(Modern AU)

"Y/n! Come on we are going to be late!"
"I'm coming I'm coming! Stop rushing me!" I shouted back at my best friend who was solely convinced that us showing up late would ruin our social life.
I grabbed my white towel and shoved my sunscreen in my bag. It was about four pm so the sun would go down soon, but you can never be too careful!
I sighed as I pulled down my hoodie and jogged down the stairs.
"It's about fricken time!" She scolded as I grabbed for the door.
"Shut up you brat!" I insulted as I walked out of the door before her and left her in the dust
"I'm not the one who chooses to be late to every event she goes to!" She yelled I'm front of her to carry her voice to me.
"We aren't late, we just... aren't on time." I reply as I shake my head, opening the passenger side door and get in the car.
My bff gets into the drivers seat and just looks at me with one hand on the top of the wheel.
"We are late." She said bluntly.
Without another word she put the car in drive and we drove off to the party.

When we got there we already heard splashing of a pool and the people in it.
"Ready?" My best friend asked as I finally put my phone away.
"Yes, I'm ready, I was just texting Cedric."
She rolled her eyes and groaned.
"I thought you were over him!"
"I was... was."
"My god you're helpless."
"No, not helpless, just desperate." I gave her the finger guns and she shooed my hands down laughing at my joke.
We walked into the backyard and watched as people jumped around, swam in the pool and grabbed snacks from the table.
We set our stuff down on a pool chair and decided we wanted to swim for a little bit.
I took off my sweatshirt and shorts to reveal a black one piece with little designs on it.
"Come on y/n, it doesn't take forever to get ready to swim."
"Everything takes forever for me!"
She laughed and hopped right in.
I took the liberty of showing off my skills. Seventeen years of swimming isn't going to be wasted for nothing.
I walked over toward the deep end and decided I wanted to jump off the diving board.
I walked myself up the ladder and onto the flimsy board. I took a couple of bounces and threw myself down. I dove into the water with perfect form and swam all the way over to my best friend.
"Show off!" She splashed

Dracos pov
This party was about as entertaining as watching paint dry. I had friends with me and the food was good but there was a lack of excitement. That is until she showed up. Who is she? I must know. I sat next to crabe while he talked to some other friends about whatever it is he talks about. Food probably. I watched her as she walked over and took off her clothes, no doubt to swim unless she's just crazy.
She had a tight black swimsuit on that matched her nail and toenail polish. She didn't get into the pool right away like her friend did but made her way to the deep end. Her hips shifted back and forth as she made her way and I could help but stare. She was like a hypnotist and her body was the pocket watch that put me in a trance.
She got onto the diving board and now I was curious. What was she going to do? I was a little disappointed when she just dove in, I was expecting a flip of some sort, but not completely disgusted. She did do it perfectly. The way her body just slid right in. Perfect form. She must have experience.
I was getting a little hot at this point.
"Crabe! Go get me a drink! It's hot!"
Crabe got up and did as he was told.
He cane back not a moment later with a can of pop.
"Here but I don't understand how you're hot, it's not that hot out!" My face flushed when he said that. Now that I think about it, it really isn't that hot outside. So why was I hot?
My fears ceased when I heard her friend say something and splash. I look back over to see the two splashing each other. She laughed and her friend had to tap out when she started to become water boarded. Her friend swam away and decided to talk to another friend, leaving her alone.
I smacked Crabe on the arm and pointed to the girl.
"Who's that?"
"That's Y/n. She's a senior like us."
"How come I've never met her?"
"She's a new student at our school. She's supposedly really smart."
"How smart?"
"She's taken all AP classes since sophomore year and aced every single one."
My eyes widened at the information. So she's a nerd. Y/n... I like that name.
"You should talk to her, she looks like she needs a friend."
"Yeah right, I don't talk to newbies. They lower my cred."
Crabe just rolled his eyes and went back to his food.
I don't talk to newbies but I want to talk to you.
