Maria drops her suitcase onto the floor of the hotel room. Sinking onto the bed, she turns to Joe and Camila, two of her family's friends.

"Why are we here?" She murmurs.

"For a vacation," Camila answers.

Maria sighs and lays down. Her mind racing with memories from the previous year. When she ran away from her parents.

"What if they're here?"

Joe and Camila share concerned looks. Sinking down next to the young red head, Camila strokes her hair.

"It'll be okay. We'll stick to the quiet parts of the city okay?"

A small smile comes across Maria's face as she nods.

The next day, the three visit the beach. It's strangely quiet considering it's a Saturday. Joe and Camila are curled up in deckchairs with ice creams while Maria goes exploring.

Climbing up to the cliff top, Maria lays back on the rough grass. Closing her eyes, she allows herself to clear her mind.

I miss mum and dad. It's been hard without them, but I'm almost happy I've moved. It's been even harder without Jay. He left a year ago to who knows where and he hadn't been in contact since.

When her eyes blink open, a shadow crawls across her face. Snapping her head up, her eyes land on a figure in blue. The electric blue eyes widen in surprise.

"Sis?"

The hood flips down. His messy auburn hair, electric blue eyes, barely visible freckles.

"Jay?"
