Injuries - 7

God he's so hot. It's unfair. Jeon Jungkook needs to stop before I change my bias.

~~~
Jungkook gazes at her, unsure what to do or say at the moment. Her eyes are on the infirmary bed, her hand in Jimin's cold one. "I'm so sorry," is all he can say. She doesn't even reply, she just somberly nods. They suffered massive consequences from their previous fight. Almost everyone got injured in the mild degree, even Jungkook. Thanks to their special powers, they were able to heal faster, but it's been two days since the last attack, and the major injuries are still being treated.
Jimin and Apollo are out cold, suffering a lot of trauma to the head after being hit so hard. Hoseok is in the room as well, sitting next to Raven. Jungkook and Hoseok are close friends, sure, but not as close as Raven and Hoseok. The two are next to each other, cuddled up in the other's embrace. It honestly makes Jungkook's heart pang for the same thing.
Speaking of physical comfort, a hand gets placed on his shoulder. He turns to see a frowning Y/N standing there. "I have to go report to my supervisor. Do you need anything?" she asks. His sorrowful expression says it all. Within an instant, she's hugging him tightly, him hugging back. Their skin touching makes his heart pump faster, but he tries not to focus on it too much. His best friends are unconscious, now's not the time to be questioning what the hell is going on with his body.
"Thank you for being here at all," he mumbles.
"You deserve that and more. Let me know if there's anything I can do." When they part, Jungkook gives her a curious gaze.
"Why?"
She hesitates for a moment longer than needed. "I don't know why, but I'm already attached to this group. Attached to you. Whatever you need, I'm here. I know we just met, but I want to be there for you. It feels good not to be alone anymore. I'll admit I had my doubts, but thank you for finding me, Jeon. I can't thank you enough."
He places a hand on her cheek and flashes his bunny smile. "Thank you. The same applies to you. Now go to your supervisor and come back quick so Tae Tae doesn't miss you," he says.
She returns the smile and pats him on the shoulder. "Take care of yourself, you hear me?"
He hums. "Only if you do too." They maintain eye contact for another moment before she departs. Jungkook watches with longing in his eyes. Longing for what? He's not entirely sure, but all he knows is that he misses her already.
A few seconds after Y/N leaves, the door opens again, revealing a tired Jayden and Griffin. "Hey, what are you guys still doing up?" Jungkook asks.
"Came to see the boys. How are they? Any updates?" Jayden asks. Griffin places a comforting hand on the boys shoulder, slightly relaxing him. Key word: slightly.
Jungkook knows Jayden has a soft spot for Apollo, and vice versa. Apollo would never, ever admit that out loud, but it's definitely there. It's hard not to be attached to each other when they've been fighting together their whole lives.
"No updates," Raven answers. "Val should be back soon. She went to get more morphine."
"Morphine? Jesus," Griffin mumbles. Jungkook can't help but agree.
The group falls into a short silence. Everyone's unsure of what to say, especially Jungkook. He didn't want to mention it to the others, but he felt something. During that fight, there was a spark inside him. A motivation to do better. His fingertips, they even started glowing.
The memory makes him shudder. No. Not now. Right now, all he wants to do is rest. After two days, he still hasn't gotten much sleep or told even Y/N about the spark inside him. Jimin should be the first to know, but he's not exactly conscious at the moment. Jungkook can't help but feel bad about that. Poor man offered himself as a distraction to save Raven, and this is what happens...
Speak of the devil, Raven glances up. "Can we talk?" she asks Jungkook. "Alone?" Although surprised, he nods right away. She stands and leads him out of the room, ignoring the concerned stares thrown their way. Even when they're out of the infirmary, she guides him all the way down the hall. They end up finally stopping near the staircase, Raven checking to make sure no one's around before turning to Jungkook.
"Bun, I'm so sorry," she says.
Jungkook only furrows his brows. "Why are you sorry?"
"Jimin did what he did to protect me. I'm no idiot, I know that. This is all my fault. He wouldn't be in this position if I wasn't such a coward. I should've stepped up and said something. He doesn't deserve this. We should've done it together."
