Crash (Part 3)

"Mark? Mark, wake up!"

Mark slowly opened his eyes and looked up to see a green haired Irishman. He jumped up and hugged him and then hugged Signe.

"Thank you guys so much for coming. You don't know how much this means to me," Mark said as he plopped back down into his chair and sighed. He ran a shaky hand through his hair as Jack put a reassuring arm on his back.

"It's going to be alright, Mark. She's a fighter."

"What if it's not? What if my baby dies in there? How the hell do I go on?" Tears streamed down Mark's cheeks as he thought about life with you.

"Listen to me. She will make it. I have yet to see a thing that girl can't do. You need to be strong. Be here stronghold, her anchor."

Mark nodded and hugged Jack. Tyler and Ethan soon arrived as well and tried to help comfort Mark. Soon, everyone fell asleep in the waiting room except Mark. He looked out the window his chair was pressed against and sighed. He looked up to the stars and thought about space. He thought about when his father died and how he used to love space for its emptiness. He then remembered how space helped him cope with his father's death. He looked at all the twinkling stars and fell into a sleep.

Mark was soon awoken by hearing his name called. He opened his eyes reluctantly and gave his stiff limbs a much needed stretch. Waiting room chairs were not at all comfortable for sleeping. He looked around the room and soon located the source of his name. His heart skipped a beat when he saw a doctor before him.

"Mr. Fischbach?"

"Yes, that's me."

"I have an update on your wife."

------------------

You laid on the operating table, thoughts of Mark swirling your mind. You loved your family so much. You thought of Star and what her reaction would be to the new baby. The baby...would it make it? You remembered having immense pain in your abdomen when the crash happened. You remembered trying to tell Mark about the pain that you knew only meant bad. You also remembered your first child that was never born. You slipped into sleep.

You looked around and instantly knew where you were. You were at the park you loved. You walked up to the water fountain that sat in the middle of the park. No one else was there but a little girl who sat on the edge of the fountain. As you approached her, she turned and smiled sweetly at you. She had Mark's chocolate eyes. She had your (Y/H/C) hair. She giggled as she picked some wildflowers that danced in the wind. She picked the petals off of one and giggled as the blew around her in the wind.

"S-Star?" You stated as you watched the girl. She cocked her head at you and placed her small hand in yours and led you out of the park and to your house. She took you to a memory. You saw yourself giving a bag to Mark. You watched him pull the contents out slowly and it clicked in your mind when he pulled out the onesie. She was the child you never had. You looked down at her as tears filled your eyes. You crouched so you were eye level with her and pulled her into your chest and hugged her tightly.

"I-Im sorry," you whispered as you cherished this moment.

She pulled away and looked you in the eyes. Her eyes were just like Mark's. They had that playful look he would get sometimes when he looked at you. That quickly faded and they turned serious.

"You have to be strong, Mommy. Be strong for Daddy and Sis. You can do this, I know you can. You are so strong. Just wake up." She began to fade as you were waking up.

"No!" You screamed, " I can't lose you again! Don't leave me!"

"You can't stay here forever, Mommy. You have your family to get back to. I'll be here waiting for you. Go back to them. Go back to Daddy."

You cried as you realized she was right. You watched her fade away and left the dream determined. "I'm going to make it."

------------

"Come this way please," the doctor said as he led Mark to a smaller part of the waiting room where no one was at. He motioned for him to sit down and Mark took a seat. The doctor pulled a chair in front of Mark and sighed. Mark nervously rubbed his hands on his legs as the doctor began.

"Your wife suffered several injuries from the accident," the doctor paused, leaving Mark on the edge of his seat, searching the doctor's eyes to try to read his emotions. The doctor looked down and then continued. "She did really well through her surgery on her broken leg. She also had quite a few bruised ribs, which will heal with time. She suffered a minor abrasion to her head, which she will recover from. She's going to make it Mr. Fischbach. She's one tough woman."

A weight lifted from Mark's shoulders as he looked into the doctor's eyes with hope.

"The baby. How's the baby?"

The doctor looked down at the ground and sighed. "We don't know yet. When she wakes up, we'll give her a few hours or even a day to see how she does. After that, we'll get an ultrasound."

Mark looked down at the ground and swallowed. "What if the baby doesn't make it?" He almost whispered.

The doctor put a hand on Mark's back. "Mr. Fischbach, I know that if the baby doesn't make it, it won't be your first. I saw your record. You can do this. Just be strong for your wife, she'll need it. But, I doubt the baby will pass away. The fact she only had bruised ribs is a good sign. There may be some form of injury, but nothing too fatal. It'll be okay sir." With that the doctor got up and left when a nurse called him away. Mark sat alone in the room, thoughts swirling around him. He rethought what the doctor had said.

"Just be strong for your wife, she'll need it." Mark stood up and headed back to his friends waiting to hear the news.

(Time skip)

You healed quickly from your accident. Even the doctors were surprised. It really helped that Mark was there for you every step of the way. Your baby ended up making it. He was premature because the doctor's had to get him out to save you. He had Mark's gorgeous eyes and your smile. Mark was always there to support you even on the worst days. You could never thank that man enough for everything he has done for you.
