Stuck in the Airport - "Can I use your charger?"
Word Count: 1601
****************************************

I stepped off the plane walkway into the airport terminal, tightening my jacket once the cold New York air swept past me.

I was so excited to spend my Christmas vacation in warm Florida instead of freezing cold New England. JFK international airport was just one step closer to warmth.

My eyes scanned the sign hanging from the ceiling to find out where I need to go. That's when I realize I need to go out of security in order to get to the correct terminal I needed.

An aggravated groan escapes my mouth as I started pulling my carry on behind me.

I walked out of some double doors and was now out of security. Slowly, making my way to the security check point I'm supposed to go through, I start hear girls screaming.

They didn't seem like they were out of fear. I decide to make a detour and go to check to see what was going on.

I walk into the main airport lobby to see about hundred girls huddled together, possibly surrounding something or someone.

I turn to one of the airline workers at one of the check in stations and asked her what's going on.

"Some social media star showed up, and I guess a lot of the girls like whoever it is," she says, slightly annoyed that I disrupted her work.

I scoff and walk closer to see who it is. That's when I see him. Mario Selman. I've seen a couple of his musicallys and seen a few videos of him singing and playing the piano. He was talented.

I wasn't crazy about him like the rest of these girls but it was still interesting that he was here at the same time I was.

Realization hit me. If everyone is here, then that means there's going to be like no one in line at the security checkpoint!

I rush over to the checkpoint and sure enough in a minute I had made it through without a hitch. I head towards my gate looking at all the shops and restaurants in the terminal in case I wanted to check any of them out later.

Once I reach my gate, which was already pretty packed, I sit down and watch the TV with the news on it.

"Biggest blizzard since 1934. Almost all flights coming out of the Northeast have be delayed or even canceled. Drivers are being told to stay off the roads, and that everyone just stay safely in their homes until the storm calms down."

I look out the large glass windows to see the snow still coming down hard on the runways. Crews were out there trying to clear the runways off but it was useless.

I sigh and take out my laptop and start working on some school work. I just had midterms and now my teachers want me to do homework during Christmas. Oh, the joys of being a college student.

-

"Flight canceled" was flashing on the screen where it said information about the flight. Everyone was lining up to complain including Mario and his family, who conveniently were on the same flight as me.

I close my laptop and put it back into my bag. I get in line just like everyone else. Once I reached the front of the line I leaned against the counter my elbow, clutching onto all my travel papers in one of my hands as I tapped the counter with the other.

The lady that was supposed to be helping me was busy talking on the phone. The second lady was trying to help out another family with no success.

I turn my head to see that it's Mario's family and he's standing right next to me. I snap my head back so that I'm looking forward at "my" lady.

I close my eyes, praying that he didn't notice. After a couple seconds I, reluctantly, open my eyes and let out a small breath.

The lady turned towards me."How can I help you?" I give her a "really?" look. "I was just wondering when the next flight was," I say politely, trying to stay calm. "Yes, let me see," she says typing on her computer.

"The next flight to Miami is in... four days."

"I'm sorry, what?" I say.

"Unfortunately due to the harsh weather conditions there will be no flights for the next couple days."

"But Christmas will be over by then," I point out like it's obvious.

"I'm sorry, but that's all we can do." She says with a frown.

"Okay, can you at least get me a hotel room to stay in?" I ask.

"No, actually none of us are supposed to leave the airport. It's too treacherous. That's what the call I just took was about," she says.

"Well, thank you anyway," I say, bummed out. I turn around to see my seat taken. I let out a breath and find a spot against the wall. I take out my phone to tell my mom about the bad news.

-

He was sitting right across from me in one of the chairs. I keep looking around but my eyes always seem to land on him. I feel like he's caught me staring multiple times, but I can't help it.

Frustrated, I open my laptop and trying to continue my homework assignments. I take out my charger and plug my computer in.

After an hour goes by someone stops in front of me. I look up and he was there holding what I assumed was his computer.

"Can I use your charger?" He asks, referring to my laptop charger.

"Sure," I reply, beginning to unplug my computer.

"Can I ask you something?" He asks, sitting down next to me.

"I think you just did," I say, smiling at my own joke. He lightly chuckles.

"You knew who I was, so why didn't you come up to me?" He asks, curiously.

My staring must have been obvious.

"I don't know," I look at my computer screen,"I just thought you wouldn't want to be bothered."

"Oh," is all he says. He plugs in his computer.

We've been just sitting next to each other working on stuff on our computers. Occasionally I would look over and see what he was doing. Editing a video. I was making no progress on my term paper, because of this distraction.

Since I hadn't eaten for a while, I decided to go get something. If I'm going to be trapped here I might as well eat as much food as I can.

I turn towards Mario. "Could you watch my stuff?" I ask him. He nodded his head. "Sure," he says. I look him in the eyes. He hasn't given me anything to signify that he is untrustworthy, though he hasn't really given me a sign that he isn't.

I nod my head, finally deciding on trusting him. I walk down the halls the airport and stumbled upon a Dunkin' Donuts. I waited the short line and ordered some doughnuts.

When I came back to my spot all my things were still there, and Mario hadn't moved from his spot. Once I sat down, I opened the bag. Even though I wasn't directly looking at him, I could tell Mario was eying my food.

"Do you want one?" I ask, unsure if this was the right thing to do. He waits a second, debating the idea in his head. "Yes," is all he says and he grabs the bag out of my hands and pull a doughnut out, the holiday special one. I start to pout as he takes a bite.

"I wanted the holiday one," I say, semi-fake whining, "I've never had one of those before." He laughs while he tries to eat. "You should have thought about that before you offered," he states. I can't argue with that.

I take out the plain glazed doughnut and look at it for a second."You know," I say turning my attention towards Mario, "you really shouldn't accept food from strangers." He stops eating and looks at me.

After a few seconds he shrugs his shoulders and continues eating. "And you shouldn't let strangers borrow your computer charger," he shoots back. "Touché," I say. We both laugh. "To being stuck in the airport," he says, holding up his half eaten doughnut. "To being stuck in the airport," I repeat, holding out my doughnut. A wide smile appears on both of our faces.

(A/N: I think I might do some of these short fanfics that only have a couple parts to them. For example, this would be one part of this story that I have, but I don't have enough content to make it into its own book.

I would also like to thank all of you for getting this book to 2000 reads!🎉

Honestly, knowing that some people can connect with my work or enjoy it at any level, is such an amazing feeling.

Thank you for taking your time to read my imagines/fanfics, and I promise I will get better as continue to write.

Don't forget to leave comments telling me what you would like to see in the future of this book, and don't forget to comment any requests or anything else like that.

Also feel free to PM whenever you want. I do have school but I would more than happy to help you with anything you need during my free time.

Love you all💙)
