Tear In My Heart (Part 3)
You had taken a seat at a small cafe on the street corner. You sighed as you looked out the window. Your face was sticky from the dried tears. You looked out the window longing to see Mark running towards you. Maybe you had been a little hard on him. Maybe you could've handled it differently. It didn't matter, you were here now. You watched cars drive by, aching to see Mark's car. Your heart was broken, and all you wanted was for Mark to put it back together. Unbeknown to you, a guy had slipped in the chair in front of you. You were startled when he spoke.
"Hey sweet thing, why do you look so down? A pretty face like you should never look blue."
You turned to face the guy. He was pretty attractive, but your heart was committed to Mark.
"Sorry, I'm taken," you said.
"Well I don't mind sharing," he said as he leaned closer to you.
"I said I'm taken. I have a fiancé, back off."
"I don't see a ring," the guy persisted.
"Just back the f*ck off, I don't want you!" You raised your voice at the guy.
"Jesus, sorry. I was just being nice," the guy said as he walked away.
You let out a long sigh as your phone went off. It was Mark. You denied it. Everything in you told you to answer it, but you couldn't. You craved him, but you couldn't take him back yet. You looked out the window for a little while longer before you decided to take a walk. You rolled your suitcase behind you as you strolled down the sidewalk. You didn't care how goofy you looked carrying a suitcase. You had nowhere to go, so you continued to walk.
---------
The smell of oil and gasoline filled the air around me. I felt a pain in my leg. I slowly opened my eyes to see a broken windshield. My mind was foggy as I tried to remember what happened. I remembered (Y/N) and how I hurt her. I was such a fool.
Blood trickled down my face from the top of my head. I looked around to see I was still strapped in by my seatbelt. It was then that I realized that I was upside down. My seatbelt as the only thing holding me up. What do I do? My head throbbed so much as my vision blurred. I heard muffled voices outside, but I couldn't recognize them as I slowly slipped out of consciousness.
-----------
You kicked a rock as you walked down the street. You wanted him so bad. You just wanted to see his chocolate eyes again. Feel his muscular arms again. Breathe in his cologne once more. Kiss his sweet, pink lips. All you could think about was Mark. You couldn't get him out of your head, so you decided to call him back. It didn't come a surprise to you when it rang all the way to voicemail. You figured he was giving you a taste of your own medicine. You called him three more times until it picked up.
"Mark? I'm so sorry, babe. Please take me back," you sobbed into the phone.
A gruff voice met you on the other end of the phone. "Is this Mrs. Fischbach?"
"Yes, who is this?" Anger tinted your voice.
"This is Deputy Davis, I'm sorry to tell you this, but your fiancé has been in an accident."
Your whole world collapsed. You stopped dead in your tracks.
"What?!" You yelled into the phone.
The officer then began to tell you what happened to Mark. You cried the whole way through. He tried to calm you down, but it didn't help.
"Where is he?"
"They're just about to load him up into the ambulance. I can come get you if y-"
"No, thank you," you said as you hung up the phone.
You sprinted back past the cafe. You knew where Mark was because the officer told you. You sprinted until you reached the crash site.
"Wait!" You screamed as the EMTs were about to load Mark up.
You forced your tired and wobbly legs to run to the ambulance. It was then that your heart took a final blow. Your heart broke as you saw your Mark bloody and unconscious. You gasped and flew a hand up to your mouth. You collapsed to your knees as your emotions took over. Officer Davis put a reassuring hand on your back as he knelt down next to you. While your world fell apart, they loaded Mark up into the ambulance. This was it, as it seemed, the end of your fairy tale love story with Mark.
