Skies, Chapter Thirty Six - Hoshizora [星空]

Whatever that can of white gas was that Terasaka had thrown, it wasn't just plain pesticide.

In fact, Amaya was more than certain of it.

Her eyes continued to sting throughout the last few lessons of the day, and her sense of smell was wrecked. In fact, her throat itched like she'd managed to inhale a little bit of sand, and her head felt stuffy.

It appeared that a few of her classmates were still feeling the effects of it, too – Kanzaki, who'd copped a full hit of the stuff was still coughing every now and then. A couple others seemed to be constantly wiping at their eyes, not that she could really blame them.

And then at long last the chiming bell for the end of class rung, signifying Amaya's few minutes freedom – She'd already packed her stuff away, however.

All she wanted to do was to go to sleep – Here in the classroom, on the train home, at home, it really didn't matter to her.

All her energy was spent.

'Oi, Maya-chan!' Maehara called out as Amaya let herself begin to slump over her desk, causing a faint groan to escape her as she reluctantly looked up in response.

Oddly enough, the Playboy had been looking out the window, though he turned his head to look at her after a second.

'Is that Reiko-chan outside?' He asked her.

'Huh?' Amaya turned her head towards the path that lead down the mountain towards the main campus.

A form stood out amongst the line of trees, dressed in the green and tan of the uniform Reiko usually wore for school. Her much shorter hair proved to stump Amaya for a second, before she recalled the events of yesterday evening.

She was so used to Reiko having long hair in twintails that she almost thought she was looking at another person.

'What the--?' She shook her head slightly as she picked herself out of her seat, grabbing her bag as she looked back at Maehara. 'I gotta go.'

'Oh. Sure...' Maehara responded, though he looked a little confused. 'Everything's okay, right?'

Amaya couldn't help but smile slightly as she headed for the door.

'Yeah yeah, everything's fine.' She responded, waving a hand slightly over her shoulder. 'Later.'

The door clunkled slightly as she slid it shut, and she made as quick an attempt at swapping to her boots as she could.

And then, she was jogging across the schoolyard to approach Reiko.

In the minute it had taken for Amaya to get her boots on, four of her classmates who had already left the classroom approached Reiko to greet her – Sugino, Nagisa, Nakamura and Kurahashi from what Amaya could see from where she was. And a couple others were beginning to approach as well.

Reiko was talking amiably with the four, smiling brightly.

In fact, it was possibly one of the brightest smiles Amaya could recall Reiko to have worn since she had to go back to her normal school.

And realizing that had her heart sink just a little.

'You look so different with short hair, Reiko-chan!' Nakamura spoke with a smile, reaching over to ruffle Reiko's much shorter hair with a hand. 'I don't know if I could cope with having all my hair cut off.'

Was it really that big a deal?

Amaya didn't quite understand it, herself – Her only sensitivity with her hair was her lack of pigment. She honestly didn't care about her own hair past that.

'Well I like it! It looks really cute on you, Reiko-chan!' Kurahashi spoke up with a smile.

'Thank you!' Reiko sung brightly.

Amaya came to a halt a few paces away, burying her hands in her pockets as Nagisa looked back at her.

'Reiko, what are you doing here?' Amaya questioned, earning the attention of everyone else.

Despite the small second of surprise, a bright grin spread across Reiko's face as she bounded over.

'We're going to hang out with Yuta, aren't we?' Reiko spoke up, her arms swinging slightly as she looked up at Amaya's face. 'I thought I'd come here instead of wait for you to come home first.'

Amaya would have asked how Reiko even knew what her plans were, though she guessed Shigure must have had a hand in this and told Reiko to come along.

'You should have emailed me.'

'You would have told me to wait at home, if I did.' Reiko responded brightly.

Amaya sighed at that, running a hand through her hair lightly.

'Yeah ... I guess.' She looked up at the others standing a few paces away. 'A-anyway, we've gotta go – See you guys later?'

'Of course!' Kurahashi responded brightly, while Nakamura, Nagisa and Sugino gave similar responses.

And with that, Amaya sidestepped around them to head down the mountain, Reiko skipping along after her.

The sun was already beginning to bleed oranges and yellows into the skies, casting warm hues over the thick mountain forest as Reiko followed quickly after her.

An almost sombre silence descended upon the two girls, though neither went to break it.