Jungkook hides his shock to instead part his chapped lips. "You couldn't have known this would happen. When Jimin wakes up, you know he'll be all smiley hearing that we won the fight... that his distraction worked. He wouldn't want to see you sad." Jungkook hesitates, Raven meeting his eyes with her tear-filled ones. "He loves you. You know that, right?" She sadly nods. "And everyone and their deceased grandma's can see you love him. You know him well enough to know he's gonna be okay. He'll be happy with his choice. Please, don't beat yourself up. I guarantee he'll give you the same speech soon enough."
She bites her lower lip for a few moments, weighing her options in her head before nodding. "Thank you, and I'm sorry. I've been such a bitch to everyone. Grumpy, even condescending. Seeing Apollo and Jimin like that, it just..." She lets out a huff. "It made me realize just how much I love this group. How much I love the people surrounding me." She takes a moment to grab his hand, entwining it with hers. "How much I love you." His eyes bulge as she smiles. "Thank you for being such a great leader."
"Oh no, Namjoon is the real leader here," he says.
She chuckles. "And who's his second in command?"
Jungkook sheepishly smiles, his ears turning pink. "Well..."
"Come on, Kook. You and I both know confidence is a word you know very, very well." They share a small smile.
"Thank you, Rave."
"You're always welcome." She pats him on the shoulder with her free hand before starting to trot away. Then, she stops and turns to him. Although confused, he tunes in, giving her a questioning look. "And Jungkook?" He hums. "You can tease Jimin and I all you want about being madly in love, but we all see there's something going on between you and Y/N. Maybe not yet, but there will be."
And with that and a wink, she walks away...
"Class 4 terminated two days ago, nothing on the radar right now. I'd say you're doing excellent, Miss L/N," Taemin says with a smile. You return it, sitting in front of him. However, your mind isn't present. You're not really paying attention to the conversation. You're thinking about Jungkook.
Although you've only known him a short time, you want to get to know him more. Maybe experience some of his world. What he goes through. Who he is. At first you were really, really curious because you know for a fact he's the prophecy child. Now it's because you really, really like him. Not in a more than friends way (sure Y/N, sure), but in a way that feels almost... right. A strong friendship.
"Are you okay?" Taemin asks, leaning forward. The sound of his elbows hitting the table finally snaps you out of it.
"You want to know something really interesting?" you say. Taemin nods, motioning for you to continue. You lean back, letting the cushion of the comfy office chairs try to comfort you. It doesn't work. "For the longest time, I had no fucking idea who I was." He doesn't even flinch at your language. You dryly chuckle. "Edgy, right? I wasn't sure if I wanted to be the kind, caring soul, or the funny one, or the brave one. I wasn't sure what I was personality wise. I didn't know who I wanted to be."
Taemin stays quiet, deciding to quietly listen to your words. You click your tongue, shaking your head. "When I was a kid, my dad used to tell me not to talk to strangers. Classic dad thing, right?" You glance down with a smile. "But I talked to a stranger recently. A guy." Even though you're looking down, you can feel Taemin's smirk. "He offered me his hand, and it's like as soon as we touched, I figured it out." You peek back up and meet his gaze. "Who I was, I mean. After all this time, I finally figured it out."
"And who are you, Y/N L/N?" Taemin asks.
You let out a breath. "I'm the bitch that's gonna end this thing. I'll find that fabled 'rift' where the demons are coming from, and I'll close it myself. Prophecy aside, I'm gonna do it. I'm not funny, or brave, or kind. I'm determined. And for me, that's enough."
Taemin lets out a low whistle. "I must admit, Miss L/N. I didn't think I'd ever hear a monologue like that from you."
"Truthfully I'm trying not to pee myself right now. I told you I'm not very brave, that took a lot out of me." He laughs, you laughing with him. The two of you share a laugh for a few moments before dialing down.
You stare at him, and him back at you. "Y/N?" he asks with a curious, soft gaze. You give him a firm nod. "I'd say you're plenty brave. Braver than any man I've ever served with..." He trails off, giving you a gentle smile. "And you're certainly braver than me."
~~~

Jungkook watches as the girl trudges back inside with her head down. "Y/N? What's wrong?"

