"Mari! Wake up!" a voice said and Mari rolled over in bed. "Come on! It's time to get up!" the voice persisted.
"No..." Mari said, rolling over. It had been a few weeks since she had summoned the demon in her bathroom, and it had been nonstop wedding stuff since then.
"Mari!" the voice said again and Mari turned over.
"Leave me alone!" Mari said and suddenly the blankets were torn off of her. Cold hit her and she moaned. "Come on..." she said.
Ray's face appeared over her, smiling from ear to ear. "Mari! It's your wedding day though!" she said, hardly keeping her excitement in.
Mari twitched. "Hmmm?" she said, falling asleep again.
Ray sighed. "How late did you stay up?" she asked. Mari flinched. Ray stretched. "You leave me no choice." She said. She jumped on Mari and began tickling her.
Mari started laughing and squirming under Ray. "Stop it R-Ray!" she said, trying to control her giggling.
"Never!" Ray said.
A few minutes later, Mari had finally dragged herself out of bed. She looked at the clock, seeing that it was, indeed, August eighth. She closed her eyes as a headache began behind her eyes. It was nine in the morning and Ray was so perky... it shouldn't have been humanly possible.
Ray grabbed Mari's hands, dragging her into the bathroom. "Take a shower and then come downstairs for breakfast!" Ray said.
Mari nodded, rubbing an eye. There had been a party last night, just all of the girls. Ray had called it a bachelorette party and Mari had just gone along with it. "What happened after I came up here to write my vows?" she asked.
Ray smiled. "We cleaned up. We knew Kidd would've killed us if we hadn't."
"Thanks Ray." Mari said. She thought for a second. "Isn't there some tradition where Kidd isn't supposed to see me...?" Mari asked.
Ray laughed, leaving the bathroom. "We kicked him out last night after he came to see you." She said. "But you were sleeping. It was around three in the morning." She said.
Mari held her head. "I'm going to crash tonight." Ray left and Mari climbed into the shower, the warm water feeling nice on her skin. The time had flown by faster than she could've believed. It was only a few weeks that she was sitting in this bathroom, the light broken, telling Stein she was going insane.
Mari washed her hair, sighing. How long did she have? Mari leaned her head against the tile walls of the shower. Only a few years, less, if she was lucky.
When Mari got out, she felt awake, and she also felt the bags under her eyes. She didn't even look in the mirror, knowing what she would look like and dried her hair.
She pulled on a big fluffy robe and stepped into the bedroom. She saw Liz, Patty, Maka, Tsubaki, and Ray all sitting on the bed in casual clothing, all of their faces bright with excitement.
"Mari!" Patty said, flinging herself at Mari.
"Patty!" Mari said, falling against the wall with the force of Patty's hug. All the girls swarmed her, hugging her and talking rapidly. Mari held her head, her headache pounding in her ears. "You guys!" she said, smiling too. "Chill! I can't think!"
"Sorry." Tsubaki said, little tears in her eyes.
"Now. We don't have much time to get you ready." Ray said.
Maka laughed, looking at the clock. "It's nine-thirty and the wedding is at four. If six and a half hours isn't enough time to get ready, what is?!" she asked.
Ray looked at Mari, a fire in her eyes. "She has to look perfect and symmetrical!" Ray said and the other girls nodded.
Mari shrank away a little. "You guys are scaring me a little..." she said.

A few hours later, Mari had all of her makeup on. She had sat in front of the five girls for a long time until her makeup was perfect, then they had done her hair and tat had also taken forever.
Ray was carrying a big garment bag down the steps toward the car Mari was waiting in. The other four girls came out of the house carrying other things. They loaded all the stuff into the car's trunk and got in with Mari.
"Are we going now?" Mari asked.
"Yep!" Ray said.
The five girls were about to explode with excitement and Mari was going to die from Patty singing chapel of love again and again. The driver brought them to the back of the church and all of them got out. They went into a little side door that led to a room where Mari could put on her dress and what not.
"Put on the dress! Put on the dress!" a little girl's voice said when they reached the room.
Mari's eyes brightened when she saw Bella, in a short blue dress, almost a replica of the brides maids dresses. "O-okay Bella." Mari said.
