Mario: Speed is a natural ability since the beginning of time and since then everyone has been pushing speed to its natural limits.

Mega Man: Or in this case beyond the limit no one has ever gone.

Mario: Sonic the Hedgehog, the Blue Blur.

Mega Man: And Rainbow Dash, the high speed Pegasus Pony. He's Mario and I'm Mega Man.

Mario: And it's our job to analyze their weapons armor and skills to find out who would win a Death Battle.

Mario: Somewhere out there, on a strange alternate version of Earth, humans coexist with anthropomorphic animals, but this world has been assailed over and over by the vile Dr. Ivo Robotnik, otherwise known as "Eggman."

Mega Man: Let me just say "Eggman" is probably the most dumbest name I've ever heard no wonder some people laugh.

Mario: But hope persisted. Whenever the Eggman hatched a scheme, one did not have to wait long for a certain blue streak to speed by. This was Sonic the Hedgehog.

Mega Man: Okay how does Sonic have similar abilities to you?

Mario: Well Sonic and I had a heated rivalry back in the 90s but we eventually had a great relationship with one another years after that and we had crossovers with one another like the Olympics.

Mega Man: Than why are your fans still making you two fight to the death.

Mario: Because it's all for to see who's better but Sonic and I have been working together in recent years and only fight just for a friendly competition but we're not fighting each other unless if it's Smash or Olympics so all those Mario vs Sonic debates to all that stuff we don't give a f(beep).

Mega Man: Moving on. To stop Eggman from turning all his animal pals into batteries, Sonic cranked up that speed, and weaponized it! He can crush his enemies with the Spin Attack, strike multiple times with the Homing Attack, go zero to sonic boom instantly with the Super Peel Out, and plow through hordes of Badniks with the Spin Dash. And he doesn't get dizzy. Wow.

Mario: Sonic also can do abilities like Ground Pound just like me, can do a Light Speed Dash, create a vortex with Sonic Wind, send enemies flying in the air by making a tornado, and do a boost which makes him go faster even fast enough to run on water.

Mega Man: Our boi pretty much gets faster every second.

Mario: Just like me, Sonic has carried many power ups over the years like Elemental shields they serve as Sonic's protection though they will disappear after blocking a fatal blow. The Flame Shield can do a mid air dash attack on, enemies protect him from all matters of heat like multiple enemy attacks, oh and he can walk on lava but it can't survive underwater.

Mega Man: The Thunder Shield protects him from any electrical attacks during can stick to magnetic grounds.

Mario: The Aqua Shield is especially useful, as it grants him an incredibly high bouncing jump, and protection against water. Why do we keep mentioning water you may ask? Because he can't swim.

Mega Man: (plugs his ears) Grrrr, For God's sake, Sonic please take some swimming classes already because we all do not wanna hear that screeching music.

Mega Man: (sighs in relief) Finally.

Mario: My blue friend/rival can also boost at high speeds with the Gold Shield and the Invincibility Shield which is basically like my Starman can make him completely invincible....for a short time.

Mega Man: Not only do you guys have similar abilities but also similar Power Ups.

Mario: The blue hedgehog can also gain abilities from small alien beings called "Wisps."

Mega Man: Those things can turn him into a fireball, a yellow drill, a black hole, a cyan laser, a bolt of lightning, a orange rocket, a people music note, a blue cube, a bunch of stuff really. Even a demonic Hungry Hungry Hippo. And they all become more powerful with all of them together.

Mario: But before we delve any further, there is something vital which we need to discuss. It's time to figure out Sonic's speed.

Mega Man: Oh man here we go.

Mario: Okay so Sonic stated that he's faster than light and according to Death Battle he has yet to prove this in canon without the aid of equipment or power ups.

Mega Man: Yeah they also said that Sonic can't reach the speed of light without the Light Speed Attack.