It was obvious that what was waiting for them on the other side of the mountain was not going to be a barrel of laughs – In fact, even though Amaya didn't know what Reiko was thinking, she did know the girl wasn't expecting anything positive of this.

Shigure must have his reasons for having Reiko come along, so Amaya didn't bother to think on it.

The answers would come to light soon enough.

Though regardless of the fact that she trusted Shigure to do his best to keep to her wishes, she was more than just apprehensive about what was going to be decided.

Or what had been decided, more to the point.

This was just the clarifying of what was going to happen.

There was nothing more she could do.

The two girls reached Shigure's temporary residence after a half-hour walk through the city streets, wordlessly, and a sickening churning had appeared in the pit of her stomach.

Just as it had been yesterday, everything seemed silent from the front door, though Amaya didn't stand lost in thought this time.

Without a moment to pause, she unlocked the front door and lead the way inside.

The same light filtered in through the other parts of the expansive house, the same sounds of faint voices, though this time the sounds of approaching footsteps echoed the moment the door had shut behind them.

Loud, quick footsteps belonging to who Amaya knew to be Yuta – She guessed he knew Reiko was here.

Though Reiko continued along like there was nothing wrong, Amaya could see the tension that had begun to creep over the girl from the corner of her eye.

It was as Amaya had reached out to slide the door to the tatami room open that the door in mention had slammed open, revealing Yuta standing on the other side.

He hadn't looked at her once, his mouth open in preparation to say something, however he never got that far.

Because the moment his eyes had fallen upon Reiko, he had frozen dead in his tracks.

'R-Reiko?!' He gasped out, myriad of emotions played across the boys face, ranging from disbelief, to horror, and anger.

Though before he could launch into question, Shigure's alarmingly stern voice echoed from the table still situated in the middle of the tatami room.

'Sit back down, Katsuragi-kun.'

Yuta refused, instead reaching out to try and grab Reiko by the wrist.

'Don't.' Reiko spoke, edging out of his reach.

The next emotion to play clearly across the spectacled boy's face was that of hurt – his eyes had widened slightly, and he seemed at a loss of what was going on.

'B-but Reiko ...'

Amaya let out a small breath as she stepped around Yuta to approach the table where Shigure sat.

And oddly enough, Reiko followed right behind her, much to Yuta's despondence.

A sense of Deja Vu had overcome Amaya at the sight of the exact same layout as yesterday with tea and bowl of anpan, though she knew from the addition of an extra cup of tea and cushion that this was not the case.

'Hey Shigure ...' Amaya greeted the kimono-clad man as she sat down in the same place as yesterday.

'Greetings – I trust the walk was uneventful.' Shigure responded, though he turned his head to look at Yuta. 'Katsuragi-kun, do not make me repeat myself.'

All the while, Amaya kept an eye on Reiko as she sat down on the cushion on the side of the table adjacent to Amaya's.

Hesitantly, Yuta made his way to sit back down at the table, an unreadable look written across his face.

The moment of final words was almost upon them, and the seconds leading to it felt like an eternity.

Shigure was silent for what felt like many long minutes, sipping casually on a cup of tea, like all the other times that hadn't been spent on throwing her across the room to teach her how to actually land and crash without injury.

And then he set his cup down on the table in front of him, opening his eyes to look at Reiko and Yuta.

'Well then, lets not stand on ceremony any longer.'

He then lowered his hands and straightened up on his cushion.

'To begin with, I will clarify some very important factors, so that we are all on the same page.' Shigure began, a rather stern look creeping across his face as he gazed down at Yuta. 'Listen carefully, because I will not be repeating myself.'

A small breath escaped Amaya as she shifted slightly.

'First and foremost, the person who has the most right to stay in that apartment is Amaya, nobody else.' Shigure stated, his gaze narrowing as Yuta opened his mouth in obvious complaint. 'This is because one, I own the lease and pay for it, and two, Amaya is the one who maintains the apartme--'

'But we--' Yuta began, though he was cut short.

'Do not interrupt me, child.' Shigure rebuked, silencing Yuta with a volatile glare. 'You are not helping your situation.'

It sounded like Yuta really had been trying Shigure's patience.

Reiko sitting between Amaya and Yuta let out a small breath as she reached out to lift an anpan from the middle of the table.

Shigure cast the panicking Yuta a long, piercing look before he opened his mouth to continue.

