Mari: I'm in so much pain... my blood is ice and my heart in stone. All I want is the cold touch that is your kiss and the firey heat that is your passion.

-Please Stand By-

Mari held the jacket closer around her shoulders. "I don't want to be lonely anymore." She said.

Kidd pulled her into a hug with his good arm and ignored the black running onto his white shirt. "It's okay, Mari."

The adults gathered around them and a rapid stream of questions flew at them. Mari started shivering at the sound of the voices overlapping. She could feel the black blood sealing off the two jagged holes in her back but she felt the two scars forming. She started crying and wiped her tears away. The voices swirled around her and Kidd saw. He pulled her close to him and whispered something soft that she couldn't hear.

Mari looked up at Stein as he said something to her. She shook her head as a loud buzzing filled her ears. She looked down at her body, everything normal, but the three keshin eyes and the scars in her back.

"Mari!" Stein said and she gasped. "What happened with your mother?"

Mari started shaking. "I let her go..." she buried her face into Kidd's chest. "I'm sorry... I'm sorry..."

Spirit looked around, his eyes hard as he looked back at Mari. "How could you?" He walked to the broken chains. "Where are they?"

Mari began to shake harder. "I... I killed them..." The adults looked at her.

"You killed your own mother?" Marie asked. "How could you do that even if she was a witch?"

Mari stood, her legs trembling. She pointed to where blood was on the wall, her mother's blood... no. that monster's blood. "That monster wasn't my mom!" she screamed, Marie taking a step back. Mari held her arms, her lips beginning to quiver. "They hurt me. They turned me into a monster... you should just leave me here." She walked to the wall where the remains of her mother's blood was. She collapsed to the floor and stared at the wall. "You really should just leave me." She turned, looking back at them. "But... I don't want you to."

The light behind the door caused her not to be able to see the adults faces. She could see her friends though, and they all had looks of anger, distress, sadness, across their faces.

Death said something to Stein and Spirit and they walked to her. Marie had a look of pain of her face and she held a hand to her mouth as the two men grabbed Mari's arms and dragged her to her feet. Her friends made a noise as the two began to pull Mari out the doors and down the hall. Kidd was yelling after her but when Mari turned, a scared look in her eyes, Marie was holding him back.

Mari smiled, fear thick on her face. "It's okay-"

"Be quiet." Spirit said, cutting her off. The pulled her down various hallways, all lit with torches. Mari didn't say anything as they dragged her along. They finally reached a metal door and they opened it. She looked inside and saw a small bed in one corner and a desk in another, with one small window.

She turned to them, her throat closing. "Don't-" she said, reaching out a hand before they closed the door. She pressed herself against the door, pleading with them to let her go. "P-please... d-don't leave me alone in here..." her eyes were wide with fear as the two spoke in hushed tones on the other side.

"Solitary confinement." Spirit said and Mari grabbed the door, her fingers scraping the metal.

"N-no..." she said, tears running down her cheeks. Her father had done the same once. Locked her in her room with nothing. No one. He had come back after three days, forgetting she had been there and she had been passed out on the floor, not have eaten for three days. "Please..."

She heard them walk away and she pounded on the door. She shouted after them and when no one answered she slid to the floor.

She didn't move for hours, her eyes staring at the same place on the door, where they would give her food, supposedly. She reached out a hand and saw that she could stick her hand through it, only up to her mid for arm, though, and the cold metal pressed into her skin. She drew away and wrapped her arms around her knees.

* * *

"H-hello?" someone said and Mari jolted up.

Her cheek had been pressed into the cold floor and she sat up, looking at the slit in the wall. She moved to it and opened it a little. She saw a boy sitting on the floor in front of her.

He had pink hair and she faintly remembered him as Crona, Ray's boyfriend. "Crona?" she asked.

He smiled, holding his arm. "H-hi Mari."

Mari smiled at him faintly and turned her eyes to look into his eyes. He flinched at the sight of her black eyes. She looked down at the ground so he wouldn't have to see the black demon eyes. "You know how long I've been in here? I passed out after they left..." he asked.

He shrugged uncomfortably. "A wh-while..." he said.

Mari nodded and turned, keeping her hand in the slot so they still talk. "I'm going crazy..." she said. "I can't be alone like this again-" she stopped herself. "Never mind." She shivered at the thought of her dad locking her up. "Did they ever bring me food when I was asleep?" she asked.

Crona shrugged. "It's been around four days and after the first, they stopped."

Mari shrugged. "I'm not hungry." She looked up at Crona. "Crona... you're a meister... you can see my soul, right? It is really bad?"

Crona looked down. "I-it's just really c-confusing... I don't know how to deal with it..."

Mari bent her head. "What does it look like?" she asked, hoping it wasn't that bad as she chewed her lip.

"W-well..." Crona said. "It looks like a human soul... but only a third..." His eyes flicked around for a moment, then seemed to look back at her soul. "B-but it's purple too, and th-there's red keshin egg scales going up it."