Mario: Exactly. But his best record comes from Sonic Unleashed. In that game Sonic's Light Speed Attack is scene clocking in at 390 SPD. Sonic's max speed in game measurement is clocked in at 3,519 SPD by dividing 390 and 3,519 together gives him 9.02 this means that Sonic's highest recording speed is 6,035,549,661 miles per hour.

Mega Man: That's over 9x the speed of light. Damn Sonic really did prove that he is faster than light in canon. So is that it?

Quick heads up: According to a Death Battle debunk I did on my Random Book he says that Sonic at best can go at 9x the speed of light something that I used to believe what's not true but looking at it now I released that Death Battle messed up on Sonic's speed so let's hope they release their mistake. The same can also be said about Super Sonic being near light speed with using Smash as evidence.

Mario: Well not really because this isn't really his top speed because Sonic is likely even faster than that. Because Sonic can dodge meteors, lasers, and lightning which makes his reaction speed faster than light as well

Mega Man: What about that time he caught up to a Cyan Wisp? He did said that he's is almost as fast as him even without his laser form.

Mario: That's right, the laser is a power it grants Sonic, not itself. Still, Wisps are incredibly fast. At one point, a group of them flew from Earth's surface to a black hole in orbit in the twenty seconds Sonic and Tails were talking. By measuring the planet's curve here, we can find that the Wisp alien's must've been moving at Mach 209. Since Sonic is faster than them this grants him more reaction feats.

Mega Man: Can you explain to me how Sonic outran that "black hole" again?

Mario: Its presence near Sonic does emulate that of a singularity, and Sonic actually outran its pull for thirty seconds. Due to chaotic accretion, black holes pull non-orbiting mass inward at thirty percent the speed of light. Sonic's clearly pushing his running speed to its limit here, or else the black hole wouldn't have pulled him in. With this in mind, it's entirely possible that, without additional support, Sonic's maximum possible running speed must be around two hundred million miles per hour.

Mega Man: So If Sonic is nine times light speed than how come he wasn't fast to outrun the black hole.

Mario: Well Sonic didn't have enough footing to run on so that's why he couldn't move that fast.

Mario: After the emeralds received a boost from the Master Emerald, Sonic could achieve his ultimate form Hyper Sonic.

Mega Man: He's got all the abilities of Super Sonic, plus total invincibility, and a Hyper Flash that insta-kills everything around him, oh, and hey not only is much faster but has infinite speed

Quick heads up: According to the Sonic wiki Hyper Sonic does have infinite speed so he's THAT fast in that form.

Mario: Unfortunately good things don't last long, without enough rings or enough power inside these super forms can't stick around for at least a minute.

Quick heads up: Technology Super Sonic lasted for days in his super form in Sonic Advance 2 and it's never stated to have to have a time limit in game canon implying that the 50 second ring count is only a gaming mechanic. Also Hyper Sonic will NOT used in this fight despite it being mentioned in this analysis.

Mega Man: Sonic has resisted mind control from the Overmind, survived reentry from orbit, and blasted apart a mountain, this would need more than two hundred tons of TNT to pull off, and while fighting his evil robo copy Metal Sonic, they shattered this enormous stalactite! Holy sh(beep), just look at the size of it!

Mario: By comparing it to the buildings in this city, and applying the density of granite, the most common rock in continental crust, we've found that this stalactite must way almost forty seven million tons, which means a break like this would need a force of almost two hundred kilotons of TNT.

Mega Man: But while in his Super Sonic form he can fly to the moon in 5 seconds! If you don't believe me as Tails he was there when it happened!

Mario: Super Sonic flew to the moon from the X-Zone. The X-Zone was in the same area as the Exosphere the same area where people have satellites all over the world since Sonic's world is nearly based on Phoenix's world than we can assume that the satellites are at that range. The distance form the X-Zone to the moon is roughly around 232,700 miles and Sonic was able to reach to the moon in 5 seconds. In order to do this he must be traveling at 135,650,000 miles per hour that's 0.2 times the speed of light which is less than a second and Sonic's super form is much faster than his base form this means that Super Sonic's best top speed is calculated at 139,835,520,000,000 miles per hour.