'As I was explaining. You do not contribute in any way to the running of the apartment, leaving it solely to Amaya. You do not do any chores, you do not pay for any necessities, and in fact you even get an allowance from Amaya, which is quite a sizable sum for a child your age.' Shigure surmised, his gaze narrowing with every word. 'Your twin on the other hand handles the cleaning of the bathroom to help cater to Amaya's particular apprehensions, so at the very least she contributes something.'

'B-but--'

'There is no room for complaint - these are the circumstances you have been living with. You do not have to do any chores, you have no curfew, you are free to have friends come and go as you please, and you can do whatever you like.'

Even though Amaya had a feeling Shigure was going to put things in a very blunt manner, she hadn't expected him to be this blunt about it.

But the very second she'd opened her mouth to say something, Shigure shot her a stern look of warning.

Don't.

So Amaya let out a small breath and maintained her silence.

'Secondly, your behavior up to this point has been appalling to say the least – You fail to consider just how much of your actual existence has been given to you by Amaya.'

'What does that mean?' Yuta demanded.

Shigure's gaze narrowed quite noticeably as Yuta stared indignantly back at him.

'Amaya is very stubborn when it comes to you and your twin – Any and every opportunity she has to do something for you, she will do so regardless of the immeasurable frustration it causes others around her.'

Those words caused Amaya to shift uncomfortably in her spot.

Immeasurable frustration?

It felt like someone else would love to say that to her, too.

'So?!' Yuta demanded in response to Shigure's words.

And in response, Shigure continued, though his tone grew progressively more severe.

'If it weren't for Amaya's stubborn insistence eight years ago, you would have been placed into separate foster homes on opposite parts of the country, though Amaya insisted I didn't separate the two of you.' Shigure informed, a stern bite to his tone of voice. 'You wouldn't even know you had a twin sister, let alone ever meet her again.'

Silence echoed in response, so Shigure continued.

'Further to that, the closest thing to a parent you and your twin sister have ever had has always been Amaya – Even your names were given to you by her.' Shigure then fixed Yuta with a cold stare. 'It wouldn't be too much of a jump to consider her as a foster parent than a sister.'

Shigure then cast a look at Reiko.

'I'm sure you would agree, Katsuragi-san.'

Reiko did not answer, though she did seem to smile just the tiniest bit in a bitter-sweet sense.

'Are we all on the same page, now?' Shigure questioned.

Yuta remained silent, while Amaya and Reiko both nodded.

Shigure seemed to let out a breath as he noticed his cup was empty, lifting himself to his feet.

'Please excuse me while I prepare some more tea.' Shigure spoke as he disappeared through the door that lead into the hallway.

The room fell to complete silence with Shigure's momentary absence, the tension thick in the air.

It was clear Yuta wanted to say something – To question Reiko of something, though with Shigure just within earshot, it was clear he wasn't going to chance it.

So, they sat in awkward silence, Reiko munching away at the anpan while Yuta sulked.

And Amaya lost herself in thought.

Well, after Shigure's rather involved talk about how Amaya had more standing to stay in the apartment, she didn't know what to expect.

Or rather, she didn't know what else would be done to appease Yuta without her leaving.

Hell, she didn't know what the best situation for the three of them would be.

The sounds of clinking ceramic jostled Amaya out of her small moment of thought, drawing her attention to the fact that Shigure had just come back.

'Now, where were we?' He spoke as he poured himself a cup, his gaze upon his hands as he moved.

It had occurred to Amaya after having so much to do with the strange man over the past two months that she'd never seen him eat very much, if at all, and he was always drinking a great amount of tea whenever something was amiss.

Perhaps, as chewing her bottom lip was a self-inflicted habit to control ones composure was for Amaya, this constant need for a cup of tea was the same for Shigure?

Not necessarily when he was controlling composure, but when something was weighing on his mind?

He never really drank tea when something unpleasant wasn't going on.

In fact, on normal training sessions, he never touched anything other than water, even during break time.

'I will take your silence as reluctant acceptance and continue where we left off, then.' Shigure spoke up as he set the pot of tea on the table and lifted his own cup into his hands. 'I believe enough has been said about where things stand as of this moment.'

Amaya cast a glance to Reiko, who hadn't said a single word since sitting down.

Neither girl had, and Amaya wasn't the only one aware of it.

