Cosmos, Chapter Twenty One - Kyōgō suru rieki [競合する利益]

(For all of those confused about this chapters appearance, it was in the bottom of an April fool's prank just removed lol. Enjoy)

It turned out that there was more to the obsession of Sweets than Amaya could have hoped to imagine.

After she had managed to escape Karma's interrogation torture, everyone set to work getting Kayano's Assassination Plan underway.

There was the science of gelatine and agar composition, combined with different melting points and many other things that just bewildered and confused Amaya beyond what she'd thought possible. By lunch-time they had gotten a good half of the pudding combined together, along with small pockets of fruit flavor wrapped in edible wafer paper. By the time they had filled the whole giant mold, the sun was low in the sky, and if it were a school-day, it would be overtime.

As Amaya had expected, everything reeked of the sickly sweet scent of pudding, even in its most incomplete form. And what was worse that with all the work helping out to the best of her abilities, the scent of sweets had practically adhered to her skin. No matter how hard she scrubbed her hands in the girls washroom, the smell wouldn't leave her reddening appendages.

By the time she had given up and re-emerged from inside, the sun had begun to set over the horizon, and nearly everyone had already left.

The only ones left were Kayano, Nagisa, and Karma.

They were standing on the slope leading down to the schoolyard, with the pudding right in front of them. They appeared to be discussing something, so she decided she should probably leave them to it – She wanted to get home and try and get rid of this pudding stench after all.

And since she hadn't planned what she was going to be cooking for dinner, she guessed some take-out would be okay.

Some healthy take out, that was.

She hadn't missed the fact that Yuta was outvoted Thursday night, and Reiko and Samuel had ordered desert pizza for dinner, which was something peculiar to Amaya.

She never even realized there was such a thing.

'I'm going!' Amaya called out just loud enough to be heard, earning the closest one's attention. 'See you guys later!'

Which, just so happened to be Nagisa, as he turned his head to look at her departing form.

'Oh! Have a good evening, Amaya-san!' He responded, earning a lazy wave over one shoulder.

The walk down the mountain was uneventful, her surroundings dulled out with the sound of her music ringing softly through her headphones.

Her thoughts were absorbed with her to-do list, and the painful knowledge that she had to go back to tend to the giant pudding tomorrow, along with everyone else.

Takebayashi had been elsewhere for the first half of the day, putting together the bomb that was to be placed in the bottom of the pudding. And just before the pudding mix had been poured into the mold, the bomb had been painstakingly installed by the bespectacled boy, surrounded by a film of Ant-sensei BB's, which themselves were enveloped in an air-tight seal so the pudding mix didn't contaminate them.

Watching it all being put together had Amaya understand that it was a well thought out plan, though like always, she had apprehensions on it working.

As Terasaka had said before, there had been attempts involving food and Anti-sensei BB's that fell straight through.

Her thoughts and inward planning were cut short upon arriving at the main campus however, just as she noticed a familiar form standing at the closest exit out of the premises.

The bespectacled form of Yuta stood there, looking more than just a little nervous. He was entirely alone, a wad of paper streams held in his hands, by the look of it.

'What the hell...?' Amaya muttered as she picked up the pace to approach, a hand lowering her headphones from her ears. 'Yuta?'

The boy flinched at the sound of Amaya's call, though he looked up as she came to a halt in front of him.

It was here that she noticed the wad of paper streams the boy held were actually receipts, tugging at her confusion even worse.

'H-hi Amaya...' Yuta hedged, seeming to hesitate slightly as he glanced past her for a second. 'I umm ... I'm really sorry...'

Oh no ... This didn't sound good.

'For what?' She questioned.

All Yuta did was avert his gaze as he held out the receipts to her without a word.

The wad of receipts turned out to be one alone, which was horrifying for Amaya just to see it. And as she carefully unfolded it, the receipt was almost as long as she was tall.

She ignored the approaching footsteps she could hear, her gaze traced the receipt that did indeed contain everything she had listed down, though that was only the first third of the whole receipt. The further down she scanned, the more her brow furrowed and her jaw tightened as she found herself reading an endless barrage of sweets and candies that should never have been purchased.

And they weren't the cheap variety either.

Ice-creams, packets of bonbons, and a great many items that pushed the sum higher and higher.

And most of these were items that even Yuta didn't really eat, even though he had more of a sweet-tooth than Amaya did. He was more of a salted caramel and toffee person, and there was none of those on the list.

And the worst thing was the price – At the bottom, instead of the modest sum for the fortnight's shopping, it was at least triple.

