Marichat May Day 21: Prompt: Cold Night
It was a cold night, and Marinette was sitting outside with a blanket draped around her.
"Now what is someone like you doing out on this cold night?"
Lazily, Marinette shrugged. "I like the city at night."
"You're going to get sick."
Marinette shrugged again. "It wouldn't be the first time. You wanna sit with me? I have an extra blanket."
Chat Noir jumped next to Marinette's lawn chair and grabbed the extra blanket that was folded neatly next to it. "What are you thinking about?" He said once he was wrapped completely in the blanket.
"Nothing, really. What about you?"
"I'm currently thinking about how I'm going to have to take care of sick Marinette tomorrow."
"How noble."
"Thank you, Princess."
Marinette laughed. "Where did that nickname come from, anyway?"
"I...don't know, actually. I think I just saved you from a nasty Akuma and called you Princess. I guess the nickname just stuck."
"Oh, yeah! I remember now. For the record, Ladybug wanted me to help you. I didn't need saving. In fact, Evillustrator might still be on the loose if it weren't for me.
"Sure, Princess."
Marinette hummed. "Mhm. You know what?" she leaped out of her seat and stuck out her hand. "Let's go on an adventure."
"An adventure," Chat said dryly. "And where exactly where we go, Princess?"
"Who knows?" Marinette grinned. "That's the adventure part."
Chat shook his head. "Why not?" He put his hand in Marinette's and let her pull him up. "Hop on." Eagerly, Marinette all but jumped onto Chat's back. "Oof," he groaned, "I didn't mean literally."
"Sorry."
"Do you want to get a jacket first? It's purr-ty cold."
Marinette scrunched her nose. "That was horrible. And no, I don't need a jacket."
"You sure?"
"Paw-sitive."
Chat laughed." Hypocrite. First stop, the Eiffel Tower!" Using his baton, Chat quickly transported them to Paris's famous landmark. When they landed, Marinette scrambled off his back and gripped on the railing "What's wrong?"
"Nothing," she gasped, "Just...that was...I'm not used to that."
Chat Noir burst out laughing. "Sorry, Princess. But if you want an adventure, you have to get used to that. Don't worry, I was the same way."
"That's great to hear."
Chat walked up next to her and leaned on the railing. "Paris is really beautiful, isn't it?"
"Yeah. You should take me up here more often. It's good inspiration for designs."
Chat Noir grinned. "Sure. Do you think you'll be up for the ride?"
Marinette smiled back. "To get some good designs? Always."
The two stood in companionable silence, admiring the view. "Hey," Chat whispered, "I think it's time for part two of our adventure."
"There's a part two?"
"Of course. Climb on."
Marinette obeyed. "Where are we going," she asked once she was secured on his back.
"You'll see." Chat jumped from the railing and laughed at Marinette's terrified scream. At the last minute, he used his staff to stop their freefall and transported them to their next destination. When they landed, Marinette clung to him and didn't let go. "Are. You. CRAZY? What possessed you to freefall off the fucking Eiffel Tower?" Now while she was Ladybug, she didn't have her suit on to protect her. Her only option was to trust Chat Noir. She didn't like that option.
Chat Noir laughed and pried Marinette from his back. "Language! And nothing possessed me, Princess. I just wanted to have a little fun."
"That's your idea of fun?" Marinette shook her head. "You're crazy." She felt something fall on her head. She looked up, and a raindrop fell on her forehead. "And now it's raining!" She glared at Chat Noir's annoyingly happy face (he's lucky he's so cute) as the rain poured harder and harder. "Well," she asked. "What now?"
In response, Chat stomped on a newly-formed puddle, drenching Marinette in water. "What—Hey!" Chat laughed and ran away. "Oh, no you don't." Taking off after him, Marinette leaped and tacked the superhero to the ground. "Not so smug now, are you?" She said as she smiled smugly.
A mischievous glint shone in Chat's eyes and he smirked. Quickly, he pushed Marinette off him and pinned her down. "You were saying?"
Marinette blushed. "N-not fair."
Chat released her and attempted to run away again, only for Marinette to yank his tail, making him fall on his butt. (sometimes he really hated that thing) She shot up and ran as fast as she could.
Soon enough the two were chasing each other, stomping into puddles and dancing in the rain. When they were out of breath, they sat down under a gazebo and laughed together.
"You're crazy." panted Marinette.
"You've said that. But you gotta admit. It was a little fun. Even the part when we freefell from the Tower."
Marinette rolled her eyes. "Fine," she finally said. "I'll admit that it was a little thrilling."
Chat grinned, triumphant. "Yes! Oh, you screamed so loud! It's a wonder that you didn't wake up all of Paris."
She fake-punched him. "Shut up!" She looked around at her surroundings Where are we, anyway?"
Chat splayed out his arms. "Tuileries!"
"Really? I didn't recognize it." Marinette sneezed.
"Uh-oh. Is someone getting sick?"
"N-no!" She sneezed again. "Yes..."
"I told you."
"Don't rub it in."
Chat Noir sighed and shook his head fondly. "C'mon, Princess. Let's get you home." Marinette glumly climbed onto his back. "You ready for one more ride?"
She instantly brightened. "Yes!"
Chat grinned and took off, with Marinette whooping with joy all the way.
