mentioning, "Ishita... what are you doing here? As much as I remember you used to hate gatherings."
She raised her brows in confusion and glimpsed at Ritika, she was as confused as her. Ishita awkwardly smiled, "Um... that's true but how do you know me? Have we met before sorry if that sounds mean but I'm bad at remembering names and faces?". Yusuf smiled at her, "I'm aware of it..." she smiled back at him and tried to remember his name but end up being more confused. Yusuf slightly ruffles her hair and utters, "Don't put too much pressure on your rusted brain because you might know me as Yasir Sheikh." Ishita gasped, "Yasir... are you kidding me?" He chuckled and shrugged it off "No... I'm not..." he gave her a big hug.
Ishita smiled awkwardly as she wasn't a hugging person, "I can't believe that the college bullied child is the prince of a royal family. It's the kind of fictional story Disney presents but as much as I remember you were an ass towards me." He chuckles, "Well... it has nothing to do with me because my father wanted me to learn the value of money and understand people. So that I don't grow up as a rich brat..." Ishita rolled her eyes, "Rich people imposter..." Ritika cleared her throat dragging Ishita's attention and reminding her that she shouldn't be mean to him.
Yusuf mentioned, "Just to remind you, I haven't forgotten the embarrassment you caused me in college. If you're here to repeat your past mistakes then remember who I am and what I can do to you and your reputation." Ishita narrowed her eyes at him and now she was aware that her plan screwed up. She walked back to her seat and Yusuf indulged himself in talking with the man. Ritika nudged her, "What was that you both were like one minute good with each other, and in the other, he was giving you death threats?" Ishita rolled her eyes, "Nothing serious... he's just overreacting over small things." Ritika glared at her, "Tell me what you did to him...".
Ishita huffed in annoyance, "Yusuf with the name Yasir used to study in the same college as me. We were batch mates and good friends until the lecturer appointed us to do a project together. He was too much into the research project that I used to feel left out following him like a lost puppy. At the time of getting credits, he only use to mention his name and I used to be his helper." Ritika raised her brows, "Then..." Ishita glimpsed at her, "Then what... he got on my nerve one day arguing about the kind of efforts I put into work. I got irritated by his comments and burnt down his research papers... to ashes a day before the submission."
Ritika gasped, "Ishita that's mean and a narcist trait..." Ishita's face screwed up glimpsing at her, "What would you have expected me to do? Let him get all the credits and end up getting lesser marks. Ritika... I have survived it he used to act like a bitch. He was a complete brat in the whole batch, his father might have wanted him to understand people but arrogance rushes in his blood streams." Ritika sighed in response, "Now... what?" Ishita smirked, "Forget about the deal. I'll think about something and present Mehra Groups as a global market. It's possible after Goel Industries is facing a financial crisis."
Ritika rolled her eyes, "I haven't seen any wife using her husband's downfall as an opportunity to become a global competitor." Ishita cackled, "Then meet me... Ishita Mehra... technically still Goel. When will he send those papers hasn't the court sent him a reminder?" Ritika glimpsed at her, "He will get one within three days..." Ishita nodded and sits back comfortably looking at the horses getting ready for the race on the racecourse. Yusuf came back and sit next to Ishita, "Did you get your horses in the race as well? So sorry for you but you'll lose..."
Ishita chuckled, "Love that confidence Yasir... but you know I can turn the tables at the last minute." Yusuf examined her with his side eyes mentally cursing her arrogance, "Yeah by cheating..." Ishita glimpsed at him, "It's not cheating... it's the art form of winning...". Yusuf chuckled, "Wanna bet on the horses?" she nodded and picked up the tablet lying in front of her eyes, "Sure... I'll bet my money on number sixteen..." his bodyguard passed his tablet, "That horse is a newbie brought in the race... good luck with that. I'll bet my money on number twenty-eight." They looked at each other and smirked.
"What's the betting amount?" Ishita asked Yusuf mumbled in a low voice, "A night with you in my mansion." Ritika gasped in shock. Ishita chuckled and replied, "I'm totally into it but if you lost the bet... you'll sign a deal with Mehra Groups with a nine percent stake..." Yusuf chuckled, "You really want your company's future to bright with a bet and on top of that you want me to risk my money on a nine percent stake." Ishita titled her head, "It's worth the desperation you have to get me in your bed." Yusuf looked up and down at her, "I'm totally into this bet besides the money I'm putting in the race..." Ritika stared at the two reckless maniacs.
