Class 4 - 6

A/N:  Hey everyone. I'm in recovery from reconstructive foot surgery, and recovery has been kicking my ass. I've gotten this surgery before so I know what I have to do and everything, but sometimes, it still kicks your ass even when you're prepared.

I'm saying this so you guys know why I haven't been updating much. Even when I am conscious, writing and editing is too difficult for me. I've been sitting in bed, downing (legal) pain meds, and watching Jungkook rage over losing. I'm slowly but surely getting better, but if I don't update as often as normal for the next two weeks, that's why.

Hope that clears that up, and enjoy the chapter!

"Jimin!" Jungkook shouts. The shorter boy stops, waiting for Jungkook to catch up. "You can't do this, it's a class 4."

"I'm doing it," Jimin says in a grumble, starting his fast pace again.

"I won't let you."

"They'll see us, Jungkook. After years of being in the dark, do you want to come out now? There's already those stupid YouTube videos where people claim there's more than one Hunter. Some even have pictures of us on rooftops. They're onto us, we need someone to do this."

Jungkook slows his pace and runs a hand through his hair. "But it doesn't have to be you."

"Who else? Huh? Raven? Hell no, I'm not letting her do it, but she's the only other one with a bow and good aim." Jimin breaks off, softening his gaze while Jungkook shushes him.

"I get it, you're worried, but maybe there's another way."

"We need to lead it away from the people, get it into an alley, make sure we aren't seen but also save everyone we can," Jimin explains, using his hands to emphasis his points. "So I'll go into our main alley, use my arrows as a beacon to drive it away."

Diverting demons in a different direction has always proved difficult. They're fast, so the person that's the distraction needs to be fast too. Jimin's referring to a special process they do when demons come out during the day. They don't have a name for the process, but it's a complicated one.

Demons feed on two things: blood and energy. The metal used to create their swords and arrows holds a lot of energy: the arrows especially. If Jimin uses them to draw the demon away, he'll be right in the crossfire. There's no way in hell he can defeat a class 4 on his own. These things are beyond dangerous. They're deadly.

"Class 3's are hard enough, and this one is faster and smaller. Is your aim really that good?" Jungkook asks.

"Raven taught me, I'm sure I'll be fine," Jimin replies in a huff.

"Jimin-"

"Listen," he interrupts, his voice softer than Jungkook was expecting. "If I don't do this, we fight that thing in the streets. People find out we exist. The government finds out we exist. We've been hiding for years. In the past we wouldn't even debate this. What's different now?"

'I'm a half-breed, Y/N thinks I'm the one. It should be me' is what Jungkook wants to say, but he doesn't.

"I just... it's dangerous. The last time we had to lead a class 4 away from an area was like..."

"Four years ago. It was Raven then, and she got hurt. I'm not risking that again," Jimin says, brushing the thought away. "I can't let her get hurt. Or any of you, for that matter."

If this wasn't such a dire situation, Jungkook would be teasing the fuck out of Jimin right now. But he bites his tongue and nods instead. "I'll agree on one condition."

"I mean we don't really have a choice, but fine, what's the condition?" Jimin asks, crossing his arms on his chest.

"Let me come with you," Jungkook says. "I may not have a bow, but if he gets close enough, I can fight him."

"And I can't? Jungkook, I'm not a kid."

"Neither am I. We're stronger together."

"You know the plan when we lead them away. One person does it while the others hide and jump out at the last minute. That's always been our plan and it's always worked. The demons see one target and they attack right away. They see more than one, they stall. The more aggressive our little friend is, the better for our teammates to hop out and get the jump on him."

Jimin pauses, scanning Jungkook's figure up and down before taking a curious step closer. "Why are you so insistent on changing the plan now?" Jimin asks.

