Cosmos Chapter Thirty Three - Nigai [苦い]
The torture of study went more or less as Amaya had already expected. It was an almost endless barrage of pinching torture whenever she would get something horribly wrong, with just the minor errors resulting in a minor slap upside the head. Beyond that, it was tolerable in the sense that she was comprehending more than when Koro-sensei tried to forcefully cram everything into her head within one sitting.
How anyone could focus like that was beyond her.
She didn't recall when the torture had ended, or even how long she had been subjected to Karma's rather painful form of teaching. When she knew it was over, she was curled up in the egg-chair in the attic waking up to the alarm she had set on her phone for morning preparations.
While there was no sign of Karma anywhere in the house, this wasn't all that uncommon an occurrence. It was just eerie that he'd decided to disappear again when he'd made his ongoing, daily presence known ever since she'd been brought back from Berlin.
What was odd however was the fact that the couch was missing. There was no sign of it anywhere, as if the damn piece of furniture had disappeared along with the pain in the ass who complained incessantly about its presence. Amaya did nothing more than shake her head in dismay as she went about her morning routine.
'Where the hell did that jerk go...?' Amaya couldn't help but mutter as she watched her siblings all disappear out the door, her brow furrowing as she resumed the dishes.
'Miss me already, did you?' Karma's voice responded smugly, earning a yelp from Amaya as she found herself whirling around on her feet.
An entirely blank expression was fixed upon her face the very instance she spotted him wandering out of the bathroom in just a pair of pants as he dried his hair off. Needless to say, she found herself immediately regretting the decision as a vivid blush began to creep across her face, and turned her head away immediately.
'Not in the least.' Amaya denied as she adamantly kept her gaze averted back towards the dishes.
'Really?' His response came with jesting effect. 'Your face is red.'
'So what?!'
He said nothing, though she heard the amused hum that escaped him as he seemed to appraise her rather tense form at the sink.
She found herself praying over and over again that he would go away, or at the very least pull on a shirt to spare her any further mishaps in composure. There was only so long she could actually clean in the kitchen to keep her gaze averted without it being extremely pitiful.
However, when it really did seem like he'd wandered off to do as she was inwardly pleading, a sudden chill tore right down Amaya's spine as she heard the floorboards right behind her creak ever so slightly.
All of a sudden the rather jarring sensation of tickling ripped through Amaya's sides as if she'd just been shocked. The instant and rather involuntary crumbling towards laughter however didn't take hold of her. Instead, a tearing pain as sharp as glass ripped straight through her fingers as she practically jumped from the fright.
Amaya immediately dropped the knife she had been washing and squeezed her hand shut tightly as she felt herself turn rigid there at the sink, much to the evil incarnates confusion.
'Great...' Amaya hissed beneath her breath as she stared down at the red taint slowly seeping into the sink water.
It was that moment where she heard an exasperated breath escape Karma as he peered over her shoulder.
'What did you do this time?' He questioned.
Without a word, she lifted her hand from the sink water and opened it to show the cuts across the inside of the first knuckles bleeding profusely, now that the pressure had been removed.
Immediately, she felt his hand close around her wrist as a scowl flashed across his features.
'How'd you manage to do that?'
'That was your fault, you jerk.' Amaya huffed bitterly as she fixed him with a glare. 'You're the one who attacked me while I was washing knives.'
He said nothing, though she'd felt his grip of her wrist twitch slightly as he dragged her away from the sink.
Interestingly enough, the evil incarnate was silent for the majority of the time he'd forced her to sit down so he could patch her hand up, and Amaya didn't dare argue her view that she was more than capable of doing that, herself. She was more annoyed at the fact that it was her dominant hand that was now wrapped in gauze and plaster patches.
Maybe she could get out of having to study because she couldn't write right now?
Though if he felt like it, Karma probably could find a hundred different ways to torture her with study. Not that he wasn't already torturing her to begin with.