"I haven't had alcohol yet, that's what's wrong," she says with a groan. She just got back from her meeting with her supervisor, now she's here, preparing herself to stay next to Jimin, Jungkook, and Apollo's sides all night long. Pulling all-nighters is all they've been doing ever since the class 4.

"No, really. What's wrong?" Jungkook asks, coming closer.

She peeps up and offers him a kind smile. "I just told my supervisor that I met a guy who showed me who I am. Made me realize what I want my life to be."

He furrows his brows. "And?"

"The guy, Jungkook. I was talking about you."

It's safe to say his eyes almost burst out of his skull. "Me? I showed you who you are?" he asks.

She takes a step closer and places her hand on his shoulder, their eyes locking. As soon as her pretty eyes meet his, everything seems to change. What started as just attraction feels much deeper now. He can feel his heart go both calm and jittery at the same time from their proximity. It's almost like his heightened Hunter senses want to kick in, but he manages to hold them at bay.

"You offered your hand to me, and as soon as I accepted, I found a new world I didn't know I wanted to be part of. I thought I was alone, then you and this wonderful group showed up. And yeah, I'm new. I know I'm new and untrustworthy as of right now, but I'm going to do everything in my power to earn my spot here. Maybe even..."

"Well first of all, I'd say you're very trustworthy. You're one of us now. Griffin was right the first day we met. There's not twelve of us, there's thirteen," he whispers, motioning to her. "And second of all, maybe even what?"

She grins at his words. "Thank you, and maybe even one day I can ditch the government and just hide out here. Permanently."

Jungkook feels all his air leave his body. Y/N L/N, living here permanently? The thought both excites him and fills him with dread. Not dread that she'll be here, more dread that she'll be tracked or hurt. That's the last thing she needs right now. She certainly has enough on her plate.

"What about the government? When they see the demon numbers still going down, won't they find out there's more of us?" he asks.

"Maybe," she honestly replies. "Or maybe they'll think I went rogue and started killing demons on my own."

"They won't have anyone to send to other parts of the globe though. What happens if something goes wrong in Canada? Japan? Australia?"

"We'll figure it out," she mutters. "It was just an idea. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have brought it up."

His heart goes soft at her apology. Jungkook can't help himself: he places both his hands on her cheeks. Their eyes lock, and just like that, he feels the same thing he felt during the class 4 fight. His fingertips start to glow, his eyes glowing with them. Her eyes expand while he tries to comprehend this sensation of power and strength flowing through him.

"Jungkook," she whispers. Out of instinct, he brings her into a hug and tries to focus on that. She allows it, clinging to his back and holding him like a scared child.

"Don't apologize. I'm the one who's sorry. I want you to stay here with us, I just want to make sure you do it safely." She nods against his shoulder while he rubs small circles into her back. There's a beat of silence, then, she speaks.

"Kook?" He hums. "You're the prophecy child. You know that, right?"

He sighs. "Yeah. Yeah, I know." They hug for a few more moments before parting. His fingertips and eyes fade back to their normal color, the red tint dissipating from view. "Woah," he mutters. "I've never felt that kind of thing before." 'Not until you showed up' is what he wants to add, but he bites his tongue.

They lock eyes, both of them at a loss for words. Why is his heart about to jump out of his chest? He's literally dying over here, he can't take it. Why is she so-

"Jungkook! Y/N!" Raven's voice calls. Both of them whip around to face her.

"What is it? What's wrong?" Jungkook asks. Raven pants as if she just ran a marathon before slowing to a stop and pointing behind her.

"It's Apollo," she says.

"What about him?" Y/N asks. Raven sucks in a deep breath.

"He's awake."
