Chapter 21

Armaan's POV:

"What do you mean by forty-eight hours? Are you kidding me?" I was left shocked as Aadesh bhai revealed that I had to live here for like two days. "You will get all the facilities but you can't leave that place. I will make sure to provide you with every necessity just survive there and take it as your vacation." Aadesh Bhai responded trying to make it sound simple but it is hell. "Seriously Vacation... inside four grey walls, suffocating with no ventilation I'm breathing my own air for four hours expecting to leave this place as soon as possible because these people disgust me and you're telling me to live forty-four more hours here..." he sighed and replied, "Armaan don't be so dramatic... I can't do anything because she has the information about the scam, we did in Galaxy Apartment Property. After that rape accusation, I don't want any other obstacle till the election."

Huffing in annoyance I looked up at the man standing behind me to get his phone back as I finish the call. For some reason it made me more annoyed, throwing the phone on the wall shattered into pieces and I felt better. Taking a deep calming breath I glimpsed back at the scared pig, "What... get the cheque for the phone and get me everything here." He nodded instantly and left. "Sweetheart, don't worry I will bring lunch for you in the prison-like an ideal wife should." She certainly sent her soon-to-be husband to jail under false allegations. What the hell are you, Ishita? Can't you just live like other girls do, obeying you're your father and husband?

I'm mad at her and why shouldn't I but somewhere I know framing me isn't an easy task or someone or the other would have done it so often. She was such a genius that she made Ritika resign but didn't let her give away her office card. I thought her PA left and Ishita herself was in Delhi so what she can do now here, I'm sitting in the staff room of a police station. We are rich that's the only reason we got this extravagant treatment or else we would have been in those stinking jails.

I can't deny the fact any more the truth is she has ruined my strategic planning with her one move. Now this will go as she wants it to, I hate being dominated but here I'm hanging at her mercy that she let the bail pass before forty-eight hours so that I can be in a much more comfortable place than here. The thing bothering me is why her father so desperately wants her to fall flat when she's a freaking genius but on the other hand, I don't want to be involved in any of her family matters.

Two hours left in leaving this place but no sign of Aadesh Bhai or any of his call. Stretching on the bed I got up and went inside the bathroom to do the morning routine, changed into checkered pants with half sleeve black t-shirt. Sitting on the bed I switched through some shows on Netflix and some more movies spending the rest of the two hours. I don't think she's going to keep her promise she just fooled Aadesh bhai like the way she fooled me.

Someone knocked on the door, "Come in..." a policeman came inside and salute me raising my brows I glared at him. "Sir Ji aapki bail hogi hai... ajaiye..." (sir your bail is granted... come...). I hummed in response and he left, I'm going to give a nice trailer to Aadesh Bhai then make that Ishita pay. Opening the door of the staff room I walked out with my denim jacket in hand, racing my fingers throw my hair I went inside the commissioner's office.

My steps slowed as Aadesh bhai wasn't there instead a sexy goddess in a black body fitted dress with a black blazer hung on her shoulders was standing crossing her legs with the support of the table. Ishita signed on the documents lying on the commissioner's table and nods at him turning towards me, "Let's go, hubby..." she pats my arm, thankfully she didn't call me sweetheart in front of the officers I hate that name it makes me feel like a fragile barbie doll and who calls a man sweetheart... obviously the answer is the great Ishita Mehra. She walked out first and I had to follow her, "Why are you here? I mean Aadesh bhai would have got me out." She doesn't care to look back and replied, "Media is standing outside the police station so better don't open your mouth in front of them."
Ishita's Outfit:

I sighed, "Like I can open my mouth anywhere around you..." she signed on some paper the officer forwarded on her way and soon we walked out of the exit. Cameras flashed on us bodyguards made their way out as the reporters were hopping on us. A hand snakes around my arm looking up at Ishita I found some cameras focusing on her and some reporters shoving mics on her face. Shooing the reporter away I pushed his camera back and we walked past them rushing towards our car.

We drove off the place, Ishita was in the driving seat I was sitting next to her and some bodyguards' cars were following us. She said out of blue, "You can file a case against me but I will prove it baseless in court. You don't have a choice so better accept it and move on. Board directors have kicked you out and other directors of the firm aren't happy with you either so you can give up dreaming to be the CEO. But yeah, surely you have majority stakes, and trust me I don't care because till I'm in the position of authority in the firms I don't have a problem with you." I examined her beautiful face from the side-eye, I know this already. She indeed was a beautiful angel but inside her life a devil who can go to any extent to get what she wants. And yeah, she clearly got me where she wanted... Ugh, I should hate her but I can't. Why am I so screwed up when all this was settled by me?

"I don't care as well but you ruined my reputation and image in the industry..." I uttered sitting back comfortably she gave me an amusing look. "Seriously, your image... everyone knows about the ways you got other executives wrapped around your fingers, and till the time you're rich and powerful no one gives a shit. And for your kind information, the FDA officer took back the case revealing that the medicine prescription was not a well draft which created confusion" That was a brilliant move, and I glanced at her in disbelief then turned my face away looking outside.