Jungkook lets out a sharp breath, kicking at the ground with his feet. "Because we haven't had a class 4 in forever, and now it's hitting me that I could lose you. We lost so many to class 4's, remember Alice?" Jimin nods. "We lost her during-"

"A distraction plan. I know. We're older now, Kook. More experienced. I won't make the same mistake she did," Jimin says, lowering his tone to a murmur.

They stand in silence for a few moments, mentally agreeing that this is the best plan whether Jungkook likes it or not.

"Just get ready, I'll do the distraction alone. Please keep Raven safe," Jimin mutters.

Jungkook hates this plan. He hates it with every fiber of his being, but he knows deep down there's no other way. They need to get the demon away from the people to fight it. Even then, it's risky. What if the people follow? They'd be stupid to, but some will. Jungkook just hopes they won't see.

On most days when there's a demon in public, they let Y/N handle it and watch from the shadows. But this isn't one of those days. Today is a day where a class fucking 4 is loose. They're powerful and rare. She can't do it alone. Or, more specifically, Jungkook won't let her do it alone.

"Boys, do they really need us to get the work done?" Val's voice says from behind them. Jungkook and Jimin jump, turning to see Y/N, Val, and Raven walking in-step with one another side by side, coming towards them.

"Jungkook, I took you for the responsible one. No offense Jimin," Y/N says, shrugging.

Jimin shrugs back. "None taken. You're not wrong."

"We have a class 4 on the loose. We need to get moving," Raven says, her face expressionless. Jeez, that girl gets angrier by the day, doesn't she? Probably doesn't get laid enough. Or more accurately, she doesn't get laid by Jimin enough. Funny how just one person can make such a huge difference.

Regardless, Jungkook forces himself to focus. Although Raven's being grumpy, she has a point. They need to move.

Jungkook eyes Y/N for a few moments, mentally noting that she has her trusty sword strapped tightly around her. He's seen her in action; she's the real deal. Truthfully, she can probably handle this on her own, but Jungkook won't let her. So, he sighs.

