Wolf In Sheep's Clothing - Set It Off
That night, you took a taxi into to town, just to be safe alcohol-wise. Sure, Mark wasn't going to drink, but he wasn't safe to drive, whether under the influence or not. Walking into the bar holding Mark's hand, you immediately smiled at the fun atmosphere. You led the boys over to the bar, saying hello to Rhi.
"Hey Y/N and Mark!" She exclaimed, leaning over to talk to you. "Its been forever since I've seen y'all in here! And who's this?"
"This is our friend Sean, he's visiting from Ireland." You introduced her to your green-haired friend. "Sean, this is Rhi."
They exchanged pleasantries then you ordered a vodka and Sprite for yourself and just a Coke for Mark. Jack punnily got himself a Jack and Coke. You turned around in your seat to watch the rest of the patrons. Some danced on the small dance floor by the stage, and the others sat in their booths. You quickly diverted your eyes when you made uncomfortable eye contact with a man you could tell had bad intentions.
"I'm going to the bathroom." Mark excused himself, kissing your temple.
Nearly as soon as he was out of your sights, the man you had made eye contact with walked over to you, taking Mark's seat beside you. "Name's Max, and I see there's an empty seat here, darlin'."
"There's also one on the other end of the bar." You turned away from him to talk to Jack.
"Aw don't be like that." He grabbed your shoulder, spinning you back around. Disgusted, you pushed his hand off of you without giving him another word. This time his hand went to your crotch and you stood up so fast you would've been dizzy if you weren't seething with rage.
"Leave her alone!" Jack said in your defense, standing next to you, glaring at the guy.
The creepy man stood, towering over you and Jack at probably close to 6'6". "Oh, are you her boyfriend, shorty?"
"No." A stone cold voice said from behind him. Mark was standing there, fists clenched and eyes narrowed into slits. "I am."
"Oh my god." He laughed. "I think you're shorter than shorty!"
You could see that Mark was about to do something at least you would regret later, and you grabbed his arm to pull him towards the door. "Come on babe, let's go. Rhi, can you put the drinks on my tab, I'll pick it up tomorrow."
She nodded in acknowledgement, and you grabbed Jack as well before actually walking out the door. Unfortunately, you still had to wave down a cab, allowing Max plenty of time to follow you three out, obviously still pissed.
Your grip on Mark's arm tightened, you didn't want this to escalate. You wanted to get in a cab and go home. Max clearly had other ideas, swinging right at Mark's face.
"Shit!" You yelled, the fist narrowly missed you as well. "What are you doing?"
Neither responded as Mark punched back at the guy, actually hitting him square in the face. Max fell to the ground, clutching his jaw. Apparently he didn't expect Mark to hit back. "Aw fuck," he dabbed at his split lip, seeing blood. The man on the sidewalk held his other hand out to Mark for a handshake of sorts. "I'm sorry bro, I'm out."
Your sigh of relief was cut short when your boyfriend bent Max's hand back to the point where you heard distinct cracks. Then his feet were hitting him in the sides, face, head, back, anywhere Mark could get to.
"Mark, stop!" Jack tried to intervene, but to your horror, was pushed back into a stone wall by his friend.
You had been petrified before, but now you leapt in front of Mark, in between him and Max and Jack. He didn't hit you, but seemed annoyed at your interference. "Y/N, move." He clenched his teeth. "I don't want to hurt you too."
"You've made your point, you can stop now." You were calm as you spoke, gently placing a hand on his tensed arm.
"No I can't." His voice wavered, and you detect fear and regret underneath the murderous overtones. "He won't let me."
"Who won't let you?"
Mark blinked, and his kind brown eyes filled with a deep black. "Me, Dark. In the eleven months Mark was gone, he was trying to keep me away from you. Called me obsessive, dangerous, but it's only because I love you, Y/N. I'm doing this for you, Y/N."
Your words seemed caught in your throat, and you forced them out, still speaking calmly. "Dark, that's not love. Love is a warm, kind feeling inside you that rips you apart in the best way possible. Love is sacrificing yourself for the other person, not sacrificing someone else. Please, don't do this. Look, you hurt Mark's friend, Jack."
Jack weakly waved from the ground, and you were sure he was in as much disbelief as you.
Dark's face started twitching in between his crazed look and the soft, familiar gaze of your Mark as his eyes flickered between the black glaze and Mark's warm chocolate irises. You moved your hand from his arm to the sides of his neck. "W-What are you doing?" Dark's last word was muffled as you pressed your lips against his.
He was in a quiet shock and you pulled your lips off his to give him a tight, powerful hug before kissing him again.
When you had finished the kiss, his eyes were still closed in wonder and you looked up at him with hope. "Mark?" You whispered, reaching a hand out towards his.
His eyes opened wide, and you saw the beautiful chestnut eyes of your loving boyfriend. "Y/N." He grabbed your hand in disbelief. "He-he's gone."
"Are you sure?" You checked, still optimistic.
"Yeah, he's always been back there, but I can't feel him now. I guess he took your advice."
"My... advice? Oh." You bit your lip, remembering what you told Dark before you kissed him. He had sacrificed himself, instead of someone else.
Mark walked over to Sean and helped him up, then offered a hand out to Max. The man warily took it, still obviously wounded. "Dude, I'm not sure what just happened, but stay the hell away from me." He ran off down the street, and you couldn't help but laugh.
"What's so funny?" Mark gave a small smile.
"Nothing." You wrapped your arms around his waist. "Let's just get a cab home."
((yo i totally stole the kiss w dark @ the end from phantom of the opera 25th anniversary btw))