Ishita drove inside my mansion and stopped the car at the entrance, I hopped out of the car she announced from behind, "Tell your mother I will take her shopping tomorrow evening if she is unavailable at that time, she can let me know when she is free" I simply nodded. Maybe she's going to reject the marriage offer as now she has all the control including her family business. Her car took a smooth turn and left the mansion I was exhausted after all this and decided to rest the complete day in my bed.

"Armaan... How are you feeling now? Do you need something?" Mom asked in a concerned voice as I was sitting on the bed lost in my own world thinking what if she going to reject me how will I handle mom? because she adores her. It will break her heart and I don't want her to feel rejected because of me. If I hadn't tried to take over Mehra Groups, Ishita would have been happier and we could've become something, but my mother will pay the price for my blindness to success. "Armaan... what happened?" she cupped my jaw sitting on the side of the bed.

I looked up at her innocent face and told her, "Ishita asked to take you shopping tomorrow evening..." she listens carefully then cackled, "So you're scared that she will put me into jail... don't worry she's my favorite daughter-in-law and she wouldn't try anything that could hurt me." her words just added to my concern. I need to do something to convince Ishita, maybe by returning her my majority shares but then what will I marry her for?

"Mom... if she denies this marriage alliance please don't get all upset because nothing is in my hand anymore to control her. I would be marrying her for nothing but I can't assure you that she will consider this marriage as now she's the one who will decide whether this marriage will happen or this alliance will break here" Mom listened to me attentively then asked, "Armaan can I ask you something?" I nodded in response.

"Is it necessary to marry her or anyone out of some profit doesn't it have anything to do with your feelings and emotions because at the end of the day she will be your wife beta?" I raised my brows at her she went on, "Armaan I know you see relations as a profit and loss case but tell me if one day I won't be a profitable deal for you then you will throw me out." I was stunned and shook my head, "Ridiculous Mom... I would never do such a horrible thing and I love you Mom why would you even think about it like that..." she sighed, "Because of the way you're treating Ishita...".

I stayed silent on this because even I don't know what to do. After all, if I trust her that will be a reckless thing to do, and if I don't then it will leave one of us broken. I don't want to hurt her but I did by not understanding her, now it's too late to even apologize because if I apologized she will think it is because I lost, and now what to be in her good graces. This regret will stay in my heart as she was someone special and divine but I with my bare hands ruined whatever we could have been in the future. I looked down at my hands and sighed, "I'm sorry Mom... but that's the way I'm with others it has nothing to do with my family and the people I love...." she pats my hand, "And Ishita could be a part of this family... because I know you have a place in your heart only for her..." she's my mother she knows me more than anyone.

I nodded and she cupped my face, "Armaan don't punish your future because of your past. If Ishita agrees then you will give this marriage a chance and if she doesn't you will not force her into anything and will return her company stakes. After hearing from Aadesh I'm very much disappointed because I never raised you both like this I know you care for the position we have in this country but that doesn't mean you will try to get your wife's fortune and control her" listened to her carefully.

Then explained, "Mom doesn't wives get their husbands assets after the marriage, she gets the equal control over his empire and after his death, she can take over no one will oppose her. Some wives get a huge sum of alimony just to separate from the man they got married to for the purpose to be rich. Isn't this the same as what I tried to do but then why does everyone have a problem with me? I just wanted to dilute her dominance and add her asset to the Goel Family legacy she would have got more from this marriage as it would have been a vast empire with the collab of Mehra Group and Goel Industries." Mom tried to understand my words as she was left speechless.

Expressing my thoughts I explained everything in a very simple understanding manner, "Tell me Mom isn't it wrong done to the man also? Why a man has to divide his hard work with his partner who gave up on the marriage? And if a man is unsuccessful then the partner doesn't remain loyal to them and starts finding his replacement but for a man to be successful he needs to do hard work and give his work the priorities then the partner will have a problem with that and ask for a huge divorce settlement amount..." she sighed and stared down at the floor for a while.

She stayed silent for a while as I expected her to be then explained, "Armaan... I understand what you're trying to convey and agree that they all have just assumed that men suppressed women and somewhere law is blind to gender. Traditionally, men are expected to be the primary breadwinners in our culture, and there are more options for women to work part-time or raise their children. But somewhere in the society ultimately males have privileges females don't... they have to sacrifice a lot for it but this law doesn't work on the males even after their hundredth divorce. And I agree with you some females nowadays marry rich men to get a large sum of alimony and that's how time has changed which the judiciary system doesn't want to accept."

"But that doesn't mean you will control someone's life to make it even, if you don't want her to drool over your money then don't have your eyes on her asset," she concluded and I agree with her on this because I was not thinking straight in this but now the damage has been done and it is all on the merciful hands of Ishita. Neither God nor any other supreme power can make her change her decision she has that stiff backbone.