If Amaya had of spent that money herself, she could have outfitted the house, food and all to live off of for two whole months.

'I-I tried to stop them ... I swear.' Yuta actually spoke, an edge of guilt touching his voice. 'The security guard pulled me aside before I could do anything...'

'Heh~ I didn't know you even had that kind of money to throw around~' Karma spoke as he came to a stop and peered over her shoulder. 'Or was it yours, Amay?'

She didn't answer, a volatile glare appearing across her face as she pulled her phone from her pocket.

'Ritsu-san?'

'Hai! How can I help, Amaya-san?' The Fixed Artillery's avatar appeared with a bright grin, drawing a sudden look of shock from the bespectacled boy in front of Amaya.

'I want to see some footage. For this location here.' Amaya began as she showed the receipt information to the back camera.

And of course, Ritsu gave a bright smile.

'Of course! Just one moment.'

The faint snicker she heard escape Karma as he leaned forward to grab the receipt from her hand didn't fail to come to her notice, though she was far too preoccupied with the excessive expenditure to respond.

'I have found it!' Ritsu sung as she returned, pulling up a file from the security feed.

On the screen for the progression of five minutes, Yuta spent the majority loading up a half-trolley of the items Amaya had requested onto the counter, with Reiko slinking in the back. Then, just as Yuta had begun to pull out the card and pin she had lent him to pay for everything, Samuel had leaped out and practically grabbed it from the bespectacled boy's grip and took off running with it.

And, as Yuta disappeared in panic to stop Samuel from running in the supermarket and retrieve the keycard, Reiko loaded up the counter with sweets and worse. Just as Yuta had said, he'd been grabbed by one of the supermarket security guards, which was when Samuel took off back to Reiko, who then purchased everything with the keycard.

It was mischief Amaya was already fully aware of Reiko having the mentality of committing, Yuta just usually managed to quash it rather quick before Samuel joined their skewed little circle.

But that didn't do anything to dull down the growing agitation inside of her.

In fact, she was actually angry.

'Where are they?'

Yuta seemed to avert his gaze from her meekly as he responded with 'At home...'

That was all Amaya needed to tug the excessively long receipt from Karma's grip and march herself all the way home.

She hadn't missed the amused chuckle that escaped from Karma as she left.

The scene that Amaya had arrived home in time to see was one of havoc, of a mild variety.

The two with dangerous sweet-tooths were sitting on the couch, their mountain of purchases deposited onto the table in a sizable pile. And, in the midst of all this, Reiko was explaining how the packet of candy in Samuel's hands was supposed to be eaten, and with what other things to bring out the flavor.

And the boy was hanging off of every word, far too enthralled to even notice Amaya walk through the door.

So she made her presence known by slamming the front door shut, earning a yelp from both children sitting in the living room.

'Oh! Welcome back, Amay!' Reiko sung out as she noticed the fair-featured girl's return, though her expression began to turn pensive. 'How did extra classes... go...?'

Samuel, who was usually very quick to leap on her in greeting actually seemed to stay motionless on the couch with a look of apprehension in place.

'It went fine.' Amaya responded as she lifted up the receipt. 'I see you two had an eventful day.'

'Yeah, we went shopping...' Reiko's brow furrowed as she turned on the couch to face Amaya. 'Is something wrong? You look mad.'

'Yes, there is something wrong.' She quipped as she then let the receipt unroll until its end was resting across the floor. 'Do you mind explaining this receipt? Just who's money did you think you were practically stealing today by spending it on this crap?'

At that demand, Reiko actually looked rather horrified.

'Steal?! N-no, we didn't! Yuta said we were shopping, but he wouldn't give us our pocket money!' Reiko practically cried out, the horror strengthening with every passing word.

'That's because it wasn't his money, and there was no allowance for you to spend. I asked Yuta if he could do the shopping for me since I had to go to school today.' Amaya responded as she rolled up the paper. 'I understand a joke, or a prank, but you know how I feel about wasting so much money on pointless things!'

'A-Amay--'

'And worse, I've seen footage of you deliberately playing it over by getting Yuta in trouble with security long enough for you to throw all this in.' Amaya continued, crossing her arms over her chest as she stared the girl down. 'I take it Yuta already told you he had a list and nothing else was going to be bought, right? And you obviously conveniently forgot that I give your allowances out on Sundays!'

It was at these words that Reiko actually hung her head, and a guilty look appeared across her face.

