Mari: Blasting music and crashing shounds... Leaping colors and flashing light... Everything i love is within reach... But all out of sight.

-Please Stand By-

Mari stood at the end of the long hallway, her chest heaving. She smiled as she took a few steps down the long hall, her long tongue lashing out from her teeth. "Reaper..." she said again. She took another step and a stab of pain ran through her. She cried out and fell to her knees, the keshin eyes on her stomach burning red with hate. Her hands curled into fists and she lifted herself too her feet.

She looked up in the direction where the end of the hallway was. "Give me back my mom!" she screamed. She started running forward and black footprints were left behind her. She stumbled multiple times, falling once and feeling one of her ribs crack. She coughed and put a hand to her chest as she felt the bones move and crunch around.

She could finally see Lord Death and a few other figures around him. She had tears streaming down her cheeks and she moved like a blur and was suddenly right in from of Lord Death.

Her shoulders were heaving, her arms moving up and down. "Give... her back..." she said.

Lord Death looked down at her, his mask like it always was. "Well hello, Mari! You don't look so good!" his cheerful voice grated on her ears and she cringed. "What do you need?"

Stein, Marie, Kidd, Liz and Patty, Soul, Maka, and Spirit stood around her, all the weapons in their forms. "My... mom... Aya..." she said, rubbing an arm across her face to wipe away her tears.

"Oh, well," Death said. "This is a long story. Why don't all of you sit?"

Mari fell to the ground, her knees hitting the floor with a harsh sound. She leaned her head back as they fixed themselves. She felt her hands changing back to normal hands and her teeth turn back to normal teeth. She put a hand to her mouth and closed her eyes. Kidd moved next to her and the other sat too.

Death's big hands came out and he put them together. "So," he said. "Where to start? I guess I'll tell you the outline. I'll leave out a few things."

Mari looked at him, wanting to drink in the story like it was her lifeline.

Death moved so it appeared that he was looking at Mari. "It all started when Stein came back to me, fourteen ago... No! It's fifteen now. He told me that he had made a deal with a witch. I knew which witch it was and I warned him. He told me of your... uhh... form and of your mother and your genetics. You two are part witch and part keshin, and you, my dear, have a little weapon blood from your grandfather."

Maka, Soul, Liz, Patty, and Kidd were quiet, the adults already knowing everything. Mari's hands clenched.

"Then," Lord Death continued. "He said that your mother put a spell over you so your form was altered and the appearance of your soul too. And then, when you were five, that she altered your memories. Then, she left you and your father."

"She went and lived by herself in a secluded area away from all people, slowly being eaten by madness. Eventually, her true form showed and the witches found her. She begged them to help her and explained that she was a hybrid and that she had very powerful magic. She joined them, the two witches that found her, and they became a deadly trio of witches." He randomly had a cup of tea in his hands and he slowly took a sip while everyone stared at him. He finished and turned back to them. "They were called the three fallen angels; Aya, the Angel of Light, Akera, the Angel of Hell, and finally, Angelica, the Angel of Innocence. The three planned an attack on Death City and almost breeched us when all of you," he gestured to Mari, Kidd, Liz, Patty, Maka, and Soul. "Were about ten. Don't you remember the lock down a few years ago?"

Mari remembered it vividly. The feeling of the city shaking and the sound of screams and three mad voices laughing. She shivered and held her shoulders. It had all stopped after three days, then, Lord Death had announced that three witches had attacked Death City, but they had been apprehended and locked in a dungeon.

"Well, that was the three fallen angels. And they were captured and locked in a cell beneath the DWMA. They were bound with many chains so they wouldn't be able to use their magic. They're still there."

Mari stood to her shaking feet. "I want to see her." She said, her body shaking. She took a step forward and fell. Kidd caught her and set her down. She put a hand to her head as she felt something hot run through her.

"Your state of mind isn't stable, Mari." Stein said. "The madness in you is being held at bay, but barely. You shouldn't... not right not at least."

Death shrugged. "If she wants to see them." He turned to Mari. "And after that, we'll need to talk about your enrollment at the academy."

Kidd flinched. "You can't expel her. She was deep in madness."

His father held up a hand. "We will speak of it. Her state of mind might change after meeting her mother for the first time in ten years."

Mari stood with Kidd's help, and they all turned with Lord Death to a secret passageway that led to the dungeons beneath the academy. "Follow me!" Death said, going down the long staircase.

Mari clutched a handrail the entire way down, Kidd behind her with Maka and Soul in front of her in case she fell. She had to stop multiple times to control a fit of tremors. They finally made it to a small hallway with a few big doors on it. They were holding cells for witches. They walked down a few doors until they reached the end, the biggest door. Death pulled out a big ring of keys and unlocked the door. "Be careful." He said. "We'll be waiting in case something happens."

