One day, Mario,Luigi, Sonic and Goku went for a walk in the woods because they were really bored and Mario suggested they should go at least to alleviate their boredom.

" see ,isn't this interesting ?", Mario said.

"No, can we go home ?", Sonic replied

Mario replied" let's walk a bit more so we can at least be active. Even if we go home you'll just be on the couch complaining you're bored".

All of a sudden a weird creature appeared in front of them. It was a pokemon known as "rattata". The small pokemon makes noise since it was startled by the group and it frightens luigi and makes Mario carry him bridal style.  A ball  was soon thrown at the pokemon which opened and trapped the pokemon inside. Sonic then spots a man responsible for that.

"hey!, why did you imprison it?" The blue blur questions.

" Yeah, it wasn't  hurting anybody"  Goku concluded.

" I wasn't imprisoning it. I'm rather capturing it" the man said.

" isn't that the same thing?" Sonic asked.

"Well yeah, but you don't understand. I'm capturing it to complete my research." The man said.

"Research ?", "who are you", Mario asked.

" Allow me to introduced myself. My name is professor Willow, I'm a pokemon researcher." Exclaimed  Prof. Willow.

" pokemon researcher ??", Goku asked.

" What's a pokemon??", Mario asked curiously.

"  You saw that creature a caught earlier?, that's a pokemon. They're creatures that harness special abilities and they can be found on every corner of the earth. They can be found in grasslands,caves,seas, mountains and even in the sky. To people they are  companions and battle partners" Prof. Willow explained .

" wait..Do you mean you can use a pokemon to battle another pokemon? " Goku asked.

" Yes ", Prof.willow answers." It's called pokemon battles. I can see you guys want a pokemon don't you?". The pokemon researcher asked happily.

"Yes!!" Everybody said.

" Ok follow me to my lab, I have some pokemons I can give to you."

Sonic,Mario, Luigi and Goku followed the Professor to his lab.

At Professor Willow's lab......

" when I was young, I used to have a lot of pokemon, now these are the only ones I have left. But before I can give them to you, can I know your names?", the professor asked.

" its a me Mario", Mario said using his classic way of introducing himself to people." This blue hedgehog is Sonic, the one with the green clothes is Luigi, my brother, and this guy is Goku. 

" oh Ok,  nice to meet you all", the professor said." Now Mario which Pokemon do you like?, froakie?, charmander?, treecko? , pikachu ?  or machop ?"the professor asked.

Mario then looks at each pokemon seen on the computer screen on the wall. He then decided which pokemon he wants." I want the charmander" the red plumber answers.

" Good choice. What about you Sonic ?"

The blue hedgehog also thinks and decides the pokemon he wants.

" I think...............alright the froakie. ", Sonic answers.

" Ok, and you luigi?"

" I want the pikachu",luigi says.

" And you Goku?"

"Hmmm............. I want......that Machop", Goku says.

The professor then gives them the pokeballs in which the pokemon are in.

"You guys have chosen strong pokemon. Every pokemon has its type. In total, there are 18 different pokemon types which are; water,grass,fire,electric, ground,flying, fight,psychic,rock, poison, ghost,dark, steel,bug,ice,normal,fairy and dragon types.

"So which type is this charmander?" Mario said.

"You guys have a lot to learn, your charmander is a fire type . like all living things, Pokemon types have advantages and disadvantages as well. Your charmander is strong against the grass type but weak against the water, rock and ground type.  Sonic, your froakie  is a water type".

" A water type?", Sonic said.

"Water pokemon are stronger than fire, rock and ground type but weak against grass and electric. Luigi, your pikachu is an electric pokemon, strong against water and weak against rock and ground. And Goku,  your machop is a fighting type pokemon, stronger against normal types but weak against psychic and flying."

Mario" Is there anything else?"

" Yes, but there's a lot of things you still need to now about pokemon. You must treat them with kindness and believe in it if you're using it in battle. You must also train it to make it stronger but don't overdo it else it'll ignore you when battling.

The professor then gives the four 5 pokeballs each." Here are your pokeballs " ,the professor said. "They are tools used to catch wild pokemon , but be careful, you must weaken a wild pokemon in order to catch it, a healthy one can break free from the pokeball  and flee so you have to be lucky. You can't catch a pokemon that belong to someone else. Here are your pokedex too.