'I-I'm sorry Amay...' Reiko whispered, while Samuel remained motionless with a tearful look across his face. 'It won't happen again...'

'Oh trust me, it won't.' Amaya responded, casting a stern look down at the chastened pair. 'You will be making it very clear to Yuta just how sorry you two are for causing him this much trouble, and, while I will not be confiscating your sweets, you will forfeit your allowances until every yen of Shigure-ojisan's money has been repaid in full.'

'What?!' Reiko practically wailed, disbelief resounding complete with every passing second. 'But that will--'

'Take three months, yes, I know.' Amaya responded seriously, her expression sharp. 'There will be no negotiations.'

'B-but Sammie didn't--'

'Do we understand each other, Reiko? Samuel?' Amaya pressed with her tone raised.

With no room for negotiation, both Reiko and Samuel hung their heads, resigned to their punishments now issued without pity.

'Yes ... Sorry Amay...' Reiko apologized somberly.

There was nothing more that needed to be said, so with a curt nod, Amaya turned to head to the pantry room after dropping her mostly-empty messenger bag onto the floor just next to the door.

She absorbed herself in checking that everything was put away neatly, in all of their specific places and the lighter items place in front of the movable panel of walling.

Unfortunately, in Yuta's lack of familiarity with the pantry-room's decided arrangements, he put everything in completely the wrong place, though Amaya could tell that beyond Reiko and Samuel's mischief, the bespectacled boy had picked every single item perfectly, brand and quantity in mind.

It was some time later when she heard signs of Yuta arriving back – She'd finished arranging the right-hand wall so that she could come and go easily without having to rearrange the pantry every time, when she heard Reiko's muffled voice through the door left adjar.

And, she heard that Karma was back, too, though that was from a simple, and rather amused remark of his.

'Don't come to me for sympathy – You know money is the only thing she gets that angry over.' He had remarked with a chuckle, sign enough that he definitely didn't feel sorry for the two. 'You should have expected it.'

Amaya let out a breath as she continued on with her decided task.

From the lack of response from Reiko and Samuel, she guessed they couldn't exactly argue.

Even being new with them, Samuel had been on enough shopping trips with Amaya to know that she tended to fret over a few yen difference.

And so, the evening passed in a rather quiet manner, speckled with Karma's taunts and remarks that she was hiding away like a cat after being given a bath.

Needless to say, his taunting remark had issued him a filthy glare and her retreat to her so called bedroom for the rest of the evening.

There however, was a bag sitting neatly, inconspicuously atop the grey covers.

Inside, was a book bought brand new, one she had certainly never read before.

'The Count of Monte Cristo, huh?' Amaya found herself flipping it over to read the blurb on the back. 'I think I've heard of this one..'

She guessed this was left here by Yuta of all people – This wasn't the first time a book had mysteriously appeared following the bespectacled boy's sudden apology for something he felt rather responsible for.

So, she settled herself in to begin reading.

The following day, there was far more work in connection with the pudding construction.

After spending overnight to set properly, and the morning to gently ease the pudding free from the mold using cold air supplied by generators, the class had to painstakingly glaze the pudding by hand.

Amaya had no idea why a pudding was so much work, but it was.

At the end of the day, Yoshida and a couple of the other boys in class went up to the top of the pudding via scaffolding, and at Kayano's instructions, carefully toasted the top layer of the pudding with what looked like a flame-thrower of all things.

And, once the top was a toffee-gold on top, it was time to let the pudding sit for a final night following some last preparations to keep it untouched in the meantime.

Which, painfully so, lead to Tuesday morning.

They were all standing there at the satellite campus bright and early, standing in front of the giant pudding that had taken three whole days to construct.

Three whole days of smelling like damned pudding, in Amaya's perspective.

The more energetic and excitable of her classmates let out cheers as they stared up at the gelatinous form of their efforts, some even punched the air to show their excitement.

And Nakamura was rather quick to stand with the pudding at her back so she could photograph herself with it.

And all Amaya could do was sigh.

What with this pudding event going on, and Reiko and Samuel's mischief, Amaya was well and truly sick of sweets.

She wanted nothing more than to go home and hide from the world for the rest of the day.

'Oi, Amaya-chan~!' Came Nakamura's mischievous call, bringing Amaya to reluctantly look over. 'Come with me for a minute!'

It was here that she found herself being dragged over to the pudding within seconds by the blond girl.

'Why are you dragging me here?' Amaya asked wearily.

'I want a selfie with you and our pudding!' She beamed with a cheshire grin. 'I already have one with Nagisa-kun, and one with Kataoka-chan.'