Quick heads up: Super Sonic has many potential abilities to be a planet buster the reason why I say this is because the Chaos Emeralds were used to destroy half of the moon in Sonic Adventure 2. Further evidence is how in the Sonic Unleashed opening when Eggman used the Chaos Emeralds to break the Earth in pieces to awakening Dark Gaia who was able to cover up the entire planet. Plus in Sonic X Super Sonic was able to destroy a planet which he later survived the planet exploding so it's easy to say Super Sonic is a planet buster even if we half the planet destruction because he had help from Super Shadow it still won't change anything as Adventure 2 and Unleashed proves my point.

Mega Man: Dang he's THAT fast in his super form? That's even faster than when people on that Earth tries to fly to the moon which usual takes a few hours or 3 days to get to the moon. Okay he definitely has what it takes to save the world from a mad scientist. Even though he has his downfalls.

Mega Man: All of the animals can rest easy when Sega's Anthropomorphic Hedgehog is around to save the day.

Mario: Imagine a world where ponies have wings, where unicorns exist doing magic or a unicorn with wings all living together in peace and harmony. This is the peaceful land of Ponyville.

Mega Man: Yeah I know what you're thinking it's kinda okay isn't it? Except it looks really weird especially since some of these ponies are weird.

Mario: But despite all that there is actually a lot of good that comes with it. For example there is one pony who is the one of the most awesomest of the all.

Mega Man: The one pony with wings who is the fastest one around. Rainbow Dash!

Mega Man: Interesting the one and only Sonic Rainboom! This increases her speed and moves Dash up to Mach 10 and leaves behind a trial of rainbow. Whoa now that's insane and awesome.

Mario: With this, her speed doubles usually to Mach 10 however the resulting sonic boom completely shatters the visible light spectrum. The shockwave from the impact can be comparable to a nuclear warhead. And with this Rainbow Dash has been through thick and thin.

Mega Man: Think that's cool. Well you should see her flying in circles around lightning coming in the sky and it was stated that she was Mach 5. She can even survive being struck by lightning. Wow what is it with this pony in lightning

Mario: According to this comic page I found by comparing the distance between the lightning and from what speeds Rainbow had to move this puts her best top speed well at 319,878,720 miles per hour plus giving her lightning reaction speeds. We can even support this by scaling to her arch-rival Lightning Dust who should move faster than the speed of lightning.

Mega Man: Even better her Sonic Rainboom can go even faster than that. Because it does double her speed after all.

Mario: Right. As I've said before the result of using this technique completely shatters the visible light spectrum. The light spectrum is part of the Electromagnetic spectrum which travels roughly at 300,000,000 meters per second. This must mean that Rainbow with the Sonic Rainboom can move well over 670,080,888 miles per hour that's roughly clearing the speed of light and is basically slightly faster than it too.

Mega Man: Yeah she's cool and all but even she has some downsides.

Mega Man: So long as Rainbow Dash is flying high in the sky, it's nearly impossible for anyone to keep up with this badass pony.

Rainbow Dash: Here we go!

Mario: Alright the combatants are set and we've run the data on all possibilities.

Mega Man: It's time for a DEATH BATTLE!

Blue Speedsters

In a peaceful forest Sonic the Hedgehog is seen sitting under a tree eating a chilly dog.

Sonic: Yummy.

Meanwhile in the sky Rainbow Dash is seen flying by as she notices the blue hedgehog.

Rainbow Dash: Who's this guy?

Just then they hear a loud chirping sound as it turns out it's a bird who's on top of a large tree and it's wing is stuck against a big rock unable to fly.

Sonic: Oh no.

Rainbow Dash: That's not good.

The two combatants race off to the birds location and gets ready to be The the hero.

Both: Don't worry! I AM HERE!!

As they say it Dash attempts to prevent Sonic from getting in the way.