Mari bent her head down. "Thanks..." she said. She smiled a little and let the little slit slide closed. She heard footsteps from two people and the faint noise of Crona standing.

There was talking and Mari pressed her ear to the door as she heard Stein saying something to Crona with Spirit adding a few words every once and a while.

"Crona... were you talking to her?" Stein asked.

"She's in solitary confinement, you know that!" Spirit added and Mari heard Crona take a step back.

"N-no! It was just... Ray was worried that she would g-get lonely... we wouldn't have known how to deal with th-that..." Crona said.

She heard Spirit sigh. "That's what solitary confinement is, Crona. Someone being lonely with no one to talk to."

She heard Crona again. "Well... she doesn't deserve that. N-not after what she's been through w-with my mother..." She heard him take a breath. "I would know." He walked off.

Mari started to tremble. "No..." Mari tried to stand and move, but she fell to the ground, her back screaming out in pain. She sat up, feeling cold air on her back. She pulled Kidd's jacket, which had been on the floor, to her and put it over her shoulders.

The door opened and Spirit and Stein walked in. "Mari." Stein said.

Mari looked up at him, hatred burning bright in her eyes. "What?" she snapped, her lips cracking. They bled for a moment, then closed.

Spirit flinched and looked her in the eye. "We have good news, I guess. And bad."

Mari stared up at him. "What is it?"

"We just found out that the man you killed, was actually a keshin with his soul disguised with a almost invisible witch spell on it so it looked human. The way we figured it out was that his son had traces of keshin blood in him. And the man, Kidd told us, would almost suck your soul away from you when you went to him for therapy." Stein said.

Mari looked up at him, hope spreading through her chest. "So..." she began to cough as her body screamed with pain. She looked up at the two, wiping away a smear of blood. "What else?"

Stein shrugged as if what he was going to say wasn't that big of a deal, but Mari got the feeling it was. "Your mother was a hybrid, witch and keshin. Now that DNA is running through you. And she released your power so who knows what you'll do."

Mari's shoulders sank slowly. "Okay." She said, her throat closing and her lip beginning to tremble. "So I'm still a monster. And I tried to kill a bunch of people. And I should be dead."

Spirit nodded. "Sorry." He said simply as if that would fix everything.

Mari twitched and was in front of him in a moment. He made a noise as she gripped his shirt with a weak hand. "Sorry?" she asked. "'Sorry, Mari. You're a monster.'"

Spirit slashed out at her with his hand as a scythe, cutting into her. She took a step back, her shaking hand still griping him. The cut healed and Spirit looked away from her, blood coming from his nose. She looked up at Stein. "Can I at least have a shirt?" she asked and he threw one at her. She turned and pulled it on.

She ran a hand through her tangled hair. She thought about Medusa and the Fallen Angels altering their appearances. She closed her eyes and thought about it hard. A warm feeling ran over her and when she opened her eyes, Spirit had a shocked face on and Stein's eyebrows were raised.

She looked down at herself and saw she was wearing normal clothing, like when she was still human, or when she had thought she had been human. She had on black pants and shirt with a black leather jacket over it. She was wearing boots and her hair was down behind her back. She turned, watching Spirit take a step back and Stein clicked his screw. Her black eyes blinked as she felt something run down her face.

She put a hand to her nose and drew it away with a trace of black blood on it. "Oh..." she said, watching it slowly disappear.

"Lord Death wants to speak with you." Stein said.

Mari nodded and pulled off the black leather jacket. She winced at the movement, barely showing it. She tossed the jacket on the bed and realized that the back of her shirt was low cut and it showed the two, long, black scares where her dark angel wings used to protrude from.

Spirit stepped forward, Mari noticing his eyes brows lifting up and down life a creep. She held out her wrist for him to put straps on her so she couldn't get into trouble.

He looked into her eyes, looking as if he was trying to seduce her in some old man creep way. "Hey, Mari." He said.

Mari raised her eyebrows and lifted her hands above Spirit's head. His eyes flicked up as she brought her tied fists down onto him. He fell to the floor, making an odd sound.

"Perv." Mari said and turned to Stein, holding out her hands so he could take the chain connected to the straps.

"That never happened." Stein said, his glasses glinting, as they started walking.

Mari smiled for the first time in a while as they slowly made their way down hallway after hallway, turn after turn.

"You have one big dungeon." Mari commented as they stepped down another passageway.

"Yes. Probably the biggest in the world." Stein said.

"I saw that Marie wasn't pregnant anymore." Mari said, adjusting her hands. She looked up at Stein as he was quiet.

"Yes." He answered simply. "We named her Bella."

Mari smiled. "I told Marie that. It was my mother's middle-" her words cut off and she stopped. She took in a breath as she began to shake a little. The two scars on her back burned and she clenched her hands until they were white. She closed her eyes, trying to catch her breath.

Stein put his hand on Mari's shoulder, trying to calm her down. "Let's keep going." He said, trying to distract her.

She nodded and opened her eyes, the light seeming harsher than it had been before. "Okay." She said, the two voices in her head screaming at her.