Instead of arguing, Amaya let out a breath as she resigned herself to her fate.

'Heh? What's with the sour look on your face, Amay?' Came Karma's amused remark before long, just as Nakamura tried to get her to smile a little more. 'You look like someone just thew water at you.'

Amaya turned her head and fixed the approaching redhead with a scowl.

'Come on, Amaya-chan! Just one smile!' Nakamura urged her.

'That's not going to work, Nakamura~' Karma snickered slightly as he stepped in close next to Amaya. 'She is a cat after all~'

And then, before Amaya could have even attempted to get away, he grabbed her from behind in his usual pinching torture, forcing her to mouth to shape into a smile.

'Owwww!' Amaya managed to get out, her hands lashing upwards to try and pry his hands away from her. 'Staph!'

'Smile Amay~' Was all she received in teasing response.

'Leggo! Staph it!'

'Nope~!'

'Ne, Karma-kun,' A thoroughly amused Nakamura began, dragging the redhead's attention away from Amaya. 'Is Amaya-chan ticklish, by any chance?'

'Heh? I don't actually know.'

'Yes she is!' Amaya heard Maehara call out from across the schoolyard, ripping a startled flinch from Amaya almost instantly. 'She's got ticklish sides!'

How the hell--?!

'Eh? How'd you know, Maehara-kun?' Nakamura asked curiously.

And yet, Amaya could practically feel the glare Karma was wearing.

She prayed he wasn't fixing the glare on her.

'Reiko-chan told me.' Maehara answered brightly, none the less. 'I was saving the info for interrogating her, though.'

Amaya was doomed – She knew that now.

The last person she ever wanted to know she was ticklish was the evil incarnate still holding her in a pinching hold.

'Everyone,' Came Karasuma's ever-serious voice all of a sudden, snatching up everyone's attention almost immediately. 'The Target will be arriving within the next few minutes. Please make all final arrangements before he gets here.'

Did that means he was free from this pinching, selfie torture?

The shutter-sound emitted from Nakamura's phone told her this was not the case.

'Can I go now?' Amaya asked as she managed to free the right side of her face from Karma's pinching hold. 'Koro-sensei's gonna be here soon and I don't want to deal with him laughing at me anymore.'

'One more!' Nakamura announced, drawing a sigh from Amaya once again.

However, she felt that pinching hold of the left side of her face disappear all of a sudden, and his hand shifted to atop her head.

'I'd actually like a picture of you with a smile, Amay.' She heard Karma mutter lowly into her ear, quiet enough that only Amaya could have heard, and a second later, Nakamura took that last photograph.

Unfortunately for Amaya however, her expression had turned rather shocked, and face had started going red just as the photograph was taken.

And she could see that it showed clearly in the image.

'Oh! That's a good one!' Nakamura announced brightly as she finally released her one-armed hold of Amaya's shoulders. 'Karma-kun, Amaya-chan, did you want copies?'

'Sure~' Karma hummed as he smirked at Amaya.

However, Nakamura's release of the now-flustered girl was a taken opportunity for her to quickly flee, much to a snickering redhead's amusement.

Much like the past two days, Amaya retreated to Isogai's general proximity in the hope that the Ikemen's presence would keep her safe from more embarrassment.

'Oh, she ran away.' She heard Nakamura snicker slightly from the other side of the pudding.

As soon as this Assassination Attempt was concluded, she was going to hide in the attic-room.

But then, within a minute it seemed, Koro-sensei arrived.

A sudden gasp was heard from up in the sky, and almost instantly, the octopus himself appeared right at the steps of the schoolyard, utter disbelief written across his face.

'Oh! Koro-sensei!' Kayano spoke up brightly from a few meters away, bringing everyone to look over at the motionless Octopus. 'Good morning! You're just in time!'

He appeared far too shocked to even speak, earning a sheepish chuckle from multiple people surrounding the pudding.

So, the petite girl decided to continue brightly.

'This is for you, Koro-sensei.' She continued, seeming to snap Koro-sensei out of his shocked stupor.

With every passing second, the disbelief across his sulphur-yellow face faded away gradually, making way for a form of undiluted glee.

And, much like when Takaoka had brought all those cakes the first day, drool began to slowly trail down from his excessively grinning maw.

'I-Is this ...' Koro-sensei began slowly, before he whirled around to face the bulk of the class. 'Is this really for Sensei?! Is it okay if Sensei eats this whole thing?!'