Ray unzipped the big garment bag and Mari smiled as she saw the white dress. Ray pulled it out, Tsubaki and Liz rushing to held her under the weight of it. They brought it to Mari and she turned to take off her jacket, her light underclothes covered by it.
Patty took the jacket and Mari caught a glance of herself in the mirror. She paused as she saw her ribs clear through her skin, her cheeks looking sunken. Someone tugged on Mari's hand and she looked down at Bella, her calming wavelength passing into her.
"Please will you put on the dress?" she asked, her little blue eyes pleading with Mari and trying to distract her from her emaciated reflection.
"Okay..." Mari said, turning to Ray and stepping into the dress. They pulled it up and Tsubaki zipped the back, it fitting like it had been made for her, which it had...
Mari turned and looked at herself in the mirror, the long white dress falling clear past her feet. It was strapless and her hair was curled, little roses in it. The folds of the dress were flowing and when Mari turned a little, she saw the hints of embroidered flowers. It was tight around her waist, then slightly puffed out.
"Wow..." Bella said, her eyes bright.
Mari smiled, her chest filling with happiness at the thought of her marrying Kidd, the person who had loved her unconditionally the whole time.
The door opened and someone walked in. Mari turned to see Soul and Black Star, both in suits, fighting over something.
"Boys!" Tsubaki and Maka said in unison. The two ran up to the two young men and fixed their clothing. Tsubaki straightened Black Star's tie, and Maka folded Soul's collar the right way.
"I'm going to walk her!" Soul said.
Black Star huffed as Tsubaki gave up on fixing the tie, and just undid it and restarted. "As if. I already told you, long before you had the idea, I was going to walk her!" he said.
"What's going on...?" Mari asked, her eyebrows drawing together.
"We're deciding who's going to walk you down the isle!" said the two boys at the same time. They turned to each other and growled.
"Enough." A voice said and all of them turned. Stein was standing in the doorway, clicking his screw as he looked at Mari. "I'm going to walk her down the isle." He said.
Mari smiled. She had been planning just to walk on her own, her father being dead. But this seemed right. All that Stein had helped her through, everything.
"Fine." Black Star grumbled, inching away from Stein, almost seeing the dark ora emanating off him.
"O-okay..." Soul said.
Stein's face broke into a smile and he walked to Mari. He took her shoulders in his hands and pulled her at arms length to look at her. "You look..." he said. "Wonderful." He said.
Mari smiled. "Thank you, Stein." She said.
Ray huffed. "Now that that's all out of the way..." she took in a breath. "All of you get out so we can change!" she yelled.
The two boys and Stein rushed out of the room, knowing Ray would kill them.
The girls all got dressed after helping Mari to a chair. She could barley sit down, the dress so poofy. Bella sat next to her, smiling.
"Are you happy?" the little girl asked.
Mari smiled. "I can't put it into words." She said.
All the girls were ready a moment before there was a nock on the door and Crona peeked in, his eyes covered. He was wearing a suit too, just like the other boys. "K-kidd told me to tell y-you, that it's t-time..." he said, peeking a little and blushing when he saw Ray.
"O-okay." Mari said, Bella helping her up. The girls rushed around, finishing everything and gathered around Mari. They walked her to the door and out into the hallway to the doors that led into the chapel.
"Good luck!" they all whispered, sneaking into the door to take their places. Bella followed them and Mari was alone.
"So," Stein's voice said, and Mari turned to see him, holding a bouquet of flowers. "What would you have done without you flowers?" he asked and Mari held her hands out for them.
"You stole them when you were in the dressing room, didn't you?" she asked, laughing a little.
He nodded and handed them to her, taking a moment to click his screw. He hugged her then, his big arms going around her. "I'm so proud of you, Mari." He said, and Mari knew there was so much more under those words. He didn't mean he was proud of her for being beautiful, or growing up, he was proud of her for holding out against the insanity until now; For being strong, and able to smile in the end.
Mari turned to the door as she heard Soul's piano music begin to emanate from inside the chapel.
"Look's like it's time." Stein said, holding out his arm for Mari.
She smiled and took his arm, the two great doors beginning to open and Mari could see bright, smiling faces.
"Let's go." She whispered, her chest filling with an indescribable happiness when she saw Kidd at the end of the big hall and their eyes met, both of them smiling.