Rainbow Dash: Sorry pal but I'll handle this in a flash.

Sonic laughs and responds by saying.

Sonic: Uh I'm sorry I think you're mistaken. You're talking to the Fastest Thing Alive.

Rainbow Dash: Fastest? Last I checked I was the fastest!

As she says this the two began to growl.

Rainbow Dash: Okay let's have a race to see who's the fastest!

Sonic: I attempted your challenge bring it on!

The two speedsters sped off and race all over the forest.

Sonic: I won't lose this thing! That's a promise!

Rainbow Dash: Not bad but theirs no way you're gonna defeat me!

Sonic and Rainbow both speed across several mountains far away from the forest the battle started at and clashed with each other with their heads. Once they do this they send each other flying on opposite sides.

The speedsters still continued to race from all over the land. As it happens the trade blows. Sonic attempts to do a down axe kick

Sonic: Take this!

However Rainbow catches his leg.

Rainbow Dash: Nice trick my turn!

The pony does a Super Mario 64 style spin and hurls the hedgehog skywards, and flys up to throw two kicks at Sonic a distance even further however Sonic manages to land on his feet and recovers and continues running with RD catching up to him.

Rainbow Dash: Not bad. But I'll show you what I'm made of!

Dash flys in the air and in circles around Sonic and makes a huge rainbow tornado that sucks him up, then pummels the helpless Sonic in midair.

Rainbow Dash: How's it feel to lose, chump?

Rainbow Dash flies towards Sonic and attempts to throw another strike. Unfortunately it ended in vain as the speedy hedgehog dodges the pegasus pony's attack and lands on the ground.

Sonic: Let's turn this around!

Sonic starts running in circles around the opposite direction reversing (and reddening) the tornado turning it from rainbow to blue. Rainbow gets sucked up by the tornado.

Rainbow Dash: Agh! What? No way!

Sonic jumps in the air and homing attacks his foe to speed blitz her and send her flying out of the cyclone. With both animal speedsters out airborne the fall straight towards the ocean where Dash punches Sonic straight towards the water and recovers and flys straight afterwards.

Rainbow Dash: Hmph, what a loser!

However the pony hears a familiar voice.

Sonic: Hey there!

Sonic jumps out of the water with his bubble shield and runs on water and gives his opponent the middle finger.

Sonic: You're too slow!

Sonic laughs and runs off ahead of Rainbow angering the Element of Loyalty who speeds off to catch the Blue Blur.

The blue speedsters than race towards a forest of mountains where Rainbow Dash attempts to hit Sonic with lightning she uses from the clouds but Sega's mascot dodges with ease. The two meet in the air and clash once again and is flown backwards. Rainbow decides that she's had enough.

Rainbow Dash: That's it! I'm done playing your games! Time to end this!

Rainbow grabs Sonic and punches him straight through mountains creating holes from each impact. Dash then throws Sonic at a large mountain at high speeds. Sonic crashes on the mountain top and slowly recovers.

Sonic: Jeez that hurts.

Unfortunately Sonic is unable to get back into battle as he was now staring in horror at the fist of his screaming, soaring opponent. The collision course is brightly visible from a distance and no sooner, the entire mountain blew up into chunks.

Rainbow looks down the remains of the mountain and sees Sonic underneath the chunks of it unconscious. Rainbow then taunts at him while he's down because she won as the pony starts celebrating her victory.

Rainbow Dash: Wahoo! Oh yeah! Who's the Fastest Thing Alive now, huh? Oh yeah it's me!! Sucker.

(*music stops.*)

RD turns around but before she could fly away she hears a familiar voice. As she turns to see that Sonic is still alive.

Sonic: No... I am the Fastest Thing Alive....

As he says this Sonic prepares to use one last trick up his sleeve.

Sonic: And I'll prove it to you... Super Sonic style!

(*music resumes.*)

With the seven Chaos Emeralds a golden beam into the sky which is powerful enough to blow Rainbow Dash away. The Pegasus Pony halts her ground and takes a moment to behold her foe. Sonic emerges from the beam now transformed into Super Sonic.