'Please do.' Nakamura responded with similar emphasis to a deadpan as she turned to head back towards the classroom. 'We just wanted to save the disposed eggs.'

'It's a waste otherwise, so eat the whole thing, okay~' Kurahashi added with a cheerful hum as everyone else began to head inside.

'We've got English Class though, so we'll leave you to it.'

Koro-sensei's sense of rationality was now officially hurled out into space at those words – His face was blushing profusely while maintaining his sulphur yellow base, and tears began to pour from his eyes as he turned back towards the humongous pudding.

'OF COURSE!' He practically gasped out with barely-contained exuberance as he ripped out two trowels from within the pockets of his teaching robes, drawing a cringe from Amaya as she decided to retreat inside as well. 'AHH, MY DREAM HAS COME TRUE!!!'

And with a frantic, uncontrollable shriek of delight, Koro-sensei hurled himself into the top of the pudding.

Everyone was gathered in the corridor overlooking the schoolyard by the time Amaya had wandered inside, observing the ravenous octopus now practically burrowing his way through the pudding, so she took up a space of the wall a few meters away from where Takebayashi was currently standing with his laptop in his grip.

The only thing she could honestly say with complete conviction, was that watching Koro-sensei in such a stare devouring a pudding, was disturbing.

It was actually very hard for her to watch, let alone keep a straight face.

'You know, Amay~ I could practically imagine Reiko-chan having the same reaction if she was in Koro-sensei's position.' She heard Karma remark all of a sudden, causing her to turn her head in response.

She found that he had taken up the space of wall right next to her, his hands buried in his pockets as he watched outside with a sly smirk.

'Shut up!' She practically spat, affronted with the remark.

Though inwardly, she had been thinking the exact same thing.

It didn't help that Koro-sensei's endless shrieking between garbled mouthfuls of pudding of "So delicious" was ringing throughout the whole area.

It honestly made Amaya uncomfortable.

Though it was here that Amaya noticed Kayano standing at the window next to Takebayashi, and her shoulders seemed slumped.

In fact, Amaya thought the girl was looking a little depressed.

She wasn't too surprised though – Kayano had been so enthusiastic with building the pudding to such a scale, and it was a well-known fact that Kayano adored sweets, and puddings most of all.

The petite girl took so much pride in her pudding assassination plan, after all.

Maybe Amaya should buy the little greenette a pudding later, to cheer her up?

That's what she had thought, before a blood-curdling shriek rang through the corridor with near-deafening volume, causing everyone present to actually jump in fright.

'NOOOOOOOO!!!' Kayano cried out, losing herself to a rather terrifying mix of panic and rejection which, to Amaya's utter horror, resulted in her slamming her head against the window. 'WE POURED OUR LOVE INTO MAKING THAT PUDDING!!! WE CAN'T BLOW IT UP!!!'

'WAH! CALM DOWN, KAYANO-CHAN!' Sugino practically shouted in fright.

Amaya didn't understand what had overcome Kayano exactly, only that it reminded her vividly of a horror movie she had watched before.

'Don't go feeling empathy for the pudding Kayano!!!' Terasaka ground out as he leapt forward to pry Kayano away from the window, an arm looping around the girl's neck to prevent her frantic motions. 'Didn't we make it to blow it up?!'

Amaya cast a frantic glance at Koro-sensei still burrowing through the pudding.

Oh god, he had good hearing, didn't he?!

Surely he could hear the commotion going on inside!

'K-Kayano-san, stop--' Amaya had begun gently in the hopes that it would calm the tantrum-throwing girl down.

'NO!! LEAVE IT ALONE!!!' Kayano continued her rant as tears began to pour down her face. "WE'LL USE IT TO DECORATE THE SCHOOLYARD AS A MONUMENT FOR ALL ETERNITY!!!'

'IT'LL ROT!!!' Most of the present classmates rebuked with a sudden exclamation.

And then, as if he had been summoned right at that second, Koro-sensei appeared in the corridor with a rather pleased look across his face.

'Phew, let's take a short break~' The Octopus announced as he wiped his mouth with one arm-tentacle.

And in the other?

As Amaya had guessed was none other than the block of explosives Takebayashi had painstakingly put together, detonation pins removed completely.

Everyone whirled around in shock at Koro-sensei's sudden arrival, except for Amaya, who buried her face in her hands, and Karma who snickered slightly from right next to her.