'Are you done, yet?' Amaya demanded as she kept her gaze averted from the evil incarnate entirely.
'Impatient, are you?' He responded easily enough, though she could tell he was only half listening.
Amaya cast him a small glance before she settled with looking in completely the opposite direction once more.
'Stupid exhibitionist jerk...' She muttered beneath her breath.
'What was that, Amay?'
'I said nothing!' She quickly dismissed.
Thankfully, whether he decided not to interrogate her further or was lost in thought, he said nothing in response. In fact, it appeared very much like he honestly hadn't heard her cursing him, which was a blessing when she actually thought about it.
The walk up the mountainside was relatively quiet in comparison to usual, and not merely because of the redhead who'd been moderately silent after her accident with the knife. There was practically nobody around on the way, enough so where Amaya actually wondered if they were running late.
It turned out however that they weren't.
A small handful of their classmates were already in the classroom when they'd arrived, eight to be exact. Kurahashi, Kanzaki, Okuda, Hara, Takebayashi, Kayano, Itona and Hazama were all inside, all with the exception of blank-faced Itona were looking about as confused as Amaya. The absences were undoubtedly the cause for their confusion.
However, Amaya didn't have much of an opportunity to question what was going on.
The very second that Karma had slid the classroom door open to wander inside ahead of her, Koro-sensei practically appeared out of thin air right at the front of the classroom, drawing the attention of everyone present instantly.
'Excellent, everyone is accounted for.' Koro-sensei announced as he discarded the attendance file he'd obviously just flipped through. 'Amaya-san, inside please, and close the door.'
Well, somebody's impatient, aren't they?
Regardless, Amaya merely let out a breath and did as she was told for the most part.
'Umm, Koro-sensei, where is everyone?' Kurahashi spoke up curiously. 'I mean, you said everyone's accounted for, but the majority of everyone isn't even here.'
'Hmmmm, well, since there's few ways to explain it, I'll be blunt. Due to everyone currently absent participating in free-running after school yesterday afternoon, an incident occurred.' Koro-sensei responded as he motioned for everyone to stand in a line at the front of the classroom. 'To be quite frank, this incident has resulted in an elderly civilian being hospitalized because of this.'
At that remark, all Amaya could do was shake her head slightly, while a couple of the girls here let out rather horrified gasps.
Somebody got carried away and caused an accident, she guessed. And going by the look written across Karma's face, Amaya was fairly sure he'd come to the same conclusion.
Okajima was determined to have at least a few people follow him on his special training idea, after all.
There was no other reasonable or likely explanation.
'To be entirely fair, you all must be treated equally and share the responsibilities as well as the punishment. Therefore you will join everyone else in the ban on study and the community service to earn our inconvenienced friend's silence into the matter.' Koro-sensei continued once everyone had lined up just as he had wanted. 'Additionally, there is this as well. Please forgive me.'
Starting right with Amaya at the end of the line, the octopus wore a strangely apologetic form of his grin as he slapped a squidgy tentacle against the side of her face.
'Wh-what the hell?!' Amaya practically squeaked in fright as she backed away from the apologetic octopus who had shifted just a little along to stand in front of a rather bemused Karma.
'Please forgive me.' Koro-sensei repeated.
He then slapped Karma just the same, before moving onto Okuda next in line.
The slap didn't hurt in the least, but that didn't mean being gently slapped with a squidgy tentacle wasn't remotely disconcerting. In fact, it was a rather icky feeling that gave her the most unpleasant of goosebumps.
'Now that you're all up to date, please join the others at the Wakaba Park After School Nursery. It is quite a short walk away, which is why I neglected to inform you all what had happened ahead of time.' Koro-sensei began as he finished issuing squidgy slaps as punishment. 'If you are unfamiliar with the approximate location of the premises, Ritsu-san will be able to navigate for you. Please do your best, everyone!'
And then he vanished at mach-speed, leaving them with no recourse but to do as he instructed.