The door opened and Mari walked in with Kidd and her other friends. She knew that Black Star and Tsubaki weren't there because they had been guarding the Death Room. A stab of regret flashed through as she thought of the momentary madness that had forced her to hurt him and the other students.

The big door closed behind them and faint torches sparked and lit up the dark cell. There were sounds of pain as the torches lit and the people seemed to be at the end of the cell. Mari stepped forward and Kidd took her hand.

She put her hands to her mouth as she saw three beautiful woman, chained by their arms and legs to a great wall. Their hair was long but matted and their forms were dirty and their eyes full of hate.

One had bright red hair, one had golden hair, and one had silver hair, her mother. Her eyes filled with tears as their eyes met and she ran forward. Kidd called out to her but she ignored him. She fell into her mother's outstretched arms and began to sob.

"Mari!" Aya cried as she held her daughters shaking form.

Mari sat back, looking at her mother and the other two women. Their forms were emaciated and they only wore tattered clothing, probably the same clothing they had been wearing for the past nine years. But most of all, the flawless, shining,, angel wings as big as hers, sprouting from their backs, matching the color of their hair.

Her mother pulled her into a hug. "The reaper must have told you so many lies. We never attacked the city, they came after us and the lockdown was them trying to take us in. We fought back, of course, and then they locked us in here to rot." Her mother said.

Mari felt as if something was terribly wrong, but she pushed it to the back of her mind. "But if you cant use magic... how did you talk to me?"

Aya smiled sweetly, her sunken cheeks standing out. "I'm part keshin and I found away so I could use some of my magic. That's how I spoke to you and," She rested a hand on Mari's stomach, feeling the keshin eyes. "How I healed your stomach."

"That was you?" Mari asked.

Aya nodded and held her face in her hands. "Yes. And if you set me free, I can release your true power." Mari started to shake her head no but her mom's began to fill with panic. "Mari... I think they're going to kill us... Me, Akera, and Angelica." Her head fell to Mari shoulder. "Please..."

Mari reached her hand down, grasping her mother's chains. She broke them with her hands and her friends didn't notice until her mother had risen and begun to cross to the other two witches, breaking their chains as well.

"Wait... what?" Kidd said as Aya shot a spell at the door and the hinges melted shut.

"So," Aya said, helping the blonde angel up, holding the red haired one around the waist. They all stretched, their joints popping.

"Thank you, Mari." The blonde said. "My name is Angelica. Thank you for freeing us."

The red haired one made a sweet smile at her. "Thank you. I'm Akera. We can finally use out magic again." Their appearances altered and they were wearing new clothing and their hair became smooth.

Akera walked to Mari and grabbed her arm. "But now," Angelica said as Akera dragged Mari to her mother.

Aya smiled evilly down at her daughter. "We're going to turn you to a true monster."

Mari eyes widened as she realized the hot feeling running through her body, the magic of the three witches.

Soul, Liz, and Patty were in weapon form and they were in Kidd and Maka's hands. "Stop!" Maka yelled and ran at Mari and the witches. Kidd joined her and they raised their weapons.

Akera smiled and held up a hand. The two meisters froze in place. Their faces twisted with pain and they fell to the ground, looking as if invisible weights were on them. They gasped and Kidd reached out to Mari.

Her eyes were wide and a single tear ran down her cheek as Angelica and her mother held her shoulders. "What have I done?" Mari asked.

Her mother laughed, her voice thick with insanity. "I will finally release this spell after ten years! And my daughter will be a witch! Finally she can be my child again!" the three witches smiled.

Angelica came close to Mari's ear. "Mari... what a beautiful name. Let's split it up into different words, shall we?"

Akera smiled with enjoyment as she held her hands out toward Kidd and Maka, keeping the magic on them. "M... that's for Maybe a demon."

Angelica's grip tightened on Mari. "A and R... A child of a keshin witch and... Rightfully insane."

Aya's lips parted and she spoke. The spell around Mari's soul that held her magic in began to unravel as her mother's words hung in the air. "I. In the arms of the angels."

The spell broke with a crack and Mari gasped as she felt magic run through her. "Stop!" she screamed and her words cut off as she felt magic run all the way to her fingertips. She began to shake. "I-I don't want to be a w-witch..."

Angelica's head tilted with confusion. "But you will be the forth angel. Mari, the Angel of Darkness."

Kidd's hands clenched with anger. "No! Mari isn't a witch!"