Rainbow Dash: Still more...? Bring it on!

Super Sonic and Rainbow Dash starts charging at each other.

Super Sonic: Now I'll show you!

They begin charging at each other with all their might as Rainbow prepares to use one last move.

Rainbow Dash: Time to end this! SONIC RAINBOOOOOM!!!!!

As she says this Rainbow uses the Sonic Rainboom causing a rainbow shockwave from it along with a rainbow trail. The two start repeatedly clash attacks before charging at each other at full speeds as the camera cuts to the two of them yelling at the top of their lungs. The two clash with their most powerful attacks but ultimately, Super Sonic wins the clash by using a Spin Dash and hits Rainbow and sawing through her chest making her scream. He then crashes her into the ground, killing her this attack also results in a giant explosion, ensuring the hedgehog a well earned victory. When the dust settles, Super Sonic jumps out of the explosion and turns back into his base form and lands in front of his now-deceased foe, who lost her wings that got disintegrated from the impact. Sonic let's out remark.

Sonic: Like I told you from the beginning. I am the Fastest Thing Alive.

Sonic then runs off as he says this.

KO!

Sonic runs back to the forest and says the bird while the Mane Six mourn over Rainbow Dash's corpse.

Mega Man: Now that's what I call a death race!

Mario: As fast as Rainbow Dash is Sonic is just..... much MUCH faster.

Mega Man: Rainbow moving faster than the speed of lightning is great in all but Sonic has already gone 9 times faster than the speed of light.

Mario: This means that Sonic would well be over 18 times faster than Dash.

Mega Man: Speed wasn't the only Sonic outclassed her in.

Mario: Their Top strength feats paint this picture very VERY clearly.

Mega Man: One guy can break the weather (Rainbow Dash), the other guy can break a planet (Sonic), So in terms of strength there's no contest. But Rainbow can just use the environment to her advantage, sure but Sonic has more options for almost anything RD can throw at him giving the Blue Blur more chances of winning a deadly blow.

Quick heads up: Sonic in base can scale to Zavok who is stronger thanks to absorbing energy from a planet. He was also able to take a hit from him as well.

Mario: Plus Sonic has a high arsenal of power ups giving her multiple options to overpower Rainbow. For example he could suck her into a black. (Uses a remote to summon a black hole to make Mega Man run For it.)

Mega Man: Whoa what the heck?!

Mario: (Discards the black hole) or even turn her into rings (turns Mega Man into rings.) His arsenal will outlast anything Rainbow can do even without them he's still tough enough to tank anything she can even throw at him. (Turns Mega Man back to normal.)

Mega Man: (sighs) Finally know don't do that again.

Mario: Speaking of which Sonic's durability blew Rainbow's out of the water. Sonic surviving planet level attacks is much greater than what Dash has had to deal with. Even if we scale her to Twilight who survived crashing into a mountain it wouldn't make any difference. It should also be noted that she shielded herself from the impact.

Mega Man: Yeah Sonic is just too tough for her.

Mario: Plus while Rainbow's Sonic Rainboom can go at the speed of light Sonic's super form can go over 200,000 (208,684) times faster.

Mega Man: Oh ye-ye-ye-yeah I doubt Dash with the Sonic Rainboom has anything to top that. Even if we  compare it to Sonic's base form that's still 9 times faster the the sonic boom.

Mario: Likewise Rainbow has never shown any kinds of feats that Sonic has.

Mega Man: RD had the upper hand with flight and maneuverability but when you're fighting someone who is WAY faster than you theirs nothing you could do.

Mario: Rainbow was fast in her own right but ultimately Sonic's superior speed, durability, strength, and verity arsenal were the tools needed to win this race to the death.

Mega Man: Looks like Rainbow Dash was too slow in this Sonic race.

Mario: The winner is Sonic the Hedgehog.
