Chapter 43
Ishita's POV:
Sitting on the bed with curtains closed and dim light I stared at the picture frames of Armaan hanging on the wall. It's been two weeks since he left but it feels like a year. My professional life is as fucked up as my personal. Refilling the glass of wine, I took another sip listing to sad songs. But I couldn't live my life peacefully Aditya walked inside unannounced, "Did Armaan Bhai mention where he would be staying" I looked up and down at him, "The door is made to be knocked before entering the room and no I don't know if I would have then I might not be drinking in the daylight." He signed and sits on the edge of the bed. I kicked his ass "Get out I want to be alone..." he's annoying.
Before I could get rid of him someone else also entered the room, "What are you doing? Aren't you supposed to attend the success party of the Gold Dust?". I ignored Ritika's presence and gulped the whole drink. She glimpsed at Aditya he shrugged in response, "I don't know what it was but I want to feel my emotions privately since it's my first time feeling anything." Ritika rolled her eyes and pulled the curtains, "You're taking a break from the reality and it's not a movie setup which will change with time it's life and you need to work hard to change the current situation you're stuck in."
Squinting my eyes I adjusted with the daylight, "Close the curtains, and yeah nice Pinterest motivation by the way." I forwarded my empty glass to Aditya, "Can you refill it?" he nodded and took the glass, "Make a dirty cocktail..." he raised his brows with a smirk then nodded. "What's going on in the office in my absence?" I asked her. She looked down, "Not very good as there are constant strike men and women are divided into two parts. Women want you to be their boss which is surprising whereas males are strictly against you and urge Raj Kund, your father to remove you from the company. Three major investors sold their shares and a few big shots of the industries are buying the current shares obviously not with good intentions. Magazine publication house has a success party where you were supposed to go there but you're here sipping wine watching the discovery channel."
I gave her a look, "Those parties are for the working class and please I don't wanna dress in itchy clothes, not today." I narrowed my eyes at Aditya, "I told you to make it dirty not disgusting..." He passed me the drink, "It might look awful but take a sip you'll get an orgasm." Raising my brows I took the glass, "Not a good choice of words but I hope the drink would cover it up." Taking a sip my stomach did flip taking deep breaths closing my eyes I felt a rush of ecstasy calm my nerve. With a smug face, I patted his back, "Worst kind of orgasm I have ever got but a good drink. When I own some club chains, you will surely be the bartender in one of them." Ritika looked between us, "Do you guys have any idea how crazy you both sound?".
I emptied the whole drink, "Then what do you want me to do I can't go outside and be like... hurray my husband vanished and I'm so happy without him. Ugh... Aditya, I need one more drink." Ritika sighed, "Armaan really had an effect on you... if that's the case. Why aren't you focusing on finding him? Then get back on board and show the world..." I showed her my palm, "Enough of motivation for today now go back to the office and try to put some sense in those employees." She huffed and left stomping her feet.
Aditya passed me the glass and asked making a drink for himself, "Don't mind but isn't it unfair how much workload you push on Ritika? She handles most of the firms multitasking and then handling your cases in court but on top of it, she handles your tantrum. That girl always looks exhausted." He sits on the edge of the bed. I shrugged, "She gets paid thrice the assistants get in other companies, double the amount any lawyer of Mehra groups gets besides she doesn't have a degree from any reputed university. Isn't it worth it buying her life for my work?" he shook his head, "I might sound rude but you're no one to buy someone's life unless you are the one who gave it. You know why Ritika didn't quit like the other assistants and is loyal to you. Because she cares for you like a friend, she sees you like an elder sister who has achieved great things in life, as I think about Armaan Bhai."
Aditya does have a brain and I totally agree with him on the facts he mentioned but I won't say to him that he's a genius. "Okay, I'll consider you're urged to give Ritika and her boyfriend a couple of holiday tickets to the Maldives." His expression turned mysterious, "She has a boyfriend..." I nodded, "Yeah... she's in a liven relationship with him..." I took a sip from the drink. He shrugged, "Oh... that's good... I mean great... enjoy your drink I'll take my leave." I hummed in response emptying my glass with an evil smirk.
Clearly, Ritika didn't tell him about her boyfriend and this guy was catching feelings for her because else he would have said the thing about all my employees, not just Ritika. Resting my head back I stared at the ceiling peacefully but as I said no one can see me living in peace. "Ishita... I was calling you why weren't you picking up the call?" Mom bargained inside. I lifted my head, "So I don't have to talk to you, or else why wouldn't I pick up your call." She gave me a look of disbelief, "Well... I need your help..." I sighed, "And I need some alone time tell me how many people are standing outside the door coming one by one. Just go and find someone else for help better ask Raj Kund but please leave me alone..."