Ishita pulled out a paper and pen from her bag, "I want it in writing..." Yusuf glimpsed at her and took the paper in his hand, "Just for you to know... I like to go rough..." Ishita smirked, "Totally of my liking..." he wrote the bet signing below the papers and passed it to her. Ritika took the paper from Ishita's hand and mumbled, "Ishita... Are you sure? Think about Armaan at least once... he would be hurt if..." Ishita whispered, "Shut up... Just wait and watch him fall flat on the ground if he wins just tear that paper or better chew it up." Ritika scrunched her nose, "Is that your backup plan? And why does it always involve me?" Ishita shrugged her shoulders and concentrated on the race course.
With the sound of a gunshot, the race started crowd went crazy cheering for the horses. Yusuf used the binoculars to see the horse he bet money on. Unfortunately, the horse he bet money on was running slower than the others whereas the horse Ishita bet money on was a newbie and was running with a great speed. Yusuf huffed in annoyance, "How's that possible? This horse won the last two races." Ishita cooed him, "Aww... you should start learning from your mistakes and stop messing with me."
Yusuf huffed in irritation periodically checking whether the horse he bet money on was behind the horse Ishita bet money on. She pouted, "Okay that's boring... why don't we take the stakes a bit higher." Yusuf glimpsed at her, "What?" she cleared his confusion, "You wanted a night with me how about a week in Las Vegas? I heard they have the best strip clubs and darkrooms. On my side, if you lost the race, you'll invest a hundred million for one percent." Yusuf thought for a while and uttered, "That's a lot amount of money but I won't mind a trip to Vegas."
He growled in exasperation taking a glance at the horse losing the race, "I'm going to withdraw my money from that old horse...." Yusuf withdrew the money before the closing announcement. He mentioned, "I'll bet the money on the number sixty..." Ishita took the tablet in her hand and withdrew the money as well, "And I'll bet the money on number twenty-one..." Yusuf raised his brows and uttered incoherently, "That's my horse..." she shrugged and an announcement was made for the bet closing.
They stood up from their seats as the last three minutes were left for the race. Horse number sixty was running in the first place and horse number twenty-one Ishita betted money on was in third place. The race was getting slower by the time it was getting towards the end. Yusuf's eyes were fixed on the horse Ishita betted money on because it was his horse and he didn't bet money on it. The horse number twenty-one Ishita betted money on ran passing the other two people which were now comparatively riding slower than before. Soon it was running in the first place, Yusuf stared in shock, "What the hell?" Ishita clapped for the horse running at the full speed.
Ishita played a trick on him distracting him from his current decision. The horse she bet money on first was a newbie and had more energy than the other old horses. But Yusuf didn't stay consistent with his decision and withdraw the money. Towards the end, the new horse was tried and wasn't well prepared for long races. Whereas the other old horses were getting tired as well but the fact Yusuf's racing horses are of an expensive breed they can run long distances but with a comparatively slower speed than other breed horses.
In the end, number twenty-one won the race and Ishita won the bet as well. Yusuf stared at her angrily, "How did you do that?" Ishita giggled amusingly. A group of people approached to congratulate him that his horse won the race but he didn't bet money on his horse the group included DK, Veronica, and Armaan. Yusuf was in a very bad mood because of the fact he lost the bet with Ishita, the girl he hated to see getting better acknowledgment than him. He hated her for being the best at whatever work she did, he gritted out "I hate you..." Ishita pouted, "Don't be like that... you were the one who wanted to bet. I never asked you to bet a hundred million over a race."
Armaan stepped forward glimpsing at both bloodthirsty people giving glares at each other. He dragged their attention, "Ishita... what are you doing here? And what bet are you two discussing?". Ishita stared at him in shock, Yusuf noticed the connection between them and asked, "What relation do you have with Ishita?". Armaan mentioned, "She's my wife..." Ishita spoke in between, "Ex-wife..." Armaan got irritated at it, "Not yet... I haven't sent back those shitty papers." Ishita crossed her arms and mentioned, "But I already signed it... which means I'm not related to you and you have the free will to roam around with anyone you want." They started quarreling in front of thousands of people speaking about their marital issues. Armaan got to know about the ridiculous bet and was furious because Ishita was putting herself at risk.
Yusuf looked between the fighting couple and yelled, "Shut up... shut up you both of you and fuck off. I don't wanna see your faces ever again and Ishita you'll get whatever mentioned in the bet". He turned and left furiously passing people removed by his bodyguards. DK tried to approach him but he was pushed aside by the bodyguards. Armaan and Ishita stared at each other blankly calming the fire burning inside them. Veronica spoke in between, "It didn't shock me a bit that a whore like you would step so low for a deal... tsk... tsk...". Armaan looked back at Veronica and mumbled, "If you ever called her that again I'll put a red-hot iron rod in your mouth. It would cause you a lot of trouble giving blow jobs to charm people." she scrunched her nose glaring at Armaan and mumbled awkwardly, "You're embarrassing me Armaan... your wife... in front of thousands of people."