All Amaya could really do was mutter curses beneath her breath as they all trekked an undeniably short distance to where their two weeks "community service" was to take place.
The premises were a rather run-down single-level building in the middle of a poorly maintained block of land. Weathered signs gave the premises their aforementioned name, just as tattered as the building itself. The voices of children as young as five rung with remarkable volume throughout the premises, sign enough to Amaya that she wasn't going to enjoy this one bit.
Truth be told, she had little patience for overly young children who bare no actual relation to her.
'Oh! You guys!' Came Nakamura's voice over the rather quiet air, drawing Amaya's attention to the portion of their class who had been absent that morning standing out the side of the rickety old building.
They all looked rather apprehensive at the sight of the "uninvolved" turning up, as if they already realized that Koro-sensei's punishment also extended to everyone. Undoubtedly this was orchestrated with a deliberate guilt-trip to whip the offenders into shape.
Even though he was a decent teacher, Koro-sensei had to be one of the most manipulative people she had ever encountered.
There was some brief exchange in words that Amaya filtered out before one of the staff at this facility called everyone inside. The overall feel of the class was subdued and remorseful, while the redhead who hadn't exactly made a move to wander off remained more or less at her side looking about as bored as she did.
The interior of the building was a little less run-down than the exterior, though Amaya was quick to pick up on the smell of rotting wood seeping in. A rubber flooring in rather large squares of different colours, and a few low tables were distributed with children ranging from ages five through to twelve in the room.
'Everyone! Our principal has been injured and will be unable to work for a while.' The woman who had lead the class inside announced once everyone was standing at the front of the large makeshift classroom. 'In his place, these Onii-chans say they'll do anything for us!'
Amaya shot a sharp look at the woman at that last part of her announcement, all the while the majority of the children in the room let out a loud chorus of "O-kaaay!" in answer.
It was easy enough to say that, but Amaya grew up with a mischievous asshole who would have had a field day if he was given even a marginal piece of such power, so she wasn't impressed at all. She really didn't care what kind of deal Koro-sensei had made, or how this bullshit of joint-liability panned out. The very second somebody made some remotely unreasonable demand of her, she was going to go home.
That Octopus had better understand that, too.
An excited roar of children voices rocked the building as the bulk of them came charging towards the mostly silent group of teenagers standing at the front of the classroom. The dismay of quite a few people was obvious – Terasaka being bitten by a six-year-old, Hazama having her hair tugged at by a group of three children herself, and then there was poor Takebayashi, who Amaya actually felt rather sorry for, though she was quick to avert her gaze to the opposite side of the room.
He, while declaring that both the study ban and two weeks community service was nothing in exchange for protecting the bounty, had been the victim of two boy's mischief and ended up with his pants dropped at the very last second.
'So, what brings you people here?' Came the sudden demand of the eldest girl attending the school, catching the attention of the bulk of Class E who weren't already at the mercy of the other children. 'Barging in here with your large group, you guys can work off the oxygen you're taking up at least, right?'
The girl in mention was rather pale with pink hair cropped to her chin, and rather beady eyes. She was standing off to the side looking most unpleasant as she pulled a rather vicious sneer across her face as she glared at the group.
Unfortunately, instead of being remotely intimidated like the pinkette had wanted, all Amaya did was start laughing.
'Somebody's trying too hard.' Karma commented with a smirk.
'Ah, of course the two of you are more amused than anything else.' Nagisa muttered wryly as he glanced over.
'I'm sorry, I really can't help it.' Amaya apologized as she struggled to reign in her laughter. 'I don't think I've seen anyone fail so terribly at being remotely frightening.'
'Even you were more intimidating when you were mute.' Karma's amused remark was just loud enough so only she could hear.
'Probably because you hate being ignored more than anything else.' Amaya dismissed without a thought.
Oddly enough, he didn't say anything to that, though the sudden commotion unfolding ahead might have been the reason why.