'Sensei caught the scent of a foreign object mixed in, so after burrowing underground, I removed it.' Koro-sensei explained, grinning away as he gently tucked the block of explosives into his gaping mouth. 'Among the ingredients for plastic explosives, there are those that give off a strong smell.'

So it wasn't the damn commotion that alerted Koro-sensei to the explosives... it was the smell.

Just typical...

'Takebayashi-kun, please try researching ingredients that won't reach Sensei's nose.' Koro-sensei instructed of the bespectacled boy, earning a small, slightly disappointed nod of the head.

'...Will do.' Takebayashi agreed.

'Sensei suggests, when in doubt on that very subject, you should try collaborating~' Koro-sensei continued, and all of a sudden Amaya was tugged away from the wall with a squidgy tentacle around her right elbow. 'Amaya-san of course has the sharpest nose here besides Sensei's, after all~ You should make use of her particular talents~'

Amaya was silent at first as Koro-sensei's words sunk in on her.

'OI! DON'T TALK ABOUT EXPLOITING ME LIKE I'M SOME CANINE MUTT!' Amaya shouted as she rounded on the snickering octopus.

'Heh, then you definitely rather being called a Cat, then?' Karma interjected.

'I DON'T LIKE THAT, EITHER!'

'That can wait for now. More importantly...' Koro-sensei interrupted what was a building argument as he suddenly handed every student a desert-glass of pudding with a spoon. 'Pudding is something you eat together with others. I sorted out the clean parts and placed them here.'

Immediately, at the sight of the squidgy, egg-based substance in front of her, a slightly sour look touched Amaya's face.

However, almost everyone else was brimming with smiles and enthusiasm.

'However, eating eggs that are set to be disposed ... Strictly speaking, that violates economic rules.' Koro-sensei added as he held up an egg and their cvics textbook up for emphasis. 'Let us think about the importance of food during out next civics lesson.'

Great ... pudding and more talk about schoolwork.

Amaya let out a breath as she wandered into the classroom along with everyone else, though she deposited her glass of pudding onto Koro-sensei's desk.

She honestly didn't want anything more to do with sweets.

However, she wasn't having any luck with that...

'Ah, Amaya-san!' Came Koro-sensei's sudden call, just as she'd let go of the crystaline-like container. 'Aren't you going to have any Pudding?'

'No thank you.' Amaya responded curtly as she threw a scowl in Koro-sensei's direction. 'You know full well that I do not like sweets.'

'They would do your mood some good, though, Amay.'

Karma was the next one to earn a scowl from Amaya, though a little stronger than the one she'd given Koro-sensei.

'You mind your own business!'

'Heh, but it is my business.' He remarked with a smirk. 'I have to deal with your moody attitude all the time~'

Amaya fixed him with a glare next.

'Then stop invading my house all the time!'

'Awww, Amaya-chan needs some sweetening up~' Nakamura teased as she appeared right behind Amaya, causing the girl to flinch. 'I think we should do something about that~'

'That's a good idea~'

'Oh hell no!' Amaya practically squeaked as she tried to make a move to escape.

Though she was thwarted by none other than Nagisa of all people, who just so happened to be in the process of walking through the door with Kayano, providing Karma moment enough to haul her back towards the Koro-sensei's desk.

'Noooo! Let go of me you jerk!' Amaya practically cried out.

Though it fell on deaf ears.

Within a few short seconds, she had been restrained and forced to down her pudding against her will, all within sight of everyone in class.

Just like with the sun lotion last term, no amount of resistance was successful in the end.

As a despondent and rather upset Amaya sulked in the corner with tears brimming her eyes, everyone laughed and joked about.

'That's too bad, Kayano.' Amaya vaguely heard Nagisa say to a nearby Kayano, though petulantly she kept her gaze on her phone and nowhere else. '...Or actually, are you relieved?'

The petite greenette let out a sheepish chuckle, just as Karma decided he was going to sit on the floor next to Amaya.

'But, I didn't think you could be this thorough. It was fun and unexpected.' Nagisa continued.

And then, with a well-acted motion of pointing at Nagisa with her pudding glass in hand, Kayano cast him a wink.

'A true blade is one you don't even show to your close friends.' She declared with conviction.

It was such strong, entire conviction that sent chills down Amaya's spine, bringing her to look up at the petite girl in fright.

'If it requires jiggly blades, I have plenty of those at my disposal.'

And in spite of the fact that Koro-sensei's face turned bright orange with a scarlet circle to convey her declaration to be correct, Amaya didn't like it.

She got a truly foreboding feeling from that declaration.

And it legitimately bothered her.