'Point number one,' Shigure began, turning his head to look at Amaya. 'You will not be leaving that apartment just to appease your brother, Amaya. Do I make myself clear?'

Surprised, Amaya was silent at first as she absorbed Shigure's words.

Though hesitantly, she nodded in understanding.

Karma would probably torture her if he found out she'd been decided on that.

With a small breath, Shigure then turned his attention upon Yuta.

'If you do not want to live in the same residence as Amaya, then you will be the one to leave, Katsuragi-kun. No exceptions.'

'Wh-what?!' Yuta yelped out, his tone reflecting the horror that had overcome him.

'The same also goes for you, Katsuragi-san.' Shigure remarked, turning his gaze upon Reiko. 'Neither of you are being forced to stay with Amaya – I will relocate you both elsewhere if this is your desire.'

'What do you mean by that?!' Yuta demanded indignantly, lifting an arm to point at Amaya. 'She is the problem, not us!'

'I already explained, Katsuragi-kun – Amaya will not be leaving that apartment just to make you happy.' Shigure shook his head slightly, a small breath escaping him. 'Even if I were to disregard your blatant disrespect towards her, you still do not contribute in any way to validate your own plausible right to stay.'

'That's not fair!' Yuta exclaimed, legitimately quite upset with what Shigure was saying. 'We have every right to stay!'

'Because of what?' Shigure questioned, his tone insistent. 'What reason, pray tell, do you have to make that claim? According to you, neither your twin nor yourself bare any relations to Amaya, so it certainly cannot because of that.'

'You can't kick us out!'

'But you can kick Amaya out of an apartment you don't even own?'

'It's not that big a deal! If she's your niece then she can just live here and we stay in the apartment!'

'That is indeed true. Amaya can live here if she'd prefer. There are plenty of rooms to spare.' Shigure agreed, nodding momentarily. 'However I will not pay for an apartment that Amaya does not live in, so it solves nothing.'

'Just stop, Yuta.' Reiko sighed in exasperation, fixing her twin with a rather despondent look as he'd opened his mouth to continue retaliating.

'What do you mean stop?!' He demanded of her, turning his head to gape at her. 'He's saying we're getting kicked out of the apartment!'

'Shigure-ojiisan didn't say that.' Reiko responded.

'It boils down to the same thing! Why don't you see that?!'

As Yuta continued to drag the situation into chaos, Shigure took a long sip of his tea.

This was getting very, very messy.

But she decided to maintain her silence – Shigure had made it very clear that she wasn't to try and defend or speak up in Yuta's defense.

And she didn't want to cause more irritation to Shigure while he was already so out of sorts.

It was a bad idea.

She didn't want to learn what it was like to be the receiving end of Shigure's anger.

Hell, she didn't even want to ever see Shigure's anger, full stop.

'That is enough argument!' Shigure finally snapped, setting his cup down with enough force to have the tea inside slosh over the rim and over his fingers – Though he didn't seem to notice.

Damnit, he sounded mad...

'Katsuragi-kun. You have been coddled far too much, with too much freedom and not enough discipline, and now you are spoiled beyond all reasonable standards. Therefore, you will not be returning to live in the apartment.' Shigure fixed a cold stare upon the rather startled boy. 'You will live here in this building, under my rules and control.'

Silence had overcome the room once again, and as Amaya looked up at her uncle, she could see that for the first time in what she could remember of years, the look across his face was not controlled in the very least.

'W-wait ... here?!' Yuta yelped out, looking very much like the very thought was rather terrifying. 'No way!'

'This is beyond any choice of yours.' Shigure rebuked, his gaze sharpening, much to the boys displeasure. 'You will be treated as you deserve by the way you act – I will be making certain you realize just how lucky you really have been for the past eight years living in Amaya's care.'

'Wh-what do you mean by that?!'

'Simply put, you will have all of your freedoms and privileges revoked until you earn the right to them once again.' Shigure summarized, casting a stern glance at Amaya for just a second. 'You will have chores, a curfew of 4pm every day, unless you have school-related obligations to fulfill. You will undergo disciplinary training every afternoon, and you will not get any of those privileges and benefits that you have come to expect all this time. So no games, no manga, no movies or allowance. You will not be permitted to have friends over, and you will only be allowed to see your friends outside of school hours by prior arrangements with me. The belongings you will have access to will be brought over by Amaya on her next visit, and I will decide out of those which you will have at that time.'