"Don't be so rough I had come so far to meet you and why are you sitting here drinking in the mid-afternoon? Armaan has spoiled you so much where's he I'll complain to him about you." That means she doesn't know, "If you find him let him know..." she knits her brows in confusion and I explained to her in short whatever happened here. "What... why didn't you tell me and where's Nayantara Ji? The whole house was silent when I entered, so I thought it might be because they were all busy at work. Raj told me you're not attending work and spending most of the time at home so I thought it's because you're having a good time with Armaan. But here he left the house..." I showed her my palm, "Calm down lady... I don't need your help and what do you want from me be quick."
She mumbled, "Unbelievable... your husband just left the house and you're celebrating it with drinks." She was crawling on my nerve and I commented, "He's Armaan, not Raj Kund... so I don't need to worry." She was a bit taken back by the mention but digested it in a few seconds. "Well, I needed your DNA sample..." my forehead ceased, "Am I adopted or the daughter of a mafia boss..." she rolled her eyes, "Are you reading Wattpad stories? I want your sample to get it matched with Vikram because Raj told me he never touched Kashika then how he had Vikram" ugh her obsession.
"Mom... he's Raj Kund lying is like an art form for him and it's his favorite hobby which he does more often." She took a deep breath rethinking her actions. Maybe they had intercourse like peacocks... you know they mutate through spit. It's gross to imagine a guy spitting on you and you get pregnant. Mom snapped her fingers, "Where did you get lost? I was saying that for my satisfaction give me a sample and get it matched. If Vikram is his son, he'll see my worst side." I left a long sigh, "If I give you a sample will you leave..." she nodded and passed me the strip.
Maa walked inside and placed a plate of food on the side table, "You haven't done your breakfast and it's already afternoon.". She had a small talk with my mother while I gave her a sample and ask Maa, "Did you eat?" she glimpsed at me with puffy eyes. "I don't feel like..." I passed her the plate, "Neither do I..." she growled in anger, "Are you crazy? Just do what I say..." I crossed my arms, "I won't... what will you do? Hang me upside down. If you don't care about yourself then don't expect from me to do so..." Mom looked between us and scolded me, "Is this the way to talk to your mother-in-law? Apologies her..." I narrowed my eyes at her, "You got the sample right... fly away..." she shook her head and mumbled an apology to Maa. She gestured for her to leave as well... thankfully Mom stood up and left.
Maa left a long sigh, "I did wrong and deserve to be punished. You haven't done anything why would you starve yourself?". I raised my brows, "Will it bring Armaan back? Then please continue starving yourself. Will it? Huh?" she looked exhausted, "I don't know what to do after what I did..." I rubbed her shoulder comforting her, "I don't blame you Maa because I know people can be obsessive one example just walked out of the room. But I can't defend you by saying that pushing Armaan away was the solution of the problem." She agreed, "I know... Veronica just gets on my nerve and Armaan used to be so protective of her that he completely ignored us. It was my anger that faded my consciousness and I pushed him away from me. Which horrible mother ask to get his son out of the will?" she looked down at her hands sadly.
I shrugged, "Of course the answer is you..." she rolled her eyes, "Unbelievable... eat the food and I'll ask Abhimanyu to find Armaan. What on earth my son would be doing right now?" I took the plate from her she patted my cheeks, "If you see find anything about Armaan let us know..." I shrugged my shoulder, "I'm not finding him that bastard locked me inside the room and ran away like a coward. I called him countless times but he never answered if he would have cared for me in the slightest, he might have at least tried to be in touch with me at least to know my well-being but no he just vanished... I miss him so much and tried to contact him but he doesn't. He told me he loves me but then why did he leave me? Maa am I that unlovable..." Maa cupped my cheeks and shook her head "No... of course not... you're rather adorable and sincere."
I looked at her with my puffy eyes, "Then why does everyone abandons me.... everyone I love eventually leaves me alone vulnerably." She smiled sadly, "Not everyone some people come into our lives and stay forever maybe that's why they are call soulmates." I faked a gag, "That's for fairy tales not for reality... anyways I would like to enjoy my drinks alone so can you please just..." I gestured for her to leave she smiled nodding and left. "Alexa... play sad songs..." I pulled out another box of tissue for my next crying session.
