14- The Whomping Willow
"You lot have got to tell Remus about all of this," Marlene told Peter, James and Sirius.
The three boys groaned. Thought their third year, Marlene had been badgering them to tell Remus about their plans to become anamagi. They were coming closer to being able to attempt the process and Marlene was sick of having to hide what they were doing from Remus.
"If you don't tell him then I will," Marlene threatened.
"You're bluffing," James remarked.
Marlene narrowed her eyes at James, "am I, am I really bluffing Potter?" She got to her feet.
"You've done it now James!" Sirius complained, as they watched Marlene make her way over to where Remus was sitting, pouring over some homework. She got his attention and appeared to be telling him a story as the thee boys groaned and Sirius hit his head on the arm of his chair.
Remus got to his feet and strode over to where they were sitting, followed closely by a smirking Marlene.
"What on earth are you three thinking!" Remus demanded, "do you realise how much danger you would be putting yourselves in." And Remus was off, telling the three everything that they had dreaded hearing since they decided to become anamagi.
Marlene wondered off towards where Lily was sat, not wanting to listen to what Remus was telling the three.
"Not so fast!" Remus grabbed her by the collar of her robes, "you've been helping them! And you didn't tell me! Honestly Marlene, I thought that you understood how dangerous something like that would be!"
"We just wanted to help you," Marlene was at a loss of what to say, "what else are we supposed to do."

Eventually the four of them managed to persuade Remus that James, Sirius and Peter becoming anamagi was a good idea. He still had his doubts, and refused to help them accomplish it.
As the summer approached, students spent more time in the grounds, playing their favourite game.
The whomping willow was a cause of much interest and hilarity among the students. In the summer months many students dared each other to try and touch the tree's trunk.
Lily and Marlene were sat beside the lake on one particularly hot June day, watching some fourth years play this game.
They were darting backwards and forth, avoiding the branches trying to touch the trunk.
"Honestly!" Lily tutted under her breath, watching the boys from afar, "someone is going to get really hurt playing that silly game!"
"I don't know," Marlene grinned, "personally I find it quite- Merlin!"
The two girls watched as one of the boys was smacked firmly in the face by a larger branch, and flung like a ragdoll, across the lawn, landing in a crumpled mess and clutching his face.
The two girls hurried towards the incident, there was already a large group gathering around the boy, who Marlene recognised as a Gryffindor forth year Dayey Gudgeon, who was on the Quidditch team with her.
"Someone get a teacher!" A person cried as everyone saw blood flowing down the boys face.
"Someone get Madam Pomfry!"

From the on, students weren't allowed near the whomping willow. Davey Gudgeon was lucky that he didn't loose his eye, and this was only the most recent of several injuries inflicted by the tree.
Every time that Marlene saw Remus for the next week or so, he held a guilty expression on his face, as if he himself had inflicted the injuries.
I have no exams until Tuesday! And I've now finished two of my subjects forever (well, I'm actually taking one one them next year, but that's not the point).