"Are we ready?" Jungkook asks, the girls and Jimin humming. "Then let's go."

~~~
Fucking hell Jimin, please don't die.
You're mentally repeating that phrase over and over again. You just found this merry band of assholes; if one of them dies already, that would be terrible. In a way, it already feels like you're family with them. Speaking of family, Griffin is next to you. Poor guy lost his sister and you look just like her. You can only imagine what he's thinking having you in the middle of an intense fight.
Since class 4's are hard to take down, the entire squad is here to help you. Jimin is on the distraction, the rest scattered around the alley to make better attacks. Like a wave of attacks. One person will hit it, then another, then another. That way the demon doesn't have time to focus on just one target.
You, Griffin, and Raven are all on the rooftop, peeking down as Jimin stands in the middle of the alley. He's slipping his arrow onto the bow. The demon isn't too far; it's downtown. You can hear it from here. Jimin's about to charge out and shoot his arrows one by one, leading it away from the people. A dangerous process but a necessary one, you just hope he doesn't get seen. Demon attacks during the day are a pain in the ass.
Normally demons stick to less populated areas since they don't want to be detected. It doesn't work that well, but they last longer than the ones who step out in public. There's a rift where the demons come from, just like how the angels come from the skies above, but sealing it would mean A) needing to be able to beat all those demons defending it, B) finding it (no one knows where it is), and C) having special powers to close it. No one knows anything about the rift in all the years Hunters have been alive.
"Jimin will be fine, Rave. Don't worry," Griffin says, but the girl looks too antsy.
"I'm sorry. I don't mean to be so rude to the others, it's just... I care about him, you know?" she whispers, tearing up. Seeing her get emotional makes you emotional too. It pains you knowing there's not much you can say to comfort her. The best you can do is help save Jimin when he needs it.
"I know, and he'll be okay. You know him. He's a fighter," Griffin says, offering her a sweet smile.
She returns it. "So are you." She pats him on the shoulder, him sheepishly smiling just as a loud, ear-shattering roar fills the alley. You gulp, grabbing your sword and drawing it. "Be ready to jump, I'll cover you," Raven says, springing her bow free.
"If Jayden were here, he'd say something like 'what are you, the real life Katniss?'," Griffin says, clearly trying to ease some of the tension. To your surprise, it slightly works. Raven looks mildly comforted by his attempt. Key word: mildly. She'll feel better once this is over, same with you.
The rumbling of the ground signals you that this one is a little big. And by a little, you mean a lot. Classes don't determine size, they determine power, but a big class 4 is normally a pain in the ass to deal with. You grit your teeth, preparing to jump on top of the bastard just as Jimin starts running away, shooting an arrow up into the wall of the alley to lure it in more.
Your eyes expand upon seeing the beast. Okay yeah, he's big. Very, very big.
Raven fires away, hitting the thing in the chest, but he barely even flinches. Oh boy, this is gonna be tough to say the least.
Your eyes begin to glow as your abilities kick in, the beast growling while searching for Jimin. It's a big boy, both weight wise and height wise. Good news - he looks slow. Bad news - he looks angry. His eyes are a glowing red, black steam radiating around his body, something all demons have. He has two horn-like structures on the top of his head, his body almost resembling a human, but instead of five fingers and toes, he has four claws for hands and feet. He's around twelve feet tall and wide, his stomach a big target while his head is much slimmer.
The thing jumps after Jimin, the man just barely rolling away in time. "Jimin!" Raven shouts. Just a little bit closer, then you can jump. You have to jump on top of it and try to go for the head.
Climbing a demon, what could go wrong?
Jimin heaves as he runs, about to dodge again when the thing slashes out with the back of its claw. It hits him in the back, knocking him away. "No!" Raven practically screams, jumping off the roof.
"Raven!" Griffin calls.
"Okay, plan B, we go in now!" you say, jumping after her.
The class 4 growls as he turns towards the three of you. You land on the ground effortlessly, your abilities to thank for that. "How the hell are we going to hit his head?" you ask as the creature sizes the three of you up.
"I'll cover you, one of you get to Jimin," Raven says, holding her bow up. She fires, the thing holding up his claw in time to block it.
Raven grits her teeth before glancing over at Jimin. He got hit into the back wall, his form unmoving on the ground.
"Shit, where are the others?!" Griffin asks just as the class 4 pounces. He's pouncing in a tight alley. Great. Just great. The price of not being seen by the public is that you have to fight a twelve foot tall class 4 demon in close quarters. Fucking hell.
Griffin and you dive out of the way at the same time, Raven luckily already on the other side of the creature. She eyes Jimin one last time before deciding to stick with you and Griff, holding up her bow.
"Use the walls to climb!" she says. "He still wants my arrows, I'll distract him and you go!"