With every word Shigure said, Amaya could see Yuta's heart sinking more and more, to the point where it honestly looked like he was about to cry.

It took all her self-control to stay silent, and she actually had to turn her head away to maintain it.

'Do we understand each other, Katsuragi-kun?'

Yuta didn't speak another word, however he did eventually nod.

A faint sniffle escaped Yuta as he lifted an arm to furiously rub at his eyes.

'As for you, Katsuragi-san.' Shigure continued, placing a much kinder look upon the girl, who had resumed munching anpan until now. 'Whether you stay with Amaya or come to live here is entirely up to you, though to save arguments down the track, you need to decide which it will be as of now.'

Reiko flinched, blinking owlishly up at Shigure as if she was startled out of a train of thought.

'I can choose for myself?' She questioned.

'That is indeed what I said.'

Reiko was silent at first, though a sheepish smile was soon appearing across her lips.

'I want things back to the way they were, but right now ...' She began, casting a glance at Amaya before looking back to Shigure. 'Well, Amay will forget to eat and make herself sick if she's all on her own, and that'll make Karma-san mad at her, so I'll stay. I'll still get to spend a lot of time in school with Yuta until he comes home again, after all.'

Shigure nodded, seeming pleased with that answer.

'Do we all understand the arrangements now in place?' He questioned.

'Yup.' Reiko spoke up, while Amaya just nodded slightly – Yuta maintained his silence, aside from another escaped sniffle as he tried to stop the tears from overflowing.

'Very good.' He responded, a breath escaping him as he lifted his tea once again. 'Oh yes, that reminds me.'

Shigure then turned his head to look at Amaya.

'I would like you to come for an impromptu training session before Tuesday.' He remarked, his gaze seeming to narrow upon Amaya's motionless form. 'It is important.'

'Venting, self control, etcetera.' Amaya let out a breath as she lowered her gaze to her hands in her lap. 'I know ...'

In truth, she felt like she needed it.

'Good.' Shigure spoke, before he took another sip of tea.

'Then ... we should probably get going ...' Amaya spoke, taking note of the dusk-like light that showed through the tatami room that said it was quite a bit later than she'd thought. 'Dinner and such...'

'Oh! I-is it okay if I stay a bit?' Reiko spoke up all of a sudden, looking up at Shigure from Amaya's suddenly frozen form. 'I wanted to spend some time with Yuta since he didn't come to school today.'

'I have no problem with that.' Shigure responded, sipping his tea once again. 'In fact, it would be easier on Amaya if you stayed the night – It would be a long trip to come walk you home again, and there are extra rooms here.'

At that suggestion, Reiko cast a hopeful look up at Amaya.

The uncertainty that hadn't once left Amaya was growing stronger, though she swallowed her reservations and gave a small nod in agreement.

It was kinder to Yuta, more than it was to Amaya.

He was miserable after all, and even though Amaya didn't like the prospects of being left alone to the hell inside her head, she didn't want Yuta to be left all alone.

She didn't want him to think they'd abandoned him.

'Okay ... I guess I'll head home ...' Amaya hedged, gingerly lifting herself to her feet.

There honestly wasn't much more she could say – not now.

Not when her emotional self was so conflicted and the situation had ended up in such a way.

There was a small exchange of words, though Amaya didn't consciously hear the words spoken – Lost in her train of thought, she'd vaguely recalled bidding herself farewell, and leaving.

With Reiko and Yuta still sitting at that table with Shigure.

The world outside of Shigure's temporary abode only vaguely came to Amaya's notice, if only because of how contrasting it was to the sense of dread that had filled that tatami room the whole time she was there.

The stars were shining in the sky, the sounds of traffic present though it did nothing to deter from the sense of peace there was about the place.

A polar-opposite in atmosphere.

And it made Amaya feel even more out of place than ever before.

Words tumbled along almost in uncoordinated fashions – Her mind was in disarray as she took the now-familiar route back home.

She felt guilty beyond belief – It felt like this whole mess was still her fault.

It felt like she was the cause of everything going wrong, and maybe in spite of it all, it was better if she just disappeared.

If she disappeared like Yuta had wanted, maybe everything would sort itself out?

Because even though she did her best, it still felt like she always did something wrong.