A sudden crunch of snapping wood echoed through the room, mixing with a sudden yelp of pain as the pinkette went crashing through the floor. The broom she had apparently been wielding as a weapon at the time clattered to the floor as she grasped at her pained shin.
The girl was asking for it.
As Karma said, she was trying way too hard. So Amaya couldn't find it in herself to feel remotely sorry for her.
'Do you not do repairs?' Isogai asked from somewhere in the back. 'Because this building is pretty worn down.'
'We don't have the money.' A woman wryly replied. 'Because our Principal charges very little to take in any waitlist or truant child, he can't even hire the workers he needs, so he does most of the work himself.'
Well, that was usually the way of things, really.
Really, the more notable people always asking for money appeared to never really do anything with what they're given, while those in real need were always trying to do their best with whatever they had, and they were usually very quick to shrug off handouts and insist that they were definitely fine without it.
She felt like Isogai fit the latter category.
'Twenty nine people over two weeks, huh?' Maehara spoke up from a few feet away, earning Amaya's attention from the girl Nagisa was currently lifting out of the floor. 'Don't you think we can get a lot done?'
'We sure can.' Hara agreed.
'Alright guys, we'll split up and take care of things for that man.' Isogai announced as he began to take charge of the discussion. 'First we'll need to hold a strategy meeting.'
'We'll work off twice the cost of that old man's cracked bone!' Maehara agreed with a cheer.
'OI!' Amaya snapped as she rounded on the playboy, earning a rather startled look in response while the others seemed to quieten down in confusion. 'That could have been said with a lot more tact, you jerk!'
'Wha--'
'I agree entirely, Amaya-san.' Isogai said with a sigh. 'That was quite tactless.'
'How was that tactless?!' Maehara practically exclaimed, much to the overall amusement of the class. 'Maya-chan, you're supposed to be on my side!'
'Amay's never been on anyone's side.' Karma remarked smugly. 'Except for mine, of course.'
'WHAT?!'
'Don't worry, Maehara-kun, let's just move on and try to be a little more tactful in the future.' Hara tried to wave off the playboy's indignation.
'No I want answers! I've been betrayed!'
'You guys can discuss this later. We've got more important things to take care of, right now.' Nakamura snickered as she and a couple others proceeded to drag an obstinate Maehara out of the very building.
'I knew I should have stayed home...' Amaya muttered as she reluctantly followed everyone else outside.
Needless to say, Karma's snickering did not go unnoticed.
The discussions in essence were rather simple, and something that Amaya had already found herself expecting the end results of.
Over the next two weeks they were to work on renovating the building and its grounds, all while entertaining the children at the drop of a hat. This arrangement, while being something Amaya had expected to hear wasn't actually one that she wanted to hear. Since money was off the cards for obvious reasons, they would be sourcing the materials all on their own.
'We will use wood we can get from the mountain, since some of the trees along the trail really should be thinned out.' Isogai explained as he quickly wrote down on the papers he had in front of him. 'However beyond that, we'll need tools, other materials and undoubtedly some finishers so that it's a clean job. Does anyone have any idea how we can handle those last requirements?'
'I guess with tools, I can just sneak a few boxes of the older ones out of my dad's workshop.' Yoshida remarked casually from a few spots to Amaya's right in the back of the group. 'Terasaka, you've still got those rivet guns I lent to you a while ago, yeah?'
'Wherever Sabeji's gone and hid them.' Terasaka grunted in disinterest. 'If I see them, I'll bring 'em.'
Sabeji, huh?
Amaya's brow furrowed as she found herself wondering where she'd heard that name before.
'Good, considering the circumstances, I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say I'd rather not ask Karasuma-sensei for help on this.' Isogai responded, earning a brief nod from a few others. 'Then that leaves the remaining materials and finishes. I think we might have to pitch in and actually buy those, however. I expect it shouldn't be too steep a price for the lower grade finishes.'
Finishes, meaning paint and varnish, right?