You jump up on the brick walls just as he swipes, narrowly missing you. This is going wonderfully, isn't it? Your hands seem to naturally stick to the bricks as you jump upwards, your legs pushing off the wall and going closer to the creature. You land on his outstretched arm. Griffin, who was on the other side, landing on his back.
The class 4 howls in surprise, shaking rapidly to get you both off. You hold on, stabbing your sword through his black, smoky skin. Griffin isn't so lucky; he isn't able to draw his sword in time and gets knocked off. He lands on the ground back-first, groaning in pain.
Before you can make more progress, a shadow seems to pass over you. You peer up and see Jungkook standing on top of the creature's head, drawing his sword. The beast fights, slamming his head into the wall. That action sends you flying, your grip on your sword nonexistent as you fall to the ground right next to Griffin.
You helplessly watch as Jungkook jumps onto the roof, his sword clattering to the ground thanks to the demon's harsh actions. Raven keeps firing arrows, but the goliath pays her no mind as the others jump from the rooftops, all climbing on him. Jungkook looks down at you, and even from here you can see the worry in his eyes. Regardless, he uses his abilities to jump back onto the creature with his teammates even though he doesn't have a sword.
Val hops down from the roof, landing on the terrain and coming over to you and Griff to help you up. "Are you guys okay?" she asks, you groaning as you wobbly stand.
"I'll live, falling twelve feet onto my back isn't exactly..."
"Pleasant?" Griffin finishes, you snorting and nodding.
All three of you gaze up to see the creature holding Jin in one claw, Apollo in the other. "Jesus, we're getting our asses handed to us! Come on, let's join the fight!" Val calls. "Jin hang on!"
However, her cries mean nothing. Jin gets thrown out of the alley, Apollo getting thrown into the same wall Jimin got crushed into.
"Fuck!" you yell, rushing forward to help. Jungkook slides himself down to the creatures arm, crawling over to your sword and pulling it free. Your eyes widen as he grits his teeth, holding it as tightly as humanly possible. Hoseok ends up slipping and falling, landing on a dumpster back-first. It's safe to say he's out for the fight.
The creature doesn't have a tail or anything like that you can climb, so back to the walls it is. You, Griffin, and Val all latch onto the walls as Jungkook struggles to crawl forward, taking his time and sticking your sword into the demon's flesh every step of the way.
The thing is crying out in pain, trying to stomp on Raven, but she's dodging well enough while being careful with where she aims. She doesn't want to accidentally hurt Jungkook or the others. Taehyung is the closest to the thing's head. He's on his neck, his sword gone. He must have lost it in the struggle.
"Tae!" Jungkook shouts, pulling your sword free. They could just use daggers, but with class 4's, normally only swords can kill them. You watch as Jungkook manages to throw the sword the short distance between him and Tae. Tae easily catches it, then sinks the blade upwards through the demon's neck and the back of his skull.
The class 4 cries in pain, wobbling like crazy. Then, he fades into dust. The crew that was climbing all fall to the ground, groaning and wincing from the pain. You prance down from the wall, rushing over to Jungkook first.
"Jungkook!" you say.
He sits up, holding his head. His eyes find yours, and it's like he gains the courage to stand, rushing over to you. To your surprise, he hugs you. You go still for a moment, then hug him back.
"You're okay... you're okay," he mutters, rocking you back and forth.
You can faintly hear crying, your heart panging at the sound. "We have to go before the people see," you whisper. He nods, pulling back and placing both his hands on your face.
"Are you hurt?" he asks, his voice gentle and smooth.
"I'll live. Banged up, but I'll live. You?"
"Same way."
"No! Let me go!" Raven's voice cries. You and Jungkook turn to see Hoseok holding her back while Val is crouched in front of Jimin and Apollo, checking their pulses. Raven eventually collapses in Hoseok's arms, turning and hugging him tightly. He returns the hug, crying softly.
"What the hell?" Jungkook mumbles before grabbing your hand and pulling you towards the scene. "What happened? What's wrong with them?!" Jungkook rapidly asks, stopping only a few feet away from Val.
"They're not waking up. They're still breathing, but they're unresponsive. We need to leave. Now," Val replies.
"I agree, the faster we leave, the better off we all are," Namjoon says in a grumble.
"Someone go find Jin," Val says.
"On it, I'll climb the rooftops and search," Tae says, instantly going up and scaling the walls.
Raven tries to move, but her legs are too weak from crying. Hoseok picks her up, her wrapping her arms around his neck. Your eyes fill with tears despite barely knowing these people. It's hard to see them injured and in emotional pain. You turn to Jungkook, giving him a sympathetic look. His tears are about to fall while he fights to stay strong. You come closer, one hand entwined with his while the other holds his shoulder.
"I'm so sorry," you whisper. "I wish there was something I could do." He breaks at that, shifting and properly hugging you. You gasp as he cries against your shoulder, your tears now falling at his broken state. All because of a monster. Class 4's, they're some of the worst demons imaginable.
The only thing you can hope for is that you never have to fight a class 5...