Akera sighed. "You're getting annoying, reaper boy." There was a blur of motion and Akera was behind Kidd. "Be quiet." She said and stepped on his left arm until it cracked.

Kidd closed his eyes and his lips parted with pain. "Hurt me all... you want. Mari isn't... a witch..."

Mari's eyes filled with tears. "Kidd!" She cried out and Angelica and Aya's hold on her tightened.

Aya's eyes were hard. "Kill all of them." She said.

Mari looked up at her. "No! You can't! Please don't! Kill me instead! Do all you want to me just don't kill them!"

Akera stopped her foot from slamming down into Maka as Angelica's hand waved in the air. "Fine." The angel said.

Aya looked into her daughter's eyes. "If that's how it is, then fine." Her and Angelica pushed her to her knees and held her arms behind her back. "Akera," Aya said. "Tear her wings off."

Mari went cold and she started shaking. "N-no!" she said as Akera walked over, keeping Kidd and the others under the spell. "Okay." She said.

Maka yelled with rage. "Don't touch her! You bitch!"

Kidd reached out his hand to Mari, his broken arm at his side. "M-Mari!" he said and stretched his arm out. "Mari! Mari! I-it's okay!"

Mari opened her mouth, tears streaming down her face. Her friends still loved her. They didn't see her as a monster. They only saw Mari. Their friend. Mari looked at Kidd and Maka.

She smiled, her tears streaming. "It's okay. What's a little more pain?"

She felt a ripping sensation in her back and she gasped. She writhed under the pain, her eyes squeezing shut. There was a final tear and she gasped.

"That was the first one!" Aya said.

Mari shook with sobs as she felt black blood run down her back.

"Oh! Medusa gave her black blood!" Angelica said with excitement. "I wonder what kind of witch she'll be!"

Mari was in a pool of her blood, the black blood not working again. She felt Akera take hold of the other black wing in her back and she sobbed. "P-please stop!"

Her mother leaned next to her ear. "No." she said.

Mari's eyes widened as the other wing was ripped out of her back. She screamed as Akera threw it to the side, laughing. The other two fallen angels began to laugh as well and they dropped Mari to the floor. She curled into a ball and held her legs.

"Maybe we should kill the others!" Angelica said and Aya and Akera agreed. Akera walked to Kidd and prepared to crush him. Mari eyes got wide and she moved to Akera in a flash.

Mari's claws stabbed into her stomach and Akera made a noise of surprise. "Don't touch them." Mari said, her black eyes staring into Akera's red ones. Mari opened her mouth full of needle teeth and ripped Akera's throat opened. Her body fell to the ground and began to shimmer into a soul.

Angelica made a noise of anger and ran Mari, her hands whirling with a spell. Her delicate fingers flew out at Mari and a curse shot at Mari. Mari held up her hand and magic rushed to her fingertips, blocking the curse. She ran at Angelica, her teeth bared. She raised her hand and her finger came together, morphing into a large claymore blade. It drove into Angelica's stomach and sliced upward, cutting her in half. She swayed and began to turn to a soul.

Mari turned to her mother, tears and blood streaking her face. "I hate you..." Mari said and was suddenly in front of her mom. Aya jumped back, dodging Mari's attack. Mari screamed and slashed the air.

Aya raised her hands and wings, a ball of light forming. She threw it at Mari and Mari dodged it. Aya's eyes grew wide as Mari was in front of her. "... Mom." She said as her teeth dug into the witches neck.

Her mom smiled and started laughing as her body began to disappear, blood spitting from her mouth. "And to think! You could've been an Angel with us!"

Mari grabbed the purple soul in her hand and ate it in one motion. She watched her body go back to normal and she felt her body flickering with witch magic. She walked to the other two souls, taking them in her hand and eating them.

She fell to her knees and swayed. Black blood still streamed from her back and she couldn't stop it. "Kidd? Maka? Soul? Liz? Patty?" she said, her body trembling with pain. "I'm sorry."

Kidd was in front of her and there was a smiled on his face. "It's okay." He said, his broken arm at his side. He fell to the floor in front of her and fell into her. "I'm so sorry..."

Maka and Soul walked to her. "Mari..." Soul said and knelt next to her after Maka, both of them wrapping their arms around her. Liz was crying as she hugged Mari and Patty was too.

Mari felt the two large wounds on her back begin to close. The bandages that had been on her chest were gone and Kidd took off his jacket, wincing as it went past his arm. He put it over Mari and she tugged it over her shoulders.

"I want to go home." Mari said, tears rolling down her cheeks.

The people on the outside finally got the door open and ran in yelling and asking if they were okay.

Kidd nodded. "Let's go home."