At that thought, Amaya let out a small breath.
'You don't want to do that. It's expensive as hell to outfit a whole two-storey building top to bottom like you're all nominating to do.' Amaya remarked as she leaned back against the tree-stump she was seated in front of. 'And besides, the cheapest stuff will just start to weather and peel after a year with rowdy brats like the ones here. It's got to be done properly, otherwise they'll be back to square one within a few years.'
'You know a bit about renovation work, Amaya-san?' Yoshida asked curiously.
'Just general stuff, I guess.' Amaya dismissed. 'I've painted houses before.'
Oddly enough, most of Class E actually turned their heads to look at Amaya in disbelief at that remark.
'What?' She demanded.
'O-oh, sorry Amaya-san.' Nakamura spoke up sheepishly. 'We just presumed you wouldn't know anything about this stuff. I mean, you've always been kinda, well, terrible in pretty much everything except for getting into fights with people. Even P.E.'s kind of hit and miss.'
'Nakamura-san!' Isogai practically exclaimed in horror.
'What? I'm not meaning to be rude, but it's kinda the truth, isn't it?'
Amaya's brow furrowed greatly as she eyed the bulk of her sheepish classmates who didn't appear to disagree with Nakamura's rather blunt remark. Those that had never spent more than regimented class-time with her appeared to be in agreement with the depiction.
And it was insulting.
First that whole Okinawa fiasco, and now this? In spite of her knowing that it wasn't the case, in truth Amaya was starting to feel like they were actually being this thoughtless on purpose.
It felt like a familiar slap to the face.
'Great, thanks.' Amaya commented sourly as she picked herself up off the ground. 'You lot really have a talent for making people feel unwelcome, did you know that?'
'Amaya-san--'
'I'm not interested.'
'But we've still got--'
'Too bad.'
And without waiting to hear anything else anyone had to say, Amaya walked off before they had a chance. The evil incarnate that had been sitting nearby hadn't even made a move to stop her, nor did he even look at her. In fact, she was fairly sure he wasn't the least bit surprised by her reaction.
Undoubtedly, he knew she needed to be left alone to cool off, which she appreciated more than anything else.
Her walk was brisk as she left the premises of the run-down facility, her hands burying deep into the pockets of her pants as she glared ahead of her.
She had once wondered whether the less-familiar of her classmates just got carried away with their plans, carried away by an idea that consumed them. The sheer freedom this Assassination setup gave the students seemed particularly toxic to Amaya as she watched everyone from the sidelines.
The method of teaching in this Classroom was fine and all, but it honestly did feel like she was the only one who disliked just how clouded everyone's views were getting. Their boundaries were weakening and the lines they would normally not cross were blurred as they tiptoed along the edge. And because of that, it appeared they weren't bothering to "see" what their actions were even doing anymore.
'Amaya-san, would you please wait for just one moment?' Came a rather familiar voice all of a sudden, spoken from perhaps a few paces behind Amaya as she slowed to a halt. She turned her head to look to who she immediately knew was Koro-sensei, who was clad in his tried and true disguise of black wig and long-sleeved shirt beneath his teacher robes.
In truth, she wasn't the least bit surprised to see him there.
'What can I do for you, Sensei?' Amaya asked, not bothering to shake the curt tone that crept into her words.
The octopus appeared to pause for a second before he spoke.
'Could you forgive your classmates for the sake of this two weeks community service?' He asked.
'Not even if you paid me.' Amaya dismissed.
'I see.'
A frustrated breath escaped Amaya as she turned to face the octopus properly as she picked up on the rather calculating edge to the creatures gaze.
'Look, I understand you're trying to pull some guilt-trip thing here with everyone by dragging those who did no wrong down into the punishment with everyone else, I don't agree with the bullshit of--'
'Language, Amaya-san.'
'I'm trying to explain myself, damnit!' Amaya practically snapped.
Koro-sensei seemed to think on that for a second.