The professor then goes to his table and gives each of them a pokedex.

" It's an encyclopedia device that gives you information on any pokemon. But I must tell you, you have to catch a pokemon to get detailed information. We have common and rare pokemon. You can get the rare ones  but you have to search really hard. That's what a pokemon trainer does.

The four give Prof.willow a what-is that? Look.

"What's a pokemon trainer?", Goku asked.

"A pokemon trainer is a person who catches pokemon and uses it in battle. A trainer's main aim is to defeat 8 gym leaders, collect their  badges and go to the pokemon league.

"What's a pokemon league ?" Sonic asks.

" A pokemon league is a battle tournament. You can become the "pokemon  league champion" if you defeat the "elite four". The elite four are powerful trainers and if you lose to one of them you have to start all over again. The elite four are stronger than any gym leader. You need a badge to show that you've  beaten  a particular gym leader".

" What about pokemon battles?" Mario said.

"A pokemon battle is when two pokemon fight using moves. You can win a pokemon battle when all your opponent's pokemon faints." The professor replied.

Professor Willow also explains to them about stats. Which are the attack, defence, speed, sp.attack,  sp.defence. He also tells them about status problem which are burn, paralysis, frozen, poison and confusion.

"Thanks professor, is there one more thing we should know?", said Goku.

"When you make your pokemon stronger it grows and it changes its  shape, size,color, appearance and even type. This process is called" evolution". Some pokemon can evolve once or twice. But if you find a rare Stone called "mega stones" You can make your pokemon evolve even further temporarily through a process called
" mega evolution".

"Cool!", the four said.

" I've told you a lot of things about pokemon. Mario, Sonic, why don't you battle your pokemon to see what I mean about pokemon battles.

Outside............

Prof.willow explains to them about pokemon moves and gives the four a book with a list of all pokemon moves and and shows them which pokemon can use it. After 30 minutes of reading it, Mario and Sonic were ready to start their first pokemon battle.

"To release your pokemon throw the pokeball in the air" Prof. willow says.

"Ok" Sonic replies before throwing his pokeball into the air and a froakie  burst out of the pokeball and lands in front of Sonic.

Mario does the same thing and a charmander appears in front of him.

"To fight you have to command your pokemon by saying the moves I taught you earlier. There are some moves it can use only if it evolved and there are some moves it can't learn.

" ok" Said Mario and with that said, their pokemon battle starts.

" charmander, ember!" Mario says and charmander obeys shooting small fire from its mouth at froakie.  Sonic tells froakie  to dodge and it dodges." Use water gun" Said Sonic and froakie shoots out water at charmander, making it fall down.

"Charmander!, but how?"said Mario  who looked worried.

"Didn't I tell you pokemon have type disadvantages? Said Prof. Willow , your charmander is a fire type and froakie is a water type. Water type are stronger than the fire type but weak against grass and electric type."

"Ok, so it's like a rock- paper - scissors. Alright" said Mario.

Mario's charmander gets up and Mario tells it to use "scratch".the red flame pokemon ran and scratched froakie in return it uses "bubble" after it was commanded to do it by Sonic. Charmander was then commanded to use "ember" but froakie uses "bubble" to block charmander's ember attack. Mario commands charmander to use "growl " causing froakie to shake a little bit.

" What's happening? ", Sonic said.

"Charmander's growl has reduced froakie's attack stat.

"Nice", Mario said happily." Use growl but this time make it a bit louder!!"

Charmander then growls louder.

"Hmph!, think I 'll  allow you to weaken him?...froakie use water gun."

Froakie then uses water gun and it's very effective on on charmander. Sonic tells froakie to repeat the move and make it stronger,froakie obeys and does it again and charmander takes damage and it faints.

"Good job Sonic!" The professor congradulates." You've won, remember, to win tough battles make your pokemon stronger."

"So I lost?", the red plumber says somehow disappointed."eh...it's ok , I'll make my charmander stronger and evolve it.

" Me too", Sonic says.

After that the group go inside the lab to  talk about something.