And she was so tired of that feeling.

Why couldn't she do anything right?

It hurt so much to consider that maybe she never would.

With every step, she could feel herself crumbling a little more inside, and she was beginning to feel like she didn't want to pull herself back together again. Her gaze remained unseeing upon the concrete beneath her feet as the world moved along just the same without her.

Just as it always would.

A sea of faces stretched out all around her, as expansive as the sea of stars above her head.

And yet she found herself still trapped inside the sea of water inside of her as she tried to put her mind to the tasks she had to get done for the night.

To empty out Yuta's belongings into boxes and duffell bags, and bring them over one by one.

Only the furniture would stay, because in time, maybe Yuta would come back?

A wishful thought amongst a myriad of hopeful thoughts.

And all the more, she found herself losing her sense of direction.

She fumbled with the keys to her apartment as the elevator reached her floor, her numb fingers struggling to grip the key properly as she ambled towards the door of her apartment.

She didn't take notice of her surroundings at all.

At least, until she opened the door.

Sounds of the television running met Amaya's ears as she stared into what was a mostly-black apartment. The dramatic echoes of sound effects that suited a particular genre of movie, if she wasn't mistaken.

But nobody was supposed to be here – She was supposed to be all on her own.

It was as she stepped into the living room that she heard the sound suddenly cut off, as if the television had just been put on mute, or more likely, a DVD had been paused.

And she found that her apartment was far more inhabited than she'd thought.

Karma, along with Nagisa was sitting on the couch directly in front of the television, a superhero movie paused on the screen.

It was one of the ones that she'd watched before, though she couldn't pin a name to it.

'G-good evening, Amaya-san.' Nagisa greeted Amaya, an edge of sheepish discomfort echoing in his voice.

'What took you so long?' Karma called over, his sharp gaze taking in her rather subdued disposition. 'We've been here for hours.'

'A-ah ... I'm sorry.' She hedged, an apologetic smile written across her face as she began to head towards the bedroom hallway. 'Something came up...'

Even though she certainly didn't recall any sort of arrangement that would explain why Nagisa and Karma were here using her apartment like this.

Though she couldn't claim to have checked her phone since leaving the classroom.

'Where's Reiko-chan?' Karma questioned.

'... Out. She won't be back tonight.' Amaya answered, closing the hallway door behind her.

And then all was silent.

The smile she forced upon her face slowly melted away as she found herself fishing the spare duffell bags and the very few packing boxes from the cupboard built into the hallway wall.

And she set about the task that Shigure had given her.

Yuta's green-walled room with white carpet stood out in great contrast to Reiko's orange and pink room, in more ways than just the colours.

The entire wall to the right of the room was lined with manga and cases for DVD and Games.

There was so much here, Amaya was certain it would take her all night to just pack everything away in neat, organized arrangements in the boxes.

And as Shigure had requested yesterday, she was to keep an eye out for anything that didn't belong here.

So she had to scan through absolutely everything while she packed.

With a small breath, Amaya set the boxes and bags on the floor, and set about her task for the evening.

Though before long, the door to Yuta's room opened almost all of a sudden, and before she had even managed to set the few articles of clothing she had left to pack in their duffell bag, she was grabbed by the back of the shirt and dragged to her feet.

'Wha--?!' Was all Amaya had managed to gasp out before she was dragged out of the room in just the same manner. 'The hell are you doing?! Let go!'

'I don't think so~' Was Karma's reply as he dragged her back into the living room, where a rather confused Nagisa remained seated upon the couch.

'Damnit, I've gotta get Yuta's stuff pa--'

'That can wait.' Karma cut over her attempted exclamation, dragging her over so that she literally fell backwards onto the couch between him and Nagisa. 'You're watching this with us – No complaints, unless you'd like a tube of caramel forced down your throat.'

The sheepish chuckle that escaped Nagisa was enough to have Amaya reluctantly give in.

In truth, she did feel too tired to want to do anything.

Seeming to take her lack of resistence for the reluctant agreeement that it was, the movie was resumed.

She was too drained mentally to really be all that interested in the movie, especially since it was one that she had seen before.

And after what felt like a mere few minutes of staring at the television screen, she found herself nodding off to sleep.

Not even the sudden explosion of sound from the start of the movies climatic sequence was enough to jostle her.

Sleep came to give her a momentary reprieve from the heartache.