'You're right, I apologize.' He lifted a tentacle to motion her to continue. 'Please feel free to speak your mind.'
Stupid damn octopus...
'I'm going to disregard this whole joint-liability bullshit you've got going as a lesson, cause even though I accept it's what you've decided, I think its wrong.' Amaya huffed as she shifted her weight onto her right food. 'But even so, I'm not going to just forgive anyone for walking all over me after their actions ended up landing me in this punishment to begin with. I'm not a doormat. I'll serve my time on this unjust punishment, but I'm not going to decide that all's been forgiven, because as much as it disgusts me to think of it, not even the main campus students have spoken that rudely to me, nor have they called me useless.'
'Very well... when you put it like that, I can accept that.' Koro-sensei briefly nodded his head in agreement. 'Then at the very least, can I ask for your patience for the duration of the next two weeks?'
'I will be entirely civil as is required, but I won't talk about this on their terms, and just "I'm sorry" isn't going to be good enough.'
The octopus nodded in agreement once more.
'That is fine. Then Sensei will give Isogai-kun some instructions this evening.' Koro-sensei remarked as he began to forage through his pockets briefly. 'In the mean time, Sensei has one job for you today, and once that's done, you're free to head home for the day.'
'And what would that be?' Amaya muttered sourly.
'Here is a list of all the things Sensei would like you to pick up, who they will be given to, and the money for which you will be using.' Koro-sensei remarked with his grin broadening as he handed over a thick few pieces of paper and the aforementioned money. 'You will need to bring them back by 1pm in time for lunch.'
Ah, she was doing a lunch-run.
Fine, whatever. Amaya nodded her head slightly.
And with that, Koro-sensei vanished from sight, leaving Amaya to mull over her thoughts once more.
Upon returning to the run-down facility three hours later with boxes of pastries and sandwiches stacked up in her arms, Amaya had managed to vent some of her agitation just by walking without break throughout the city. Though she was still quite annoyed. Annoyed enough that she was considering wandering into certain areas to pick fights with the delinquents over there. The six catering boxes were rather light in comparison to all the shopping she lugged across the city in one trip, though it was tedious to see over.
Thankfully her cut fingers weren't causing her any trouble.
'Oh, Amaya-san!' Came the high-toned voice belonging to Kurahashi right as Amaya walked through the gate, and she along with Yada came walking briskly right up to her. 'Here, let us help you. That looks heavy!'
Huh, they were trying the overly helpful take to try and defuse her mood, were they? Forcing their help to try and make her feel better?
Well that wasn't going to help anything.
'No thank you, I don't want any help.' Amaya spoke as she forced the sweetest smile she had ever managed right across her face, startling both girls to silence as she swiftly marched right past them to head for the door.
They stood rooted to the spot with rather unnerved looks written across their faces.
The interior of the facility had been rearranged briefly, with the children attending the facility seated on the floor at the back of the room, with the front half emptied out to make room for what looked to be a play of some kind.
Kayano was dressed up like a princess, with Terasaka dressed up as a monster being held in a choke-hold by Karma clad in a knights outfit. She'd seen the redhead's gaze flick to her for just a brief moment as he slammed a fist right into the side of Terasaka's face.
'No no, Princess!! I told you, peace will not return to this Kingdom unless I exterminate this monster.' Karma recited a makeshift script as he punched Terasaka once more, causing Amaya to shake her head in minor dismay as she continued around the riveted children staring up at the performance.
Within a second, it sounded like Terasaka had managed to free himself from Karma's hold to start lashing back in retaliation.
A rather nervous looking Okuda dressed up in a witches outfit dashed right past Amaya towards the stage, though she did cast Amaya a brief smile as she passed by, sign enough that she wasn't nervous about Amaya being right there after her reaction that morning.
Amaya vaguely recalled that during that unpleasant situation, the bespectacled girl was shaking her head profusely as she looked pleadingly at her, as if pleading that she didn't agree with the declaration made.
