Movie Discussion
I saw a movie recently in class, called "I Nostri Raggazzi", or "The Dinner."
In the movie, there are two families. A father who is a lawyer, his wife, and his daughter. And his brother who is a doctor, his wife, and his son.
The doctor (lawyer's brother) allows his son to go to a party. The lawyer allows his daughter to got to the same party.
The kids are underaged, around 17 or so, and they have drinks and smoke at the party. On their way home the drunk children see a homeless woman on the sidewalk. They then proceed to beat her and leave her to die on the side of the road.
Unknowingly they were seen on tape from a security camera, but can't be recognized.
The brothers, the lawyer and doctor, recognize their children. The children even tell their parents it was them after their are questioned.
In the end, the two are faced with a question on what they should do. Either to announce it to the authorities and have their kids convicted, or not to do anything as to not ruin their kids lives. The lawyer believed the right thing to do is to tell the police, and the doctor thinks they should protect their children.
I believed the right thing is to announce it to the police, even if they were my own children. I think that what they did was absolutely wrong and without excuse, as they showed no remorse for what they did.
So I wanted to ask everyone, what would you have done? Even if they were your own children?