Well, Okuda seemed to stand up for her more than the other girls in her own meek way, so Amaya was fine to wave it off as that.
'G-Go to sleep, Monster!' Okuda squeaked out as she rushed up behind an unsuspecting Terasaka to slap a cloth right over his face, causing him to go rigid in his movements.
And with every passing second between then and Terasaka's form crashing to the floor unconscious, Amaya's gaze darkened considerably.
'With the wizard's chloroform, the monster fell asleep, unhurt. All's well that ends well with the power of science!' Kayano announced as part-narrator, all the while a few of the more mischievous boys in the children group laughed at Terasaka's unconscious form. 'Okay everyone! Clap if you had fun!!'
What the hell was chloroform doing in a play?!
Even though Amaya understood the intent was just for theatrics, it scratched at the memories fresh in the back of her head.
'Yo, Amaya-san.' Came the vaguely familiar voice belonging to Yoshida, snapping Amaya's attention right form Terasaka's unconscious form in an instance. 'What's wrong? You look like someone just tried to pick a fight with you.'
'Nothing.' She dismissed quickly, though she nodded her head towards Terasaka for a second. 'He'll probably want some asprin and water when he wakes up.'
'Huh?' The motorcycle enthusiast seemed rather surprised by her remark. 'If you say so, but I think it's just weak chloroform, though.'
Great.
Of course her words wouldn't be taken seriously.
'Fine, whatever.' She dismissed with a small sigh as she pushed past to deposit the boxes onto the table in the second room.
'Ah, Amaya-san! There you are!' Came yet another voice calling out to her, though this time Amaya immediately recognized it – And it agitated her immensely. 'Wait right there, I want to talk to you!'
Amaya didn't bother to so much as spare a glance to the blond who'd called out to her, and instead just set the boxes down and walked right out of the building. A hat-less Okuda stepped out of the way for Amaya as she jumped down the steps of the building, watching as Amaya stalked right out of the premises.
'Oh, Okuda-chan, have you seen where Amaya-san went?' Nakamura's voice rung out through the area mere seconds later. 'She's gone and run off again.'
'I think she went out the back to help Maehara-kun carry some wood out back.' Came Okuda's rather nervous response.
'Ah, thanks Okuda-chan!'
And as Amaya marched herself well away from the facility to head wherever her feet would take her, she found herself deciding she would bring a snack back for Okuda in the morning.
She found herself missing those training sessions with Shigure more with every passing day, missing the opportunity to try and actually vent the frustration and anger that just seemed to be building up of late. She understood why they were of course dropped, but now more than anything she found herself missing them as the classroom antics grated on her more with every passing day.
She didn't think picking fights with delinquents was going to help too much if she used them as a venting opportunity too much.
And in fact, the city had been very quiet ever since she'd been kidnapped by that group giving Hayashi trouble.
As the minutes passed into hours, Amaya found herself still on this train of thought as she walked past a rather modest looking building down the shopping stretch she had found nearby the new house.
The sounds of feet pounding on the floor echoed from within, of padded strikes hitting sandbags with great force and speed. She eventually realized she was staring up in a gym tailored towards boxing and various martial arts, and as she glanced at the sign above the modest doorway at the front, she found herself practically scowling up at the name.
Tigers Fang Gym
Amaya thoroughly disapproved of the name of the premises, but a second look through the open doors gave her a rather positive feeling.
She decided to wander inside, and see what exactly was here.
After all, since apparently all she was good for was picking fights, she guessed there was nothing wrong with her expanding on her rather pitiful talent.

Sorry about the delay, I've been submitting chapters in the Omake book for both Halloween AND thanksgiving, so I've been delayed with this chapter. Anyways. Here it is, and I can promise you that I've already made a solid start on the next part. Because this was actually with a bit more on the end which is next chapter, I just decided to end it here because I felt this was cleaner.
Anyways, thanks for all your ongoing support, and of course heres our translation notes:
